Transformers

NEWS: Took down TF Parts site, no one was using it, oh well.

Storyline

The first series of Transformers was based on a combination of Japanese toys called Diaclones (Explaining why there are some Japanese toys that look just like Transformers, but are different colors of varied in a different way.) The leader of these two factions are Optimus Prime and Megatron and the story is basically about alien robots that live on Cybertron and they come to Earth and bring their war with them.

After many battles in the television show, along comes the movie and Optimus dies and Megatron is transformed into Galvatron. The movie was drawn in Japan, so it has high-quality, anime cartoon drawing. This ties the first part to the season that comes afterwards which introduces a bunch of new toys. The time period of the story is in the year 2005 so the movie and the series after it is futuristic and more concerned with space travel than the original seasons.

The battles between Galvatron and Rodimus concern so many time travel, space anomalies, and aliens that it reminds me of Star Trek. The season is cut off right after Optimus is revived and after the Headmasters and Targetmasters are created.

The series continues in Japan in the following series, chronologically orgnized: Transformers Headmasters, Transformers Masterforce, and Transformers Victory. They also had the cartoons shown in the U.S.  They also had a different version of the Transformers: The Movie.

Beast Wars is the most newest generation, taking place 2 to 3 hundred years after the Great War, which I assume to be the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. The next generation has these new factions called Maximals and Predacons, led by Optimus Primal and Megatron (Note: These characters are not the original. They just have the same names to honor past leaders.) They turn into animal forms, and its Computer Generated Animation, which makes it hecka cool looking.

The second season in Beast Wars has come out. A lot of changes since Season One. Look forward to character developments and new characters.

My Opinions

Okay, I love Transformers. I have around 30 or so toys and I think they're pretty cool. I guess I like them because there is so much more to do with them than just pose them like other action figures. Think about it, you get a vehicule or bug thing and you get a (usually) humanoid figure.

The new Beast War and Machine Wars toys are the next generation in Transformers. The new ones are flexible, and most have many joints so that there is extra posability. Some of the animals actually look real too.

My favorite kind of Transformers were the combiners. I suppose that was because I always wanted one, but never had one as a child. Now, though, I have Devastator and most of Computron. There's also a new Beast Wars combiner, but I don't have it so I can't really comment on that.
