JINGAI Name: Jingai Kanzaki Player name and e-mail address: Mark Ranel M. Lambo maramala@rocketmail.com Residence: Apartment 7D, Mystic Manor, Nerima Ward, Tokyo, Japan Occupation: prizefighter, career martial artist adventurer --- APPEARANCE Race: Human (Asian -- he's not a gaijin, though he happens to look like one) Age: seventeen Height: about six foot tall, more or less Build: tall and slender, a bit on the skinny/wiry side Eyes: usually clear sky-blue Hair: short and spiky golden-blonde, with silver streaks Skin: pale skin, though it easily tans Features: tall (for an Asian); eyes tend to occasionally shimmer and change color; near-androgynous looks (e.g. "bishonen") Clothing: Tries not to attract attention by wearing inconspicuous casual attire, but usually wears grey rubber shoes (he has taken a liking to gaijin brand shoes) and faded (sometimes torn in some places) blue jeans, long-sleeved leather jacket (sometimes folded to his arm) over a long-sleeved white shirt, jet-black steel wire-inlaid fingerless leather gloves, mirrored shades, and a plain black baseball cap. Props: canvas knapsack (w/ extra clothes, food, and plot devices galore); portable palmtop computer (so? This IS the 20th century, after all :); Many old scrolls containing Martial Arts Techniques. --- PERSONALITY Description: Totally humble and polite, usually mistaken for shyness and lack of self-esteem -- or maybe just plain haughty arrogance and conceit. His seemingly neutral and indifferent attitude might impede him from relating socially to the other characters effectively (he can't help it, he was raised that way), though he tries to by being OVERLY polite. He also tends to be overly honest and blunt to people. His upbringing compels him to speak out his mind and say the VERY wrong thing at a VERY wrong time. A fast learner, he as adapted quite comfortably with the urban life of the 20th century, despite spending most of his life away from it. He is fascinated with any form of history, knowing that events can develop or change the forms of martial arts. His past "failure" has made him indifferent of any religion, so he neither condemns nor condone any. The only people he respects are martial artists who "prove themselves worthy". Love interests: None, as of yet (although Nezumi would certainly agree, if he could get around to it... :) Friends: Nezumi Hatsuka, Ryuu Kumon (Ryouga, Yuta and Mana probably won't count, as they were merely passing aquaintances, among others... :) Romantic rivals: None, as of yet Professional rivals: Ryuu Kumon, Tom Tarou Enemies: None, as of yet (Give me a few weeks... :) Identifying quote: "Wait! Let's see you do that again..." "I do hope I'm not too superior compared to you." "I guess I over-estimated you." --- ASPECTS Clones: None yet Curses: None yet, though his chi-sensitivity qualifies as one Lookalikes: None other than his great-grandfather Jingai Hirokana Kagura (who died centuries ago) Other: Due to his unique training, Jingai is a walking chi generator. He will never ever run out of ki energies to draw on, unless a really massive energy draining power is used specifically against him (something about the level that is the equivalent of the entire city of Tokyo). The only problem is that he hasn't learned how to tap the power he is barely aware of from within him effectively, and his personality prevents him from reaching his full potentials. Of course, being chi-sensitive doesn't help him at all. RL: Skribulous --- ABILITIES: Skills: Shaolin Kung Fu. Some Acrobatics. Computer Literate. Survivalist. History Major (Asian History and Martial Arts Lore). Keen Sense of Perception/Observation. Some Occult and Supernatural Knowledge. Multilingual. Can play the flute. Powers: Mikansei Kami-jitsu (imperfect generation and manipulation of ki/psi/magic?), Akarido ("power analyzer"), Bukuujitsu (limited flight), Yare (Defense against pressure point/critical hit attacks). Chi-sensitive (feels the flow and effects of chi forces in the area -- more of a curse than a power). All standard animé martial arts abilities. --- HISTORY Jingai came to Nerima to look for his old friend Ryuu Kumon, whom he haven't seen for over three years. The recent incident (The Ryuu Thread) has been an shocking eye-opener for him. He now spends his time training and meditating on the past events, trying to gain understanding on the various experiences he has faced. (He still has the Kazesenken scroll.) Complicating matters is the fact the Ryuu is now master of Empty-Ki, which is a martial arts technique that could fatally harm him. Still determined to continue in the pursuit of his goal of creating or rediscovering the God Skill Martial Art Style, he is unfortunately unsure on what he should do next. He has more recently taken an interest to Lisa and her powers.
