Aim of Judo:
--To Unbalance the Opponent, and Throw him/her to their back, in order to Win the contest. --To Hold another on his/her backs, under Control, for a period of 30 secs. --To apply an Arm-lock or Strangle to extract a Submission.
Safety Rules:
1)No "Horse-play" such as Running & Shoving. 2)No Improper Behavior. 3)Wear Appropriate Clothing as prescribed by the Instructor. 4)Don't exercise if being iLL/Injured. 5)Walk in Do Jang (Training Area) in Bare feet. 6)No Hard objects such as rings, watches, necklaces & bracelets should be Worn.
Time limit of Contest:
--3 mins for Junior --At least 5 mins for Senior
Referee Signals [I]:
1)IPPON: --Full point (10), --Opponent is Thrown Cleanly on the back, with Force, --Or held under Control on the Mat for 30 secs, --Can be achieved by a cumulative score of 2 WAZA-ARIs. 2)WAZA-ARI: --Near IPPON (7), --1 WAZA-ARA win over Any no. of YUKOs, --Throw is not completely successful, without sufficient Force, --Or held under Control at least 25 secs, --2 WAZA-ARIs make an IPPON [WAZA-ARI-AWASETE-IPPON] (7+7=10 ?). 3)YUKO: --Almost WAZA-ARI (5), --1 YUKO Override Any no. of KOKAs, --Throw is partially successful, --Or held under Control for 20-25 secs. 4)KOKA: --Almost YUKO (3), --Opponent is thrown with Some force but Not on the back, --Or held under Control at least 10 secs. 5)OSAEKOMI: --Mat hold begins, --Opponent is held under Control on his/her back and the time starts. 6)MATTE: --Match is stopped temporarily, --Judokas return to the MIDDLE of the mat, --Time Clock Pauses.

1)HAJIME: --Start 2)TOKETA: --Hold-down broken 3)SORE-MADE: --END of Contest 4)SONO-MAMA: --FREEZE, as the referee wnats a CLOSE-LOOK at a hold-down 5)YOSHI: --Continue after SONO-MAMA 6)HANTEI: --Accompanied by the raising of RED & WHITE flags, --call for referees decision on a result. 7)HIKE-WAKE: --referee declares a DRAW, --usually heard in PRACTICAL grading Exam. 8)TORI: --the PLAYER executing a TECHNIQUE 9)UKE: --the PLAYER on whom the TECHNIQUE is done
