Drifting
Chapter 2

[and I'm helpless]
I glanced around frantically trying to spot my attacker, but there was nothing. The silence was loud in my ears, and the dark that was night hid everything well. I shivered as a chill ran up my spine. I felt nervous for the first time in a long time. I didn't know what it was out there, but it wasn't what...I was used to.
I felt alone, though I should have been used to that. I should have been prepared for anything.
-but I don't think anyone would have bbeen ready for what would come.
I stepped forward and froze at the flicker of youki in the back of my mind. Youki...was that what it was? I wasn't about to argue with what was obvious, except for the fact that it simply didn't feel right to me.
I wanted to scream at whatever was playing around with me, I wanted to shout and gather my power and run and yell and take it down. I can honestly say that violence is no longer my first choice but whatever has been stalking me is...different. Too different.
No one wants to seem judgmental but this is far too different to be a good thing.
I was feeling anxious. Anxious but apprehensive. Something was going to happen to me, but what?
'Tis a cruel, cruel world.
I growled again and turned to stare into the darkness, desperate for movement. The light poles gleamed dimly, the only real light to guide me.
Though my night vision was never anything but decent.
Staring and glaring, I felt as if the night would drag on. I wanted to leave but I didn't want to leave withou fight...finding out what was out there. It would not be smart to leave a potential enemy (demon?) or unknown being on it's own, would it? Most certainly not.
Funny, my luck had had really taken a turn for the worse.
The evening started out presumably well, all school-related activities taken care of and plenty of free time on my hands. I had wandered about, finding Hiei in one of his usual tree perches, having a rather bland and vague conversation with said fire demon, and wandering off again. For me, that was nearly satisfactory.
Then I walked into the park.
I turned for a moment, searching for a flash of youki again, only to find myself floating-
Floating?
-through the air at tremendous speed, slamming into a nearby tree trunk.
I suddenly hated the park.
I groaned and shook my head, trying to clear the haze that seemed to have descended upon me. Everything was a blur, and as I tried to stand up, ready for anything except what came, I found myself being pushed down again. Not forcefully, just a soft touch.
Everything was dark and little orbs of light that could only have been street lamps seemed to flicker through the trees, and a rather slim, dark, semi-tall something stood in my direct line of view. I started dumbly, dazed and slightly confused. I sat up slightly, shaking my head once more. I looked up at my 'attacker' wondering why I hadn't been finished off yet. I tried to glare, but my breath cuaght at the site.
And suddenly everything was clear.

Well, here's Chapter one. I don't know where this story is going really, but I hope it comes out okay.
All standard disclaimers apply.
Oh, and guess what? I just saw the Final Fantasy movie on DVD because we rented it. My mom loved it and says she wants to buy it...Yay! I thought the graphics were so cool ;_; Bite me.
Just wanted to say that for no particular reason. The next chapter should be up soon :P
