"Did you see that worry expression on Kurama's face?" Yuusuke asked them.

"Yes I did. What's the matter with it? Hiei-chan is his friend. He has every reason to be worried." Keiko said.

"I know that. But he looked like Hiei was his..."

"Lover?" Kuwabara finished it for him.

"Yeah! That's the damn right word."

"Please you guys. Stop this none-sense."

"Yeah. What's the problem. This is a free country. Kurama can love anyone he wants. What's the matter with you. Just like to being nosy?" said Keiko as-matter-of-factly.

"hahha~ Of course not.." Yuusuke laughed himself silly. The last thing he wanted to do was get Keiko to be angry at him. He already knew what it felt like to be punched by her, and he definitely didn't want to try it again. Suddenly, a knock at the door woke them from their discussion.

"That must be Kurama-chan." Yukina said as she went to open the door.

"How's Hiei? Has he waken yet?" That was Kurama's first question.

Everybody exchanged side glances. Yukina smiled.

"He is fine, but he is still asleep." Kurama's face became relieved, but a dark shadow was still hanging from above.

"Kurama-chan. Is something wrong? You look like someone has just stolen your soul.." Keiko said after observing Kurama a few more seconds.

Everybody suddenly turned their attention to his face.

"Um... it's nothing really."

"Come on Kurama. We are friends. You can tell us everything." Yuusuke said.

Kurama took a breath. Maybe they are right. Maybe they can help me out. Kurama sighed. "I guess you are right. It's my Mom. She... She engaged me to her best friend's daughter, Yukiko." Everybody stared at him hard with jaws opening big.

"What about Hiei!?" Kuwabara asked. Immediately, he was hit by Yuusuke, Keiko and Yukina. Kurama stared at the scene with shock. "So you... me... you know... Hiei... I... ar... " Kurama stammered as he felt his face turning red.

"We sort of know. Don't worry about it. We don't have any objections." Yukina explained with a smile.

"So what about that marriage? You can just tell your mother that you don't want her. You are in love with somebody else." Yuusuke asked. But Kurama sighed heavily.

"I wish it could have been that easy. You don't know how much she likes Yukiko. She is pretty and smart and extremely wealthy. My Mom sees it as a great opportunity."

"Are you sure you don't like her?" Kuwabara asked again.

"I like her as a friend. But..." Kurama hesitated, " there is something missing, and I can't quite explain what it is."

Suddenly, a moan sound appeared.

"Hiei!" Kurama said, realizing it was Hiei's voice. He hurried to the room where the little koorime was staying. He was surprised to find that Hiei was still sleeping. But he was tossing and turning, as if fighting the discomfort from his injured shoulder. Kurama sighed and sat down at the edge of the bed beside him. He watched him for a while and put a cool hand on the fire domon's forehead. Hiei murmured something in his sleep but stopped tossing right at the instance when Kurama touched him. Kurama put a hand on his wounds and concentrated there. The skin suddenly grew with green light and then disappeared. He took off the bandage and the wound was gone. Now if Hiei woke up, he would be fine as ever. Being drained to use half of his energy to heal the wound, Kurama felt a bit sleepy, but couldn't resist a look at his lover. He suddenly had this bad feeling that the days with Hiei was getting shorter and shorter by the minutes. He just hoped that his prediction was wrong, which wasn't likely.

"Oh God Hiei. Do you know how much I love you?" Kurama whispered, touching Hiei's cheek. But Hiei only twisted and turned. Kurama withdrew his hand quickly, afraid that he might wake him up. He watched him a bit longer before he held Hiei's hand and pressed it gently on his face. He hesitated, thinking about the engagement.

"How can I tell you that my Mom wants me to marry someone I don't love?" Kurama said. A single tear dropped down from his eyes to Hiei's hand. " I will never have the heart. You will never believe me. Your pride is much too high for that." Kurama laughed. But it was a bitter laugh. "Funny, that's one of your charms." His tone turned serious.

"I hope you won't hear this while you are sleeping. I will still like to keep a bit pride in myself. If I let you know how much you means to me, you will only laugh or run away from me." He said sadly. " And I will never want to take that chance. I will do anything to keep you with me. I love you that much. God knows how much I love you."

"And Hiei," he bent down and whispered to Hiei's ear, "I promise, I will love only you." With that, he kissed Hiei softly on the lips. And laid down beside him, and fell into dreamless sleep.

====================================================================

Hiei waited till Kurama fell into a deep sleep. Once he was sure that Kurama was asleep, he jumped up and clunching to his heart. He shut his eyes tightly. He had heard every single word that Kurama had said since he came to his room to check on him. The truth was he was awoke the minutes Kurama healed his wound. He could feel Kurama's energy been transferred into his system and making him feel alive again. The poison seemed to wear off already. Just before he was going to sit up, he heard Kurama's confession. He felt the loving tenderness the way Kurama held his hand and leaned his head on it. He even felt the tear Kurama dropped. He felt so useless to let him cry. Kurama seldom cried, if he did, it was only for the ones he loved, that was what Hiei had realized. He was a bit hurt when he heard about the marriage, but was hurt even more when he knew that Kurama would never want to marry the other girl because of him. His heart was jumping and pounding with happiness and sadness at the same time -- happiness for the loyal heart of Kurama's, sadness for their forbidden love.

He thought about the story of Romeo and Juliet. He didn't know why, but the story kept haunting his mind. Could it be a foreshadowing? Kurama was like Juliet, being forced to marry someone else. Then he would be Romeo. Kurama, I hope we don't have to suffer like Romeo and Juliet. I will do whatever I can to protect you. In fact, he would leave him now, to reduce Kurama's trouble. It was for the sake of love. Nothing could affect him more. If he left, then Kurama would have his normal life back again. It didn't matter how hurt his heart would be, it would hurt even more to see Kurama suffer the pain because of him.

I will leave, Kurama. Hiei brushed his lips to his. Just pretend you have never met me. A tear gem fell down and landed on the bed. He picked the shining stone up and put it gently into Kurama's hand and closed it. In a flash, he was gone with his sword, leaving the curtain swinging by the wind.

====================================================================

There wasn't anyone who was more depressed than Hiei. His left hand grabbed a bottle of wine and his katana in his right hand. Walking through the woods, he cut everything that was in his way into tiny piece. He was terribly drunk and sad. But he wouldn't allow himself to cry. Not ever. He would leave this depressing place. He would go to Makai, where his wound would be healed. But he knew this one was too deep to be closed. It would leave a scar on him for the rest of his life. Using his sword to balance himself, he took another sip from the bottle. Suddenly, he remembered the sad scene when Romeo was to drink the poison. He gave out a bitter laugh and read the lines out loud from his memory.

"Come, bitter conduct; come, unsavory guide!

Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on

The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark!

Here is to my love!!"

Hiei raised his bottle and drank a big gulp, but then threw the bottle away and snarled loudly, "Stupid human tales!" How he wished that the bottle was poison instead of just plain wine. No! How can I be so depressed! I am Hiei! He ran, as fast as his legs could carry him. And then he jumped and using his sword to cut the leaves and branches into pieces.

"I am Hiei! Nothing could defeat me!!" He yelled and landed in the centre of his mess. He thrusted his sword into the earth, eyes closed, as if to grief.

"Nothing...... could defeat me. Not even you, Kurama." Hiei whispered. He looked up and saw the border between Ningenkai and Makai. He knew that once he crossed the border, Koenma and the others wouldn't find him that easy.

Looking back one more time, Hiei stepped to the other side. Goodbye Kurama.

====================================================================

"Hiei... don't ...leave...me..." Kurama whispered in his sleep as he tossing around on the bed. His voice was full of pleading. Suddenly, Kurama sit up abruptly from his bed. He felt a sudden stab pain at his heart, but didn't know why. He was sweating and depressed without a proper reason. He looked over his side and found it was empty. Where has he gone? Kurama wondered, choking on his fear. Feeling something cold in his palm, he opened it and found a icy black stone shone with cool light. Hiei!

"But where could he be?" Kurama asked with worry. Yuusuke yawned. Everyone of them had slept over at Genkai's temple. But it wasn't even dawn yet. Kurama had dragged them all up from the bed and asked of Hiei.

"Give me a break. You know him, Kurama, he always wonders around like a ghost." Yuusuke said between his series of yawns.

"Then why did he leave this?" Kurama showed them the tear gem.

"Maybe he has decided to seek revenge on that four-eyed monster who stabbed him." Kuwabara suggested. Yukina and Keiko both had worried face on them.

Suddenly a huge wind blew them and Koenma and Botan showed up.

"Whoa! Where did you guys come from?" Kuwabara exclaimed.

"Emergency guys! We have detected that our target is going to destroy that Five Star Tower in a few hours. Whoever that is has been after that tower for a long time."

"But why the Five Star tower?" Yuusuke asked frowning.

"Well, once it destroys the tower, the five star ki within will evaporate and he or she could drink it to increase it's power." Koenma explained.

"And we definitely don't want that to happen. We have difficulty to destroy it as we are now." Botan added.

"This is shit! I mean we have to come up with a plan in the next few hours and now we are shorten with one member..."

"Who is missing?" Botan asked, cutting off.

"Hiei." Koenma said after counting his team. Everybody looked down as if it was their responsibility to keep Hiei around them, and now they let him fled away, it was their fault.

"Where did he go?" Koenma asked.

"That was what we had been talking about while you people just appeared." Kuwabara said.

"Could he have gone back to Makai?" Yukina finally broke the silence.

"Makai?" Kurama blinked, as if thinking for the first time.

"Yeah, you know..." Keiko said softly.

"Well, no matter where he went, we can't wait for him. We will have to plan without him." Koenma said.

"So what's your plan? Koenma-sama? Have you found its weakness yet?" Yuusuke asked.

"Yes. And you won't believe it!" Koenma said excitedly but Kurama only listened with half of his heart. "Okay, here goes. The monster loves beautiful things, even humans. So one of you three have to sacrifice and give to him. So which one of you want to volunteer He looked around and found Kuwabara, Yuusuke, and Kurama were looking at the other direction as if they didn't see him.

"Um... let's see..... err... beautiful humans... err... " Kuwabara acted like he was thinking really hard.

"Yeah... beautiful,... Certainly not me... hahah~" Yuusuke laughed dryly. Both of them turned and looked at Kurama.

"Arr... Can someone tell me why those two idiots are staring at me?" Kurama asked.

"So Kurama. Is it okay with you?" Kurama thought for a moment. Why not? Hiei is not here anymore. Maybe he'd come and rescue me. He nodded.

"Great! Now... we have to lie Kurama on a stage kind of thing up very high, and then the monster will come and get him. You two will have to set webs around the surrounding. And then when Kurama strikes the monster in one of the eyes, you people have to shoot out the web to trap that demon." said Koenma as if it couldn't have been easier.

"Yeah... sounds dame easy enough. So Kurama just has to lie there on the stage and pretend to be sleep?" Yuusuke asked.

"Not really." Koenma said, "You see, the monster is not dumb. If Kurama is sleeping or alive, it will know it a mile away."

"Then what do we do?" Kuwabara asked.

"Don't worry, we have a herb that can be given to Kurama to slow down his heart beats. But he will feel dizziness and coldness. But the herb should be worn off by the minute the monster is going to get him." Koenma paused to let it sink it. Kurama's face turned pale. It is like Romeo and Juliet. Juliet drank the herb to deceive her parents that she was dead, so that she wouldn't have to marry the one she didn't want.......

"Kurama, are you okay?" Yukina asked with concern. They had been to stunned by the plan to say anything. But before Kurama could answer, Yuusuke asked, "Is it going to be dangerous?"

"It shouldn't be if our timing is right. And if someone doesn't screw up the plan." Eyeing Kuwabara, Botan said sarcastically.

"Are you talking about me?" Kuwabara asked with heat.

"Okay, guys, so let's go okay? We have exactly one hour." Koenma announced.

"Oh yeah! Let's go!" Yuusuke yelled.

Pulling Kurama aside, Keiko said, "Kurama-chan. Hiei is safe. Don't worry about it. I am sure he will be back soon. Ne?"

Kurama looked up, and nodded slowly. "Arigato Keiko-chan."

Koenma and Botan and the other three detectives went out to face the grey sky, and to face the great battle.

====================================================================

Hiei was awaken by the sound of thunder. Where am I? He looked around and immediately knew the place. Makai, his home. He looked around and found the border was not far away. He must have fell asleep the moment he stepped into the Makai world. He remembered last night when he left. Sighing, I wonder how they are doing without me. Hiei thought, but quickly snapped himself out of that statement. They probably don't even know I am gone! Besides, it was me who abandoned them. I don't give a shit about them. But he did. He kept wondering if it was the day they were going to find that four-eyed monster. Maybe they needed his help. Maybe he should go back and help them to fight and leave again.

A few crows flew over him and he was surprised by their eager cries. Usually in Makai, a punch of crows flew over and had eager cries, it meant that something bad was going to happen. Hiei began to worry.

"Baka!" He thought to himself. How could he leave them to defeat the monster, especially Kurama. He felt the need to protect him. With that, Hiei began to run back to the way where he came from. Once he was through the border, he took off his wrap that was on his forehead, letting his Jagan show. Almost immediately, he detected their ki, and the monster's. They were at the Five Star Tower! Shit, they are going to fight without me. No time could be wasted. He jumped into the trees and quickly made his way through to the tower.

====================================================================

Kurama was sitting on the high stage near the Five Star tower. Koenma was beside him.

"Here, Kurama." He handed him a small bottle. The bottle was in cylinder shape with transparent glass so that it showed the red portion within. Kurama took it with puzzled look.

"It's the herb. You have to drink it at exactly 6:00... which is 10 minutes away from now. Just to remind you. You should always be on guard. Once you feel the drug is wearing off, you have to grab your weapon and stab on the eyes of that monster. Once that demon loses an eye, its sense will be less sharper." Koenma briefly explained.

"How do I know when the drug will wear off?" Kurama asked.

"Believe me, you will know it. I trust you." With that, Koenma smiled and disappeared, leaving Kurama on the high stage by himself.

Kurama sighed. He looked at the small clock on the bottle. How convenient Five more minutes to six. He looked at the portion carefully. The portion was deep red, like blood, like Hiei's eyes.

"Hiei. Where are you?" He said sadly to himself. A cold breeze blew over, making him shivering like crazy. Why do I have this bad feeling that something is going to happen? Kurama looked around, the sky was turning greyish. The sun had disappeared, and a huge cloud had been spreading itself to cover up the sky. It looked like it was going to rain. He wished like hell that Hiei was here with him. He looked at the time once again. Three more minutes.

====================================================================

"Oi! Kuwabara! Is this tight enough? " Yuusuke asked.

"Yeah. Great. That's enough. Now all we have to do is wait for it to come." Kuwabara said.

"Yep. And now we have to hide. Come on, let's go." Yuusuke said.

Koenma suddenly appeared and said, "Good luck guys! Be careful!"

"Haha! Thanks, Koenma-sama."

====================================================================

Kurama checked his weapons; his rose whip was beside him, and his secret digger was right where he could reach whenever he wanted. Good, I am prepared. He looked at the clock again, but was surprised to find that it was still marked three minutes. Suddenly a lighten struck near him and scared the hell out of him. He nearly jumped out of the stage if it wasn't for his rose whip. He looked at the place where the lighten had struck. Whew! That was close! He grabbed back his portion and looked at the timer. The marker was gone!!

"Oh no! Not right now!!" Kurama wailed. This can't be happening! He couldn't know the time now. He looked down from the stage, trying to find Yuusuke and the others, but they were no where to be found.

"Oh great. This is wonderful." Kurama said. "I guess I have to use my own clock now." So it was three minutes a few second ago. "Maybe I should wait a bit longer," Kurama talked to himself. He began to worry because the time he estimated would be different and inaccurate. But the situation left him no choice. Suddenly, he heard some noise coming nearer and nearer. Oh man, it must be that monster's head!! He quickly opened the bottle. He felt like Juliet. The story had never seemed to leave his mind. I have to drink this portion. But not for my beloved Hiei. Kurama sighed. He felt terrified. Would he really wake up? He now knew why Juliet was afraid of drinking that poison. She wasn't afraid of death but she was afraid that she wouldn't be able see Romeo again. But Kurama didn't dare to think more. Time was wasting and he had to drink it no matter what.

"This is for you, Hiei."

Kurama drank it to the last drop. He could feel the coldness crept on him from his back. The effect was fast. He laid on his back and closed his eyes. Numbness began to swallow him up. He felt his eyes getting heavier and heavier by the second. The last thing he remembered was that his breath was so calm and slow that he thought he was dead for real. But the drug eventually worked, and he fell into unconsciousness.

====================================================================

When Hiei finally arrived the place, he was breathless and tired. He used his Jagan again to detect everyone. He found Yuusuke and Kuwabara; they were hiding in some bush near by. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find Kurama. He began to get anxious. Is something wrong with him?

"Yuusuk..... what the??" Just before he was going to yell for the team, his Jagan picked up a ki that wasn't belong to anyone he knew. And it was coming nearer and nearer. God Damn it. It's coming. Hiei climbed up the tallest tree he could find and searching for the monster. There! What is it doing? Hiei looked closer and found Kurama lying on a stage that was slightly higher than the ground. What's happening? The monster made a move and getting closer and closer to Kurama.

"Kurama!!" But Kurama didn't seem to hear him. And he tried to detect Kurama again and found nothing. Something was really wrong here. He had to save Kurama!!

"I am coming Kurama!" Hiei jumped from the tree and launching toward the monster with his sword.

====================================================================

"Who the hell was that!?" Yuusuke shouted from his tree.

"I have no idea! Wait! I think... it's..." Kuwabara answered while watching the fight.

"Hiei!!" Both of them shrieked together.

Hiei was attacking this demon, but it was always faster than he was.

After a while, he was tired and frustrated. With a flip, he landed on the stage where Kurama was lying on.

"Kurama! Wake up! It's no time to sleep!" Hiei shouted, while using his sword to cut the demon but unsuccessfully. He was shocked to see Kurama's face was so white like a ghost. No! This can't be real. Kurama is not dead. What has that monster done with him!!? Hiei was shattered at the thought.

The four-eyed monster began to multiply and suddenly, there were twenty of them around him.

"Oh, fuck all of you!" Hiei shouted and tried to kill all of them. He ended up being shovelled to another side into one of the bushes, and was caught by a pair of strong arms.

"Hiei! Stop it! Listen to me!" Hiei struggled and finally recognized the voice.

"I don't have time now. Kurama is in danger, Yuusuke!"

"Listen, it's serious okay? You disappeared that was why we couldn't tell you sooner... Kurama is actually,,.."

No... no....This can't be... He can't be dead. He remembered his face was so pale and lifeless. His voice was shaking now.

"Get your fucking hands off me Yuusuke! I don't want to hear it!!" With that, he jumped out and ran to the stage where Kurama was. Unfortunately, the monsters combined into one big demon with four eyes shining like fire. Under the black sky, it looked devilish with green scales. The lighten struck so was the thunder. Hiei just noticed something. It was going after Kurama too.

But Hiei arrived beside Kurama first. He looked at Kurama seriously. He put a finger to feel his pulse but was shocked to find there was none, and skin was cold as ice.

====================================================================

"Kuwabara! Come out! This is getting ugly!" Yuusuke shouted at another bush.

"What's the matter? Have you told Hiei about the plan yet?" Kuwabara came out from the shadow.

" I was going to, but SHIT!! He wouldn't listen to me!!"

"Oh man! Where is Koenma-sama and Botan?"

"I don't know... let's call them by the communicator." Yuusuke held out a his necklace and yelled at it.

"Koenma-sama! Bad news!!"

"What's up Yuusuke? Has Kurama waken yet?"

"Huh?"

"Well, he is supposed to be awake now... " Koenma said nervously.

"Oh man! This is getting more and more like shit! You have to come here immediately!"

"Maybe I was mistaken..."

"No! You don't understand! Hiei rushed in and he wouldn't listen to me when I tried to tell him the plan! And now he is battling the monster alone!" Yuusuke was almost shouting at the little communicator.

"Oh hell! I will be there. Botan! Get ready! We have to go!" And the communication was over.

"Let's just hope that they are not too late. Kuwabara? Kuwabara!!!"

Yuusuke shook his friend, whose eyes were wide with surprise.

"Just watch it yourself Yuusuke." Yuusuke followed the direction Kuwabara showed him.

"Oh Fucking hell!!!"

Kurama! Hiei yelled in his head. This is a dream. Hiei convinced in his mind. This is all a dream! How can Kurama be dead? Was this what Yuusuke tried to tell him?

'This is serious Hiei. We were to tell you this sooner but you had disappeared.'

"NO!!!!!!" Hiei shouted. Holding back his tears, he faced the monster who was coming so near that Hiei could feel its ki.

"You have killed Kurama. You will PAY!!" Hiei pulled out his sword and threw it with all his strength at the monster's head. The sword thrusted perfectly into one of the four eyes of the monster's. The demon screamed and roared with anger, but came closer attempting to grab Kurama. Hiei laughed, "So you want Kurama too? Sorry, HE IS MINE!!"

Hiei took off his wrapper on his arm, letting his black dragon tattoo show. "This will finish you off." Hiei was tired, but he still had to use this last technique. If this wouldn't work, he didn't know what else he could use. "JAO ENSATSU KOKURYHUA!!" The black dragon came alive and glowed with burning fire light. It expanded itself and went after the monster with its fastest speed.

"Hiei! Oh fuck fuck FUCK! He is using his dragon!" Yuusuke said with frustration. "And what the fuck is that Kurama doing? I know we can't trust that herb of Koenma's!!"

"Come on Yuusuke! Get the web so we can trap it if the dragon doesn't work!" Kuwabara shouted. Yuusuke nodded. For once he agreed with him. He got onto the bush where he hid the web's line and signal Kuwabara that if he was ready, then they could pull the line.

The dragon didn't work. The monster was way too fast for it. Hiei quickly summoned the dragon back before his energy was totally spent by it. Unfortunately, it was more difficult than he thought. The monster's claws swooped through him as he jumped away. Now he didn't have a chance against that thing... someone better be here soon or he would be a meal. As if hearing his wish, Yuusuke yelled out loud, "PULL!!!!!!" He and Kuwabara both pulled the rope. The web came together and formed a cage-like shape. The monster was trapped.

"Oh yeah!!" Kuwabara shouted happily. But the monster was still struggling. "It will break the web soon! We have to take our own action. Let's go!" Yuusuke ran to the monster and raised his index finger.

"REI-GUN!!"

"Fire Sword!!!" The two of them attacked the monster together. The demon finally broke down. But before it died, its energy blasted everything near by.

"Ahhh!!!" Yuusuke and Kuwabara were blasted half a mile away and fell into blackness. The monster then disappeared into thin air.

Hiei pushed himself off from Kurama. He had covered him and himself with his black cloak. His energy level was so low that he could barely stand up. So he sit with Kurama. The monster had disappeared, but Kurama was still here, with no pulse, no warmth, no nothing.

"Stupid fox." Hiei said sadly. "What has that monster done to you?" He was at the edge of his tears.

"How can you just leave like this huh? How can you even THINK about leaving me here in this world alone?" Hiei sniffled.

"I thought you were a brave and stubborn person who wouldn't give out his life in any way. I guess I was wrong..." His heart ached with confusion of his emotion and grief.

"Damn you!" Hiei shouted, burying his head in his arms. He couldn't cry anymore. He was too tired to cry.

"I am so sorry Kurama. I wasn't be able to protect you." He leaned over and touched Kurama's white face with caress. "I love you." He whispered. A tear dropped down, a real tear. Hiei sobbed hard. "I know this is too late, but I still have to say it. I have loved you ever since the first time my eyes met yours. I love you, Kurama." He choked on one his sobs. " But I was too scared to admit it. I was too scared that you would run away from me and disappeared." He wiped his face dry, but more tears came falling down.

"And now you are gone, I can't tell you how much I love you."

"I didn't even have a chance to say it. How can you go like this?" He looked at him. His face still looked so alive even though there wasn't any colour on it.

"Kurama..." He called softly, but no reaction. He bent his head and cried for a whole minute. And then he suddenly jerked up. He had just realized something. This was like Romeo and Juliet. It WAS!! That stupid tale had ruined their lives!! It had been a foreshadowing after all. Hiei thought about it bitterly. If it was their lives, why not follow it? He took Kurama's digger and ran through his finger at the edge. He looked at Kurama. "I have nothing in this world to keep me. Death is my only solution."

He kissed Kurama softly as a single tear rolling down his face. "I am coming, my love." He aimed the digger at his chest. Taking a big breath, he thrusted the digger deeply into his heart. He moaned the pain that was so great, and yet it wasn't as great as his broken heart. It didn't take long for him to be taken by death. He fell onto Kurama's chest, into the forever darkness.

The first thing Kurama noticed was that his heart was pounding fast. That must be the signal Koenma was talking about. Yet he felt something different. Something seemed to be on his chest. He opened his eyes and found Hiei's head. He smiled. All the warmth had gone back to his body. He slowly turned Hiei over. But what he found almost knocked him over. "HIEI!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kurama shouted brokenly.

Yuusuke and Kuwabara woke up and found themselves in another bush.

"Oh man. What the fuck had happened?" Yuusuke winced with pain.

"Beats me! I have no idea! Let's find Hiei and Kurama first."

"Yeah..."

Kurama laid Hiei on his back. He softly kissed Hiei on the lips. His lips were still warm. "You killed yourself for me didn't you?" Kurama said softly with solemnly expression, watching his digger on his chest. He closed his eyes, letting tears drop.

"God, Hiei. You can be so silly sometimes. It was only a plan to trick the monster." He blamed him and to himself. He began to cry as pain increased and weighted on his chest.

"It was all my fault. If only I had drunk the portion sooner. If only I had not agreed with Koenma's plan. If only I hadn't met you. If only I could turn back time....... I am so sorry Hiei." Choking on his tears, Kurama touched Hiei's lifeless face.

"Do you know how lonely I will be now that you are gone?" He touched Hiei's face with his own. "Nobody will fight with me anymore. Nobody will refuse me anymore. Nobody will look at me with those two rose-red eyes anymore. Nobody will be angry with me anymore." Kurama turned and looked at him.

"Most of all, nobody will ever love me the way you do." He looked at Hiei sadly.

"My beloved. Please, say something to let me believe that there is still a trace of breath in you, that you are not dead, that you don't want to leave me alone, that you love me." Kurama shook Hiei slightly. When there was no reaction, he gave up; he gave up everything that mattered to him. He remembered the scene where Romeo grieved over Juliet's death, and how broken he was. He now understood why Romeo's heart was hurting so, because he felt the same way.

"I can't ever go back Hiei." Once again tears threatened his eyes. "You know I won't go back and marry the one I don't love. Yukiko means nothing to me. I have tried to tell my Mom that, but she wouldn't listen. Hiei, ......I love you,..... no matter how many times you have refused me or ran away from me, I still love you..... And, ....and I don't care if you are ever going to tell me your true feelings, I still love you." Kurama said with his hoarse voice. He took out a seed from his hair and concentrated on it. It grew into a beautiful purple flower. He took on petal from the flower. He looked at it intensely. He remembered his elder once told him, "This is a very deadly flower's seed. Eat one petal from this flower, you will be dead in no time." The thought made him shiver.

"Hiei, my beloved, wait for me." He brushed Hiei's lips with his own.

The thought of Romeo came back to him.

"Eyes, look your last!

arms, take your last embrace! and lips, O you

The doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss

a dateless bargain to engrossing death!"

Kurama ate the petal and overwhelmed by a sudden bitterness. The drug worked fast. He felt the darkness closing in already.

"O true apothecary!

Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die."

Kurama said with his last breath. He kissed Hiei one last time, and tumbled down, leaving the purple flower on Hiei's chest.

"Oh shit! This place was so fucking messed up!" Yuusuke complained as he stumbled through the falling trees.

"Hey! Isn't that Koenma and Botan?" Kuwabara said suddenly.

"Ah-ha! It is them!" They ran over and met with the other two.

"Yuusuke! Kuwabara! I thought you..... " Koenma's voiced broken.

Botan had tears in her eyes.

"Why? I am still here good and sound!!" Yuusuke said, trying to cheer them up.

"Well, the blast of energy from that monster was so strong, it blocked our path from coming to you guys." Koenma checked Yuusuke and Kuwabara from head to toe by eyeing them. "You guys should consider yourself lucky! That blast of energy could have harm you more than you think." "Wow! We were knocked over about a mile away!" Kuwabara said. "Yeah well... I am going to check on Kurama and Hiei first ne? Ja!" Botan flew away with her broom.

"Oh shit! I almost forgot about them! I think your plan was a total failure. You need improvement, Koenma-sama." Yuusuke grinned.

"Yeah yeah yeah.. thanx.." Koenma replied, brushing him off.

"AHHHHHH!!!!!!!" A sharp crying scream came from ahead. They all tensed a second, before running to the voice with fast pace.

"What's the matter, Botan?" Koenma asked before he saw what happened.

They all stopped and uttered soft gasps. Hiei was lying on the ground with a digger into his chest and Kurama was leaning over onto Hiei's other half of chest. Both faces were white and ghostly like.

"What's going on here!!" Yuusuke choked out.

"........" no one dared to reply. Everybody except Yuusuke knelt down beside them like stones, not quite sure whether or not should they accept the reality. Yuusuke paced around like crazy around the two dead body. His hands covering his head as he began to sob. He suddenly ran toward Koenma and grabbed him by the collar and yelled, "It's all your fault! It's all your goddamn fault!!" Koenma was too stunned by the tragedy and by Yuusuke's heated temper. Botan was crying softly, so was Kuwabara. "W-why?"

"Let me tell you why." Yuusuke said through his teeth. "I KNOW what had happened the minute I saw those two dying like this! There was something wrong with the timing for the herb you gave to Kurama, and Hiei thought he was dead for real. He killed himself. When Kurama woke up and found out, he went after Hiei too." Yuusuke said, choking on his tears. He shook Koenma hard, "And it's all your stupid herb! Your stupid goddamn fucking drug!!! You bastard!!"

Koenma stared at him, but said nothing. A few seconds later, Yuusuke released him and went to the other direction.

"Wait!... We can go and take them back. Can't we Koenma-sama?" Botan asked though her teary eyes.

Koenma turned his head and looked sadly at Botan.

"What does that supposed to mean?" Kuwabara asked hoarsely.

"They are not really human. I can only bring back human's lives. Kurama was half youko and half human. Hiei was a demon from Makai. They can't be brought back." Koenma shook his head. "I am sorry. There is nothing I can do."

====================================================================

"Have you talked to Kurama's mother about his death yet? Yuusuke-chan?"

Keiko asked softly. The boy shook his head slowly.

Everybody had gathered in Genkai's temple a few hours after Yuusuke and the others brought back the two bodies. They cleaned the wounds and cleaned the two dead people's clothes, so that they could at least look better. The air in the temple was so condensed with depression, that Yuusuke found it was hard to breath. They had laid their body in a special room. They were sitting around it and thinking how could they tell Kurama's mom about this.

Yukina wiped off a tear gem. Everybody looked so miserable that their heart ached.

====================================================================

"Where am I?" Kurama wondered out loud, murmuring, trying to cover his eyes from the bright light. No matter what kind of place this was, it sure had tons of sunlight and great fresh natural scent and stillness. It was not too cold, and not to warm. It was like heaven. Am I in heaven? Kurama thought to himself. His eyes were still closed, but he could feel the softness and comfort under him. It was a bed full of rose petals. Suddenly, he felt something snuggled against him. He opened his eyes and was shocked.

"Hiei!" He called out with a surprise. Hiei stirred and opened his eyes as well.

"Kurama!?" Hiei gasped. Both of them sit bolt straight, staring at each other with unspeakable emotions flowing around them. Nothing more to be said, they held each other tightly and never let go. Finally, Kurama broke the hug and looked deeply into Hiei's deep red eyes.

"Silly, why did you kill yourself? It was only a plan." Kurama blamed him half-heartedly. Hiei leaned his head on Kurama's chest.

"I... I couldn't bare the thought of losing you, Kurama...... I..."

Hiei was beginning to choke on his tears, but Kurama only held him tighter. He was amazed by Hiei's true feelings.

"Shh... don't say it. I know." Kurama patted and ran his fingers through HIei's short spiky hair. They stayed like that for a while, feeling each other in each other's arms.

"Kurama." Hiei said softly.

"Hum?" Kurama replied.

"Do you know where we are?" Hiei asked, lifted up his head to face Kurama's handsome face. Kurama's face became thoughtful for a moment and then he broke into a grin.

"Why, on a rose petals bed in this wonderful forest of course," Kurama teased with a smile. Hiei, growled.

"You just can't take anything seriously, do you?"

"I seriously don't care where we are, as long as I have you in my arms." Kurama said sincerely. Hiei stared at him for a moment, and then gave out one of his rare smiles. Kurama titled up his chin as he inched his face closer.

"I love you, Hiei." He whispered, and gave Hiei a long tender kiss.

Suddenly, somewhere came out of applause and laughter. The two lovers were shocked. They broke the kiss quickly and turned to see who. Just then, an even much more brilliant light shone through from the above. The light was so strong that the two people had to cover their eyes to prevent the temporary blindness. They slowly opened their eyes when the light faded away. And then Kurama gasped.

"Inari?" He managed to spurt out. The God of the Fox smiled. It looked like a female, but looked like male at the same time. Hiei was puzzled.

"Yes, Kurama. It is I." The voice was so soft and melodic.

"What are you doing here?" Kurama asked.

"I came, to help you fulfil you and your friends' wish." Inari smiled.

Kurama looked at Hiei and Hiei looked back at Kurama.

"You must know that both of you are dead now, and.."

"WHAT!??" Hiei cried out. "I am the only one here who is dead! What are you talking about??" Hiei said angrily, staring at Inari and Kurama. Inari smiled. "No. Your Kurama ate one of those deadly flowers once he found out you were dead. He sacrificed his life for you."

Hiei blinked. He looked back at Kurama whose face were red.

"Kurama.....you killed yourself for me?" Hiei whispered with sadness in his eyes.

"You didn't think I could live alone without you, did you?" Kurama explained softly. Hiei looked at him intensely, and then put his arms around him. Once again, they were in a embrace.

"Um-hum" Inari interrupted. The two love birds separated and then blushed. "You two made me realized what is the true love. And I hate sad endings. I am going to send the two of you back to your bodies."

"I... I don't know what to say, Inari." Kurama said with gratefulness.

"Then don't. You have always been one of my favourite fox in this world.

You are like my son. So pretend this is my gift to you. Cherish it." Inari said softly.

"Thank you." Hiei said with all his heart.

"Thank you." Kurama repeated. And then, with brilliant lights spread out, they disappeared.

====================================================================

Yuusuke stood up and walked to the door.

"Where are you going?" Keiko asked with concern. Yuusuke turned.

"I am going to take a walk, before...."

"What?" Keiko asked with tense.

"Everybody look!!" Yuusuke shouted with excitement. The two bodies on the floor were glowing with golden light. Then within a minute, the wounds on the bodies were gone.

"What the??" Koenma said. Kuwabara was robbing his two red puffy eyes. Kurama opened his eyes first. He sat up with new glint in his two deep eyes. He smiled at the people around him.

"Kurama!!" Everybody shrieked with happiness.

"Damn you Kurama! You had me scared!!" Yuusuke hugged him tightly.

Everybody then came up and hugged him with excitement joy

"Hiei." Kurama finally said. Everybody turned and looked at the stillness of the other body.

"I am sorry, Kurama...Hiei is still..." But Kurama held up a hand mention Koenma to stop. He leaned over and kissed Hiei softly on the lips. Suddenly, Hiei woke up. He flattered his eyes open and looked into Kurama's eyes.

"I thought I was dreaming." Hiei said. And he sat up and looked around. Everybody was staring at them with their jaws on the floor.

"Hey, you don't get rid of us that fast." Hiei joked with his sarcastic tone. Everybody laughed. It seemed everything was back to normal again.

====================================================================

Kurama just came back from the school. He was surprised that nobody remembered about his engagement with Yukiko. Maybe Ianir did something to make them forget. Kurama smiled. He found a message in the kitchen. "Shuiichi-chan:

My friend is sick and she needs someone to take care of her. So I probably won't be back until tomorrow night. Your food is in the fringe. I will be back as soon as possible. Don't worry. Take care. I trust you. Ja.

Your Mom."

Kurama laughed. What a great opportunity! If he only he could catch Hiei now... then the night would be theirs. He thought happily as he walked into his room.

"Oh!" He gasped softly as he found Hiei slept on his arms on his desk. He sighed and walked over and lifted him up and put him gently onto the bed. He went back to his desk and discovered a long poem:

Realization of True Love

I used to be so afraid of relationship

Because of the word forever.

That's why I am so distanced.

That's why I am acting tough.

I used to be so afraid of love

Because of the idea of eternity.

That's why I've kept myself to myself.

That's why I've caged my heart inside of my soul.

I tried to be hard as a stone.

I was afraid to let go.

I have spent my entire life building up a barrier,

To prevent anybody coming near my heart.

To hide my real emotion within.

But it was you,

Who opened up my mind;

Who saw my hiding soul;

Who stole my ice cold heart;

Who taught me real love.

One glimpse of your eyes, from your eyes,

My barrier shuddered into million pieces.

You broke the ice wall around myself.

I may seem like an icy stone

I may try to act tough

But my heart is much weaker than a snow flake.

The long term loneliness has rusted my heart.

I don't want to take it anymore.

My mind is crying out for you.

It says silently: Please set me free

Just when I thought I could never love,

You appeared in front of me,

Assuring me of every tenderness.

You shone the light through my dark tunnel.

You revived my heart,

When I thought it had already been burned into ashes so long ago.

I can't deny,

The great feeling that's hiding inside.

I long for every single touch from you.

I long for every soothing word from your heart.

But I have been scared.

Scared of love.

Scared of tears.

When you tried to hold on to me

I broke and struggled to be free

I was scared of you

Afraid that you might disappear from me

Just like ice that can never last.

But that's when you showed me the real definition of eternity

The word that bonds love ones together throughout their lives.

It's not a trap as I thought it was.

That's when I actually saw the clear sky

Like a blind person finally sees the light.

Through your kisses,

Sealing off your promises,

Bonding our souls together,

I know I will never be lonely again.

Not ever.

"Oh....God... Hiei.." Kurama closed his eyes. He was feeling way beyond touched. He put the paper down and sat down at the edge of his bed, beside Hiei. Kurama bent down and kissed him.

"Kurama?" Hiei murmured sheepishly.

"Thank you." Kurama said softly.

"For what?" Hiei was awake now.

"For the poem." He smiled at Hiei's blushing face.

"It's not for you." He snapped. Kurama was amused.

"Oh? And who is it for Hiei?" Kurama bent down and starting to kiss Hiei's neck.

"It's... it's for someone I love." Kurama stopped dead in his track. He faced Hiei again. "Who do you love?" Smiling, Kurama asked, knowing the answer already.

"Who else?" Hiei growled and averted Kurama's watchful eyes.

"I... I...love..." Hiei was trying to say simple three words, but stammered through them. But Kurama put his lips on his.

"Don't say it." Kurama smiled, a truly happy smile. Hiei looked at him, confused.

"Some words are better to be left unsaid." Kurama whispered.

Hiei looked at him and then broke into a big smile. They lips locked into a deep passionate kiss.

:Kurama, promise I will never be alone again:

:Not ever, Hiei. I promise. Not ever:
