Diary - Day 24

POKEMON GOLD PROGRESS... ENTRY 24

NEW POKEMON

Lots!

Caught, Hatched, or Evolved:

Pii (#173), a super cute baby Pippi, hatched from an egg created by two Pippis (Clefairies).

Kamawari (#192), a smiley-faced walking Daisy Pokemon, evolved from the Himanattu by using a Sun Stone.

Nyuura (#215), an odd-looking dual-type Evil / Ice Pokemon resembling a Nyarth crossed with an insect. Saw one before in a battle, but only today found one- it only comes out at night.

Yogiras (#246), a dual-type Rock/Ground Pokemon, who looks like a squat upright lizard with a horn on his head.

Seen in battles:

Octan (#224), an octopus Pokemon.

By the way, I forgot to mention- and correct- that Lugia (#249) is officially a dual-type ESP/Flying Pokemon who can use Water, Flying, AND Psychic attacks. He "rocks" rather nicely, thank you.

MORE ON "MOO-MOO"

First thing today, I decided I wanted to finish the Miltank-event before I went to Shirogane yama. So I went to three different kinomi ["life fruit"] trees, collected three fresh kinomi, then scooted back to visit "Moo-Moo" the Miltank (yep, that's really his name) at the dairy farm. Once these three kinomi were fed to him, his "moo" returned to normal and the little girls were happy.

In gratitude, the farmer's wife gave me Wazamachine 13, and the farmer sold me some of Moo-moo's highly prized Pokemon milk for 500 yen. (Side note- when you first meet the farmer, this guy rather humorously tells you how great milk is for you and Pokemon, and how much he loves it- I almost expected him to say "Milk nomimasuka?" [my version of "Got milk?"] <g>.) Moo-Moo's Milk (that's how it's listed in the item list, BTW) has benefits to Pokemon, restoring 100 HP per swig. I don't know for sure, but I gathered that I can go back to the farm periodically (probably once a day, if that) to buy more milk.

NEW EVOLUTION STONE

So far, I've found two "Tsuki no Ishi" (Moon Stones) and of course we know they work with Pippis and Purins (Clefairies and Jigglypuffs). I've also come across three new stones, but of these, only one appears to be an Evolution Stone. The others can be assigned to Pokemon for later use or, perhaps, are useful in battles.

This new evolution stone is the "Taiyou no Ishi"- the Sun Stone, which I won as first prize in the Bug Catching Contest that's held at the Park weekly (I did that again yesterday and not only wiped the competition with one of every bug caught, but got to keep a Strike [Scyther]).

This stone may evolve other Pokemon, but the only one I noted so far that it would work with is a Himanattu (#191), which it evolved into a Kamawari.(#192)

NEW HATCHLING

I went back to Otsukiyama today and caught a male Pippi (Clefairy), then took the Aqua-Gou back to Asagi City (choosing to battle some rather strong trainers who were on the ship this time, including two Elite Trainers, and some new Pokemon). I dropped the pair of Pippis (the female from yesterday and the male from today) at the Breeding Center, tooled around a bit, then went back and picked up the egg (and deposited the Pippis back in the PC). Once it hatched, out popped a VERY cute miniature Pippi-precursor, the "Pii" (#173). Pii comes with
four attacks- "Hataku", "Amaeru", "Encore", and "Sing".

ON TO SHIROGANEYAMA...

After doing the odd things listed above, I flew back to Tokiwa City and took the shortcut through Champion's Gate towards Shiroganeyama.

When I exited the shortcut, I found that you exit onto an open plain at the foot of the mountain which has lots of grassy plains and bodies of water- yet not as big a variety of Pokemon as I'd have hoped. During the day, most of what inhabits the grasses appears to be Donphan, Ponytas, Gallops (Rapidashes), and Monjaras (Tangelas)- with Nyoromo (Poliwags) in the water and a few Koiking (Magikarp). During the night, Nyuura appear as well. There's a house you can cut your way to and receive another Wazamachine, and a solitary Pokemon Center near the mouth of a cave.

When I entered the cave, I needed Flash, and found a few items as well as roving Pokemon (mostly at level 40-45, except for the Yogiras, who was at level 20). Several more important items require you to go up waterfalls and enter side caves to get them, but there's really only one direct path you follow to progress.

Finally, I came out of a cave mouth and saw that I'd actually arrived at the top of the mountain. I crossed a stone bridge, and saw an elevated set of terraces with stairs leading to the topmost level... so I followed the steps upwards, and came upon a solitary Trainer... the "Greatest Trainer of All", as the Rival had called him- whose sprite looks exactly like mine...

The trainer keeps his back turned until you approach him and you push the B button to initiate conversation. However he turns, says nothing- a dialogue box full of "....... ......"- then a battle began immediately...

And I smiled to myself as I saw who the trainer was and read his name...

If you haven't already guessed who this Trainer is, I'll let the suspense simmer a bit. Check out the details of my grueling battle, the particulars, and how it all turned out tomorrow <g>. And what happens next!
