HSBC Centre.
105metres. 25 storeys. Completed 1983.
Up to 1998, this building was Colonial Mutual headquarters until
the HSBC moved in. Having once been Colonial Mutual, their old headquarters
was across the road.
Now the Manor Apartments (right), this was once Brisbane's tallest
building at 40metres (50metres with Plant Room) behind the City Hall at
85metres. Formerly the Colonial Mutual Life building, it was
designed by Hennessy and Hennessy and was the city's most imposing example
of thirties high-rise office construction.
