Takeuchi Naoko
On March 15, 1967, Takeuchi Naoko was born in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.
Takeuchi spent much of her life in that area, living with her mother, Ikuko, her father, Kenji, and her younger brother, Shingo. (Sound familiar? ^^)

Takeuchi wrote her first manga stories while still in middle school. She considers her three years
spent as a sailor-suited middle school student as a special time during which she entered into adulthood.
(The importance of those years is reflected in 'Sailormoon,' as Takeuchi incorporates the ubiquitous sailor-style
school uniform into the story of a young girl growing up).
After Takeuchi graduated from Kyoritsu Chemical University, specializing in medical electronics and ultrasound,
she didn't have much time to devote to writing manga. However, after releasing such stories as 'Love Call' (for which she won Koudansha's New Manga Artist Award), Takeuchi decided to become a full time manga artist (although, if she ever changes her mind, she still is a licensed pharmacist and medical examiner =).
Recently, after a falling out with Koudansha (who lost her original manga transcripts), Takeuchi left her longtime publisher and boss Osabu (Osa-P).
Her series 'PQ Angels' has been left unfinished as well.
Following a year long break from the very demanding schedule she followed while writing 'Sailormoon' and 'PQ Angels,' Takeuchi is releasing a new series of comic essays entitled 'Princess Takeuchi Naoko's Return to Society Punch!!' published by Shueisha in the monthly manga magazine, Young You. These funny and silly illustrated narratives (released in December 1998, and January 1999) describe the recent events in her life (such as her experience with Kodansha, and her June 6, 1999 marriage to shounen manga artist Togashi Yoshihiro :)
