I started a new music video today, which I guess shows that I'm finally getting comfortable in my new settings. And for those of you who worry about such things (and you know who you are as well as I do) don't worry that I might be neglecting my schoolwork to work indulge in my hobbies, because before I got started on my video, I studied for five freaking hours. That was how long it took me to go back and review the previous kanji lessons in our book, as well as take care of today's homework. By the end I was getting ready to gnaw off my wrist at the shoulder if for nothing else than to separate myself from my pencil. I suppose it could have been worse, but right now, I really can't imagine how. Actually, yes I can. I could be just starting my homework right now, which would mean I'd be getting finished just in time to get up.
I think I'm going to be sick.
I think that this weekend is going to be one of my most highly anticipated ever, if only because it's going to mean a break from the nigh relentless assault of foreign language learning. I took them seriously when they
(who are they? I don't know, I thought that you did) told me that I could expect four hours of study a day, but in practice, well, four hours is really a lot. Especially when you sit your butt down and go through it all at once. I've more or less spent the last two days hanging around the Centre (hold on, I'm having some bad Pretender flashbacks) because after classes and studying, it's either been too late to head out, or I've just felt too overwhelmed and overdrawn to venture out to where I can put my classroom acquisitions to use.
At least I'm getting plenty of sleep, and waking up early isn't a problem. Because there's no daylight savings, it gets bright fairly early here, so I usually wake up at four, then again at five, and once more at six just for good measure (my alarm is set for six thirty, btw). I've finally gotten used to sleeping on a futon, although my solution to the fact that it's simply too thin and too hard can probably be considered novel at best. First, I folded the futon mattress in half lengthwise, and then I did the same thing to the comforter. Sleeping on top of both is marginally soft enough to be comfortable, but as of last night feels just fine. Although, just between you, me, and the secure confidentiality of the Internet, I rather regret that my small air mattress went pop, because although I've found compromise with the futon, I think I'm always going to prefer a western style sleeping arrangement.
