Suddenly, Xellos stepped out of the shadows and shooed the bats away. He said that they were his little pets, and asked if they made a nice addition to his little establishment. What establishment might this be? Why, the Mazoku Bed-and-Breakfast!
Deciding that it wouldn't hurt to rest a while, I plopped down on a sleeping bag, while Xellos went off to fix something to eat.
Gourry poked me on the shoulder and asked, "Hey, do you think Xellos is up to something? I mean, since he's a Mazoku and all."
Something about that statement struck me as odd. I finally realized that Gourry was speaking English, yet had referred to Xellos as a "Mazoku" rather than a "Monster". This was the dub, right?
Just to make sure, I pulled out a remote control and rewould Gourry to listen to his dialogue again. I played back the previous statement, and sure enough, he said "Mazoku". I shrugged and let it pass, deciding that it was nice that the dubbers finally decided to keep the original term.
