Buck-Tick was one of the first popular visual bands formed in Japan. Their famous song "aku no hana" inspired countless younger artists who are just beginning to get popular now. They're best known for their tall hair (especially Toll!) and songs like "JUST ONE MORE KISS" (1988) and "sasayaki" (1997). B-T usually has a dark or mysterious image and their songs always seem very clear, sharp, and powerful. One thing to note about their songs is that they're always extremely melodic. B-T formed in Gunma, Japan, and have a whole epic history to their career. In recent years they haven't been very popular but their new style is still as thoughtful and beautiful as it's ever been.

 ATSUSHI (Euro-Atsushi, Sci-Fi Atsushi, normal Atsushi!! ^_^))

Atsushi writes most of B-T's lyrics. When he joined the band, he was actually the drummer, but then he changed to vocal, being replaced by Toll. Atsushi is REALLY, REALLY GOOD LOOKING!!!!! (^___^) There's even a manga character based on him- the singer Nanba Kouji from the infamous "BRONZE" and "Zetsuai" serieses. (Only diff is that Atsushi's not gay... as far as we know.) The first time I saw the "JUST ONE MORE KISS" PV my jaw totally dropped to the ground!!! Atsushi looks INCREDIBLE in that video!! I'm sure plenty of girls fell in love at first sight. (LOL I remember last time I mentioned Atsushi to my friend she went "mmmmMMMmmmm....") In the 80's B-T all used to have really tall hair and wore really weird 18th century-ish suits and stuff... gaudy sequins too. In that period Atsushi used to wear purple makeup that made him look like an alien. (*o*) I call this "sci-fi Atsushi".There was also a period (around the release of "dress") where Atsushi wore all black and had long flowing hair with lots of pretty makeup.. the only thing is Atsushi's face is REALLY masculine so he looked like a drag queen.. (^^;;;) Atsushi's voice is really deep and sometimes harsh. During slower songs his voice takes on a sad, hurt sound.

Atsushi also looks like Kazushi, the vocal of Rouage, who also used to have long black hair and dark makeup. (Atsushi's face is a lot more angular though.)

 HISASHI

Hisashi writes almost all of B-T's songs and some lyrics. You'll seldom see Hisashi without "B-T" or "Buck-Tick" written on his left cheek. Hisashi is usually REALLY thin and tends to have unflattering hair. (^^;;) Also on the cover of "miu" you can see that one of his eyes is bigger than the other. He's also designed a number of popular guitars that look absolutely amazing!! (I want one!!) Hisashi doesn't seem to be the most stable person in the world, but I think that just may be why he's such a great musician.

It's off the subject but Hisashi reminds me of this guy at school... they both resemble drowned rats... (x_X)

 HIDE

Hide.. then and now

Hide (short for Hidehiko) plays the acoustic guitar in songs like "Jupiter". When B-T was formed and they needed a vocal, Hisashi told Hide to sing because he was good looking. (I think Atsushi's better tho...) But Hide had a passion for the guitar and was determined to play it.

I don't know too much about Hide but he kinda reminds me of ToyoEtsu... (Toyokawa Etsushi is a Japanese actor) LOL!! Actually Hide is a lot nicer looking. (^_^) ToyoEtsu looks so stoic all the time.

 U-TA (nice hair!!)

U-ta is the bass player of B-T. I know almost NOTHING about U-ta though!! (>_<) His bass skills are pretty good. Sometimes if you see an old B-T pic you might mistake U-ta for Toll because they both have tall black hair and look a little bit alike. (OK not really but...) The only way you can tell them apart is that U-ta is really short. (^^;;) No offense, U-ta... but there's a pic of B-T where they're all standing next to each other and it's like Toll and Hisashi are the same height, Hide's a bit taller than Atsushi, and then in the middle there's U-ta looking kinda tiny... (^o^;;;;)

But I think in the tall hair days U-ta's hair was the best because it looked so neat and clean. (^_^) Toll's and Hisashi's were kinda... gross looking...

 TOLL

Toll took the role of drums in B-T after Atsushi decided to sing. He doesn't like to talk about his personal life because he's a musician and not a TV personality... but hey, he's not a model either, he doesn't have to have the huge hair... (^^;;) Toll has really long facial features and usually he's easy to recognize. In recent years he's always shown with a beard and a top hat with insanely tall spikes sticking out of the top, sometimes accompanied by dark feathers. But, aha!! I found out the secret of the spiky hair!! (even though it's no big secret) Toll ties the bottom layer in a thin ponytail and then spikes only the top layer of his hair so it's not all heavy and ready to collapse like it does when i try to do it. (^^;;) In 1999 I think Toll played drums for Hotei Tomoyasu's "Bambina" performance on Hey!3. Otherwise it was just some other drummer with 6 inches of hair spiking out of his hat.

I have one song's lyrics in romanji up on this site- "JUST ONE MORE KISS"! Try singing it at karaoke next time! they'll have it there!!!

Also I have the JOMK CD single.. have you ever seen a really old Japanese single? It's the small one with the long package but it's really old school... you break off the bottom plastic part and fold the paper over into some slots... (^^;;;) and the lyrics are on the back cover....
