Xelloss

Konnichi wa! Or in Ye Olde Englishe, good day and good morrow to thee. This

is a friendly sort of person (presumably), as he always walks around with an

amused smile. Perhaps a slightly condescending smile. But it's a grin

nontheless... he wears a simple cut of purple hair, long and straight, bangs

sometimes covering his eyes (which are usually closed). He strolls around in

travelling robes, clearly a man of the road, complete with a walking staff with

a fine ruby set atop. Over one shoulder is slung a pack that rattles every now

and then, containing juggling toys, books and pens, and some props and costume

things... he's a travelling entertainer, it seems. The man smiles, and waves

to you politely when you look. And sizes you up for some purpose..

>Xelloss leaves the town, heading southward along the road.

Northern Road at Darra

South of you lies only the winding roadway and rolling hills. But to the

north stands Darra Village, a growing community which began as a simple

cluster of farmsteads some two centuries past. Now it is a fine little town

with a population of hundreds. A thin, rippling blue-gray stream separates you

from the village, but a fat little bridge will help you easily traverse that

obstacle.

Great North Road

The imperial highway is well used, and a bit rutted by the rains and the many

laden carts which travel this broad roadway daily to engage in commerce,

travel, or other affairs of the so-called civilized world. Then there are

those who are not so civilized. Southeast of here, a few leauges distant, you

can make out a dark expanse of woods. Green rolling hills give way to sere

yellow grasslands far to the west, met on the horizon by silent, brooding

mountains. A day's walk to the north lies the village of Darra, where most

local farmers and craftsmen trade their goods and carry on the simple lives

they lead. Of course... we all know it's not quite that simple, don't we?

You head south and finally reach the crossroads.

Crossroads

One way or the other, travellers find their way to these crossroads. Your own

journey, wether through destiny or coincidence, has brought you to where these

roads meet.. or perhaps to where the roads begin. These well-worn roads lead

off in four prominent directions.. The northward path is perhaps the most

promising and most used. The dark silhouette of a town can be seen on the

horizon, standing out against the sky. The eastern path can hardly be called a

road; it is a path cutting through a dense woods, and disappearing between the

trees. Few travellers take this route for fear of the thieves rumored to live

within the forest. To the west, a lonely highway wears a trail through the

grasslands vanishing into the dark shadows of the mountains. Like the

northward path, the way south is much used. It leads to the harbour town at

the edge of the ocean, a busy center of trade and business. There can be no

guarantee of where exactly the path you choose will lead, but one should not

wait for fate to guide them through but journey out to boldly meet it.

>17 has apparently come to an impasse regarding which direction to travel. He

stands off to one side with a huge sack carried over his right shoulder and

contemplates east, north, and west without seeming to reach any decisions. He

accepts the presence of other people here as a matter of course. He makes no

move to enter a conversation, but simply takes in each of them before returning

to the matter that troubles him.

Piercing eyes of frigid, unforgiving blue with an unusual almond shape flay you

of pretense and take your measure while a small and delicate mouth curls into a

smirk. His face is unnatural in its perfection, his features at once cruelly

hard and delicately soft, the latter being a most deceptive impression. His

straight, silky black hair is cut just below his jawline and frames his

handsome face. Occasional glimpses of his ears reveal that each is pierced with

a small golden hoop.

Neither tall nor short and with the narrow-shouldered build of a slender,

atheltic youth, he carries himself with an air of restrained aggression. His

bearing and demeanor are those of an impending storm that creates an atmosphere

of contagious tension, securing him a considerable degree of personal space.

He'd be beautiful if he smiled, but that's at the bottom of his list of

priorities.

An orange bandana is tied around his neck, with its tapering peak serving

as the only thing covering his smooth, lightly muscled chest. The oversized,

creme-colored shirt of threadbare material he wears does little to cover him,

as it flutters open and untucked to literally hang off his shoulders and show

the firm but smooth contours of his chest and belly. The tails of his shirt

hang well past his waist and tend to be picked up by whatever breeze comes

along. The sleeves are extreme in their volume, completely swaddling his arms.

Torn scraps of cloth bind them above his wrists, with the tatters dangling down

past his fingertips.

Not content with merely one belt, he wears at least three crisscrossed

about his waist. Someone else's worn and faded grey leather riding pants

loosely sheath his legs, closely following his shape, with a rip on his left

thigh reveals a glimpse of more evenly tanned skin. The material gathers in

soft wrinkles at his waist and knees, and above the ill-fitting brown boots

he's stuffed his feet into, a size too big and laced tightly to compensate.

>Xelloss notices, and feels free to interrupt 17's thinking. "There's a lovely

tavern to the north, good sir, if you're bored." n.n

>17 turns his attention to Xelloss, affording him more detailed scrutiny without

any change to his blandly detached expression. "Oh. I wasn't looking for one of

those."

>Xelloss says, "What are you looking for? n.n"

>17 takes a moment to provide an answer to this question. It's as if he'd frozen

in place for a second or two, and he continues to look through Xelloss

unblinkingly. After a moment he unlimbers the sack from his shoulder and holds

it up with one hand. "Someone who knows how to repair things. I have something

that's broken."

>Xelloss mmms. "Hard to find. Wish I could said I knew someone like that."

>17 nods. "I haven't found one yet."

>Xelloss says, "Best of luck. n.n"

>Cloud shrugs in his somewhat-annoying non-committing way. "..."

>17 doesn't even give that much of a reaction. He assumes the conversation has

ended, so he turns his gaze westward as though pondering his prospects in that

direction. He still forgets to blink.

>Xelloss watches, amused. n.n

>Cloud . o O ( ... ... ... I guess the tavern is better then standing around.

Maybe I can find employment there. )

>17's attention sweeps northward again, and he re-shoulders the sack (which he'd

been holding out demonstratively, and forgot about) as he tentatively embarks

on a trek in that direction.

>Seventeen wanders northward.

>Seventeen has left.

>Cloud decides to head north as well. Better then standing around here wasting

time, at least.

>Xelloss applauds the decision. n.n

>Cloud gives Xelloss a... very odd... look as he trudges off.

Utena

Pupilless deep, crystal blue eyes shine out from a face unblemished by

frowns, lines, visible fear or doubt- only tranquility, framed in freshly

lustrous feathered pastel-pink hair. The girl you glance at carries

herself with pride. Petite though she is, she stands with confidence

and noble bearing, ready to take on the world. Her left hand rests on her

hip; a silver signet rests on her ring finger, a thick ring that

calls to mind the seal of a noble lord; perhaps her token of nobility, a

proof of her lineage?

A prized black jacket, tailored and constructed in a style somewhere

between medieval and Restoration, adorns and defines her slender

frame. A row of gold buttons moves down from high collar to waist;

a flash at Utena's throat reveals a large squarecut emerald set in gold,

connected to two gold braids, one draping in front and one on back of her

right shoulder. Her epaulets resting above her shoulders are made of red

glass or ruby. The cuffs of the jacket are white, and doublesized, edged

with red trim and pinned in place with ruby buttons; crisply folded

white gauzy fabric forms a kind of underskirt sandwiched between her

jacket and a pair of red leggings covering her slim legs below. At her

side is belted a black sheath with a gold and black hilt; the sheath and

hilt show signs of frequent use. Her feet are covered by worn, and sturdy

black leather drawstring boots that end just below the knee.

Carrying:

Large brown leather knapsack

>Xelloss says, "Hello. n.n"

>Cloud sits at the bar, slouching forward rather uncouthly, and quietly

indulging in saturating his brain with alcohol.

>Utena stifles a yawn, shifting a large brown knapsack on her shoulder, walking

slowly away from the inn, where she spent the night.

>Xelloss relaxes at a table.

>Utena smiles, acknowledging the greeting. "Hello."

>Xelloss asks, "How do you do, good lady?"

>"Well, sir, and yourself?" responds the girl with a cheerful low voice.

>Cloud glances at Utena, responding to the discussion with a shrug.

>Xelloss says, "Oh, quite good. Had a very productive day."

>Utena ohs? and swings the heavy sack from her back onto a wooden table nearby,

curious, pupilless blue eyes fixing on Xelloss while she unclasps a pocket of

the bag and rummages through it.

>Xelloss says, "Had some business to take care of. Think it went rather well...

but I failed to introduce myself! I am Xelloss. Travelling performer, currently

working at The Hive."

>Utena bows with a mild grin. "Utena. I'm a traveller myself..." She swings her

leg over a low wooden chair and sits, resting her hands on her knees.

>Cloud replies, "............."

>Xelloss ohs? "What sort of work do you do?" He leans forward, interested. Must

better conversation here than with other nearby options.

>Utena gives a shy little grin and gazes at the floor for a moment, slender hand

touching the back of her neck. "I.. help people. That's the easiest way to put

it, sir. I've made my living moving around, and helping people. Sometimes it's

just farm chores, milking the cows or what have you, and sometimes it's a bit

more than that.. sometimes it's defending someone against bandits... Things of

that nature."

>Xelloss ahhhs... "Do a good deed every day. How very extrodinary, in these

times!" He smiles.

>Cloud speaks up, "... Interesting." He doesn't seem all that sincere, but, hey,

at least you know he isn't dead now.

>Utena nods quietly. "It's very much because of that that I decided to make that

my work." She brushes her hand lightly along one of the buttons of her jacket.

"I don't have anything except what others give me.. so the more I do for

others, the easier it is for me to live." She glances at Cloud, with a pitying

glance.

>Xelloss looks aside at Cloud. "Seems there's a dire need for your unique

talents nowadays..." and back to Utena. "Very humble of you. Mm. Perhaps I

could use some aid down the line... I'll have to look you up."

>Utena says, "I hope that you will," Utena replies with another little smile.

"Though, I wonder if you might know of something that I need... I've been.. for

some time.. searching for a man... a man in white, with brown skin, and

lavender-colored hair... a Prince... he rode a powerful white horse..." Her

lips purse. "I don't suppose you might ever have seen such a person?"

>Cloud shakes his head. "... Can't claim to have met him."

>Xelloss asks, "I'm the only person I know with lavendar hair, m'lady. Terribly

sorry. ...is he of value to you?"

>Utena gazes at the heavy silver ring adorning her left hand, and nods slowly.

"I just want to meet him again, once more. It was when I was a very small child

that I met him for the first time. He gave me this ring... and so.. I hoped to

see him again some time."

>Xelloss notes the ring carefully, and nods. "I'm sure you will. Things just..

work. Take it from an expert."

>Cloud pays attention to that, though he shows no outward sign of doing so.

>Utena beams. "That's what I hope, every day."

>Xelloss says, "You should be careful openly displaying such valuable things,

however. There are thieves in this land."

>Utena tilts her head slightly, innocently. "I've never had a serious problem."

She pats the sheathed sword hanging from a belt at her side. "And I'm not

entirely helpless. Though I appreciate the warning."

>Xelloss ohs! "Are you a swordswoman, then?"

>Cloud comments again, "..... Things seem rather calm around here, at least for

the time being."

>Utena glances to the young blonde man. "For now? Do you know of a threat?"

>Cloud shrugs. "Not in this area."

Cloud(#573PB$)

 -=-=- Cloud Strife -=-=-

A chill... something wells up in you as you look upon this man. Whatever it

was, it passes quickly, allowing you to focus in on the person. He's of average

height, perhaps an inch under 6 feet. Certainly a warrior of some sort, from

both dress and bearing, he isn't heavily muscled and bulky like many other

mercenaries... rather, he's lean and wiry, long of limb, cutting a

distinguished profile. As you look to his face, you are immediately drawn to

the blond hair that frames it... 'mop' is probably as suitable a description as

any, as it sticks out in every possible direction, adding several inches to his

height. His features are rather delicate, not a blemish to be seen, but his

sky-blue eyes seem to glow with a cold, inner fire... maybe you're just

imagining things.

His clothing is also rather atypical for a warrior, though it serves it's

purpose well. The focal piece is a tunic of a deep gray hue, sleeveless, that

covers his torso. It is secured around the waist by a broad leather belt,

studded with steel ornaments, while a large shoulder plating serves as the only

visible armor on his person. Baggy gray trousers and heavy brown leather boots

complete the lower part of the outfit. A claymore of extremely prodigious size

is (if you're lucky) sheathed to his back, sealing the image.

>Xelloss says, "Rumor has it there is a band of brigands in the area. While I

can't say I've seen them doing nefarious deeds, I would put some weight in the

possibility."

>Cloud sits up. "... So I've heard. Might be worth investigating, if a reward

has been offered..."

>Xelloss says, "I believe I saw something of the nature on the notice board,

near the crossroads."

>Utena frowns, nodding quietly, linking her fingers before her. She makes a

soft, low sound at the concept of a reward. After all, real Princes do good

because they must, not for money.

>Cloud hmmms, taking a sip of mead. Of course, Cloud never claimed to be a

Prince.

>Xelloss says, "The whole community could likely breathe easier without such

problems about. That'd be a good deed worth doing."

>Utena makes a decision, and stands, pulling her heavy bag onto her back again.

"Near the crossroads, you said?" Gazing toward Xelloss.

>Xelloss says, "Yes, that's where I saw it."

>Cloud says, "... Messages are put on the post there, apparently."

>"Thank you." Utena bows again, pastel-colored hair shifting about. "I think I'd

like to go take a look for myself..."

>Xelloss smiles, and nods. "I'll be seeing you again, I'm certain."

>Utena exclaims, "It was a pleasure to meet you!"

>Utena exits the bar through the main entrance.

>Utena has left.

>Xelloss says, "And you."

>Xelloss smiles.. to himself. n.n

about... things.

>Xelloss hmmmms to himself, pondering various things.

You see before you Zelgadis Greywars. He stands around 5'9, and dressed head

grey stones sticking out from his cheekbones and his chin, among other places

on his face. By his side is a sword with a golden sword guard, and a long brown

is visible, is set in a very neutral expression. almost as if it were carved

from stone.

Reeve

The figure before you stands at about 6' tall, and might have a commanding

presense, if he wasn't rather friendly looking.

His features are dignified, giving him a somewhat noble air, but they look

quite amiable when he smiles, which is a good deal of the time. His eyes are

dark brown in color, and his medium-length hair is black, and swept back to his

shoulders. Normally his beard is a neatly trimmed goatee, but of late he hasn't

had much time to care for it, so it's grown quite a bit thicker, although it is

still neat.

He wears a dark blue tunic and breeches; both are of high quality, but rather

plain looking. On his feet are brown leather boots, with the tops turned down.

He wears a swordbelt, but wears it awkwardly, and the short sword in it doesn't

appear to be used often. Slung over his left shoulder is a leather satchel,

with a few sheets of paper sticking out from under the flap.

A tall brunette of about 16 years, Makoto casts a striking figure. Soft brown

deerskin covers her from shoulder to ankle in a rather exotic hunting outfit. A

large wooden staff is always in her hand, usually being used as a walking

stick, but obviously can be put to better use as protection. Twin daggers hang

from either side of her belt, their sheaths worn from use. Makoto's green eyes

twinkle as she looks at you and gives you a smile.

Carrying:

Before you stands a man with a cold emotionless expression on his handsome

face, his long brown hair hanging freely down his back and shoulders. He seems

rather tall and lean, probably from hours of activity. He moves smoothly and

quietly, belying his tall size, with a grace that seems almost inhuman.

Concealed in a large full midnight blue cloak and hat, and with an extremely

long intricate sword strapped across his back, he gives you the impression of a

deadly enemy to any who would cross his path.

and bows. "Good evening, lady."

>Healer Tomoe bows her head to Mako-chan "Many blessing, fellow citizen. How are

you this evening?"

>Zelgadis nods in the cleric's direction.

>Mako-chan grins. "Very good. I'm starting to like this place. And you, lady?"

Healer Tomoe says, "I am new to this region. I have lost the better part of the

day searching for a church or temple."

>Mako-chan puts her staff back in an upright position, not wanting to appear too

rude.

>Cloud continues. "... Anyway, the inn's over there."

>Mako-chan thinks. "I haven't seen any around. I'm not sure there even is on any

>Cloud . o O ( ... He must be... one of Lord ShinRa's vassals? Here? )

He nods in gratitude to Cloud, and walks over to the inn.

>Mako-chan asks, "May I ask which Goddess you follow, lady?"

>Healer Tomoe says, "Saturn the Healer."
