Obelisk : Room 508 - Ryan's Apartment(#618R)
One word springs to mind as you walk into Ryan's apartment: cluttered. Stuff is
strewn everywhere, from the multitude of shelves that line the wall, to the
comic books and CD's on the floor.
The main room, which makes up most of the apartment, has apparently been
relegated to storage duty. Aside from the King-sized bed, the desk, and the TV,
all the rest of the furniture here is book shelves. As you look the shelves
over, you see a roughly equal proportion of both scholarly texts (physics
textbooks, archaeological logs, etc.), and comic books. How unusual. Hooked up
to the TV is a wide variety of video game consoles, some no longer supported.
The small kitchenette and bathroom are comparatively unremarkable.

You open the door and walk out into the hallway.

City Square
Welcome to the middle of the sleepy (yeah, right), humble mountain city of
Midgaard. The peaks that surround the somewhat smallish sprawl of
constructions about you appear a vibrant, cool purple at this distance..capped
with off-white snow at the tops. Although the town itself recieves little
precipitation from being sheltered by this atol of sheer rock, a cold wind does
comb and filter its way through..providing a brisk, though arid, atmosphere.
On the southwestern pointing end of town, a small, manmade pass in the
mountain valley allows for easy access from the bustling world outside. To
your north and west are the commercial districts..manufacturing, shipping, and
selling various consumable goods. In the east, to the 'horizon', appear to be
homes of various architectural influences..the more wealthy of said houses
bordering a small alpine lake and park. To the south, the middle-class homes
continue, thinning out just before the open gap to the highway beyond.
As for where you stand..it is the Midgaard City Square..Several government
offices and the larger buildings can be found on the sides of the slightly
misnomered elliptical, cobblestoned intersection. No actual automobile traffic
passes here, being routed through the side streets..this is a strictly
pedestrian and bicycle zone. A large, granite fountain with a statue of Odin
atop it towers nearly two stories prominantly in the center. There are also
benches about for taking a quiet repose from the hustle of daily life.

front of him or something to slow him down.

Midgaard Hospital: Examination Room B
Clean and near, this small cubicle houses shelves, cabinets, viewing lights...
and different equipment a doctor might use to check patients over for the ills.
A single stretcher-bed rest against one wall, situated within an alcove over
which a heavy curtain can be pulled to obscure sight. There isn't much else of
note within the room; only the door that leads back out into the main corridor.

>Kim says, "Ryan."
>Kim asks, "Did Lyrae call you?"
>Ryan nods to Kim. "What's up?"
>Dr. Harding is studying Derek carefully with the equipment. "Hm.... odd.."
>Chibi-Derek is in the hands of the quacks...er, doctors.. He doesn't look like
he's in the best of moods right now.. >_<
>Kim says, "Derek just collapsed in pain"
>Dr. Harding eyes Derek, then scritches her head. *scritch* "Hm."
>Ryan blinks. "Gyaah, why?"
>Dr. Harding says, "...These readings can't be right.." She calls over another
couple of doctors and huddle around li'l Derek.
>Ryan peeks over. "What can't be right?"
>Kim asks, "What's going on, doc?"
>Chibi-Derek looks up at the medics . o O ( I feel like someone switched my
blood with hot sauce.. x_x )
>Kim says, "...."
>Dr. Harding blinks at Ryan, "...Where'd you -" She frowns, "Well nevermind. His
growth hormones are off the scale. It's like he's going through a massive
growth spurt..all at once. That would explain the pain. We can possible get
some medication and painkillers for that.."
>Kim says, "Ryan, watch him...I'm gonig to make a phonecall"
>Ryan nods to Kim, then blinks at the Doctor's explanation. "Uh..."
>Kim heads out to the corridor.
>Chibi-Derek seems..bigger? His shirt isn't as loose as it used to be..
>Ryan . o O ( That spell must be wearing off. Or something. )
>Skuld arrives from the corridor.
>Skuld DASHES into the room! O.O
>Dr. Harding says, "..He's definitely growing."
>Dr. Harding erks as Skuld DASHES in.
>Ryan mumbles something to himself, then swirls to look at Skuld as she arrives
>Skuld says, "What's going on?" O.O asking whoever will answer
>Kim arrives from the corridor.
>Chibi-Derek opens one eye . o O ( Hmm, Ryan's here...erk.. o_o; ) "Skuld?"
>Ryan points his thumb at Derek. "The effect seems to be wearing off!"
>Kim says, "That was very fast... o.o;"
>Dr. Harding eyes Ryan, "Effect?"
>Skuld says, "Nani? Effect?" o.o
>Skuld runs over to Derek's side!
>Skuld says, "Are you okay, Derek? O.O"
>Ryan doesn't elaborate o.o ^^
>Dr. Harding studies Ryan for a few seconds.
>Chibi-Derek half smiles, "I've been better..ow.." ^_x;

>Skuld says, "What's happening, Derek? o.o"
>Chibi-Derek says, "Erm...ask the doctor there..I'm just trying to stay still
right now.."

>Dr. Harding motions over another doctor, in conference. That doctor nods and
walks over to Derek with another BBN(TM), "Could you look that way please?" She
points to the window.
>Dr. Harding looks at Skuld, "It's abnormal I tell you; it seems that he's
growing all at once.."
>Skuld O.O
>Skuld asks, "He...he is?"
>Ryan shrugs at Skuld o.o
>Chibi-Derek blinks and looks out the window, "Huh? What's over there?" >_>
>Dr. Harding nods. "That's what it seems."
>Skuld says, "...."
>Skuld looks down
>Skuld says, "It's starting then..."
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "Figured as much..."
>*STAB* The nurse stabs the BigBigNeedle into Derek's arm quickly and injects
the painkiller c.c "All done, thank you." *walks away whistling* o/~
>Dr. Harding says, "Starting? *eyes the two*"
>Skuld asks, "Hey!! Who said you could poke him??"
>The nurse eyes Skuld. o O ( I hate kids. )
>Chibi-Derek erks at the jab . o O ( I'm hit! ) @_@

>Ryan sweatdrops . o O ( Nothing I can do but watch... )
>Dr. Harding says, "Out, c'mon on, we shouldn't have had you people in here in
the first place, now out! We still need to conduct some tests."
>Skuld stands up straight, removing her lips from Derek's booboo

>Chibi-Derek groans and opens an eye to look at Skuld, "Heh. Don't worry..it was
gonna happen sooner or later..."
>Ryan blinks. "Hey! I'm a doctor!" Just not a MEDICAL doctor. "I'll help!"
>Skuld says, "Wooo...." flexing her fingers as the drugs she removed from Derek
flow through her. @_@
>Skuld says, "I know..." *nods* ^_^
>Dr. Harding eyes Ryan o.- "Oh I see." She hands Ryan a hospital gown, "Have him
change into this then."
>Dr. Harding reaches to drag Skuld out of the room o.-

>Kim leans over to Ryan
>Kim mumbles, "All the ladies are gonna be able to see your butt in that." to
Ryan.

>Well you SAID you were a doctor.
>You mumble, "She meant HIM." to Kim.
>Ryan mumbles, "She ..... HIM .." to Kim.
>Ryan holds the 'gown' out to Derek. "Here y'go."

>Dr. Harding shooherdhustles Kim and Skuld out of the room.
>Skuld says, "He'll be...*hiccup* fine. @_@"

>Dr. Harding says, "He needs to change, now out, both of you."

>Ryan says, rather to the point, "I'll turn my back, just do it. Sheesh, what a
baby."
>Chibi-Derek winces as he hops up to change..and falls out of the bed
Oddly enough, he doesn't even bother to scream in pain.. x_x;

>Chibi-Derek sighs and gets up, pulling his shirt off, "Ack..damn thing's
tighter than it used to be.." He slips the gown on BEFORE getting out of his
pants, "I don't see why I have to wear this stupid thing.." -_-
>Ryan asks, "You done yet? And it's to keep your clothes intact and allow easy
access to... erm... stuff."
>Chibi-Derek nods, throwing his clothes in a pile, "Yeah, I'm done..ow..and
what're you talking about?"
>Doctor Harding pages, "Are you two done in there?" to Derek, you and Skuld.
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "Nothing important, really."
>Derek pages, "Yes, I'm done..ow..." to you and Skuld.

Naomi
Naomi is a tall, beautiful woman of Japanese descent. She has jet black hair,
cropped short in a sensible fashion, and exotic green eyes. A mirthless smile
plays about her lips as she notices your glance. As you look at the rest of
her body, you see that she's definately a head-turner, with an excellent
figure. She's wearing a black turtleneck sweater, underneath which you can see
the outlines of heavy bandaging, and a pair of baggy brown pants that are
tucked into her black Reebok sneakers. She has an air of arrogance and pride
about her. Whe she speaks, her voice is rough and harsh, as if she had a frog
in her throat.
Carrying:
>Dr. Harding erks at Naomi barging in, "!"
>Skuld runs up to Derek's bed o.o
>Dr. Harding asks, "Ah, can I help you?"
>Naomi looks at Derek, checking out his condition. She gestures to him. "How's
he doing?"
>Chibi-Derek looks up, now wearing one of those hospital gowns o_o

>Ryan peers at Naomi. Hrmm, don't know her...
>Dr. Harding asks, "He looks to be doing well thus far. How about it Derek?"
>Skuld says, "Does it hurt, Derek?...."
>Naomi croaks, "Yeah, heard you weren't feeling too well, so I thought I'd pay a
visit to my good friend, Derek."
>Naomi winks at Dr. Harding. "I puked on him."
>Dr. Harding sweatdrops at Naomi.
>Chibi-Derek reaches up to rub the back of his quickly blushing neck, wincing as
he does, "It still hurts like hell, doc.. Do you have any painkillers?"
>Ryan scratches his head. "Didn't you just get some?"
>Naomi asks, "Are you okay Derek?"
>Chibi-Derek blinks and looks at Skuld for a moment, "I did?" c_c
>Skuld says, "Painkillers?...."
>Chibi-Derek looks back to Naomi and opens his mouth to answer her when he
doubles over in pain again, "Aaaaaaahhh!!!" >_< x_x;

>Naomi manhandles Dr. Harding. "Do something!"

>Dr. Harding walks over to Skuld and Derek, "We're just going to give him some
painkiller. We've used it before when some of the kidsin pediatrics have
similar problems."

>Skuld says, "Okay..."
>Chibi-Derek clutches his sides, "I know..it still...nnnnnnngh..hurts.."
>Dr. Harding hms slightly and comments afterwards, "We'll give you something to
help you sleep too."
>Skuld leans forward, giving Derek a soft kiss on his forehead
>Skuld says, "Gomenasai, Derek...."
>Chibi-Derek says, "Skuld...it's not your fault.."
>Skuld says, "Yes it is..."
>Skuld says, "I made the machine..."
>Chibi-Derek exclaims, "(OOC) Is not!"
>Ryan glances back and forth. This's really productive, yup.
>Skuld smiles... "You're gonna be all better though after this."

>Dr. Harding confers with a doctor, shakes her head a few times, then nods and
takes (Children stop fighting or I'm putting you in the box!) a few pills and a
glass.
>Naomi practically faints.

>Naomi *practically* faints. She pushes the doc away angrily.

>Dr. Harding hands both to Derek, "Here, drink this and take the pills.."
>Naomi looks at Derek carefully. "Hey, there's something different about you..."

>Skuld says, "I'm gonna go home and prepare for your arrival, Derek..." smiling
as best she can, though she's fading fast.
>Chibi-Derek nods as he takes the pills and swallows them, then takes a drink.
"Yeah, what she said.. It's a long story..nnnnngg..." >_-
>Skuld turns and runs out of the room quickly.

>Chibi-Derek blinks at Skuld and looks after her, "Wha..?" o_o
>Naomi looks around, a bit bored. "Well, you take care, kid. I've got stuff to
do." She waves and heads off.

>Chibi-Derek hops back up on the bed, which is a little easier, seeing as how he
looks more like 16 than 13..
>Chibi-Derek says, "Urg..I just want the room to stop spinning.."
>Ryan comments, "Well, stay in the center of the bed, I don't want to catch you
again."
>Chibi-Derek sighs, "Yeah..right. Nnnggg.." x_x
>Ryan taps his foot. Not much else to do but wait, I guess. Maybe I'll go play
with the X-ray machine.
>Chibi-Derek feels the painkillers starting to kick in and relaxes a little,
"Wow...pretty colors.." @_@
>Ryan smirks. "Morphine's good, eh?"
>Chibi-Derek blinks, "It's what?" @_o; He blinks a few times and then drifts off

size..
>Ryan watches Derek's return to adulthood (occasionally pausing to watch the
nurses. Hellooooo nurse!)
>Derek blinks awake and looks over, "Ow...hey, Ryan?" He sits up, taking notice
as one such nurse goes past the room o_o

>Derek sighs and starts to sit up . o O ( What am I doing in this? Oh..wait, my

>Ryan won't mention that. You're big enough to hurt him now, after all.
>Derek gets to his feet, still slightly groggy, "Man..am I glad that's over
with.." -_-
>Ryan coughs. "Keep still, dunno if it's over yet. And you're still shot up with
narcotics."
>Derek keeps his back towards the far wall, "Hmph..a little pain I can deal
with.."
>Ryan says, "I meant being able to walk straight, mostly. And tighten the !@*!
gown, I don't feel like watching your butt."
>Derek grumbles and reaches behind him to make sure the ties are all pulled
shut, "Yeah, yeah.."
>Ryan glances at the doctor, then back at Derek. "And we still aren't sure
everything's done yet. I think. Wait a little bit, at least, sheesh."
>Derek sighs, "Dammit, I wish I had some of my regular clothes.."
>Ryan shrugs at Derek. "Aw, quit whining. Those things aren't THAT revealing."
Ryan, of course, is lying.
>Derek snorts, "Then why don't you try wearing one sometime.. This damn thing is
drafty.."
>Ryan snickers to himself.
>Derek sighs and gets back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, "I never liked
hospitals. I should just heal myself and get out of here.."
>Ryan shrugs. "Up to you. I think the doc passed out."
>Derek nods and touches his chest, "Kiral.." The usual white glow spreads from
his hand to his chest and spreads through his body. With a sigh, he smiles,
"Better.." ^_^
>Ryan shrugs again. "Well, at least you seem to be an adult again... what
happened to reverse that?"
>Derek lets the spell fade, "Beats me..I started getting a headache this
morning. I guess the effect wore off.."
>Ryan hmms. "Maybe it just wore off naturally."
>Derek nods and gets to his feet, "I guess so. That's what Belldandy said would
happen.."
>Derek . o O ( Man, I REALLY wish I had my old clothes.. )
>Ryan stretches. "Just a little bit longer." That'll give him more time to watch
the nurses.
>Skuld arrives from the corridor.
>Skuld peeks her head into the room

>Derek is looking up at the ceiling. Ryan is watching nurses go by..
>Ryan stands to one side, the Doc is unconscious from shock, and Derek is full
size. In a kiddie robe.
>Derek (OOC) is bed, though..under the blankets.. >_>;

>Skuld. o O (He's all grown up...)
>Derek sighs. The ceiling is boring, so he rolls on his side to at least look
out the door..
>Skuld freezes! O.O
>Ryan glances at his watch. "Well... you're probably fine by now."
>Derek says, "Well, duh.. I've felt fine ever since I used my spell."
>Skuld gulps
>Skuld. o O (He didn't see me..)

>Derek blinks, thinking he heard something from outside the door. He scratches
his cheek, "Hey Ryan, do you think you could run by the church and pick up a
pair of my clothes for me?"
>Ryan hmms? "Don't see why not."
>Ryan asks, "Where's your room there, anyway?"
>Derek says, "It's the side room. The one that used to be Lyrae's before she
moved out.."
>Ryan nods to Derek. "Gotcha. Back in a sec..."

Midgaard Hospital: Front Lobby
The front lobby is highly spacious for its ilk, allowing for a variety of
people to pass through or wait with ease. Electronic, sliding glass doors line
the front entrance, allowing for passage to and from the street outside. Near
this bank of doors lies a reception desk, an attendant sitting behind it at all
hours in order to assist those that need help finding their way about the
hospital. Several paces away lies a largish sitting area, for those waiting
for friends, outpatients, or some other business that has brought them to this
place. Walls are painted a general shade of pastel yellow, floors, a creamish
tile. Signs point in various directions, indicating the way to the ER through
the west doors, the East Wing, elevators and paitents' quarters through the
east doors, among other various and significant directions.

Welcome to the middle of the sleepy (yeah, right), humble mountain city of
Midgaard. The peaks that surround the somewhat smallish sprawl of
constructions about you appear a vibrant, cool purple at this distance..capped
with off-white snow at the tops. Although the town itself recieves little
precipitation from being sheltered by this atol of sheer rock, a cold wind does
comb and filter its way through..providing a brisk, though arid, atmosphere.
On the southwestern pointing end of town, a small, manmade pass in the
mountain valley allows for easy access from the bustling world outside. To
your north and west are the commercial districts..manufacturing, shipping, and
selling various consumable goods. In the east, to the 'horizon', appear to be
homes of various architectural influences..the more wealthy of said houses
bordering a small alpine lake and park. To the south, the middle-class homes
continue, thinning out just before the open gap to the highway beyond.
As for where you stand..it is the Midgaard City Square..Several government
offices and the larger buildings can be found on the sides of the slightly
misnomered elliptical, cobblestoned intersection. No actual automobile traffic
passes here, being routed through the side streets..this is a strictly
pedestrian and bicycle zone. A large, granite fountain with a statue of Odin
atop it towers nearly two stories prominantly in the center. There are also
benches about for taking a quiet repose from the hustle of daily life.

>Rydia jumps slightly, startled by the sound of the horn, then looks from the
bike back over to Kim. "I am to live here for a time."

Odin Avenue [500]
Some of the homes here, unlinke those to the west, appear to have been erected
in rather recent years. Though larger than their elder counterparts, and
containing more modern accomidations, they are no less stylish and do not
detract from the appearance of their neighbours. The contrast might even be
considered healthy. Immediately to the east, a turn north and south and
estates with large mansions bordering it on the eastern edge of the walk mark
the end of Odin Avenue. Also, to your south here, through some wrought iron
gating..is quite oviously a cemetary. It isn't spooky as you think one should
be..far from it..it seems a peaceful, sunny area to be laid to rest.

Clean and near, this small cubicle houses shelves, cabinets, viewing lights...
and different equipment a doctor might use to check patients over for the ills.
A single stretcher-bed rest against one wall, situated within an alcove over
which a heavy curtain can be pulled to obscure sight. There isn't much else of
note within the room; only the door that leads back out into the main corridor.

Seventh Heaven Bar - Main Room
Tifa's Seventh Heaven Bar has a campy feeling to it, primarily constructed of
dark wood with occasional items for decoration. Several worn tables grace the
area near the door, looking beaten up from years of patrons. The bar is more
well kept, stocked with a vast amount of alcoholic beverages and components for
mixed drinks. The room is just a tad dimly lit, feeling cozy and familiar at
the same time. Other areas of interest are the entrance to the kitchen, and a
porch with some comfy chairs. All in all, the Seventh Heaven is a nice tribute
to what someone can put together for a business if they try. A machine for a
game similar to pinball sits on the less used side of the room, sporting an
"Out of Order" sign. Most of the damage that was obvious only a little while
ago is now repaired with more permenant fixes, so the bar once again is back to
it's former self.

>Alex nods to Derek, tossing together a simple rum and coke.
>Ryan hmms. "Nothing hard for now... just a soda."
>Alex glances at Ryan, and gets him a soda, takingthe glasses over, setting them
in front of you both.
>Derek picks up the glass and takes a sip. He smiles, "Aaah, terrific." and then
takes a few more swallows..
>Alex nods, wiping his hands on his towel.
>Derek . o O ( Phew..thank goodness alcohol tastes the same as it did before.. )
>Ryan chugs his soda, not pausing to say anything.
>Cloud remains quiet, studying the counter, before looking up at Alex. "Any
troubles with customers?"
>Alex folds his towel. "Not recently that I am aware of... An odd man came in
last week seeking the city's dead, and was carrying around several souls in a
glowing sphere thesize of a marble, but no news of his recent whereabouts."
>Derek blinks, setting his drink down, "Seeking the dead?" O_o;
>Ryan raises his eyebrow
>Alex nods. "A sorcerer of some sort. Powerful defensive and offensive magic.
Severely allergic to holy spells."
>Ryan asks, "Go figure. He cause trouble?"
>Cloud says, "... Was his name Kismet?"
>Alex nods. "There was a fight down near the morgue. Heavy injuries before he
was disbursed temporarily." He turns to Cloud. "He did not give his name."
>Cloud hmms, thinking. He starts describing Kismet. "Was that him?"
>Alex says, "That does not sound like the gentleman."
>Cloud asks, "... Can you describe him, then?"
>Alex describes what he can of the gentleman, exact height in centimeters, rough
approximation of mass in kilograms, method of dress that night, weapons
carried, and variety of spells used.
>Cloud shakes his head, as he doesn't know the gentleman in question. He looks
at Derek and Ryan for their reactions.
>Derek shakes his head, "Never seen 'em before.." o_o He downs the rest of his
rum and coke..
>Ryan shrugs. "Sounds like another generic evil wizard type."
>Alex takes a sip of his spring water.
>Ryan finishes off his cup, setting it aside. "Well, if it's just an evil
wizard, shouldn't be a problem."
>Cloud asks, "...you think so, Ryan?"
>Ryan nods to Cloud. "Yeah, I've beat up a few of the guys, no biggie."
>Derek sets his empty glass down, "Heh, pretty confident, aren't you?"
>Ryan nods. "Mmm-hmm."

>Alex remains expressionless, wiping another glass.
>Ryan smirks. "Wizards are easy... you just gotta know how to tweak 'em. Get em
all pissed off and they can't cast spells straight."

>Alex says, "He seemed to be doing quite well when casting spells ehile engaged
in close-quarters combat conditions."

>Alex says, "And he seemed to derive some form of amusement by shouting the
names of the spells he was casting. Found that rather odd."
>Derek blinks, "Weird. There was a guy back home who used to do that with his
materia.."

>Alex nods to Cloud. "Quite true. But duty and honor must be maintained. Many a
time have I met a var on the battlefield, and that evening enjoyed their
company for a drink."
>Cloud nods at Alex, though he finds honor a bit... worthless. What good is that
when someone's trying to kill you?

since Ryan brought him his clothes.. o_o;

>Cloud continues studying the bar, before blinking. "Ryan? You never did explain
about..."

>Ryan hmms? "Fine, fine..." He tosses Derek a 5. Whee. To Cloud he asks, "What
were you saying?"
>Cloud asks, "... about the tail. You said there were more?"
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "There's at least another one of those rats
running around."
>Derek sips his drink as he slides the money over towards Alex..
>Alex accepts the money and puts it in the till.
>Derek downs the rest of his drink, "Well, I think I'll be calling it a night.."
>Ryan nods. "At least it was quiet, for once, eh?"
>Derek gives Ryan one of those 'yeah, sure' looks, "Maybe for you it was..."
>Cloud nods quietly at Ryan.
>Ryan smirks. "Well, look on the brightside, you ain't a kid anymore."
>Derek grins, "That's for sure. I'll have to try going back to that nightclub
again now.." ^_^
>Ryan raises his eyebrow
>Alex folds the towel he was using, setting it under the bar.
>Cloud says, "... Nightclub?" He raises HIS eyebrow.
>Derek nods, "Yeah, over towards the park there's a new dance club.."
>Derek gets up and waves, "Well, I'd better get going. See you guys later.."
>Ryan nods to Derek. "Ciao."
>Alex nods to Derek.
>Cloud nods, still thinking.
>Derek heads out the front door.
>Cloud says, "... We'll talk tomorrow, Ryan."
>Cloud says, "... Goodnight."
>Ryan nods to Cloud as he stands up to exit. "Just be on the lookout... dunno
what those things can do." He's apparently referring to the metal demon rats.
