Obelisk : Room 508 - Ryan's Apartment(#618R)
One word springs to mind as you walk into Ryan's apartment: cluttered. Stuff is
strewn everywhere, from the multitude of shelves that line the wall, to the comic
books and CD's on the floor.
The main room, which makes up most of the apartment, has apparently been
relegated to storage duty. Aside from the King-sized bed, the desk, and the TV,
all the rest of the furniture here is book shelves. As you look the shelves over,
you see a roughly equal proportion of both scholarly texts (physics textbooks,
archaeological logs, etc.), and comic books. How unusual. Hooked up to the TV is
a wide variety of video game consoles, some no longer supported.
The small kitchenette and bathroom are comparatively unremarkable.

>Alhazad (Today at 9:07:02PM) -- Alhazad hmms. "Okay, when you put seed-bearing
water samples under a microscope they englare exponentially to become pissed off
little killin' machines with a five second life span. Of course, actual
contaminated samples are hard to take because those seeds are smart little
buggers. Of course, even that will prove that there's something really, really
-wrong- with it. So yeah, you're going to find something nasty.
Done.
>You page, "Something tells me this'll get me a blue ribbon at the science fair!"
to Alhazad.
>In a page-pose to you, Alhazad noddles. "That's why I don't get to compete. I'm
a shoe-in every year. [ n ]V
>You page, "So, basically, there's little thingies swimmin' around...? Sounds
like the tap water in New Mexico IRL c.c;" to Alhazad.
>Alhazad pages, "Ayup. And they try to hide so they won't be detected..with
varying results. Anyway, poking around at them long enough gets them to give
themselves away..of course, it also tends to yield civilian casualties. They're
mean and sharp and pointy." to you.
>You page-pose, "Ryan is glad he was using tweezers o.o;" to Alhazad
>You page-pose, "Ryan gives you a call" to Cloud
>In a page-pose to you, Cloud isn't at home, actually. But there's a knock on
your door.
>Alhazad pages, "Mercifully enough, they weren't made to be self-replicating.
Rather, there were just enough dumped in (bazillions o.o) to accomodate Al's
limited attention span. If they're somehow purged and every infected creature
destroyed, he'd have to start completely over from scratch." to you.
>You page, "Don't you have a cell phone? Anyway, he erps, as he was about to give
youa call as you knock. He swings open the door, almost knowing it was you, and
says, frantic, "Get in here, NOW!" to Cloud.
>Cloud has arrived.
>Ryan tugs at his hair. "I've never seen microbes try to counterattack my
equipment!"  O.o;
>Cloud blinks as he enters. "What... *blinks*"
>Ryan thumbs toward the water sample. "It's contaminated. With something. LOTS of
somethings. And they fight back!" He inhales, then adds, "Of course, seeing as
how they're microscopic, they don't do much, but it's still bloody odd to
watch..."
>Cloud says, "... What do you mean, fight back?" cautiously.
>Ryan flails his hands around. "Attacking my equipment... swimming away from the
lens, devouring the tools!"
>Cloud blinks, looking around carefully. "What do you mean by that?"
>Ryan sweatdrops, then summarizes, "There's evil mutant bacteria swimming around
in the tap water, you idjit! I dunno if they're metal demon or not, but they
CAN'T be healthy!"
>Ryan comments, out of the blue, "It's like some cheesy 50's sci-fi flick."
O.o;
>Cloud asks, "... ... ... All right. So... have you found anything to neutralize
them?"
>Ryan tugs at his hair. "Not yet... they don't seem to reproduce, though... most
bacteria have life cycles of minutes, but these have been sitting around for
hours. On the other hand, there's billions of the damned thingies swimming
around..."
>You page, "Anything that'd obviously kill them, from a cursory examination?
Boiling and the like?" to Alhazad.
>Cloud frowns, looking towards wherever your equipment is...
>Ryan points at the microscope. If you take a look, you might be able to see 'em
swimming around... they're hard to track, though, as they actually try to swim
out of sight, for some reason.
>Alhazad pages, "Bleach. They're made to thrive in warm environments. Use
bleach." to you.
>Cloud walks over to, and peers into the microscope. "..." Wow, they're actually
TRYING to moooooooove.
>Ryan runs his fingers through his hair. "Boiling doesn't work... only harsh
chemicals seem to have an effect, chlorine, bleach, that sort of stuff..."
>Cloud looks back up from the microscope. "What happened?"
>Ryan shrugs."They're just tenacious little buggers... I suspect that, when they
get ingested, they take over the body somehow, like with those rats."
>Cloud says, "... no. I mean, their reaction to chlorine, bleach.."
>Ryan hmms? "They croak."
>Ryan says, "Takes a lot, though... normal levels of chlorine don't cut it. And I
ain't about to dump bleach in the reservoir..."
>Cloud frowns. "What about electricity?"
>Ryan scratches his head. "..."
>You page, "Suggestion by Cloud, how does electricity affect them?" to Alhazad.
>Cloud waits for Ryan to answer.
>Alhazad pages, "It tickles. *.*" to you.
>Ryan shrugs again. "Little if no effect..."
>Alhazad pages, "The forms they'll later gestate into aren't as resistant to
electricity, but the seeds are sturdy lil' buggers in that regard." to you.
>Cloud ponders, thinking about usual metal reactions, and asks, "Do they react to
heat?"
>Ryan shakes his head. "Nothing, boiled the water and it had no noticable
effect."
>Cloud asks, "... What about freezing it?"
>Ryan rubs his chin
>You page, "Freezing work?" to Alhazad.
>Alhazad pages, "Yah. They'd crumble to dust." to you.
>Ryan hmms. "Haven't tried it... might work, though."
>Ryan does the obvious thing, and pops a test tube in the freezer.
>Ryan has to wait for it to freeze of course. So, for the moment, he stands
around like an idiot, and comments, "... Glad I switched to bottled water..."
>Cloud just... waits.
>Cloud asks, "... Well... should we inform Vincent?"
>Ryan nods to Cloud, and whips out his phone
>You page-pose, "Ryan gives you a call." to Vincent
>In a page-pose to you, Vincent picks up, "Yes?" abrupt, but then he figures
it'll be one of two people at the most.
>You page, "The water is contaminated." to Vincent.
>Ryan says into the phone, "The water is contaminated."
>In a page-pose to you, Vincent frowns. Something that is otherwise noted as a
short pause, "Thank you. What do you need me to do?"
>You page, "I haven't got a clue, actually... only thing that seems to affect 'em
is chemicals, bleach, that sort of thing. Boiling doesn't work, and i'm trying
freezing now..." to Vincent.
>Ryan says into the phone, "I haven't got a clue, actually... only thing that
seems to affect 'em is chemicals, bleach, that sort of thing. Boiling doesn't
work, and I'm trying freezing now..."
>Vincent pages, "I see. Have you found out the affects on those drinking the
water?" to you.
>In a page-pose to you, Vincent adds quickly, "And why they have yet to affect
humans, from what I have seen?"
>You page, "I suspect the results would be the ones we've seen in the rats, over
a long term... How long a term depends on body mass, perhaps." to Vincent.
>Ryan says into the phone, "I suspect the results would be the ones we've seen in
the rats, over a long term... How long a term depends on body mass, perhaps."
>Vincent pages, "*silence* "You do realize that it is likely this contaminent has
been within the water supply for a minimum of several weeks. And a maximum of the
entire time the demons have been here? What if there is another trigger than
buildup?" to you.

** I get bumped **

>You page, "What were the last few poses/pages? x.x" to Cloud and Vincent.
>Cloud pages, "You're toasty. n.n" to you and Vincent.
>Vincent pages, "*silence* "You do realize that it is likely this contaminent has
been within the water supply for a minimum of several weeks. And a maximum of the
entire time the demons have been here? What if there is another trigger than
buildup?" to you.
>You page, "If there is, there's nothing we can do about it now, except find a
way to kill the microbes that're already here. They don't seem to reproduce, but
there's a LOT of them, and they have a survival instinct..." to Vincent.
>Ryan blinks, then says into the phone, "If there is, there's nothing we can do
about it now, except find a way to kill the microbes that're already here. They
don't seem to reproduce, but there's a LOT of them, and they have a survival
instinct..."
>Vincent pages, "Which means they might be able to adapt to whatever is produced
to counteract the contamination?" to you.
>You page, "If we don't get all of them at once, no..." to Vincent.
>Ryan says into the phone, "If we don't get all of them at once, no..."
>Ryan glances over at you. "Hey, go check on the sample in the freezer..." Once
put under the microscope again, the microbes will be quite dead.
>Vincent pages, "Good luck in finding a solution. I will try to see if I can
find out what I can about the source of the contamination." And he's not meaning
the dump location of the microbes." to you.
>You page-pose, "Ryan nods, though Vincent won't be able to tell. "It may have
been a one time contamination... with the lifespan of these suckers, they
wouldn't need to be repleneshed often. Good luck."" to Cloud and Vincent
>In a page-pose to Cloud and you, Vincent hmns, "With the sort of concentration
you refer to, there would have had to have been more than one. Otherwise the
water flow would have diluted the factor, given enough time. Thank you, however.
Good luck with your own research. And let me know when you wish to remove the
corpse."
>You page-pose, "Ryan sweatdrops. Something tells me Vinnie doesn't like having a
giant dead demon rat in his basement. "As soon as I find a suitable place to keep
it..."" to Cloud and Vincent
>In a page-pose to Cloud and you, Vincent doesn't mind, but there's the matter of
his 'roommate', so to speak. She's gonna be peeved if she finds out about the
dead rat in the basement, he figures. c.c "Very well. Have a good evening." he
moves to hang up.
>Cloud goes over to check the freezer.
>You page-pose, "Ryan can't exactly stop you n.n; *click*" to Cloud and
Vincent
>Cloud brings back the sample. Hopefully they aren't just dormant until reexposed
to heat.
>According to Alhazad, they die in cold. Including this sample.
>Cloud hands yout he samples to examine for yourself.
>Ryan puts it under the scope. "... Well... freezing seems to work as well."
>Cloud says, "... I see." He nods. "... And with winter coming up..."
>Ryan hmms, and rubs his chin. "Not that simple... water, especially the water
system, doesn't usually freeze all the way through."
>Cloud frowns. "... Should we try to freeze it all?"
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "You'd need magic or something to do it. Let
alone having to deal with all the burst pipes... and there's STILL the problem of
the critters that've already drank it... and I dunno if its affecting people
too..."
>Cloud taptaps his materia on his armor. "I have Ice."
>Ryan rubs his chin... "It's a possibility. And hell, I won't be paying for the
pipes."
>Cloud nods, frowning. "... Maybe we might need more Ice materia for this."
>Ryan sweatdrops. "Aw, it's only a few million gallons..."
>Cloud asks, "... We'll have to see. Think Rachel and her... machine... can
help?"
>Ryan hmms. "It's possible, but I have no way to be sure without asking."
>Cloud nods. "... What about Eden?"
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "I haven't got a clue what Angel's tech specs
are."
>Cloud sighs. "We'll have to ask her."
>Ryan nods to Cloud
>Cloud rubs his neck, thinking. "Who else might have ma... Cait."
>Ryan hmms?
>Cloud says, "... Cait sells materia."
>Cloud hmms quietly at Ryan. "... Anyway... well, if there's nothing we can do
about it now... well... do you still have that laptop computer of yours?"
>Ryan nods. "Of course."
>Cloud says, "... We might need it."
>Cloud sighs. "Can you call Lyrae and see if she's home so we can get the disk
from her?"
>Ryan hmms? "Which disc?"
>Cloud says, "The one with information on Sephiroth."
>Ryan rubs his chin, and hands the phone over to you. "You give her a call, I'm
going to do a few more tests..." Read: I'm going to idle and hope my lag goes
away.
>Cloud speaks into the phone. "... Oh, am I disturbing you? Sorry... I... um..."
>Cloud listens, then speaks again, "... I though... well... about that disk with
Sephiroth..."
>Cloud nods slowly, frowning. "... It's all right. What with everything happening
at once..."
>Cloud continues talking into the phone. "The bar's closed for repairs. Um... can
you stop by Ryan's?"
>Cloud says, "Thanks. I'll see you soon," nods at a final comment, and then hangs
up.
>Lyrae strolls past, playing her lyre while Pikachu swings from her braid. As she
nears Cloud and you, she looks up and knocks lightly. *knockknock*
>You page-pose, "Ryan says, loudly, "Door's open."" to Cloud and Lyrae
>Lyrae has arrived.
>Cloud looks up. "Lyrae, hi. Um..." He looks at Ryan. He's the main host,
actually.
>Lyrae strolls in quietly, "Hi." She calls cheerfully n.n
>Cloud isn't going to demand to see Foil now, nope. Just later. Thank you Ryan.
>Lyrae hehehs o.o;;
>Ryan waves some sort of reply. He's busy peering into a microscope.
>Lyrae o.- at Ryan, then rummages in her pockets, taking out a set of disks.
"Here are the disks you wanted, Cloud."
>Ryan comments, for no particular reason, "Oh, Lyrae? Don't touch the tap water,
got it? Use bottled water..."
>Lyrae sweatdrops. "...Why?" o.o
>Cloud says, "... demon mutant bacteria."
>Ryan says, rather casually, "The metal demons have contaminated it."
>Lyrae sloowly glances at Cloud..then back at Ryan. "...." o O ( They could be
talking about baseball, as calmly as this is.. ) "I see." She answers slowly,
tapping a disk against her palm.
>Ryan elaborates, "The dosages probably won't affect humans... but we can't be
sure."
>Lyrae doesn't look relieved by much, though she refuses to let -that- show.
"That's good."
>Ryan says, "I suspect that this is what's been making those giant demon rats
Vinnie's run into."
>Lyrae sweatdrops. o O ( Have they even considered using a filter? It works with
bacteria everywhere else. ..oh well. )
>Cloud nods. "The bacteria seems to be... active."
>Ryan continues, "These things are microbes, but they aren't like any other
bacteria. They almost have a limited intellect... they have to have been planted
by the Metal Demons"
>Lyrae quietly says, "Oh goody." She states drily.
>Lyrae . o O ( ... Metal demons contaminating the water, Es ...contaminating the
air.. I think.... )
>Cloud nods quietly. "We're contemplating just freezing the whole reservoir."
>Lyrae follows that train of thought for a while, glancing out the window, until
she snorts a soft giggle.
>Lyrae coughs.
>Lyrae quietly says, "Ah.. good idea. *cough*"
>Ryan says, "Cold is one thing that gets 'em... that, and strong chemical
poisons. Boiling doesn't work."
>Lyrae . o O ( And Foil.. heh.. too rich. Too tooo rich for words. )
>Cloud says, "(OOC) We should just freeze her too. n.n"
>Lyrae quietly says, "Ahaha. *ahems again* o.o"
>Lyrae quietly says, "(OOC) HEY! ;.;"
>Cloud blinks, looks at Ryan once, then gently but brusquely asks, "What's so
funny?"
>Lyrae quietly says, "Hehehhmm? Oh, nothing." *sweatdropsmilesweatdrop looks the
other way*
>Ryan sweatdrops himself as he looks up from the scope. "..."
>Lyrae keeps a perfectly straight *twitch* face. o.o
>Lyrae coughs, "Anyway, you wanted these, right?" *smilesmilewavesdiskssmile*
>Cloud asks, "... Lyrae. Do you know something?"
>Lyrae hedges.
>Lyrae quietly says, "Know something?" *stallstall* o O ( Not yet -.- ) "No." She
answers honesty.
>Ryan lets Cloud do the initial interrogation. He simply asks, "Mmm-hmm, you
always get nervous like this for no reason, right?"
>Lyrae smilesmiles, "I'll just put these down here since you're not in a hurry to
look at em." *sweatdrop* She puts the disks down. Heheheh. o.o
>Ryan facepalms. "..."
>Cloud frowns. "Lyrae... what's the matter with you?"
>Lyrae quietly says, "And I know nothing. I'm nothing knowing person. o.o Honest.
I know zilch. Nada. Zippo. Really. So um, I'm ..going to go spread the warning to
Eden."
>Cloud frowns, as he scootscootmoves to obstruct Lyrae's way out. "... What's
going on, Lyrae?"
>Lyrae erps, "Haha?" She yips, "Nadazippozilchers. I know nothing. I told you
that before." o.o
>Cloud asks, "... Then why were you laughing?"
>Ryan lets Cloud handle it. He's scarier anyway.
>Lyrae quietly says, "Er. Temporary insanity?" She squeaks meekly. *sweatdrop*
(Don't say it you two >.<)
>Cloud says, "(OOC) Too easy."
>Lyrae (OOC) n.n
>Ryan sweatdrops. Again. Then comments, "Has to do with either her family, Kim,
or Esmerelda. Right?"
>Lyrae shruggies, again repeating, "I know nothing." firmly. "If I knew something
I'd tell you but I don't know anything so I can't tell you anything I don't know,
right?"
>Ryan peers at Lyrae. "You're rambling incoherently again."
>Lyrae quietly says, "I am?"
>Cloud shakes his head, looking towards Ryan. "..." What he said. "Lyrae... What
was so funny about bacteria?" Despite how much it sounds like a grade B movie...
o.o
>Lyrae quietly says, "..It sounds like something out of a really poorly made B
movie."
>Ryan facepalms again.
>Lyrae answers softly, "Well it does."
>Cloud says, "... why don't you show her, Ryan?"
>Lyrae quietly says, "No thanks. o.o"
>Cloud says with a slight edge in his voice, "Go look."
>Ryan waves you over. "Take a look, if you want. They're hard to track, though...
keep swimming out of the line of sight."
>Lyrae meeps. "No really, that's not necessary *hehehe* o.o I trust your word
o.o"
>Lyrae shakes her head. *sweatdrop*
>A gigantic demonic head resembling Cloud LOOMS. "Go LOOK!"
>Lyrae meeps and *poofs* over to the thingy o.o;;;;;;
>Show her the bacteria, Ryan!
>Ryan holds over the lens. Take a look. Of course, it probably looks like any
other germ to Lyrae.
>Lyrae looks, and says so. "Looks perfectly normal. For a germ."
>Ryan elaborates, "But notice how they flee when they're observed... normal germs
just kinda sit there and wiggle." Hey, he's an Archaeologist, not a pathologist.
>Lyrae looks up from the scope briefly -.9 then back down -.o "They're camera
shy." She says after a second -.o
>Ryan sweatdrops. "And they're violent little buggers, too..." He pulls out a
toothpick, and pokes it under the lens. The bacteria actually grow sharp and
pointy and attack the thing   O.o;
>Rachel has connected.
>Lyrae quietly says, "Well I'd be a little violent too if someone was poking at
me.." She replies, watching the 'battle'.
>Ryan is ranting about the evil killer demon germs in the water to Lyrae
>Rachel stirs, snuggled warm under the covers of Ryan's bed.
>Ryan glances over at Rachel as she stirs, and tones down his rant a little.
"See? These are not natural..."
>Lyrae doesn't, but she nods anyway.
>Rachel rolls over onto her back, shoulders visibly bare at the point where the
covers begin, and starts to wake up. "Mmmmm..." Her eyes flutter open.
>Rachel's arms emerge from beneath the covers, as she stretches, apparently still
unaware that Ryan has company. "Mmmmmmm..."
>Ryan isn't looking, fortunately (or unfortunately?). He's spending most of his
attention trying to convince Lyrae he isn't crazy.
>Lyrae straightens from the microscope, brushing her hair out of her face. "Okay
so, you're right about the weird bacteria in the water being alien." She answers
finally. Hey he knows more about this stuff than -she- does.
>Ryan crosses his arms. "We're trying to figure out a way to get rid of it...
until then, avoid any contact with city water, we have no idea how much of this
stuff can cause contamination."
>Lyrae . o O ( .... )
>Lyrae asks gently, "Ah..any idea when the water was infected?"
>Rachel quickly sits up upon hearing non-Ryan voices, holding the covers over her
chest, her expression a little surprised -- hey, she _did_ just wake up. "Um,
hi."
>Lyrae blinkblinks, "Ah..Hi Rach ^_^;;" *pause* Hey wait. Distraction! "Well see
you guys later!* "
>Ryan shakes his head at Lyrae. "No idea... probably before those demon rats
showed u-" He turns to Rachel as she speaks up, and sweatdrops but nicely   ^^;
>Lyrae nodnods at Ryan's last comment, "I'll tell the others at the church then.
Leave a note or something o.o"
>Rachel says, "Um, Lyrae, you don't have to leave because of me..."
>Lyrae shakes her head at Rachel, "I'm not. I've got some more hacking to do." o
O ( Oops. Oh well. ) "Er. <.< Anyway, see you later! n.n"
>Cloud scratches his head, looking embarrassed at Rachel. "... I'll come with
you, Lyrae."
>Lyrae . o O ( gak. )
>Cloud asks, "... Hacking?"
>Ryan sweatdrops. This's rather akward, mind you. Probly moreso for Rachel.
>Ryan peers at Lyrae. Hacking? Well, he ain't asking.
>Lyrae whistles innocently, then quickly slips out so it's less awkward for the
group. She mutters something about finding Kim <.<
>Lyrae heads out to the hallway
>Rachel isn't looking like she's finding it awkward at all -- except for the fast
that she's naked under the covers and her clothes are out of reach.
>Cloud heads out to the hallway
>In a page-pose to Rachel and you, Cloud quickly takes the chance to race out
after Lyrae, with a quick look of apology.
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "..."
>Rachel looks at Ryan a bit sheepishly. "I didn't mean to chase everyone off..."
>Ryan sweatdrops. "Well, not exactly your fault. I just got so upset when I found
out the metal demons had contaminated the water supply, I called Cloud over to
verify, without thinking, and then Lyrae popped up, and..."
>Rachel's expression goes quickly to a mix of concern and anger. "Then I was
right. Unfortunately."
>Ryan crosses his arms, and nods. "The microbes are bloody hard to kill, too...
only cold and strong chemicals seems to have any effects."
>Rachel slips out of bed, unmindful of her nudity, and heads directly for the
microscope and peers into it. "Damn, this is one time I'd've preferred to be
wrong..."
>Ryan doesn't seem to notice the nudity as well, for once. He nods to your
comment. As for the microbes, they're... odd. They actually flee from
observation, swimming around to stay out of focus, and any probes put in the
water are attacked by them (to little effect)
>Rachel checks the magnification, then looks again. "What about filtering
against them? They're big enough that it should work."
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "I thought about it, but the darn things chew
through the filters."
>Rachel sighs. "I was afraid you were going to say that." She straightens and
turns to face you. "So what _are_ we doing about it, so far?"
>Ryan sweatdrops. "The best plan so far is to just use magic to freeze the whole
damned reservoir. While they have huge lifespans, they don't seem to reproduce...
killing them all at once should keep them from coming back. Might not help
anything that's already been changed, though."
>Rachel asks, "Anybody given blood samples yet?" Her face remains impassive,
though whether she's managing to suppress her revulsion at the thought of what
might be found there or just mask her response to it is hard to say.
>Ryan sighs. "Not yet... I'll take some tomorrow, though. I don't think anyone...
well, any human... has gotten a corrupting dose yet; only things affected have
been those with low body mass, like the rats. But we have to make sure."
>Rachel says, nodding, "Damn straight we do. I'm ready if you are." She holds
out her arm.
>Ryan blinks, and holds up his palm. "Woah, not so fast. I'm not equipped for
medical testing... I can get the proper gear in a day or two, but not right
away."
>Rachel says, "All right. Sorry, I'm just thinking way too fast and on too many
tracks for having just gotten up."
>Ryan exhales. "I know the feeling..." He runs his fingers through his hair, then
finally notices (again) that you're naked. "..."
>Rachel relaxes a little, pushing the microbe issue away from the forefront of
her thoughts with an almost visible effort. "So, besides the obvious, how are
you?"
>Ryan smirks, and sweatdrops again. "Pretty good... I'm just glad we found out
about this -now-, y'know...?"
>Rachel nods. "I know. Even if it _does_ make taking a shower with you now a
bad idea..." She looks genuinely disappointed and a little frustrated.
>Ryan sweatdrops again. "I only have half a gallon of bottled water... yeah, that
idea is out."   ^^;
>Rachel makes the mental translation she's been doing ever since she got here ( .
o O ( 'Bout two liters... )), and nods. "I'll have to pick some up on the way
home so I can get cleaned up."
>Ryan nods. "As far as we can tell, this's only a local phenomenon. Pre-bottled
stuff is okay."
>Rachel says, "Good."
>Rachel says, "If the things don't reproduce, our friends would probably have a
hard time making enough of them to infect a wider area."
>Ryan nods. "Probably just tossed 'em in to corrupt some wildlife, like those
rats. Instant minions, just add water." He's staring at you now, but that's to be
expected.
>Rachel has noticed, and is making no attempt to hide that she's enjoying it.
"Let's just hope they weren't intended to work their way up to bigger game."
>Ryan frowns, and nods. Frown doesn't last too long, though.
>Rachel stretches, arching her back. She says, sarcastically, "Why do I feel
like Sigourney Weaver all of a sudden?"
>Ryan raises an eyebrow. "An interesting analogy. Don't think it's QUITE like
that, though." HE rubs his chin a moment, then appends, "Besides, you're way
better looking then she is."
>Rachel smiles, moving towards you. "Thanks. I'll try to remember that and live
up to it when I'm forty. Or however old she is now."
>Ryan chuckles a moment, then sighs shortly after. Didn't I mention something
about chaotic stuff coming in bunches? Usually seems to happen when we go on
dates.
>Rachel slips her arms around you and hugs. "Thanks for last night."
>Ryan wraps his arms around your waist, happily returning the hug. "Can't think
of a better way to spend an evening. Or a real early morning, in that case."
>Rachel smiles at you warmly, and kisses you gently.
>Ryan smiles in return. Or would, if he weren't being kissed. He does seem to
rush through it, though, as he mentions afterwards, "I'll have to put a warning
up downtown... won't reach everyone, but it'll be a start..." He looks into your
eyes a moment, then appends, "But that can wait until tomorrow morning."
>Rachel arches an eyebrow. "You're sure...?"
>Ryan raises an eyebrow. "Who the heck's gonna be reading the message board at
this hour anyway?"
>Rachel grins, rubbing against you. "True..."
>Ryan rubs your back, slowly, even as you press against him. "With luck,
Spikey'll even formulate a plan to fix this by then."
>Rachel says, "Mmmmm, hope so..."
>Of course, Ryan's idea of a plan was just to flash-freeze all the water in town.
A bit of a logistics problem there, but he doesn't seem to be too concerned with
the details; he is too busy holding you, after all.
>Rachel asks, "So what _did_ you want to do, if you're not going to go post a
message, hmmmm?"
>Ryan smiles innocently. "Oh, study those microbes more, yup. Nothing more
interesting." He tries to keep a straight face, but reaches forward to kiss you
on the nape of the neck. As he pulls back, he continues, "Okay, there are more
