Obelisk : Room 508 - Ryan's Apartment(#618R)
One word springs to mind as you walk into Ryan's apartment: cluttered. Stuff is
strewn everywhere, from the multitude of shelves that line the wall, to the comic
books and CD's on the floor.
The main room, which makes up most of the apartment, has apparently been
relegated to storage duty. Aside from the King-sized bed, the desk, and the TV,
all the rest of the furniture here is book shelves. As you look the shelves over,
you see a roughly equal proportion of both scholarly texts (physics textbooks,
archaeological logs, etc.), and comic books. How unusual. Hooked up to the TV is
a wide variety of video game consoles, some no longer supported.
The small kitchenette and bathroom are comparatively unremarkable.

>In a page-pose to you, Cloud knocks on your door.
>You page-mail "After a long debate yesterday, the hero gang has decided to test
the local water supply. Anything anomolous that can be detected under normal
microscopic observation? (I'm also sending a sample off to be REALLY thoroughly
tested, but that'd be a week or two ICly)" to Alhazad and Harken.
>You page-pose, "Ryan opens the door a crack. "Who is it?"" to Cloud
>Cloud pages, "Cloud." to you.
>Cloud has arrived.
>Ryan crosses his arms. "I'm doing some basic testing on the water right now, but
it won't be done for a while..."
>Cloud nods quietly.
>Cloud asks, "... Anything else?"
>Cloud asks that as he looks towards, well, the phone.
>Ryan sighs, and shakes his head. "Nothing I can do until the tests are done."
>Cloud sighs, looking back at the floor.
>Cloud frowns, looking up towards Ryan. "There's something else I should point
out. Harken visited me once because she was interested in Sephiroth. Do you
suppose...?"
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "They could be related somehow...? Dunno... I
think Harken probably just heard he's a great warrior or something."
>Cloud shakes his head. "... I told her that he was a better swordsman than me.
But... she seemed to imply that she was looking for him, despite what I said
about him being dead."
>Ryan keeps rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, nobody claimed that Harken was
sane."
>Cloud nods quietly. "By the way, Ryan?"
>Cloud asks, "... Something occured to me. Why is it that, ofall the metal
demons, Harken looks the most... human?"
>Cloud says, "(OOC) Or is this something that shouldn't be brought up? x.x"
>Ryan (OOC) There's a reason for it, but I don't remember it offhand n.n;
>Ryan shrugs at Cloud. "No idea, really..."
>Cloud says, "(OOC) I remember the reason was that Harken was one of the early
demon-seed infestations o.o On another planet."
>Cloud frowns. "... Astrid menioned they were going to conquer the planet.
They'd already done it once before. What if the water supply is how...?"
>Ryan scowls. "It's a distinct possibility....starting with minor life, like
these rats, and working upwards. Why conquer if you can convert?"
>Cloud nods. "... Perhaps some of these demons are actually creatures from other
planets that were... demonized?"
>Ryan rubs his chin. "It would explain the variety of...shapes that I've seen
among 'em. Like that Al'hazad guy. And why the 'new' ones are human-like..."
>Cloud frowns. "... But Harken was supposed to be one of the "old ones". So why
is she human-like?"
>Ryan shrugs. "A lot of human-like aliens around, after all. And maybe they can
change shape?"
>Cloud nods quietly, thinking about that. The new ones did, but... Harken didn't.
"Wait. She didn't."
>Ryan hmms? "She might've just been from a humanlike race. I mean, we're
everywhere these days."
>Cloud nods. "Also, have you met Zed?"
>Ryan sweatdrops. "That green-haired lunatic?"
>Cloud nods quietly. "... He's another metal demon?"
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck. "According to him at least."
>Cloud shakes his head. "Quite a few metal demons we've seen so far are...
unstable."
>Ryan sweatdrops again. "Ain't that the truth."
>Cloud asks, "... I wonder who's really the brains directing them, though?"
>Of course, Cloud isn't the one to be talking about mental stability.
>Cloud says, "(OOC) Wah hahaha n.n"
>Ryan shrugs. "That 'mother' person is probably the leader... at least
indirectly."
>Cloud hmmms quietly.
>Cloud says, "... But no one has seen this "Mother""
>Ryan glances to the side. "Maybe Foil knows more... he's been up there before he
died, not as a captive."
>Cloud nods quietly. "So how are we going to talk to ..."
>Ryan says, "Well, we have to track him down. Last I saw him, he was with
Lyrae..."
>Cloud asks, "... wait. He's back?"
>Ryan doesn't know if you know about Foil's current... condition. But he isn't
thinking about that now n.n;
>Cloud says, "Ryannn... Explain."
>Ryan blinks. "Hmm?"
>Cloud asks, "What happened to Foil? He died, didn;t he?"
>Ryan sweatdrops. "Last I checked." n.n;
>Ryan says, "Just makes it a bit harder to talk to 'im."
>Cloud asks, "So where is he now?"
>Ryan shrugs.
>Cloud frowns. "Fine. I want to talk to him."
>Ryan shrugs. "Have to track him down first..."
>Cloud sighs...
>Cloud says, "Fine. Well..."
>Ryan crosses his arms. "Now what, though?"
>Cloud shrugs. "I think I'll see you later."
>Ryan nods to Cloud. "See ya, then."
>Cloud says, "Good afternoon"
>Cloud heads out to the hallway
