City Square

Welcome to the middle of the sleepy (yeah, right), humble mountain city of

Midgaard. The peaks that surround the somewhat smallish sprawl of

constructions about you appear a vibrant, cool purple at this distance..capped

with off-white snow at the tops. Although the town itself recieves little

precipitation from being sheltered by this atol of sheer rock, a cold wind does

comb and filter its way through..providing a brisk, though arid, atmosphere.

On the southwestern pointing end of town, a small, manmade pass in the

mountain valley allows for easy access from the bustling world outside. To

your north and west are the commercial districts..manufacturing, shipping, and

selling various consumable goods. In the east, to the 'horizon', appear to be

homes of various architectural influences..the more wealthy of said houses

bordering a small alpine lake and park. To the south, the middle-class homes

continue, thinning out just before the open gap to the highway beyond.

As for where you stand..it is the Midgaard City Square..Several government

offices and the larger buildings can be found on the sides of the slightly

misnomered elliptical, cobblestoned intersection. No actual automobile traffic

passes here, being routed through the side streets..this is a strictly

pedestrian and bicycle zone. A large, granite fountain with a statue of Odin

atop it towers nearly two stories prominantly in the center. There are also

benches about for taking a quiet repose from the hustle of daily life.

>Kismet walks in from the south.

>Kismet drags in from the south, looking like he got into a fight with a blender

and lost bad.

>Ryan was... um... standing there reading the message board. Not else to note

about him, really. He does glance over at you as you walk in, though.

Kismet

This young man of perhaps twenty has a serious mein that belies his

casual dress. His face is friendly, but thoughtful, and his grey eyes

are deep and unreadable. Honey-coloured blonde hair is pulled back into

a very short ponytail, from which wisps and locks keep escaping to hang

in his eyes. He is about six feet tall, though not overly muscular, and

dressed in jeans and a dark blue t-shirt with the legend "The grave is

no bar to my call" on the left breast.

Over it he sports a many-pocketed tan duster and a long, dark blue

scarf around his shoulders.

Carrying:

pack of cigarettes, coat, and duffel

>Kismet is Bleeding. All over the place. And cursing with an Australian accent

so thick as to be impenetrable.

>Ryan blinks. Showing a remarkable clarity of wit, he asks, "Yo DUDE, what

happened to you?"

>Kismet sees another person and grimaces. "Oi, mate? Izzer a doctor abeht? Oh..

I, uh, got into a bit of a scrap with a rat back theah.." he says gesturing

vaguely with one chewed up hand.

>Ryan blinks again. "A RAT?" Regardless of your answer, he pulls out a cell

phone to call for an ambulance, right before he realizes that the hospital is

right over there.

>Kismet nods. "A big one. Anly, I dan't think it was really a rat. It wasn't

exactly alive in the way thet I'm used to."

>Ryan has had a little... run in with certain giant demon rat things. Don't mind

hm.

>Ryan narrows his eyes. "Daymn man, lets get you to the hospital, then you tell

me where you saw this thingy."

>Kismet says, "Ah, I just need them to check me f'r rabies. I can heal this up

an moi awn."

>Ryan takes that in stride. He does have weird friends after all. "Well,

doctor's right over there -" he points towards the hospital "- Need any help

getting there?"

>Kismet looks in the direction he pointed, "I can manage, thanks, mate." he

smiles. "Na worries."

>Kismet walks off towards the hospital, trying not to get anymore blood on

himself.

>Kismet heads for the city hospital.

>You page, "As you exit, Ryan nods. "Talk to me once you get checked out, eh?

I... uh... gotta inform the sanitation department. Or something."" to Kismet.

>In a page-pose to you, Kismet calls back, "Na worries!"

>Kismet arrives from the city hospital.

>Ryan was standing pretty much where he was when you left. He looks over,

awaiting a verdict of some sort.

>Kismet returns, still bloody, but the wounds are healing beneath the blood.

"Sa. Y'got a gun? Cos I think it may take firearms t'deal with this thing..."

>Ryan blinks. "Gun? Sure... Where was it, anyway?"

>Kismet says, "They're dain' th'blood work, but I wan't know for days. They tald

me t'bring in the thing that bit me if I wanted t'know sooner. I laughed." -.-

 "C'mon, I'll shaw y'"

>Ryan nods. "Lemme go pick up something from my place. And I want to show you

something."

>Kismet falls in line behind you.

>Ryan (OOC) We'll be taking the shortcut, seeing as how I don't feel like walking

Obelisk : Room 508 - Ryan's Apartment(#618R)

One word springs to mind as you walk into Ryan's apartment: cluttered. Stuff is

strewn everywhere, from the multitude of shelves that line the wall, to the

comic books and CD's on the floor.

The main room, which makes up most of the apartment, has apparently been

relegated to storage duty. Aside from the King-sized bed, the desk, and the TV,

all the rest of the furniture here is book shelves. As you look the shelves

over, you see a roughly equal proportion of both scholarly texts (physics

textbooks, archaeological logs, etc.), and comic books. How unusual. Hooked up

to the TV is a wide variety of video game consoles, some no longer supported.

The small kitchenette and bathroom are comparatively unremarkable.

>Ryan arrives, with Kismet following behind.

>Ryan walks in through the door. Really.

>Ryan picks up his blaster rifle (fully charged!) then walks over to the...

fridge? He pulls out a massive... thingy (the tail), and drops it with a *THUD*

on the table. "This look like part of the thing that got ya?"

>Kismet looks around. His wounds are still closing up, and from close by, he

gives off a faint, unpleasant odour, like dead bodies in refrigeration. "Waw.

Y'hev a nice flat!" He inspects the tail closely.

>Kismet touches it gingerly, trying to determine its substance.

>Ryan isn't fond of undead himself, but as long as they aren't trying to swallow

his sould he doesn't give a pitooie either way. "Darn straight, costs a

fortune, though." Of course, he does have that pile of Aztec jewlry on his desk

  c.c

>Kismet grins slightly. "Che.. Sa does the hotel. I've been lookin' f'r a

cheaper place t'stay, but this berg dasn't seem t'ga in f'r law-cast housing."

As the last of the wounds heal up into pink scars, the odour disappears.

>Ryan experimentally prods the Tail. "It's a tough bugger, took a damn sword to

even nick it to get a sample."

>Kismet nods. "Looks like the same thing t'me. I'm tellin' yeh, a gun's th'way

t'ga. A .38'll outdo a sword most all the time."

>Ryan pats his... um... blaster rifle. "And this'll outdo a tank cannon." He

grins like an idiot. It's one of Brianna's outdated designs, but that doesn't

mean it can't cause obscene amounts of damage. "Just don't look directly at it

when I fire, y'might be blinded."

>Ryan . o O ( So... there's more of 'em running around... this CAN'T be a good

sign. )

>Kismet nods solemnly, looking at the rifle. "Oi bet... D'y'mind if I wash up a

bit here first?"

>Ryan points at the bathroom. "Just don't make a mess."

>Kismet goes and cleans up as best he can, and soaks his head in the sink,

coming back with hair dripping into his collar. "Thanks. It's been a helluva

morning, mate." he says gratefully.

>Kismet asks, "Sa. Shall we go do sem past-cantral?"

>Ryan nods, double checking to make sure the saftey's on on this thing. Don't

want to blow up the building after all. "I can buy that. Now, lets go get me

another specimen, eh?"

>Kismet says, "I'm not sure if I hope it's still theah or not."

>You fall in line behind Kismet.

>Kismet heads out to the hallway

>Kismet leaves, with you following after.

Obelisk Apartments: Ground Floor

To the west, facing the street, there is a wide entrance area with a double set

of revolving doors, both appropriate for entry or egress. However, where you

currently stand is more elevated. A set of steps leading from that spacious

hall unto this one, with cargo and service ramps running on either side of

that. Centered directly to the east is a very large reception desk, with

several clerks waiting to serve residents, or prospective customers. To the

south, the wall is marred by the oaken door to the manager's office, while to

either side of the desks are two elevators, and for the more physically adept,

a stairwell.

Tyr Road [200](#228RL)

The 200 block of Tyr Road is almost exclusively fancy hotels and high-rise

apartment buildings. Available in a wide range of designs, from the mundane

box-shape, to more architecturally enthralling towers such as 'The Obelisk'.

Housing this close to the middle of everything isn't cheap, but it isn't as

expensive as owning your own home farther out to the east, either. The area is

also clean..and a few commercial buildings are scattered about..though they're

rather limited.

Tyr Road [100]

While still home to hotels and apartment buildings like its cousin to the north

of the city square, the 100 block is less developed, allowing for a few more

structures of commercial nature to have been installed. Among them are the

inevitable fast food chains you would find near the off-ramp during any of your

highway travels. Speaking of which..to your south..the road divides and loops

about through the gap in the mountains to the highway below..the stepped

cut-through here is quite a marvel of human feat and engineering.

Tyr-to-Sif Alleyway

A quick (sometimes), sneaky, and somewhat risky method of escaping foes,

avoiding monstrous crushing spheres rolling down the street, ducking speeding

cars, and various other common movie gags. The alleyway is also home, you

find, to little rodent friends with glowing, beady eyes..and, much to your

shock and amazement, you also find that these furred companions have sharp

teeth with which to bite into your leg. Maybe it'd be a good idea to get out

of here as soon as you can.

got *cats* at home. o_o" to Kismet and you.

>Ryan hmmphs. "Should've expected it'd have run by now..."

>Kismet curses quietly. "Demn."

>In a page-pose to Harken and you, Kismet o.o; "But I -did-! It was

_roight theah-! Bit the pissah outta me!"

>Ryan looks around for the giant demon rat thingy. Not that it's much help,

you'd probably notice it fairly quickly if it was here.

>Kismet says, "I dan't think it could really hide in a treshcan, though..."

>Ryan grumbles. "Probably not."

>Kismet says, "Maybe it went out t'thother street."

>Kismet leaves, with you following after.

Sif Way [100]

Sif Way is the hovel of those 'fad' businesses, as well as more high-tech ones.

You can also find low-cost housing here..if you can put up with the noise of

having people drive in and out of the stores and shops next door constantly.

To be found along either side of the road are a garish mixture of weight loss

registries, lawyer's offices, video game arcades, video rental stores, beer and

liquor stores (Licensed ones..for bootlegging, you'd have to go to West Thor

Boulevard), computer and electronic shops, comic book stores. All that, and

much much more. Some of the shops also have an extra floor upstairs, with an

apartment or two for rent at a low cost as an extra way to make some money in

the off seasons.

>Kismet lets out a whoosh of relieved breath. "Thank god."

>Ryan smirks. "Excellent!"

>Ryan . o O ( Ectoplasm? )

here!" . o O ( Possibly several... there's at least two, even if one is

dead... )

>Kim says, "Demon rodent? o.o;"

>Kismet is staring off into space distractedly.
