City Square
Welcome to the middle of the sleepy (yeah, right), humble mountain city of
Midgaard. The peaks that surround the somewhat smallish sprawl of
constructions about you appear a vibrant, cool purple at this distance..capped
with off-white snow at the tops. Although the town itself recieves little
precipitation from being sheltered by this atol of sheer rock, a cold wind does
comb and filter its way through..providing a brisk, though arid, atmosphere.
On the southwestern pointing end of town, a small, manmade pass in the
mountain valley allows for easy access from the bustling world outside. To
your north and west are the commercial districts..manufacturing, shipping, and
selling various consumable goods. In the east, to the 'horizon', appear to be
homes of various architectural influences..the more wealthy of said houses
bordering a small alpine lake and park. To the south, the middle-class homes
continue, thinning out just before the open gap to the highway beyond.
As for where you stand..it is the Midgaard City Square..Several government
offices and the larger buildings can be found on the sides of the slightly
misnomered elliptical, cobblestoned intersection. No actual automobile traffic
passes here, being routed through the side streets..this is a strictly
pedestrian and bicycle zone. A large, granite fountain with a statue of Odin
atop it towers nearly two stories prominantly in the center. There are also
benches about for taking a quiet repose from the hustle of daily life.

>Ryan shakes his head. "Not a thing... like a ghost town."

to keep from scaring pedestrians too much.
>Kataki snaps shut his Pokedex, and puts it in a vest pocket, and begins to
study the people, finding Gengar sitting at his side.
>Cloud looks towards the others. "Then it's likely to be one of the hotel
rooms..."
>Ryan crosses his arms. "Best bet, I'd say."
>Cloud points south. "That way, then."
>Ryan nods to Cloud. "Lead on."
>Derek nods, looks over his shoulder at his sword, and then over towards the
hotel..

Tyr Road [100]
While still home to hotels and apartment buildings like its cousin to the north
of the city square, the 100 block is less developed, allowing for a few more
structures of commercial nature to have been installed. Among them are the
inevitable fast food chains you would find near the off-ramp during any of your
highway travels. Speaking of which..to your south..the road divides and loops
about through the gap in the mountains to the highway below..the stepped
cut-through here is quite a marvel of human feat and engineering.

>Derek mutters and crosses his arms..
>Kim runs out onto the street, dragging Lyrae along behind her.
>Green haired girl shouts, "S..slow down!"
>Ryan blinks as the two enters. He has the blaster slung over his shoulder.

>Kim scoops up Lyrae suddenly into her arms, "We don't have time! We have to
get as far away from here as possible!"
>Green haired girl squeaks as she gets scooped up, too puzzled to even protest..

>Janus frowns for a moment, and then gazes over towards Kim, and blinks right
after. . o O ( Her... She was with Lyrae, and that other. )
>Derek looks over and arches an eyebrow O_o
>Kim looks around, taking a brief moment to pick a direction.
>Green haired girl doesn't notice the others yet.. "Please Kim.." she whispers
hoarsely, "Let's just get out of here before she comes.."

Tyr Road [200](#228RL)
The 200 block of Tyr Road is almost exclusively fancy hotels and high-rise
apartment buildings. Available in a wide range of designs, from the mundane
box-shape, to more architecturally enthralling towers such as 'The Obelisk'.
Housing this close to the middle of everything isn't cheap, but it isn't as
expensive as owning your own home farther out to the east, either. The area is
also clean..and a few commercial buildings are scattered about..though they're
rather limited.

Intersection: Thor/Tyr
This intersection is relatively nice, if not for the lingering darkness to the
west on Thor Street. Luckily, all the streetlamps here are replaced
regularly..any graffiti is cleaned up almost immediately..and a neighbourhood
police patrol keeps an eye out for any shifty and suspicious types wandering
about. To the east, Thor Boulevard is a much more lively and light
place..housing many people in small housing complexes, and a few larger,
upper-middle class homes. To the South, Tyr Road continues in that direction,
with a mixture of hotels and apartment buildings. To the north, it seems to
disperse at an obscure point..though a few eateries catering to myriad tastes
can be seen.

Main Room
This is a sizable and comfy room of a relatively small cafe on the corner of
Thor East and Tyr. Tables are lined about neatly in an L coordination about a
likely L-shaped counter, where foot stools are placed for extra seating.
Behind the counter, a large cutout in the wall allows communication between the
registreers and the cooks, and the waitress or waiter on duty moves back and
forth from this room to the kitchen through a wooden door placed to the side of
it. Set into the northeastern corner, are two public payphones, the restrooms,
and some stairs, apparently leading up to an apartment above. There is little
to know decoration of the mostly wood-furnished structure, and what there is
seems to be following a 50s theme. With a few nostalgic objects of yore, most
notably a jukebox. (Use 'menu' and 'order' to order things.)

Right away, as he notices her he approaches Kim, as he narrows his eyes. "Damn
you... I'm not letting you get away while my sister is in danger. Where is
she?"
>Green haired girl curls up where she's hiding.. watching Kim carefully in case
she makes a movement that says beware.

>Green haired girl quietly says, "....janus.."
>Kim says, "N-Nanda?" o.o;;
>Janus's eyes blink for a moment, at _that voice_. He immediatly snaps his head
over towards her after, blinking once more. "....Lyrae.."

Lyrae
A soft rustle of clothing draws your attention, and you see before you a girl
of twenty years of age. Her complexion is lightly tanned, her hair a dark black
shade with a slight greenish shine to it. Her emerald eyes (emerald? Weren't
they *Black* before?) are intense, telling of some mystery, her chiseled
features almost giving her the resemblance of a china doll. There is an almost
lively sparkle in her eyes from time to time, though more often than not she
seems to be holding herself back. Her mouth seems still to be turned into an
eternal pout, or is it a worried one? She stands at about 5'6" or so, and her
frame is slender, her curves filling out her figure attractively. Funny.. she
bears a striking resemblance to someone..
Her hair, left to cascade down her back gently, is styled freely, with the most
of it curving around to her left shoulder, her hair falling in front of the
left half of her face, despite her attempts to keep it in place. Noting your
glance, she blushes nervously, blinking from behind the curtain of her hair.
All in all, the effect gives her an almost..coquettish look.. Dressing for free
movement with a smidge of comfort in mind, her choice of attire is still your
basic black. A black strapless blouse, covered with a black leather jacket
that hangs slightly off of her shoulders, covers her upper half, while a pair
of snug fitting black jeans, matching socks and soft sole shoes complete her
attire.

>Janus looks towards her for a few more moments, until he sighs briefly. He
then says, "I will not lecture you on your new choice of styles, since right
now I am far more worried for your well being. Are you allright, my dear
sister?"
>Lyrae stares at Janus.. and everything.. EVERYTHING she was put through just
floods out, "YOU THINK I ASKED TO LOOK LIKE TIHS!?!"
>Ryan slings the blaster over his shoulder. That probably wasn't helping before.
>Cloud says, "..." as he looks over at Kim, arms crossed, studying he... well,
not anymore. *looks at Lyrae at her outburst*
>Kim closes her eyes, wincing at the shout
>Lyrae snaps her head in the opposite direction, trembling viciously,
...remembering the last few minutes and hugging herself tightly, "I'm just
great."
>Janus's eyes then blinks, as he steps back. ".....What?" he then narrows his
eyes forward after, and asks, "I see...... Esmerelda did this to you... Where
is she?"
>Ryan blinks in confusion. That PHd in Archaeology doesn't cover this o.o
>Derek shoves his way up to Janus and grabs him by the arm, "Hey, can't you at
least be a LITTLE happy to see her?!?"
>Derek says, "Give her a hug, do something, dammit... -_-"
>Lyrae looks at Janus..then blinks at Derek. .. then turns to Kim, motioning to
her.
>Kim leans down to Lyrae. o.o;
>Lyrae mumbles, ".. .. .. don't tell .. .." to Kim.
>Kim shakes her head
>Harken . o O ( Esmerelda... it appears the Magus was right. She is fierce. But
can she do more than frighten young girls? )
>Janus frowns towards Derek, and blinks for a moment. He then tugs his arm
away, then nods for a moment. After, he pauses for only a minute, until he
moves over towards Lyrae, and leans down over to her to wrap his arms around
her. "Don't worry my sister, I am here for you. I will not let her touch you
again. Ever."
>Ryan crosses his arms. "People like her REALLY cheese me off something awful..."
>Lyrae gives Kim an unsettled, but slightly relieved look..then turns her head
away, tensing at the touch.. and uttering hoarsely, "..don't touch me..."
>Kim steps back as Janus embraces Lyrae
>Derek looks at Lyrae a moment, still looking rather upset, then frowns, "Why?"
>Kim rubs her neck, scratching at the choker attached around it, as she glances
around at the other people here.
>Cloud sighs faintly, studying Kim, wondering if she truly is Lyrae's friend, or
a lure to the serpent woman's clutches.
>Janus's eyes blink for a moment at Lyrae, ".....Why, Lyrae? I don't
understand. Why are you pushing me away?"
>Lyrae abruptly melts into a pool of mist..reforming several feet away with her
back turned, arms crossed.. "I warned you."
>Derek stares o_o
>Ryan blinks o.o "What the?"
>Harken . o O ( ... so.... )
>Cloud says, "........."
>Derek looks at Kim, then at her neck . o O ( That choker.. )
>Kim is the only one who doesn't seem surprised.
>Lyrae turns around slightly to fix her emerald gaze on Kim's face.. her
opposite hand lightly touching her choker..
>Janus's eyes blink at Lyrae for a moment, and he immediatly narrows his eyes
forward. "Tell me where she is. I warned her what I would do if she laid even
one more finger on you."
>Lyrae looks at Janus. "You still don't get it."
>Ryan scowls. "I knew it... I knew I was right..."
>Kim stares back at Lyrae, then blinks, noticing her touching her own choker.
She quickly lowers her hand.
>Derek shakes his head, clenching his eyes as tightly as his fists are. A low
growl starts to leak from his mouth, then explodes, "DAMN IT!"
>Janus frowns. "Does it matter? He hurt you, took away your own freedom.....
that I can not forgive. I will do what I can to have her set you free."
>Harken . o O ( ....interesting.... )
>Ryan cracks his knuckles nervously
>Lyrae quietly says, "...I went into the agreement of my own free will.
Regardless of the risks.. You can and will do nothing to her. The repercussions
will be ..distasteful.." She claps a hand to her mouth, remembering
the..crunching.. and continues, looking ill, "I'm in this for as long as I
agreed to it. YOu can't do anything about it Janus.. so you may as well get
used to it.." She turns pale. "Now if you'll excuse me.. I may be ill.." She
turns around and bolts into the rest rooms to do just that.
>Kim watches Lyrae go, before taking another look around at the crowd....slowly
backing away from them.
>Derek turns and hisses at Kim, "Tell me what the HELL is going on..." He steps
after her..
>Ryan frowns, and scowls. "..."
>Kim meeps! stopping in her tracks. O.O
>Derek does NOT look like he's the kind of person you want to make madder right
now..
>Janus narrows his own eyes forward, as he walks back towards Lyrae as he yells
towards her, "AND ESMERELDA TOLD ME WHY! *I AM NOT WORTH IT, LYRAE! YOUR LIFE
MEANS FAR MORE THAN MY OWN!*"
>Kim coughs, shaking her head, re-orginizing her senses quickly.
>Harken . o O ( It seems Esmerelda is one who makes powerful enemies... )
>Kim says, "Derek, please...calm down...." o.o
>Lyrae steps out of the rest room a moment after, "You didn't read the note very
well did you." She utters under her breath to Janus, "This has *NOTHING* to do
with you."
>Lyrae steadies herself, placinng a hand against the wall. o O ( .. god.. )
>Lyrae adds as an afterthought, "And don't yell. It's impolite."
>Derek reaches back for his sword, "No...not until I know what's going on...and
what can be done to remedy it." His voice has a sort of flat tone to it
>Janus frowns, and shakes his head, "Esmerelda _told_ me that part of the deal
was to protect me, Lyrae."
>Lyrae quietly says, "Esmerelda was mistaken."
>Harken . o O ( Where do the other men stand in this matter? )
>Kim says, "Please don't draw your weapon..." o.o shrinking back a bit
>Janus says, "And, eitherway. If it puts you in danger, it has *everything* to
do with me. You are my sister, and I can _never_ let you be harmed."
>Kim says, "I don't want to hurt you.." o.o
>Lyrae looks at Janus, "Did you honestly think she'd tell you the real reason?
Come on now Janus, I thought you were more clever than that." She blinks, her
attention suddenly drawn by Derek and Kim.
>Ryan says, in a plain monotone, "... All of you have been keeping far too many
secrets far too long, and look where it's got you. If nobody here starts
talking, I'm going to fight her myself, since obviously none of you are in a
rush to fix things..."
>Lyrae hisses, "You're all far too eager to run to your own deaths.. Fighting
her will solve *NOTHING*"
>Derek looks calmly at Kim. Almost TOO calmly, "Don't worry about that...just
tell me what the hell is going on..."
>Janus frowns. "I never said she would tell me everything. Although, I know
that if you had not added in the deal for her not to harm me at least, then she
would of tried to kill me earlier."
>Kim says, "....."
>Lyrae walks towards Derek, reaching a hand out to his arm, "Derek. Enough.."
Lyrae looks over her shoulder, "It's my life."
>Janus shakes his head slowly, "Wrong. I would be fighting for something I
believe in." He then looks _right_ at Lyrae, and comments, "And, you I believe
in."
>Derek turns and looks at Lyrae for a moment...his arm almost visibly shaking
before he lets go of his sword, "But...Lyrae..."
>Lyrae narrows her green eyes, which flash brightly, "*Wrong*? Are you saying it
isn't my life?"
>Harken . o O ( "...I gain nothing, but I also lose nothing. Fighting for
something you believe in is not foolish...." What--? )
>Cloud leans back against a wall, watching.
>Kim slips away with the distraction from Lyrae, moving to the other side of the
cafe, sliding into a booth.
>Janus frowns. "I am not saying its not your life. But, I am saying each of our
lives effects the other. Does it not?"
>Lyrae glances back towards Derek..her new senses picking up on something as she
looks at him. She sighs softly and reaches up to fluff his hair gently. Her
eyes glow briefly once more as she glances in Janus's direction..
>Kim watches from afar, slumping in the seat.
>Kim. o O (She's changed her so....)
>Ryan . o O ( Damn... maybe if Dr. Diggers was here... he specializes in this
type of stuff... )
>Kim looks around
>Lyrae looks dead at Janus. o O ( He'll never undrestand.. )
>Kim. o O (She'll be here soon....)
>Derek blinks, almost jerking his head back O_o; He glances at her for a moment
before the shaking that was in his arm seizes his whole body and he falls to
his knees, his fist striking the floor, "Dammit...why..?"
>Lyrae squeaks at Derek in alarm, and drops to her knees lightly in front of
him, "Derek?"
>Kim says, "...."
>Janus blinks for a moment, as he immediatly touches his cheek for one reason or
another. He frowns after. And, says, "Lyrae.... Why are you pushing me away?
We were once so close to one another before Esmerelda. And, now you are
pushing myself, and everyone else away. What happened to you? What happened
to the Lyrae I knew?"
>Kim looks down at the table.
>Lyrae looks at Kim..not responding to Janus' question.
>Lyrae mumbles, ".. .. .. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .. .." to Kim.
>Derek mutters, his head hanging sadly, "Why, Lyrae..? This...isn't..." . o O (
..isn't RIGHT.. ) "Why..?"
>Kim mms....acknowledging Lyrae rather than responding to her.
>Janus frowns, and he moves away from her after, turning towards the door. "I
see. So, she killed.... Who you are.... For that, Esmerelda's own life shall
be the payment." He then falls silent, and continues on towards the door after.
>Lyrae blinks at Derek, resting a hand on his head gently...blinks at Janus'
words, closing her eyes. o O ( ...even after all this time... )
>Lyrae . o O ( Mother would be disappointeed in him. )
>Derek's hand suddenly snaps up and grabs at Lyrae's wrist, his head lifting up
to look at her, "How long? And what's she making you do?"
>Kim gasps, her eyes widening
>Lyrae blinks, and almost scrambles backwards..tensing just slightly at the look
in his eyes.. "...." and experimentally tugs at her wrist
>Cloud sighs, watching the scene unfold.
>Derek holds on for a moment, then lets go, "I'm not trying to keep you, Lyrae..
I just want to help...any way I can..." He lowers his head again, "You,
Kim...anyone who needs it... Esmerelda's gone too far."
>Kim says, "......."
>Lyrae glances at Kim..then looks back to Derek, bringing her hands down to cup
his chin and tilt his head upwards to look at her..
>Cloud nods silently, agreeing with Derek.
>Lyrae quietly says, "....Forty years.. Espionage."
>Derek looks up, brows drawn tightly downward..
>Kim closes her eyes, looking down, letting Lyrae speak
>Derek shakes his head a little, "No...you're not telling me everything,
Lyrae..."
>Lyrae keeps his chin cupped in one hand, smiling sadly, as she brushes her hand
against his face lightly, "Don't worry..maybe I'll get an early retirement.."
>Lyrae blinks once at the last. o O ( I don't think I *CAN* tell you
everything.. ) She looks past him towards Cloud and the others.
>Cloud returns the look, cool and distant.
>Kim says, "Lyrae...."
>Derek turns his head away, "....." He clenches his fists again
>Kim says, "We...we should go soon....."
>Derek . o O ( No... )
>Janus has disconnected.
>Lyrae blinks at Derek's move.. wincing slightly. She leans forward quickly to
give him a kiss on the cheek, then gets to her feet, turning to Kim. "All
right. One second.." She walks towards Cloud and Ryan.

actually breaking it. He turns and pants, "Just......go..."

>Kim looks up slightly, glancing around the room once before hiding her eyes

take care of yourselves.." She blinks away tears and quickly follows after Kim.

would be awfully low..."

>Derek walks in from the street outside.

>Derek steps back in, hands in his pockets, "Lemme just pay for the table and
I'll be ready..." His voice has little emotion to it

>Cloud says, "... it's all right... we should be going to sleep soon, but
tomorrow..." his voice carries a tone of promise.

nervously, but takes the money anyway..
