Seventh Heaven Bar - Main Room
Tifa's Seventh Heaven Bar has a campy feeling to it, primarily constructed of
dark wood with occasional items for decoration. Several worn tables grace the
area near the door, looking beaten up from years of patrons. The bar is more
well kept, stocked with a vast amount of alcoholic beverages and components for
mixed drinks. The room is just a tad dimly lit, feeling cozy and familiar at
the same time. Other areas of interest are the entrance to the kitchen, and a
porch with some comfy chairs. All in all, the Seventh Heaven is a nice tribute
to what someone can put together for a business if they try. A machine for a
game similar to pinball sits on the less used side of the room, sporting an
"Out of Order" sign. Most of the damage that was obvious only a little while
ago is now repaired with more permenant fixes, so the bar once again is back to
it's former self.

>Astrid shrugs slightly. "Yes. I suppose. It is not something I know a great
deal about."
>Susano shrugs back. He's seated on the counter chatting with Astrid. He waves
over to Ryan. "Hey, kid! This guy over here says your friend's alright!"
>Ryan takes a seat at the bar, exhaling with a sigh
Astrid
This dark-skinned young man is altogether unprepossessing, and tends to
be easily overlooked at first. Fine blue-black hair is tied back at the
nape of his neck before falling halfway down his back, and his eyes, a
brilliant green, are alert and interested. On second thought, Astrid is
rather striking; how did you overlook him in the first place? He wears
a pair of stonewashed jeans and a burgundy muscle shirt, which shows
off his nice physique well. Tennis shoes of ancient origin (or so their
state hints) protect his feet, and he almost constantly bends to re-tie
their laces, which seem predisposed to the untied state.
Carrying:
>Susano goes on. "You know, the blondie."
>Ryan looks up. "Come again?" Blink. "That's good..." . o O ( Wait, he must be
a... )
>Astrid turns to regard Ryan gravely. He sets his beer down, abandoning it
almost completely full.
>Susano nods to Astrid, grinning. "Told you they'd be excited." He glances at
the glass, picking it up. "Do you mind?" Cradling it, he asks Ryan.
"Wassamadder, boy? Who's picking on you now?"
>Astrid shrugs his permission to Susano, studying Ryan intently.
>Ryan raises an eyebrow in Susano's direction, ignoring him for a moment to
focus in on Astrid. "Can't say I've seen you around before."
>Astrid says quietly, "I come and go."
>Susano lits his glass of beer to his mouth, taking a long sip, draining it like
he did the other glass. And watching the silent, half-funny intercourse.
>Ryan shrugs. "Go fig." He reaches up to rub his chin. "Makes me wonder though,
how you knew spikey was alright. Of course, I'm just a curious kinda guy."
>Astrid repeats, as though memorizing the name, "Ryan." He nods. "I... I merely
thought to tell you your friend is well."
>Ryan nods. "Just wondering, though... how do you know he's well?"
>Astrid hesitates, and then says quietly, "Because I am one of Mother's
children. I am a metal demon."
>Ryan raises an eyebrow. "Suspected as much." He smirks. "Say... you haven't
seen Harken around, have ya?"
>Astrid says, "No; not today."
>Ryan hmms, and shrugs. "I was just expecting to run into her sometime... eh,
nevermind."
>Susano hops off the counter. "Who's Harken again?"
>Astrid considers. "Today's the third day, if that's what you mean."
>Ryan nods to Astrid, then glances over at Susano. "Lady. She carries a scythe.
Great fun at parties."
>Susano suddenly looks outside, bunching up his coat and heading out, without so
much as a goodbye. Bedtime.
>Astrid supplies, "She is one of the elders--a Quarter Knight."
>Ryan rubs the back of his neck . o O ( Well, if she isn't gonna show up,
might as well order a beer or something... )
>Astrid blinks. o O ( Strange sort of god... )
>Susano has left.
>Ryan blinks, looking over at Astrid. "Oh? You have social ranks? Didn't know
that." He smiles. "I'm an archaeologist, I specialize in ancient
civilizations." . o O ( And tomb robbing. ) "You'll have to tell me all
about demon culture sometime."
>Astrid says reluctantly, "I'm not certain I can do that."
>Harken has arrived.
>Foil_Riposte has arrived.
>Foil idly follows a bit after Harken..not saying anything..crossing his arms as
he leans against the doorframe. Just watching
>Ryan raises an eyebrow, and looks down at his watch. "Hmm, was expecting you a
bit earlier."
>Harken gives Ryan a slow smirk. "I thought I'd give you till nightfall; you
looked like you needed all the time you could get, baby. Do you have it?"
>Ryan stands up. "The maps? Well, I started piecing them together, until I
realized all roads lead to Rome, so I figured it was kind of pointless after
that." He shrugs. He has maps in his apartment (half of 'em faked), but he's
hoping not to have to hand 'em over.
>Foil arches an eyebrow at this..but still remains out of this conversation.
Harken mirrors Foil's gesture, raising an eyebrow to study Ryan disdainfully.
"I thought you held Strife's life in higher esteem than that. Strife's, and
your own."
>Ryan shrugs. "I said it before... these things are hard to come by. And I
imagine you wouldn't want errors in your data, so..."
>Foil . o O ( what in the hell is he doing..he never mentioned anything about
Maps.... if he's selling out I swear.... )
>Ryan isn't. No way in hell he's handing over maps of the water system to a
malevolent alien!
>Harken orders, "Let me see them." She seems reluctant to consider the
information at all, considering the alternative option, but...
>Ryan shrugs. "Don't have them on me. Have a pen, I can sketch a copy on a
napkin..."
>Astrid heads behind the bar. He was back there earlier. After a moment, he
wordlessly offers a pen and a napkin to Ryan. "......"
>Foil's eyes turn over to Astrid..he frowns sincerely... but again says nothing.
>Ryan sweatdrops, taking the items. He coughs, and turns his back to Harken,
scribbling for a moment, before turning back to her and holding up the finished
product, a napkin that reads, "Ever think of trying the reservoir?"
>Astrid looks distinctly uncomfortable.
>Ryan says, "Now, I can go into more detail if you want it, of course."
>Foil . o O ( WHAT is he DOING? Reservoir... what kind of plans do they want?
Aw @#$%..if they're doing what I think they are... Damnit why didn't Ryan tell
me x.x )
>Harken looks, for a brief moment, as though she's going to be terribly
angry--then she bows her head to chuckle quietly. "You've got spirit,
sweetheart. A pity you've got to die." When she raises her head, her golden
eyes have a familiar, battle-hungry light to them.
>Ryan sighs. "Darn it, I had plans for tomorrow."
>Foil makes a note of what was just said..deciding to follow up on something
later..but for now..watches Ryan . o O (Alright dude...go to it)
>Harken says, "As challenged in Strife's place, the choice of location is yours,
Twinblade."
>Ryan raises his index finger. "The mountainside forest to the north. I want a
little fresh air while I fight, of course."
>Harken nods shortly. "I'm familiar with the area."
>Foil . o O ( Perfect. )
>Harken falls in line behind you.
>Foil . o O ( I'll just watch this from afar.. )
>Ryan (OOC) carries foil then
>Foil_Riposte falls in line behind you.

Tyr Road [300]
The apartment buildings and hotels give way to smaller, less expensive and
privately owned buildings of like sort. Then those eventually dwindle to what
you find on either side of you now. Yes, various scents of delicious food of a
wide assortment of styles, flavours, and nationalities entices your olfactorial
senses..attempting to lure you in for a bite, or five. Make no mistake,
however. It doesn't come as cheap as those fast food places around southern
Tyr Road..though you'll definately appreciate the higher quality. At a point
up ahead, the road and street becomes an unpaved trail, towards the start of
the steep walls that the mountain atol surrounding Midgaard creates. A deep
gorge carved by forces long forgotten and lost to legend is to the west
here..and a suspension bridge has been erected so that pedestrians might take a
stroll across it to Sif Way to the east, and marvel at it.

Foot of Paozu Mountain
Standing at the foot of the vast Mount. Paozu, it sure is a site.
Surrounded by forest on all sides, even leaching onto the mountain, the
place holds certain bueaty to its sereneness. You can hear far off
water trickling, as some sort of pond or something is running on this
mountain. You see a narrow dirt path starting up the mountain, which
seems used a lot, for it is really patted down into the ground. The
mountain seems like the ideal place to let a load off, it might not hurt
to stay a while.

Mountain Path
You're standing along a narrow path, which winds up and down Paozu
mountain. Trees blotch the entire area, providing the rest of the
greenery that the grass does not give. The whole scene appears
very serene and peaceful, perfect for a picnick or some sort. Wild
bird calls are heard ringing over the mountain, singing their songs
of life and times. Flowers bloom along the edge of the rugged path,
leaning to the walkway. A grasshopper abruptly jumps across your
feet, and dissapears into the grass.

>Ryan arrives, with Harken and Foil_Riposte following behind.
>Oh, look. The nice cleared-out place that Uriel blazed down. No fear of
overhanging branches.
>Ryan looks around . o O ( Hmm... trees are about 5 meters apart. Perfect. )
"This should do."
>Harken . o O ( My reach will be hampered considerably. Sharp, Twinblade. Just
as I anticipated. Excellent. )
>Ryan turns back to Harken. "Now then, will you be using the scythe, or going
hand-to-hand, like me?"
>Harken hefts her scythe. "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, baby, and not
insult you by discarding my weapon of choice."
>Foil . o O ( Figgered. Just stick to the plan dude... )
>Ryan hmms . o O ( Dammit... things'll be interesting then ) He cracks his
knuckles. "Whenever you're ready..."
>Harken . o O ( I should probably have had Al'Hazad repair the damage from my
battle with Strife... ah, well. At least my armor is intact again. )
>Ryan puts his right foot forward, standing on his toes, both hands forward,
open palmed... those familiar with such things will recognize this stance as
typical of... Spansih ninjutsu
>Where'd he learn that?
>Harken drops into a half-crouch, her scythe held at an angle, one hand high on
its haft and the other farther down. She gives Ryan a formal salute. "Come,
then, Twinblade. Let's see what you're made of."
>Harken . o O ( ....Huh, Does he use Vega's style? )
>Foil . o O ( Ninjitsu? Ahwell..good for this..lets hope he knows it well
enough... c'mon Ryan I'm banking on you.. )
>Ryan smirks at Harken . o O ( She's giving me the first attack... likely to
counter with that scythe of hers... well then, time to have some fun. ). He
crouches down... waiting... suddenly, in the blink of an eye, he leaps! But...
oddly enough... not towards Harken, but towards one of the trees... he rolls in
the air, landing against and kicking off the tree's trunk, now 40' in the air,
directly above Harken . o O ( Now, lets she how she does from an overhead
attack). He falls straight down, feet together, hands extended to his sides
>Foil . o O ( aw crap... )
>Ryan has a plan, don't worry, Foil. Just make sure to catch his head.
>Harken takes in Ryan's actions, and quickly makes her decision. Her best option
here seems clear: Don't be where she was when Ryan--and the treetop--lands. She
leaps backwards, putting herself well out of range.
>Ryan lands on the ground with a muffled *wfft*, crouching low for only a second
to ponder the situation. Hmm... no damage from a 40' fall, go figure. He
immediately dashes towards Harken's left side (or right side, if she's
left-handed), with intent to get around her (and, it might not be immediately
obvious, to the tree behind her)
>Harken abandons the idea of striking Ryan with the scythe's blade, and spins
the weapon in the opposite direction, lashing out on the left with the metal
haft. She can dice Ryan, or brain him... it's all the same to her.
>Ryan smirks. Well then, wasn't expecting to get away without a counterattack
from her... lets see what we can do here, eh? Ryan, springs up ever so
slightly, using the momentum from his run to propel himself with a minimum of
energy. He lands.... right on the horizontal butt of the staff!? Talk about
balance... wasting nary a millisecond, he runs up the staff (!?) towards
Harken's arm (!?)
>Harken's eyes widen, and she abruptly gives the staff another heave as she
crouches low, attempting to toss Ryan off the staff's haft and over her
head--and, possibly, right into a tree.
>Ryan was expecting THAT as well... a guard in Afganistan used a similar trick
against him 4 years ago. As the butt of the staff is heaved, Ryan kicks off,
leaping up into the tree, swinging on a low branch to vault him higher, and out
of immediate retaliation range...
>Foil . o O ( Oh hell yeah! Go man go! But stop playing with her... c'mon... )
>Ryan . o O ( Darn it, I can't get close enough... )
>Ryan waits for Harken's reaction before he returns to ground level...
>Harken leaps toward the base of Ryan's tree, sending the scythe in another
graceful arc and cutting through the tree's base. Let's just clear some room to
fight...
>Foil . o O ( Crap. )
>Ryan . o O ( Well, at least I've gauged her attack power... can't use a tree to
block the scythe )
>Ryan immediately kicks off from where he was watching, and to the side, to
avoid being crushed by an errant trunk. Oddly, he doesn't leap away; instead,
he pushes off the falling tree with his hands, attempting to get to the ground
- behind Harken - as soon as possible... hopefully before she can counterattack.
>Harken moves back out of the way of her handiwork. She had, indeed, begun to
consider a counterattack. As Ryan leaps for the exact spot SHE was headed for,
she awkwardly changes the course of her retreat, moving to one side and
orienting herself toward the skydiving opponent. She is grinning
fiercely.
>Hmm, so Ryan will be landing in front of Harken, yes?
>Harken (OOC) works through that in her mind. Wait. Yes.
>Ryan's orientation doesn't matter, just Harken's. Is her scythe still forward,
or at least to the side, after the slice?
>By the time Ryan lands? No; back en guard. Fast Draw is -nice-. Question for
you, also--how similar to Vega's style is Ryan's?
>Exactly identical. Of course, who said Ryan was restricted to ONE style...?
Anyway...
>Nobody; just let me know if it changes, okay?
>Ryan lands in a crouch, giving Harken plenty of time to counter attac- hmm?
What is that idiot doing!? He immediately springs towards Harken, upwards at
about a 40 degree angle... seeing as how the scythe range is as long as Ryan's
body, it'll be difficult to strike back immediately... He extends his open
hand, reaching for the shoulder of Harken's weapon arm...!
>Harken whispers, "This would be much easier if I knew anything about Gold
Digger. I have no idea what Ryan's speed, power, and skill are like. Forgive me
if I misinterpret something. Or better yet, correct me." to you.
>You whisper, "Ryan, in essence, is the ultimate athlete. Olympic level
everything, or possibly beyond. It's the tradeoff for having no conscious use
of chi attacks. Basically, any move that even theoretically possible, Ryan can
do." to Harken.
>Harken, guessing Ryan's target too late to avoid the attack, throws herself
back, already falling groundward when Ryan's hand connects with her armored
bicep. Odd. The metal is warm to the touch.
>Foil . o O ( DO IT! )
>Ryan wastes no time now... he reaches towards his left pocket, immediately
afterwards jabbing towards the inside elbow of Harken's weapon arm with the
non-grasping hand...!
>You whisper, "Is just going to shove a small piece of scrap metal into the
joint, to restrict your mobility n.n" to Harken.
>Harken whispers, "Oooh. Nice. That'll slow her down for a while." to you.
>You whisper, "Of course, he won't stop with that, but he wants to see the
results before continuing..." to Harken.
>Harken grunts as she hits the ground, probably with Ryan pinning one arm. She
pulls the scythe as close to her body as possible, and rolls--in Ryan's
direction. He can move out of the way, or face the possibility of bein tumbled
--no pun intended--under a largish woman in armor.
>While Ryan wouldn't really mind Harken being on top, now isn't the time for
thoughts like that. He pushes away from Harken, in the opposite direction of
her roll... the instant he sees he's clear, he tries to grab for the shaft of
Harken's staff.
>Okay. He's got a grip on the staff. And Harken is still rolling, intent on
getting to her feet in the same smooth move. Time to play tug-of-war.
>Foil . o O ( Did he get it in? I can't see... )
>Ryan doesn't tug, actually... he pushes on the staff, attempting to use it to
trip harken up as she tries to get to her feet. This is only a momentary
diversion... in the process, he thrusts forward with his other hand, palm open,
towards Harken's front (or back, if that's what's facing him)
>You whisper, "... To get a grip on the collar of the armor, to keep us close
enough to avoid any nasty scythe cuts n.n" to Harken.
>Harken whispers, "Heh." to you.
>Harken's balance is sure; she rises smoothly, scythe still before her, although
she abruptly realizes what Ryan has done to her armor's joint as her right arm
doesn't -quite- respond as it should. In the meantime, she notices her
opponent's gotten a grip on what there is of her collar-and immediately takes
steps to rectify this. She's not above a good old-fashioned head-bash. Moving
forward to place herself as close to Ryan as possible, she snaps her head
forward and down. The scythe is, I assume, pinned between them.
>Astrid has arrived.
>Vincent has arrived.
>Astrid arrives, with Vincent following behind.
>Astrid arrives quietly from the mountain's base, leading Vincent. The pair stop
safely out of range as Astrid sets a hand on Vincent's arm, pulling up short.
"..... There."
>Foil is currently some distance above on the mountain side..watching the fight
with binoculars..very intently. . o O (He got it in..but c'mon man.. )
>Yes, the scythe is between them. Ryan wasn't expecting an immediate head-bash
in retaliation... he keeps his grip on Harken's collar, but quickly moves his
open hand into the path of Harken's head.... It hits HARD, nearly smashing
Ryan's own knuckles against his scalp, but he thrusts forward with his hand,
attempting to push Harken's head back, if only for the moment.
>Vincent pauses nearly at the same position as Astrid. Perhaps a little ahead of
the demon that has led him here. He stands there in silence, not interfering,
naturally. Just watching, and waiting for an outcome.
>Harken feels the instant when Ryan's strength breaks her momentum, and instead
of resisting heaves as hard as she can on the scythe, attempting to force him
back and away.
>Ryan doesn't let go of Harken's collar, though his balance is faltering now...
as Harken heaves backwards, Ryan likewise draws back with his palm, and lashes
three times in quick successsion at Harken's nose... now, if Harken can't
regain her balance, we may BOTH fall over, however...
>One's balance, it seems, can be very offset by an abruptly broken nose.
Harken's only verbal response is another grunt of pain as she staggers
backwards, brought up short by a treetrunk at her back. At least she's upright.
Gritting her teeth against the pain, she gives the scythe a twist to the right,
still frantically trying to dislodge Ryan the human lamprey. Holding the haft
in both hands as she is, her hope is that she can snap the arm that's still
attached to her.
>Foil . o O ( C'mon Ryan! You got her on the run! Keep on it! )
>Ryan erks, drawing back with his striking palm as Harken twists the shaft
painfully against Ryan's forarm... that's gonna leave a bruise. Unfortunately
for Harken, Ryan is fond of his forearms, and uses the arm her striked with
prior to push against the shaft of the staff... using the mechanics of levers,
Harken'd have to be a LOT stronger to keep the same force applied to his arm.
Not that it matters... he releases her collar, and using his now free other
hand, jabs three times against her face once again.
>Harken, ready for that move the second time, tilts her head to one side, Ryan's
hand passing bare millimeters from one cheek. She slides her hands farther up
the haft of her weapon, and twisting it so that the blade points outward, jerks
it down and to the side in an attempt to slice Ryan neatly in two.

Harken
This woman, perhaps in her mid-twenties, appears bone tired. Otherwise
beautiful features are drawn with exhaustion, green eyes faintly glazed
and devoid of comprehension. Her long hair, burnished auburn, falls
unhindered past her waist, where it is carelessly bound together near
its end. A pair of cresent earrings and a lapis lazuli pendant frame
delicate, but not fragile, features, and her lean frame is clad in what
is obviously cold-weather clothing. Or was. The threadbare, weatherworn
riding leathers have clearly seen better days, although the faded fawn,
green, and rust-colored clothing remains functional. The tattered green
cloak about her shoulders could only have been knit to deter heavy
snows; in its day, the clothing was probably quite fine. A faded blue
bandanna across her forehead helps hold her bangs out of her eyes, and
the cloth bracers on her wrists are strapped on tightly with leather
laces. Fingerless gloves provide cursory protection to her hands.

>Harken, ready for that move the second time, tilts her head to one side,
Ryan'shand passing bare millimeters from one cheek. She slides her hands
farther up the haft of her weapon, and twisting it so that the blade points
outward, jerks it down and to the side in an attempt to slice Ryan neatly in
two.
>Ryan curses as his advantage is lost... he isn't about to be sliced in half
just yet! He still has women left to ogle! Still having his hand on the lower
shaft of Harken's scythe, he attempts to maneuver the blade his OWN way... but
even with Harken's mobility restricted, she can easily flip the blade around.
Uh-oh. Ryan does the one thing he can at this point, dropping low (but not to
his kees) as Harken's scythe blade gives him a bad haircut. Ryan, attempting to
regain the advantage, thrusts for Harken's waist; there has to be something
there to grab on to.
>Foil . o O ( What? How can it still cut with practically no momentum? That
thing must be unnaturally sharp.. well.. least he figgered it out in time.. )
Well, there's her waist itself, although there's a scythe haft in the way. And
there are those skirt-like guards on either side of her waist.
>She cut through a LARGE tree in one swing before, Foil... Ryan ain't taking no
chances
>Harken curses under her breath, and throws herself to one side, attempting to
get out of Ryan's reach.
>Ryan goes for the haft then, attempting to grab near the base of the blade this
time, using his other hand to jab quickly at Harken's lower waist; or, is the
shaft is still in the way, at her inner thigh.
>Foil . o O ( C'mon man..go for the legs..the le..ohwell.. hop that works too...
)
>Harken, while she has even a moment without Ryan attached to her, rests her
weight on her scythe, the base--with Ryan's hand about it--sinking an inch or
two into the ground as she uses it as a pole to vault herself over Ryan's head.
She abandons the scythe, for the moment, as she attempts to land behind him and
fling an arm out as she spins. She's no hand-to-hand combatant, but any armored
body part might cause damage, if it came into contact with flesh.
** Broke off for the day, resumed next day **
>Ryan, oddly, didn't attempt to stop Harken's escape... but he's left holding on
to her weapon. Perhaps this was part of his plan...? He hefts it up in his
hand, and, with a twist of the wrist, sends it twirling hundreds of feet down
the mountainside.
>Foil . o O ( Oh YES )
>Harken smirks. "Nice try, baby. But you're forgetting one thing. You're still
underestimating me." She raises one hand to the sky--and, with a flicker, the
vanished weapon re-appears in her hand. [OOC: I'm not making this up. I swear.
She does it in the game. o.o;]
>Harken doesn't waste time; using surprise to her advantage, she darts forward,
swinging the newly acquired weapon in a side-slash at Ryan.
>Foil . o O ( OH CRAP! )
>Ryan blinks, taking a step back . o O ( Okay. Plan one was a failure. Guess
I'll have to try plan tw- ) Ryan's reflexes are incredible, but they aren't
infallable... Harken's sudden charge, and swing, catches him off-guard. He jabs
out with his hand at the shaft of the scythe, but not only can't he get a grip,
he doesn't even stop it until the point is an inch into his side!
>Foil . o O ( How can she still swing that thing with the wedge in her arm?? He
must not have used strong enough materials...nuts... C'mon man..keep goin... )
>You whisper, "Ryan has changed his style now... a more traditional version of
ninjutusu" to Harken.
>Harken, rather than pressing her attack, backs off immediately; she's wary now
of Ryan getting another grip on her. That earlier exchange was far too costly,
in her opinion. She launches herself into the air, dropping ten or fifteen
feet back.
>Harken whispers, "Gotcha. That's gonna make things more difficult for her." to
you.
>Ryan curses, quite audibly, as he puts hius right foor foward, both feet on the
ground... wait... that's a different combat style...? Not taking time to tend
to his wound, he charges forward and to the side of Harken, circling around
her, just out of scythe range...
>Foil . o O ( C'mon... get back inside..get back inside.... )
>Ryan . o O ( ... Have to find the right opportunity... )
>Harken . o O ( ....Damn! So much for familiarity... )
>Kismet has arrived.
>Ryan . o O ( ... I may have to use my special techniques... but I don't want to
give it away so early )
>l kis
Kismet
You see a young man, with dirty-blond hair to his shoulders and soulful
grey eyes. He stands about 5 foot 10, though he's slouching slightly,
and is dressed in a Grateful Dead t-shirt, jeans that have seen better
days, and tennis shoes for which the same holds true. Covering this
natty ensemble is a tan greatcoat, hanging open, and a dark blue
muffler tossed carelessly over his shoulders.
Carrying:
Midgaard City Map
>Ryan circles around Harken... it's safe to assume that Harken will keep trying
to face him?
>Harken turns in place, trying to keep her eye on Ryan. She raises her weapon
before her, on guard.
>Astrid standing farther down the mountain, reaches out an arm to Kismet. He
says quietly, "Do not interfere."
>Harken . o O ( Perhaps it's time for the Fast Draw... )
>Kismet looks up from frowning at his map, and his eyes widen as he backpedals.
"Na worries!" he assures quickly, looking for a place to hide.
>Ryan keeps circling around Harken, every so often changing his direction to
keep from getting too predictable... He breathes in and out slowly, to keep his
focus away from the torso wound, and he draws his hands back... after a minute
or so of this, he leaps a short distance into the air, turning to face
Harken.... and, with a loud 'KIAI', throws his arms forward, almost faster then
the human eye can see! There's the *crack* of a sonic boom as a rippling
pressure wave flies towards Harken!
>You whisper, "Ryan will immeidately charge for you as soon as he sees the
results, hoping to bank in on the sudden surprise (I hate this keyboard)" to
Harken.
>Kismet O.O
>Ryan doesn't think Astrid would let Kismet get close enough for a good look...
>Kismet still has his ears, though.
>Harken plants herself as best she can against the pressure wave, her feet
leaving twin gouges in the ground as it blows her back several feet for all her
weight thrown against it.
>Astrid nods gravely to Kismet. (Since he's a good ways away himself, Ryan,
that's a fair bet.)
>Ryan doesn't waste a millisecond of time... as he stayed barely a foot or two
outside of the reach of Harken's scythe, he immediately uses Harken's defensive
posture against her, charging low towards her, and hopefully to get within the
range of her scythe before she can recover... all within the span of a second
or less.
>Kismet points back the way he came. "No worries. I'll, uh, just go back the way
I came, shall I, mate?" And backs away even as he says it. "Just a bit lost,
y'see."
>Harken has time to curse under her breath and turn her scythe parallel to the
ground, unable to get out of Ryan's range. She twists to one side, in the hope
that he will miscalculate and trip over one end or the other.
>Astrid does not respond; only turns concerned eyes back to the battle.
>Kismet has left.
>Ryan, being Ryan, doesn't make those sorts of mistakes... at least, not this
time. He grasps on to the shaft of Harken's scythe, using the momentum he's
gather from the run to swing on it, much as one could swing against a fire
pole, to bring both his feet into intimate contact with Harken's jaw.
Foil watches this intently now..just sending his prayers out to Ryan..hoping
for the best..
>Susano has arrived.
>Astrid stands a ways downhill from the battle up above; he turns to Susano as
the man approaches, and says gravely, "You should remain here, with me." He
seems to have accepted his position as guard seriously.
>Susano trods up the hill, until he gets a good view of the fight. Then he's
spoken to. He never intended to go any further. He can't afford a buzz, he's
getting his entertainment elsewhere. He sits down next to Astrid, his hands on
his knees. "Whatever, dude."
>Harken grunts as Ryan's weight hangs for a moment off her scythe, and as
before, leans back and heaves upward on the end he's grasped, attempting to
fling him toward a nearby tree. As a result of the sudden shift, his aim is
thrown a bit off; nevertheless, one of his feet makes contact with Harken's
jaw. We're gonna find out pretty quick whether or not metal demons
bruise--because if they do, -that's- gonna leave a mark. The contact feels
rather like kicking a metal wall, however.
>Ryan erks as his kick connects... guess that 'Metal Demon' thing is all too
literal. Regardless, having no feet on the ground, he has little counter to
harken's sudden shift... instead he uses this to his advantage as well, pushing
off the scythe in an attempt to get to harken's backside (using the other foot
to help him pull, using the back of Harken's neck as an anchor.)
>Susano narrows his eyes, mumbling out, "Ouch. Not the face, that's a waste."
He reaches into his trenchcoat pocket, fishing out a half-empty box of tictacs,
rattling a few out, munching on them.
>Ryan (OOC) hears the sound of tictacs. "Hold on just a sec, hark."
>Harken (OOC) nods, and LOL.
>Harken can't prevent Ryan from using her as a lever. All she can do is continue
to make it as difficult as possible for Ryan to hang onto her scythe. She gives
it another twist, bringing the shaft downward quickly and, with a shift of her
hands, full-circle, even as she twists her body in an attempt to face Ryan.
>Ryan didn't release the scythe in time to avoid the effects of Harken's
counter... his landing behind Harken was nowhere smooth as he would have liked,
giving him barely enough time to reach into his pocket, and jab at Harken's
knee joint...
>Susano holds up the box to Astrid, "Hey, have a few." He taps out a few more,
calling out, "Low blow! Low blow!"
>You whisper, "Ryan is trying to restrict your leg, as well n.n" to Harken.
>Harken's eyes narrow as she feels the second piece of metal rammed into another
joint in her armor. o O ( It is time to end this. ) Rather than try and avoid
the unavoidable, she uses Ryan's concentration on her leg as an opening, and
raises her scythe high. When it comes down, it is not a normal swing--the
curved blade flares momentarily as she brings the weapon down time and time
again, the movement almost too fast to follow. However, her Magnum Fang is
hampered by two things: The fact that she is half-twuisted as she begins the
motion, and the first bit of metal, still somewhat restricting the motion of
her right arm. Not as perfect a technique as she would have liked, but still
potentially deadly.
>Astrid blinks at Susano curiously, but accepts the tic tacs, examining them
minutely. "What...?"
>Foil . o O ( LOOK OUT! )
>Susano speaks, "It's breath candy, minty fresh. Good, try-- ooh!" he snaps
his head in the direction of the fight. "-Ouch.-"
>Ryan is so screwed it isn't even funny... the blade comes down, again and
again, striking solidly each time, leaving gaping bloody wounds in his tors...
wait... it's barely nicking his torso!? What the - ...? He's blocking the shaft
with his left hand, each blow POUNDING on his palm... but Ryan apparently feels
that's better then being disemboweled... perhaps he's right, but that *CRACK*
at the end of Harken's attack... the sound of his left wrist snapping like a
twig, shows that Ryan didn't escape...
>Foil . o O ( CRAP! Keep MOVING! )
>Astrid closes his hand around the forgotten tic tacs, watching grimly.
>Susano reaches up, poking Astrid. "What sort of fight is this, eh? To the
death or something?"
>Ryan IMMEDIATELY tries to counter-attack... with one of his 'weapons' down, he
jabs upward, towards Harken's head, with his own! A headbutt? That'd be like
slamming your face into a steel wall... too bad for Ryan.
>You whisper, "Lets see if the rumors of Ryan having a thick skull are true,
ne?" to Harken.
>Harken backs off once again, though not smoothly--the full danger of what Ryan
sacrificed his wrist for becomes quickly apparent. But--wait, Ryan isn't giving
her the time to back off. His head connects squarely with Harken's jaw, [as
the phone rings... dammit, if you're going to call my house in the middle of a
fight, don't hang up when I answer it!] giving her all the more reason to back
out of immediate range. We're about to find out how hard Ryan's head really is.
>Harken, fortunately, isn't Vega. Her face is going to come out of this fight a
REAL mess.
>Astrid says quietly, "You assume that Lady Harken shares counsel with me. She
does not. I am not privy to her plans."
>Quite hard, apparently... he isn't even dazed, though his forehead is starting
to bruise already. He's not about to let Harken get away that easily... As
Harken backs up, Ryan moves forward, giving the advantage - it's MUCH easier to
move forward. Now he keeps striking for Harken's jaw with his right palm,
nearly three times a second...
>Foil . o O ( Oh my God..he's still going?? GO MAN GO! )
>Susano lowers his face into his hands, shaking it. Then he looks up, muttering
again. "Dude, -not- the face." he's about to call that out, instead looking
to Astrid. "Oh, yah, sorta dom thing, I guess. She's your boss?" Finally,
catching the barrage of slaps, he gets to call out, "Not the face! Not the
face, goddamit!" Then he mutters, "...dumbasses."
>Harken (OOC) ROTFL at Susano. You know how hard it is to roleplay an ironclad
BITCH with this commentary from you and Foil, dude?
>Foil OOC V ^_^ This is better than a Niner's game
>Ryan (OOC) would have preferred an endurance match. In bed. But he didn't want
to ask harken o_=
>Susano (OOC) grins.
>Foil OOC That would chafe dude.
>Ryan (OOC) pulls out a can of WD-40 ^_^
>Foil OOC we won't go there ^_^ IC damnit!
>Ryan (OOC) WILL go there. Anything to distract harken ^_^
>Harken can only grunt and continue her retreat as Ryan slowly mangles her face.
Even METAL dents under pressure like that. However, she turns one cheek to the
blow, watching out of her other eye... watching.... THERE! She turns suddenly
to one side and throws her weight into Ryan, attempting to crush him against a
treetrunk.
>Harken says, "(OOC) Hey! No fair, Ryan... wait, what was that about endurance?
Hmm, you're kind of cute...."
>Harken says, "(OOC) ...but *I* won't be, if you keep ignoring Susano's advice.
o.O;;"
>Astrid nods after a long moment. "She is. Among others."
>Ryan erk's at the sudden change of tactics... hmm... treetunk smash BAD thing.
Ryan immediately drops low, ducking between Harken's legs (!?). That crazy
idiot... with luck, Harken's momentum will carry her past before she can notice
and recover.
>Susano taps out a few more tictacs, popping them into his mouth. "Among
others? Like... whoa." Again he turns to the fight and winces, shaking his
head. "We need a ref here, or something."
>Momentum is, indeed, a factor. However, smacking into a treetrunk doesn't seem
to hurt her much. She rolls to one side and turns quickly, lashing out blindly
behind her. If Ryan is following his usual tactics, he'll be trying to get as
close in as possible.
>Ryan is following his usual tactics... however, he hasn't shown ALL his usual
tactics yet. Still low to the ground, he kicks towards Harken's jaw again, with
his right leg... this kick is comparatively light compared to his prior
attacks; indeed, it's apparently only a set up for the flurry of rapid jabs
that follow from his right hand towards Harken's abdomen.
>Ryan, most annoyingly of all, still has that smirk on his face from when the
fight began.... it's more forced now, but it's still infuritating...
>Foil checks his wristwatch . o O (Ok.. C'mon Ryan..hurry up and heap damage
on... Your gunna wear yourself out at this rate.. and who knows if she CAN wear
out.. )
>Ryan . o O ( !@^(!_ much ^!_*#@! hits does it take to get her to STOP!? )
>Harken gets her jaw out of the way of Ryan's kick just in time for his barrage
of hits to her torso. Her armored torso. She limps awkwardly backward a bit in
an attempt to get Ryan within scythe-range without much apparent damage from
the assault, preparing to lash out at him again--but a thin stream of silver
leaks down her right arm, from beneath her shoulder plate. Funny--Ryan never
hit her there, did he?
>Foil . o O ( What? Where did that come from..she's more hurt than she looks..
PRESS THE ATTACK RYAN! )
>Susano empties the rest of his candy into his hand, tossing the plastic
container behind him. Stuffing and chewing the minty freshness down, he
mutters to himself over the fight. Then, even though he hasn't gotten a good
answer all night, he asks Astrid, "If you like, don't know when the fight
ends... you're just going to stand guard there until she tells you to stop?"
>Astrid considers Susano's words. "I'm not acting under orders," he says calmly.
>Ryan isn't about to let Harken slice him up... at least, not again. Harken's
balance is lost, and Ryan is too close to her for her to use the scythe against
him. He sticks to her like glue... using his left forearm to divert Harken's
already restricted weapon arm, and using his right palm to continue to slam the
same spot on Harken's torso... all the while, never staying more then a few
inches from her...
>Susano shrugs, sitting up, then kneeling on the hill. "Okay. Then why don't
you lighten up, just sit back and enjoy the fight? Instead of standing there
like security at a rock concert and stuff." Then it occurs, the dude may not
understand. "Instead of standing there, all guard-like."
>Harken's armor begins to give beneath Ryan's repeated assaults; with no other
recourse left, Harken resorts to a hand-to-hand attack, making a fist with her
unrestricted left hand and pummelling several times downward, toward Ryan's
head. Her attack isn't as practiced or as quick as Ryan's, but her metal fist
is weapon enough against a human skull. Or so she hopes.
>Astrid answers gravely, "Because I'm not enjoying this."
>Susano continues, curious, annoying or what-not as hell. "Then why stick
around?"
>Harken's tactic isn't as successful as she may have hoped... Ryan diverts his
right hand to block Harken's attacks. This, however, gives Harken a chance to
recover her balance... or perhaps not, as Ryan resumes his attack, using his
knee now, in place of his palm. The blows are less frequent, but not less
damaging.
>Astrid hesitates, pondering that carefully. "This... ... should be witnessed.
Witnessed by someone other than the demon hunter, who lies about everything,
including his own name."
>Foil . o O ( C'mon! Hurry! She's gotta be feeling it now! Give it all you
got! )
>You whisper, "Ryan is starting to slow down now... to compensate, he switches a
style common among green berets, and similar elite troops, sacrificing a little
speed for power" to Harken.
>Susano blinks, peering out into the battleground. "What demon hunter?" He
slowly scans out the area, or seems to, also seeming not to notice the
binocular-wielding Foil. "If it's just for that, I can stick around, I don't
have a reason to lie and I don't have anything else to do."
>Harken, with one of Ryan's arms occupied with her left arm and the other
clinging to her right, throws her weight forward, hoping to tip the currently
one-legged attacker backwards. As her breastplate cracks, low across the torso,
she makes a grab for Ryan's hair, attempting to keep him in place. He wants to
stay close? Fine. She'll try and KEEP him close, while she heaves forward and
attempts to crush him beneath the weight of her armor.
>Harken is grinning, too, despite the streaked silver across her face and body.
She and Ryan must look INSANE to their audience. What on earth are they so
happy about?
>Foil . o O ( Don't let her grab... GAH! GET out of there!! )
>Astrid points in Foil's direction--how did he know the man was there? He nods
to Susano. "I thank you, but... ... I will remain. I.. ... I wish to, although
I disapprove of this battle."
>Ryan didn't see that one coming... he attempts to duck low and - ERK - Uh oh,
harken got a grip on his hair - ! This is going to be ugly as Harken falls on
top of our intrepid hero, crushing him like an overripe tomat- ... wait... as
Harken falls forward, Ryan kicks off, to the side; he's still pulled down,
because of Harken's grip on his hair, but he manages to avoid being immediately
crushed. The very INSTANT he hits the ground, he resumes striking the weakend
spot in the armor with hand, knee, head, WHATEVER is nearest.
>Susano peers in the direction pointed, shrugging it off. It doesn't matter.
"Whatever, suit yourself. Anyway, sit down, make you wait easier."
>Astrid regards Susano gravely for a moment before nodding, deciding something
to himself, as he sits cross-legged next to the other man.
>Foil . o O ( Get off the ground! C'mon Ryan..if she keeps you there your
finished... MOVE! )
>Ryan is well aware of that, Foil. he doesn't have much choice in the matter at
the moment.
>( Ryan can hit the side of the plate if he wants; as Harken's on her stomach,
the crack is protected. For now. Her grip on Ryan's hair still secure, Harken
pulls viciously on it, intending to drag Ryan off-balance while she climbs to
her knees so that she can make a low swipe with her scythe. Ineffectual for
most attack at close distances, it's still pretty good as a means to keep
people off their feet. In the process of getting to her knees, however, she
makes her torso vulnerable again. )
>Astrid remarks to Susano, "If you are the god of Destruction--are you not in
charge of this activity?"
>You whisper, "Do you have the hair on the top of his head, or his ponytail?" to
Harken.
>Harken whispers, "Somewhere in between--along the back of his scalp, since he
was protecting the top if his head when she made a grab." to you.
>Susano has his attention on the fight as he speaks, trying to make out what's
happening. It's tough, they're both in odd positions. "Yah, well... I'm on a
break right now. Why?"
>Ryan is about to point out a flaw in her tactic... by standing up herself, she
allows Ryan a chance to regain some of his mobility, even as his head is tugged
around violently; that has to hurt! Ryan, using this short opprtunity before
he's nicely sliced to ribbons by that pointy scythe, jabs his right hand behind
Harken's head, using his strength, or what remains of it, to jab it towrds
his...
>Astrid closes his eyes. "Why is this necessary? Why must humankind and
demonkind hate each other? Is it truly unavoidable?" He opens green eyes which
look to Susano for answers.
>You whisper, "Lemme know if this is successful or not, and we'll finish this
up..." to Harken.
>Harken whispers, "She's not standing, actually--she's kneeling. Beats being
flat on her face. As we're both quite a bit off-balance, seems fair to assume
he can get a hand behind her head and pull it forward. Go for it. Three hours
is long enough for -any- fight. ^_^" to you.
>You whisper, "Hmm, pose something to that effect, minus the three-hour part
n.n;" to Harken.
>Harken, leaking silvery blood from several places and still off-balance, is
pulled forward, her head snapping toward Ryan even as she pulls the scythe
about beneath him.
>Harken whispers, "Good enough? Scythe's still trying to knock you off your
feet, though. Up to you whether or not the shaft or the blade hits." to you.
>Susano looks back, scratching the back of his head. "It's not necessary, no.
But both humans and demons tend to be unbalanced beings - in terms of yin and
yang. Such as those two." He looks towards the fight. "Once balanced, they
would rid themselves of the bad karma, which is what makes them be so
aggressive, so hostile. And both levels are so close to each other, it's only
to be expected that they fight. Many demons even think as humans, and vice
versa. And there is nothing anyone can do about it, but teach them. Balancing
oneself is a personal endeavour. You must want it... and very few, of either
level do." He finishes the rather length, almost nonsensical explanation,
looking to the fight, hoping he hasn't lost anything.
>Ryan draws Harken in for a headbutt, still smirking, only seconds before he is
brutally torn into by her scyth-... what the HELL? Ryan gives the !@^!(@! demon
a kiss on the lips!? What the HELL was the point of that!? Oh, wait... it's
obvious now, as he has bought himself enough time to jab his hardened fingers
(hopefully) through the weakened gap in her side...
>You whisper, "Ryan wanted to end this the Ryan way n.n oV" to Harken.
>Foil . o O ( .... )
>Ryan has a unique fighting style, oh yes
>Foil . o O ( What the hell is this guy? Fabio-Jitsu? Awhell..might work... )
>Hmm. A good explanation, actually.
Harken whispers, "Harken ROTFLMAO." to you.
>Harken (OOC) excuses herself momentarily while she dies laughing. Oh. My. God.
>Foil OOC hehe ^_^
>Ryan (OOC) ALWAYS leaves an impression on the ladies. n.- Even the
genocidal demon ones
>Foil OOC C'mon c'mon..I MUST See Harken's reaction to this ^_^
>Harken could, possibly, have been more surprised. Say, if Ryan had abruptly
turned into Barney--that might have surprised her more. Maybe. Her eyes go
WIDE, in response to the kiss, Ryan's fingers jabbing through the crack in her
armor to the (marginally) more vulnerable flesh beneath, or both. Abruptly,
however, her eyes narrow again, and she attempts to BITE Ryan. Her smile, on
the other hand, has disappeared. Congratulations. You pissed her off.
>Astrid forgets his reply to Susano as he stares at Ryan and Harken, jaw open.
Whoah.
>Foil . o O ( Well..I guess if he actually had Charm it might've worked...
Least it half worked. )
>Ryan ducks back, Harken's grasp on his hair still restricting his mobility...
being bitten is a BAD thing, so Ryan tries to make his knee the close buddy to
Harken's chin. Well, I guess we can blame this on massive cranial trauma later.
>Susano tilts his head to the side, practically forgetting his explanation too.
"This is twisted."
>Exceedingly.
>Astrid, still staring, mumbles, "...Yeah."
>Foil . o O ( @#$%..and me without my camera.. Damn Kodak moments.. Well..least
she's pissed off now... hopefully she'll be so cross she'll make a mistake... )
>Harken whispers, "Quick question--what happened to the scythe? I didn't catch
whether or not it got you." to you.
>You whisper, "Oh yeah, forgot about that... on the other hand, I think HARKEN
might have forgotten about it, too. Feel free to do nasty things with it to me,
though." to Harken.
>Harken's head snaps back, the demon letting it roll with the movement to avoid
having her neck broken. At the same time, infuriated, she uses her grip on
Ryan's hair to attempt to yank him to one side, throwing him away from her. If
she succeeds, that scythe is likely to rip a nice gash across his back as she
was still tugging it around beneath Ryan.
>Susano hehs, shrugging again. "Well, as long as he doesn't pull a stunt like
that again. This is a fight."
>Astrid slowly digests Susano's earlier words. "Then you're saying... it -is-
possible to end this?" He gestures vaguely to the battle.
>Susano nods once. "Oh, sure. Hell, sooner or later everyone transcends, even
demons. It's not easy, of course."
>Ryan is in trouble. Actually, for once. Harken IS stronger than him... and she
has the advantage in mobility. Ryan is rudely tossed aside, some of his hair
left in Harken's grip... unfortunately for Harken, her strike isn't perfect;
Ryan has some experience moving in the air. It still makes a nice gash across
his back, no doubt about it, but you doubt anything VITAL was injured. More
importantly, however, you've got him out of close combat range...
>Harken, free of Ryan at last, doubles over, breathing hard. It's clear Ryan's
strike beneath her armor got through. The silvery blood that spills from the
wound is more than should by rights be there, as a result of his attack--what
the hell? Harken snarls hoarsely, "...Enough...."
>Foil . o O ( Aw crap.. not the mistake I was looking for... ..wait..what did
she just say?? )
>Ryan staggers back to his feet... he's lost a lot of blood, and can't continue
much longer, especially now that he's lost his advantage. He tenses, ready to
sring forward, until Harken speaks. "...?"
>Gokou has arrived.
>Susano starts getting up, what with Harken's comment. "Ah, hell. Not like I
had money on the damned thing." He brushes off his slacks and waits to see
what people do next.
>Harken pulls herself to her feet with effort, flatly refusing to lean on her
scythe. She raises her chin proudly, despite her mangled face, and studies Ryan
for a long moment before repeating, "...It is enough. Looks like I
underestimated you, baby. You're not half-bad." Her eyes narrow, flashing with
anger. "But you make the same mistake as Al'Hazad--I am a warrior before I am a
woman, always. Try that stunt again, and I won't stay my hand."
>Astrid blinks at Susano a moment, and then asks, "....Did you want her to win?"
>Foil flings his binoculars in his bag, yanking it with him and IMMEDIATELY
begins tearing down the hillside towards the battle area.
>Ryan wipes a trickle of blood from his cheek, smirk still on his face. "... I
might argue with that, but..." He coughs. "As per the deal, Cloud...?"
>Susano now really spots Foil. He does nothing though, nodding to Astrid.
"Sure. Liked her style more than the guy's."
>Astrid notices Foil's approach, as well, and climbs to his feet, watching the
demon hunter warily. He asks without looking at Susano, "Is that all it is to
you? Style?"
>Susano starts walking down the hillside, answering before he's too far away.
"Naw, not really. I just don't really know either of them."
>Harken nods stiffly. "I'll bring you... Strife, Twinblade. ...His life is...
well won."
>Harken says, "(OOC) ...As soon as he logs on. ^^;"
>Astrid watches Susano leave thoughtfully. o O ( The yin and the yang.. ... and
if we united? Then what? )
>Ryan breathes slowly. "... Glad to hear it. Certainly most fun I've had in
years." . o O ( Damn this hurts... )
>Foil skids to a halt the moment he hears that..pausing halfway to the scene . o
O (FWEW..for a sec..I thought she was backing out on the deal...)
>Son Gokou walks down from far up the mountain, at a very slow pace.. he seems
to be looking in the air.. with both of his arms behind his head. ... his
overall expression is a happy one, until he arrives at this point in the pass.
He blinks confusedly, and scratches the back of his head with his index finger;
stopping dead at that spot, "Hey hey hey.. what is all the commosion on Paozu
for?" o.o
>Harken, after a moment, begins to laugh breathlessly. "....Indeed. I
look...forward to the rematch."
>Ryan just smiles at Harken, crossing his arms, being very ginger with his
left...
>Astrid answers Gokou gravely. "A ransom match."
>Foil then hefts his bag over his shoulder and then walks the rest of the way .
o O (Well... He showed that Metal smart @$$ whats up... Heh.. teach her to
underestimate a human.)
>You whisper, "Both me and harken are beat to hades... Ryan's bleeding in
several places, and Harken doesn't look too good either" to Gokou.
>Harken raises her scythe in a finishing formal salute to Ryan.
>Harken springs into the air, folding silently away into nothingness within
moments.
>Harken has left.
>Ryan immediately falls unconscious, the second harken exits... *whud*
>Son Gokou blinks slightly at that reply, taking only a few moments to simply
reply, "Huh?" .. he takes a good look at everyone as he waits for another reply.
>Astrid . o O ( !!! )
>Astrid turns away from Gokou to run up the mountain toward the spot where Ryan
fell.
>Foil walks through the last bit of trees as Harken leaves..looking down,
"Figgered. Heh..good job dude.." as he kneels down next to Ryan and flips him
over..being very careful.
>Susano stops halfway there, close enough to hear conversation. Then he turns
back around, to leave. No more action, no reason for Susano to stick around.
>Son Gokou (OOC) beats a couple of the 'replies' out of that pose. x.x;
>Ryan is quite out of it. He doesn't look like he's gonna die, but some morphine
would be a big help...
>Foil waves Gokou, deciding not to worry some poor guy just walking down the
mountain, "Don't worry about it... just a little scuffle..no problem friend."
>Foil glances up to Astrid as he runs up, "You stay the hell away you piece of
@#$%" as he pulls out a nice good medical kit from his bag.
>Astrid says quietly, "As usual, *Foil*, the truth seems distasteful to you."
He, too, kneels by Ryan, on the opposite side as the demon hunter. He studies
the fallen human critically.
>Ryan has little SD-swirly eyes. Yup, unconscious @_@
>Son Gokou leans back on his arms, hrming, as he surveys the area, "Why does
everyone like Mount. Paozu so much..?", he ers, and looks down to Foil, "Anou..
what kind of fight was on this mountain?", he says, more seriously, even though
his demeanor is a bit childish for how old he looks.
>Susano heads down the hill and away, the fight's over, nothing left of interest.
>Susano has left.
>Foil has more than a few things to deal with..warding off Astrid, relaying info
to Gokou and helping Ryan..decides which is the most important as he tilts Ryan
in a comfortable position, telling Gokou, "Tell you in a sec pal.." as he then
glances darkly to Astrid, "Go Away. You want me to spell it out?"
>Ryan . o O ( Stars... pretty stars... @_@ )
>Foil . o O ( I should kill him..but I can't just leave Ryan here... )
>Astrid tells Foil calmly, "I've seen how much you honor your own beliefs. Your
threats no longer have any power over me, demon hunter. I mean the man no harm;
now, are you going to use that on him, or let him die while you curse at me?"
He nods toward the medical kit.
>Ryan lies there like a lump . o O ( ... Yes Gina... I'd LOVE too meet you in
your hot tub... )
>Foil answers Astrid, "His wounds are relatively minor. Compared to what that
B@#$% Queen of yours wanted to do to him." as he indeed opens the
medikit...taking out disinfectant and a small local.
>Ryan might need a splint for the wrist, too, but that's easy to arrange.
>Son Gokou he hrms slightly, looking at Ryan as well, before he asks, "And who
beat up this man? .. he does not look so well.", he says rather simply, yet in
all seriousness.
>Astrid scowls at Foil. "Lady Harken fights with honor and dignity, and more
pride than -you- can command. You needn't insult her."
>Foil comments to Astrid, "He just saved his companion from your races grasp...
your dishonoring him by hovering over him like a vulture." he calmly states.
Looks to Gokou, "Lemmie fix him up first." as he works on getting dirt and
grime out of the various slash wounds.
>Astrid demands in a near-whisper, "Why do you hate us so?" He reaches to help
Foil with the mending, stubbornly refusing to leave.
>Foil answers, "It's my job to. Someone has to stand up to you inhuman
monsters." as he very carefully bandages around Ryan's chest..propping him up a
bit as he does so, "I was born and raised to kill your kind."
>Son Gokou he ers, and waves a hand between Astrid and Foil, "Anou.. please do
not argue on Paozu Yama.. I don't want to have to kick any of you off..", he
hehs, "I havent had to do that to anyone yet.", he hrms a moment, in thought,
"But this place never used to get people from the city-land so much..".. he
shrugs, still with that dumb grin on his face.
>Oh, yeah, a few trees around here are kinda busted. Beaten, cut in half, that
sort of thing. Nothing major, really.
>Astrid recoils slightly, hurt shining briefly in his eyes before he turns his
head to glance in the direction Susano disappeared. o O ( ...but why? )
>Foil glances to Gokou, "Don't worry pal.. Just talkin." as he sinches the
bandages closed..now goes to work on any laccerations he might have gotten on
his knuckles or knees or forehead from all the bashing he did.
>Ryan has lots of those. Beating up on armor with your barehands hurts.
>Foil glances to Astrid, "You really DON'T know why..do you?" he questions.
Swabbing the blood up.
>Astrid stands, putting his hands in his pockets. He says gravely, "Inhuman, we
may be. We are only as monstrous as you make us."
>Welcome to the Sanosuke school of knuckle-wrapping, Ryan.
>Ryan (OOC) LAUGHS! I'm playing his MP3 theme in the background! ^^;
>Astrid (OOC) grins. Psychic powers, ya know. >:)
>Foil answers you, "You don't understand. You don't know what history has
taught mankind about your race." calmly as he then binds Ryan's relatively good
hand up..also a bandage or two about his forehead.
>Son Gokou seems to just realize this fact, slowly as it was, he then asks,
somewhat angered, but slightly concerned, "Who the hell messed up the foilage
on this mountain? .. I am not very pleased with this.. Those trees will not
grow back very easily, you know."
>Foil answers Gokou, "Look man..we'll get moving the second I'm done dressing
his wounds..ok?"
>Astrid turns away from Foil and walks quietly down the mountain. He pauses to
answer Foil, "No. But I know what history has taught my race about mankind. I
suspect it is similar. I chose to disregard history in favor of my own
experiences. As history seems an endless, pointless battle with no real gain
for anyone, I hoped experience would contradict history." He hesitates, and
adds reluctantly, "...It seems I am being proven wrong." With that, he
continues his walk downhill.
>Son Gokou he nods, still grinning oddly, "Tell me who messed up the trees..
first."
>Foil watches Astrid go . o O (smug S.O.B. I won't dishonor my father's memory.
I am gunna kill that one.) then back down to Ryan as he then attends to that
shattered hand . o O (This is gunna take some doing)
>Foil assides to Gokou, "Ask some chick named Harken..she did it." he states
flatly.
>Son Gokou makes his way over to the broken trees.. picking up the trunks in
almost a bundle.. and placing the large bundle on the path, he looks up from
his work, before he answers, while brushing off his hands, "Then you will find
this chicken and make her replant all these trees, ne, kiddo?"
>Foil feels about the forearm for any fractures..setting them if he feels them.
He nods to Gokou with a smile, "Sounds like a deal to me dude." relishing the
mental image of him forcing Harken to plant trees ^_^
>Son Gokou nods at that, his happy-go-lucky demeanor returning to his face, he
places both of his arms behind his head again, looking rather dopey in
exterior.. until something hits him..so he looks up asking simply, and rather
childishly, "And who are you, kiddo?"
>Foil smiles, "Foil Riposte. And you?" rather relieved that he finds someone he
doesn't need to yell at for any various reasons. As he now begins to splint up
that wrist using materials from his kit..mummifying that hand practically..
shooting a local into that area as well..
>Ryan just sits there. Fighting a metal demon for 4 straight hours kinda takes a
lot out of you.
>Foil OOC Actually..if you put that in real time. It probably only took a
halfhour ^_^ tops. More like 20 mins n.n A punch doesn't take 10 mins even
if it takes that time to pose ^_-
>Ryan (OOC) snickers. Picky picky ;P
>Son Gokou nods at that, "Ah.. I see.", still grinning, he replies, "My name is
Gokou, Son Gokou. I've live on this mountain..", he counts on his fingers a
moment, giving up like a kid, "For a very long time.." The man seems
overly-happy to introduce himself. That fact being true; he loves making
friends.
>Foil finally binds up the last of his apparent wounds..then repackages the
medical kit, "Well pal... drugged you up on enough painkillers..lessie if you
can get mobile.." as he pulls out a vial of smelling salts and wafts it beneath
Ryan's nose.. looks back up to Gokou..chuckles . o O (Guy must be a bit
challenged upstairs..ahwell.) "I see..bet it gets cold up here."
>Ryan wrinkles his nose, opening his eyes groggily. "...?"
>Foil chuckles down at Ryan, "Wake up hero. You won." he smiles. Then giving
the man room to move if he can.
>Ryan blinks. "... I did? Oh yeah." He blinks again. "... Where's Cloud?"
>Foil frowns a bit at that, "She hasn't given him over yet... lets hope she
isn't plotting someting... but she seems pretty honorable..I think she'll
return him soon.." he answers..stuffing the kit back in his bag.
>Son Gokou trots on down to Foil and shakes his head, still in his
head-on-forarm comfortable position, saying, "Nah, it's pretty nice up here
uusually." He then fiddles with the belt on his gi. Seems this guy isn't very
still for very long.
>Ryan says, rather unconvincingly, "She... wasn't THAT tough."
>Son Gokou blinks at now conscious man, asking rather upfront, "And who is this
person? o.o"
>Ryan holds out his right hand. "Bill Clinton. Pleased to meetcha." @_o
>Foil nods to Gokou with a smile, looks to Ryan, "Well.. it's a damn good thing
she wasn't faster than she was. She was stronger than I anticipated...
eitherway..you did a damn good job dude. Flippin amazin actually.." as he
comments to Gokou, "Ryan." he answers..then looks back, "..I've never seen
another normal human stand up to a Shen like that before.."
>Foil says, "Other than a Shih of course.." he ammends.
>Ryan isn't exactly a 'normal' human, but details aren't necessary. He looks at
Foil. "Pleased to meetcha, Ryan." @_o
>Son Gokou shakes the hand, with a rather tight grip.. tighter than Gokou
realises, "Nice to meet you.. Clinton, I am Gokou, Son Gokou..", he blinks,
already confused, "Is your name Foil or Ryan?"
>Foil errrs, "He's just a wee bit goofy at the moment.. C'mon dude..lets get
you back to town." as he hefts Ryan up, slinging one of Ryan's arm over his
shoulders as he stands him up..holding his bag with his other hand..then begins
walking down the mountainside towards the trail, errs at Gokou, "I'm Foil,
He's Ryan. And we'll be leaving your mountain now.. nice meeting you Gokou.."
>Ryan stands up, still rather dazed, but at least mobile.
>You fall in line behind Foil_Riposte.
>Son Gokou nods at that, tips his fingers to the two, "It was nice to meet you
too,", he smiles, rather childishly, "Come back sometime.. I live up the
mountain a ways.. if I'm not home, ask my wife for some food, she's a very
good cook." ^_^
>Ryan's stomach grumbles. Mmm... food...
>Foil smiles and nods to Gokou.. . o O (Actually..I just might sometime
later..eitherway..) and then helps ryan back down the mountain.
>Foil_Riposte leaves, with you following after.

A deep
gorge carved by forces long forgotten and lost to legend is to the west
here..and a suspension bridge has been erected so that pedestrians might take a
stroll across it to Sif Way to the east, and marvel at it.

awake?" he questions, but figuring he's probably still delirious.
>Ryan blinks. "Yeah!" Pause. "Nifty colors..."
>Foil ahems, "Where do you live?" he questions.. . o O (Maybe I don't need to go
get help..)
>Ryan replies in an honest, even tone, "Atlantis." @_o

a bit..then pokes his head into the bar next to it.

>Lyrae, Kim and Rachel on the other hand are safe inside. And most displeased
with Joel.
>Foil glances over his shoulder . o O (Great. Better find help quick..) as he
darts his eyes around for plausible friends of Ryan..
>Ryan sits on the curb outside, barely conscious @_o
>Kim says, "Why didn't you just offer to work off the food? =.="
>Packbell leaps right into the air, right over the blast, at an incredible
height of 20 yards into the air, both feet planted towards the door as he drill
kicks with the cannon in his hand the door, the weapons completely tearing away
all his flesh and riddling his skeleton with debris.
>Lev flicks the canon to the sise, withdrawing his hand from this trenchcoat to
be cloaked in a crimson glove. As Packbell storms in his direction he dashes at
the door with the maniacal android trailing right behind him. He leaps into the
air, kicks off the doorframe. He does a flip as he sails through the air, and
*SLASHES* wickedly down with a jet of plasma coming from the device, like a
blade.
>Joel asks, "Look...if I can get Arthur to bring those two back to life, will
you forgive me?"
>Packbell asks, "(OOC) Ooh...conflicting poses. Who should be the one to retcon?"
>Lyrae looks at Kim, "Can you handle this guy?" She moves towards the window, to
see what's going on out there.

>Joel asks, "I'm sorry. I really am. Just don't mean to get in so much *the boy
looks out the window* HOLY SMEGGERONI! Who the HELL is that?"
>Lev (OOC) says, "Not that conflicting, actually. You're coming down on the
door, I'm above the door. Picture me barely clearing over him and slashing
downwards?"
>Foil looks to Lyrae..PPPSSTS to her..waving her over, "Hey.. you.."
>Kim says, "Hey, stay on topic here."
>Ryan sits on the curb, watching the pyrotechnics. They aren't as impressive as
the stars circling his head, though.
>Kim asks, "What do you mean bring them back?"
>Lyrae stops short, looking at the doorframe, as Foil PPPSSTS to her, "Nani?"
She walks over to him.
>Foil whispers to Lyrae over the din of the massive explosions going on behind
him, "Do you know Ryan?" gesturing to the curb just outside the door, where he
sits daized.
>Lyrae nods at Foil, "Of course I know Ryan, why do you ask?" She looks past
Foil and blinks, ".. What happened??"
>Foil shhhs to Lyrae, "Tell you later. You know where he lives?" he questions,
"He needs rest."
>Lev lands behind Packbell, an energy barrier rapidly blasting everyone's eyes
with blue light as it takes the railgun fire directly, saving Vell from a
rather disasterous end.
>Packbell brings down all his weight upon Vell, glaring down as he points the
cannon at the door anyways despite the murderous cut across his chest, firing a
level 1 bolt into there.
>Lyrae nods with a worried frown, "Hai, I do.."
>Lev (OOC) was the one that was above Packbell? o_o;
>Foil nods to Lyrae, "Cool..could you take me there so I can help him there?"
nodding to her..gesturing to Ryan outside.
>Packbell says, "(OOC) Phrack."
>Lyrae nods and looks around, calling out, "Kim?? I'm going to be right back,
Ryan needs help. I'm going to take Foil to his apartment."
>Lyrae offers to lead Foil_Riposte.
>Foil_Riposte falls in line behind Lyrae.
>Kim looks up from talking to Joel and nods
>You fall in line behind Lyrae.
>Foil walks out to the curb..and helps Ryan up, "C'mon Hero. Off we go."
>Lev (OOC) says, "You dive at the door, I kick off the top of the arch, barely
clearing you, with an attempt of slashing downwards. I land behind you, and
take the railgun fire. Sound good?"

Intersection: Thor/Tyr
This intersection is relatively nice, if not for the lingering darkness to the
west on Thor Street. Luckily, all the streetlamps here are replaced
regularly..any graffiti is cleaned up almost immediately..and a neighbourhood
police patrol keeps an eye out for any shifty and suspicious types wandering
about. To the east, Thor Boulevard is a much more lively and light
place..housing many people in small housing complexes, and a few larger,
upper-middle class homes. To the South, Tyr Road continues in that direction,
with a mixture of hotels and apartment buildings. To the north, it seems to
disperse at an obscure point..though a few eateries catering to myriad tastes
can be seen.

Tyr Road [200](#228RL)
The 200 block of Tyr Road is almost exclusively fancy hotels and high-rise
apartment buildings. Available in a wide range of designs, from the mundane
box-shape, to more architecturally enthralling towers such as 'The Obelisk'.
Housing this close to the middle of everything isn't cheap, but it isn't as
expensive as owning your own home farther out to the east, either. The area is
also clean..and a few commercial buildings are scattered about..though they're
rather limited.

Obelisk Apartments: Ground Floor
To the west, facing the street, there is a wide entrance area with a double set
of revolving doors, both appropriate for entry or egress. However, where you
currently stand is more elevated. A set of steps leading from that spacious
hall unto this one, with cargo and service ramps running on either side of
that. Centered directly to the east is a very large reception desk, with
several clerks waiting to serve residents, or prospective customers. To the
south, the wall is marred by the oaken door to the manager's office, while to
either side of the desks are two elevators, and for the more physically adept,
a stairwell.

Welcome to the crowded impersonal world of the elevator. Here you can easily

climbing of step after step otherwise. Just look at the 'panel' beside the
buttons to find out where you can go, and press the candy-like control to get
taken there in (dis)comfort. Now if only that guy would remove his elbow from

Exactly as you'd expect. The clean hallways of this floor are maintained by a

fragrant, potted plants also dispell any odors that might make their way inside
here.

Not that he looks in real good shape.
>Foil continues hefting Ryan along, "Dude..you seriously need to hook up with

"Ah.." glances to Ryan as well.
>Lyrae places a hand on Ryan's shoulder, "Ry? We need to open the door, have you

Obelisk : Room 508 - Ryan's Apartment(#618R)
One word springs to mind as you walk into Ryan's apartment: cluttered. Stuff is
strewn everywhere, from the multitude of shelves that line the wall, to the
comic books and CD's on the floor.
The main room, which makes up most of the apartment, has apparently been
relegated to storage duty. Aside from the King-sized bed, the desk, and the TV,
all the rest of the furniture here is book shelves. As you look the shelves
over, you see a roughly equal proportion of both scholarly texts (physics
textbooks, archaeological logs, etc.), and comic books. How unusual. Hooked up
to the TV is a wide variety of video game consoles, some no longer supported.
The small kitchenette and bathroom are comparatively unremarkable.
