Prologue: A Discovery
A famous scientist from the planet Earth once made the comment, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." They had no idea about how correct that statement was. In the recesses of the universe, this is something that can be thought of as good, but that is not how the universe usually works.- They are near. I can hear them. I can feel them -
"Sir, we are fifteen minutes to arrival of the XR9-1 galaxy."
"Half speed, commander," replied the captain. "We don't want to go bolting straight in, now, do we?" he smiles jokingly.
"No sir," smiled back Commander Morak. "Half speed."
Captain Lenai sat back down in his seat, but found it uncomfortable for some reason. No, he thought, this is too incredible to sit down for. Lenai stood back up, his curiosity starting to get the better of him. The thought of being the first Genlek to enter a new galaxy was, to put it mildly, exhilarating. The information for the Moon Kingdom will be immeasurable. Serenity and Endymion will be so pleased. This is my big chance.
- So close. Mine. NOW!!! -
"Sir!!" the Second Commander shouted out. "Something's going on out there!"
Lenai's thoughts snapped back to the situation at hand. "Elaborate that thought, Mia."
"Galaxy XR9-1 is, well, moving towards us, sir," Mia said back in a less than believable voice.
"WHAT!?! How can that be? A galaxy can't move AT you. Something must be wrong with the sensors."
Yet, the galaxy seemed to continue moving towards them. The closer the Genlek vessel moved towards the celestial body, the more they all realized the grave reality of the situation. What they had assumed to be looking at were stars, and they were, but all about the size of maybe a asteroid. The gaseous anomalies they had seen were now moving around like a liquid. Then there was a bright light.
How could this be? Lenai thought. All our sensor readings, all our data!?! How could this be!!
The ship passed into the XR9-1 galaxy.
And the galaxy smiled.
