Story 3
Slowly, the darkened figure looked
up.
"Oh my..." whispered the figure
as she was pelted by a torrential rain that felt like it swept in sideways.
Her whisper was answered by the crack of near-by lightning and the sound
of thunder as it exploded directly over head. She slowly stood up as the
rainwater quickly washed away the mud that had smeared her clothing at
the knees and thighs.
"Is the right place...?" The figure
spoke quietly as she scanned her surroundings and the horizon. "I can hardly
see a thing."
She spotted a set of faint lights
in the distance, that looked like a city. Seeing it as her best chance,
she set out toward them. She would have no way of knowing, but everyone
of her actions had already occurred before, more than three weeks before,
at the very spot she was.
"I... I can feel him. He's here,
somewhere. But where? Why do you have to make this so hard, Pluto? Of course...
you just couldn't have brought me to the exact spot where he was, no...
you had to stick me out in the middle of nowhere!" shouted the figure as
she began to push against the wind and rain, toward the lights in the distance.
"I hope I can find him in time...
or all this planning will be useless, and nothing will change... nothing."
****
"Matt!! Come quick! Joshua's finally
coming out of it!"
The figure of Matt suddenly raced
into the room, trailed closely by Artemis and Serena. The first thing he
saw was the sight of Rei, Mina, and Lita kneeling around the bed in the
room. In the bed laid Joshua Derimond, the King of Io, who had been in
a coma ever since the group's return from Io.
Since the escape from Io, three
weeks previous, Matt had moved from Rei's temple to Serena's house until
her family came home, taking up the guest bedroom. They should have been
back two weeks before, but there was no sign of them. As each day passed,
Serena became more and more distraught and began to lose hope. They had
gone to her grandmother's and had not returned. Her grandmother had not
called, and neither had her parents or Sammy. Serena couldn't alert the
police or anyone, because she was needed here and she couldn't have any
more distractions. Not while the possible safety of the world was still
in danger.
Since the escape, the entire group
had changed, though Matt did not like to think about it. But it was evident.
In Rei, not much had changed. After she convinced her Grandpa that she
was with the rest of the group, and she hurt her self rollerblading, she
had pretty much returned to normal. She had become slightly quieter as
she looked upon Matt and Serena's almost relationship, though Matt insisted
there was nothing going on. She had become upset again when he had moved
out, but she thought it best for Serena. Why did it have to be him though?
Mina and Lita had not changed
much either. Both were slightly quieter since their trip, but none the
less changed. Artemis had become the caretaker of Luna, of sorts. He was
with her day and night, always trying to comfort her in anyway possible.
Luna, herself, and become quiet and emotional. Matt knew the whole ordeal
with Io, Joshua, and now his coma was tearing her up inside. She didn't
know what to do now, but she knew she still had feelings for him. She only
hoped he still cared.
Ami and Serena had changed considerably,
on the other hand. Ami, since the return, had become withdrawn and reclusive,
with good reason. The things Traquen had done to her were almost sickening
just to think about. She no longer socialized with the group. Ami, suprising
everyone, had told the group that it could only be her or Joshua... but
not both. Because they had to take care of Joshua while he was in his coma,
the choice was made without any actual deciding. Since they just couldn't
get rid of Joshua, Ami had kept her promise and stopped interacting with
the group. No one knew what they could do, other than watch the days slip
away that Ami steered away from them.
Serena had also become quiet.
She had started to become more and more dependent on Matt, and traveled
everywhere with him. Between Darien, Ami, and now her family, Matt was
afraid of how much more she could take before...
"Look! He's waking!" shouted Mina
as she looked down upon the slightly stirring body of Joshua. He had been
in a coma for 3 weeks now, ever since the return from Io. The group did
everything possible to help him, short of hospitalizing him. They were
afraid of what a doctor would do once he or she saw the different physiology
of an Iosion. So they kept him in bed at Serena's house until he either
recovered, or took a turn for the worse.
Slowly, Joshua opened his eyes.
The only major difference in Joshua since the time on Io was the slight,
dark beard that had formed. Unfortunately, because of his white hair, Joshua's
dark-colored beard made a slightly unpleasant combination. As Joshua opened
his eyes and focused them, he stared straight into the faces of the worried
Mina, Lita, Matt, Serena, and Luna. Rei held Artemis and hung back from
the bed, because of the little space near it.
Joshua opened his mouth, as if
to speak, but no sound emerged. He slumped onto his pillow again from the
exhaustion of trying to speak. Rei quickly put Artemis down, left and returned
with some water. She poured it into his mouth slowly as he painfully swallowed.
As he received more, he began to take bigger and faster gulps, until the
water disappeared.
"W-w- here... am..." croaked Joshua
as he looked around, swallowing hard.
"Your safe. We're all friends.
What's the last thing you remember?" Luna quickly spoke up as she approached
Joshua, with fear and tears in her eyes. She had waited for this moment.
She was finally going to find out if the Joshua Thelios Derimond she knew
had finally returned.
"I... do not..." Joshua whispered
as he again swallowed, savoring the slickness of his throat. He coughed
and shifted his head slightly, "I do not... remember...."
"You don't remember? Can you remember
anything? Do you know your name?" Matt spoke softly, concern growing in
his voice. The whole situation was sickeningly familiar.
Joshua paused for a moment, concentrated,
then shook his head slowly. Luna suddenly cried out and spoke out with
tears in her eyes.
"N-n-nothing? Not me? Not us?
Not anything? I... oh--" asked Luna , as she broke down and began to cry.
Joshua could do nothing but glance at her with sorrow in his eyes
as he shook his head.
"No... why?" Luna cried as she
jumped from the bed and flew from the room with Artemis right on her heels
calling after her.
Joshua turned to meet the eyes
of the rest and watched them as a tear welled in his eye. He closed his
eyes and laid his head back down. The thought of him not remembering wasn't
as scary as not knowing why that cat was talking, or why he could not help
her.
****
"So... he's finally awake. Hmmm..."
The huge, shadowed figure sat
hunched over in his throne-like chair and stared intently at the portal
that displayed the scene in Serena's house. The shadow that enveloped him
and the room grew blacker. He looked, instead of being surrounded in shadow,
to be penetrated by the darkness. Like he was nothing more than darkness.
His glowing red eyes did not help to dispel this line of thought from anyone
who saw him. Anyone who had seen him, would also agree that he was certainly
not human. Though he could change his shape at will, the one of being a
large semi-human, semi-beast one seemed to inflict the most fear in the
hearts of mortals. And that's what he wanted.
Pure, undivided fear.
"If that infidel fails to accomplish
what I've told him... it will be his death." said the figure quietly. Even
quietly, his hideous voice echoed from the close-quartered walls and resounded.
It gave his voice more edge to it... as if it was needed.
"He had better rid me of those
damned Sailor Scouts and that infernal Tuxedo Moogle. My plans for that
solar system had better not interfered with by them, or he'll pay severely.
I will not be foiled by a small group of insignificant humans!! If he fails...
he dies."
Slowly, the voice trailed off
as the figure resumed watching the portal.
****
The scream pierced the air like
a knife. The second the sound slammed into eardrum, Matt was awake and
up. He quickly glanced around the room to gain his bearings. It was pitch
dark, and he was sitting on something soft. Then it hit him. He was in
his room, in his bed, at Serena's. It had been about 14 hours since then
awaking of Joshua. In that time, between Lita, Mina, Serena, and himself,
they had managed to tell Joshua about his past, from what they knew and
what Luna had told them. He was constantly asking questions as he tried
to remember at least some of it. He looked like he was improving, though
with a painful slowness. Luna had been mysteriously absent since Joshua
woke. Mina reported that Artemis was missing also. He had disappeared at
the same time Luna did. The group just hoped they would come home soon.
"MATT!! HELP!!" screamed the voice
again. This time he recognized it. It was Serena's. And it was coming from
her room.
Matt quickly leapt from the bed
and bolted out his door. He had taken to wearing not only pants but also
a shirt when he slept, in case he needed to get up quickly like he was,
and in case an episode like the one that happened at the temple with Serena
in his bed occurred again. Matt knew that in the process of protecting
and comforting Serena, he had developed feelings for her. But his honor
and integrity would not allow himself to take of advantage of Serena, especially
in her condition. Unfortunately, in the process of trying to separate himself
from Serena, for her sake, he realized she was beginning to think that
he did not want to be with her. He wanted that more then anything, and
it killed him to push Serena away, but it had to be done. For both their
sakes.
Matt reached the hallway and had
turned when a laughter erupted from Serena's room. It was a male laughter.
When he realized whose it was, Matt froze in shock. It was a sound that
Matt thought he would never have to hear again.
It was Traquen's laugh.
****
"Luna? Are you awake?"
Luna slowly looked up into the
eyes of Artemis. She had been lightly napping, but that didn't matter.
What did matter is that she felt safe. And she felt content.
They were in a section of woods
that Luna had found, and stayed at many times, before she met Serena. The
shock of Joshua and the situation had caused her to flee to this location.
She regretted abandoning her friends, but she just could go back there,
feeling the way she did. Within the first three hours of her arrival, Artemis
had appeared. After an argument about the fact that she wanted to be alone,
and Artemis thought she shouldn't, he won and stayed with her. The victory
itself was strange, because Luna never lost arguments with Artemis. But
this time, she only put up a half-hearted attempt, for reasons she didn't
even understand. Her emotions were just so distorted that she could not
think straight, which led her to flee to this spot. The night had fallen
quickly, and Luna had turned in for the night, after an uneventful and
silent day. She barely said two words after the argument, and Artemis didn't
know what to do, so he keep quiet until she spoke to him.
"I'm awake, Artemis..." said Luna
sleepily as she rolled over to face him. He was laying about three meters
from her and staring at her intently. He looked as if he was struggling
over something.
"Is... something wrong, Artemis?"
Luna spoke again as the seconds ticked by without him replying to her first
response. She shifted her feet until they were under her. She paused as
Artemis opened his mouth.
"Luna... you are very beautiful."
The answer caught her totally
off guard. She blinked once, then twice and began to stare at Artemis as
the realization of what he just blurted out sunk in. She became even more
surprised when she thought about it more.
"Why... why do you say that, Artemis?"
Luna spoke quietly, trying to keep her voice under control. She lost it
right at the end, causing her voice to break on the word Artemis. She closed
her mouth and began to stare at him again.
"Luna, may I kiss you?" Artemis
purred softly as he rose to his feet. Luna uncontrollably shifted on her
feet as she sat there watching him rise.
"Artemis, I don't think we--"
She began. She was suddenly cut off as Artemis leaned down and pressed
his lips against hers, stopping all sound from emerging.
The kiss was like a lightning
bolt. The jolt of energy surged through her, causing her to get goose-bumps.
Her eyes grew wide as she saw herself, as if almost in the third person,
begin to slowly kiss Artemis back. All thoughts of her stopping him or
pulling away quickly melted away as he pressed his lips onto her harder,
causing the kiss to become more passionate. She stared in wonder as her
own lips, which would not respond to her commands, began to match the pressure
that Artemis had begun to apply. She slowly closed her eyes as the exotic
feelings washed over her. All dark thoughts of Joshua were slowly replaced
by one single question.
She wondered what was going to
happen next.
****
"Oooooo... why do these things
always happen to me? MATT! HELP!!" screamed Serena as she took a step away
from the dark figure that stood in front of her. She knew who the figure
was, because she recognized his laugh when he entered her room. It was
Joshua, laughing Traquen's laugh.
"I told you I would be back. No
power in the universe can defeat me. I am evil incarnate. I am darkness
alive." laughed Traquen as he took a step forward toward Serena. "I am
the Lord of Darkness... and I've come to finish what I started back on
Io. Hahahahahah..."
"Wanna bet, monster? MOON CRYSTAL
POWER!"
With a quick flash of light,
Serena transformed into Sailor Moon, and planted her feet solidly on the
ground. She stared straight at Traquen with a hard demeanor. She was trying
to summon all her courage.
Traquen suddenly stopped advancing
and stared at her. A second later, his eyes grew wide and he began to laugh
again, much to the dismay of Sailor Moon.
"Do you think you can honestly
beat me, Moon-brat? What do you plan to do? Cry on me? Hahahahahaha..."
said Traquen as he began to move toward Sailor Moon again. "I can annihilate
you into so many pieces... they would find you from here to that little,
puny moon you lived on."
"Ok, buddy. You asked for it.
MOON TIARA MAGIC!" shouted Serena as she grabbed her tiara and tossed it
at Traquen. As it flew, the tiara formed into a glowing yellow disk which
sailed straight towards the evil being at an incredible speed. But, instead
of connecting with it's target, the tiara banked sharply at the end of
it's flight and sailed straight into the far wall, where it struck and
fell, a tiara once again. Traquen didn't even flinch as the tiara had sailed
toward him. As soon as it banked he began to laugh again. Sailor Moon watched
as the tiara missed and began to shake in fear.
"It looks like I broke your little
toy. I am sorry. Got any others you would care to try?"
"Uh oh... how did you--?" Serena
whispered as she took a step back, stepping against the wall. Traquen began
to advance once again. He took two more steps and stopped. He slowly raised
his hands and smiled.
"DARK SOLAR WIND!"
With the command, a huge blast
of dark wind and energy slammed into Sailor Moon with gall force. She leaned
against the wind, fighting it, until a gust knocked out her feet from below
her. With another gust, Sailor Moon slammed up into the wall with a scream
and collapsed to the ground unconscious. Traquen stopped the blast and
began to laugh again.
"Ah... foolish Moon-child. I know
you were afraid... and you know what? You should be. I am going to make
sure that, this time, I am not inter--"
The last part of his sentence
never passed his lips, because at that moment, Serena's bedroom door exploded
inward behind him, throwing him to the ground from the blast. Standing
in the doorway was Matt, with a red rose in his hand. His face, as seen
with the darkness around him, looked ice-cold and deadly. Traquen was stunned
momentarily as he rolled over and gazed at Matt's hard face. The shock
quickly wore off, and Traquen rose to his feet, mouth clenched, never taking
his eyes off of Matt.
"I knew you would come. You always
seem to come the rescue at just the right moment." spoke Traquen to the
figure in the doorway. His eyes gleamed with a internal light as he rose
to full height. "I will truly enjoy it when I rip your warm, beating heart
from your body and watch as you collapse, convulsing, and die at my feet.
It is a fitting fate for your intervention back on Io, that disrupted my
plans."
"Traquen, I thought we finished
you on Io. I watched you die myself. What are you doing here, now?" Matt
spoke, in an even voice, as he looked past Traquen to see the limp body
of Sailor Moon, "If you've harmed her, I'll..."
"You will what? Kill me again?"
laughed Traquen. "I told you that Io was not the end between us. I warned
you I would be back. And now I am here, just as I promised. You should
not look so surprised, Light-man. You had ample warning."
"No, Traquen, it ends. Now."
"No, my friend. This is not the
end, either. Not by a long shot. For you, Light-man, we have only just
begun!" shouted Traquen as he quickly turned and lunged at the body of
Sailor Moon. Matt instantly flung his rose as Traquen paused, scooped up
Sailor Moon, and flew from a crouch straight through Serena's bedroom window.
The rose sank into the wall at the spot Traquen had been when he grabbed
Sailor Moon, missing by only a second. As the rose connected with the wall,
Traquen launched himself and Sailor Moon through the open window and dropped
out of sight. Matt quickly ran to the window and looked down. Traquen was
on the street with Sailor Moon in hand, running into the night, still laughing
insanely.
"No, Traquen. Your wrong. I am
going to make sure this ends here... and now." Matt whispered as he crouched.
With a lunge, he sailed through the opening also and shouted:
"MOOGLE LIGHT TRANSFORMATION!"
****
"Die, Light-man!!"
The black-clad figure of Tuxedo
Moogle lunged back into the alley farther, barely missing the swing that
Traquen made with a claymore-like sword that he had created out of thin
air. Tuxedo Moogle realized he was slowly being pushed backwards by Traquen,
who stood between him and the still-limp Sailor Moon.
Moogle had found Traquen and Sailor
Moon by using his still mostly unharnessed mental powers that he had been
honing, thanks to Rei, to locate the largest source of evil. He found it
on a small back road, away from the main section of Tokyo. He had raced
there from rooftop to rooftop and confronted Traquen. He knew that if he
held out long enough, the rest of the scouts would show up, like they always
managed somehow.
"Argghh..." Moogle strained as
he blocked an over-head strike by Traquen. Their swords crossed together
in a violent power struggle. Traquen suddenly eased up slightly and smiled.
With a quick movement, he brought his foot up into the side of Tuxedo Moogle
with all his might. Before the foot connected, it was suddenly halted.
Traquen looked down in horror as he saw that his foot was caught in the
hand of Tuxedo Moogle. That split second of surprise was all the time Moogle
needed. He let his other hand drop from his long sword that was blocking
Traquen's over-head swing still, causing his sword to fall, and placed
it on the stunned Traquen's chest.
"MOOGLE STAR FLARE!" whispered
Tuxedo Moogle as a huge blast of light and energy exploded from his hand,
and slammed into Traquen at point-blank range. With a loud scream of pain,
Traquen sailed from the alley and crashed into the ground about three feet
from the prone body of Sailor Moon, who was laying on the deserted sidewalk.
As almost as quick as Traquen
had sailed out of the alley, Tuxedo Moogle was there, at the mouth of the
alley, his sword back in his hand in a defensive position. Traquen rose
to his feet, using his claymore for support as he stood straight. He gripped
his chest as he straighten out.
"Allow me the pleasure of returning
the fire that you created in me... that is burning in my chest. DARK ENERGY...
BLAST!!" screamed Traquen as he dropped his sword and threw his hands forward.
His eyes became ovals of pure blackness... they seemed to cut straight
through Tuxedo Moogle's body as Traquen stared at him. All of Joshua's
posture and demeanor were gone. He looked the same... but he stood taller,
more powerfully. It was like he was feeding on energy and becoming stronger
by the moment.
Sensing the blast coming, Moogle
suddenly brought a shield of energy into existence around himself. The
instant the blast of dark energy slammed into his energy shield, it collapsed,
letting the remaining energy from Traquen's attack hit him with full strength.
He was instantly thrown backwards into the alley-way, his sword launched
from his hand and sent flying.
"Your light will soon be gone
from this universe... MY universe!!" shouted Traquen as the energy exploded
around him, increasing in intensity. He continued to blast Tuxedo Moogle
with all his energy as he became ingulfed in its power. His hideous laughter
dimmed as the dark, fiery blast slammed through the tiny passage way of
the alley, catching the convulsing Tuxedo Moogle with full force. As he
violently shook on the ground while the dark power surged through him,
he began to lose awareness. The pain was slowly becoming a continuous throbbing
in his mind. He realized he was blacking out. If he fully blacked-out,
he knew what would happen. Traquen would kill him. And then Sailor Moon
would be left to Traquen's will. If he went under, he would fail Sailor
Moon. The scene was like some horrible flashback to Tuxedo Mask's death...
only now, Tuxedo Moogle was the one who was slowly dying.
"No... I... am... not... through
yet..." strained Tuxedo Moogle, as he slowly rose back up to his knees,
despite the enormous blast of energy coursing through him, fighting his
every move. Traquen couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"I will not... fail Serena...!"
"I am impressed, Light-man." Traquen
spoke, as he attempted to pump even more dark energy into the still-rising
Tuxedo Moogle. "But even your greatest powers are not enough to stop me.
You can't keep up this show of strength for long. Even now, your body is
giving out from under you."
As if he was defying Traquen's
words themselves, Tuxedo Moogle instantly rose to full height as soon as
Traquen had spoken. With a sweep, Tuxedo Moogle summoned a small amount
of light energy, and used it to deflect Traquen's blast to the side. Traquen
smiled darkly, and stopped the beam. Tuxedo Moogle, exhausted and hurt
from the blast, could do nothing but watch as Traquen began to laugh dementedly.
"I truly am impressed, Light-man.
I did not think you had it in you to fight my attack." commented Traquen,
as he continued to chuckle. "Of course, fighting my attack has left you
completely defenseless to any other attack I might throw at you. Pity,
is it not? All that work... just to be beaten down even harder..."
Instead of replying, Tuxedo Moogle
watched his battered body begin to laugh loudly at Traquen. It was the
only thing he could still do. Traquen was right. Tuxedo Moogle could barely
even move a muscle. But, if he had to die... he would do it on his own
terms. Laughing defiance at Traquen until the very end.
"Very good, Light-man. I am glad
to see that you have a sense of humor after all." called Traquen, slowly
raising his arm out to Tuxedo Moogle. "You can die with a smile on your
face! DARK INFERNO!!"
****
"I hope I am not too late! Oh god..."
whispered the dark figure to herself as she leapt across another building-top.
After days of searching, she had
finally found what she was looking for. She had saw the energy burst at
the edge of the city, and it had drawn her like a magnet. She had found
him.
She had found Joshua, King of
Io.
"Please, let there still be time!"
she said again as she made another bound from building to building. She
was quickly making her way to the spot where she saw the energy. She knew
that if she didn't hurry she would be too late, and if she was late, everyone
was doomed.
She made another huge leap, and
finally saw the sight. It was a back alley off of a main road, near the
edge of town. On this road, she saw what she was looking for. On the road,
the prone body of Sailor Moon was resting. In the alley, the also-prone
body of Tuxedo Moogle laid, smoke slowly rising off his motionless body
as a blast of dark energy hit him.
Standing in the middle of the
road, stood Joshua Derimond, delivering the blast of energy. He was not
moving, but was laughing wickedly as he continued to fry Tuxedo Moogle.
"Joshua--? What's he...? Oh no!
Traquen!" whispered the figure as she realized why evil was pervading his
presence. She also realized that she was not late, but in fact had arrived
at the best possible time.
The figure took a deep breath
and leapt from the top of the building to the road below, confronting Traquen.
****
Suddenly, Tuxedo Moogle's eyes
flew open. As they did, pain shot through his entire body. He uncontrollably
convulsed and began to cough violently. Almost every part of him was burnt,
and throbbing in extreme pain. He fought the urge to black out again as
he tried to remember what happened. Suddenly, the fog around his mind cleared,
and it all came rushing back to him.
He was on the ground, being attacked
by Traquen, he remembered screaming and passing out. But... what had happened?
He looked around. He was still on the ground, in the alley... and was still
staring into the night sky, but he was not dead. For that matter, he couldn't
even see Traquen, not that he could see much else, for his vision was focusing
in and out uncontrollably, but when it did focus, he all he saw was the
night sky and the stars above.
He had to get up. First, he might
be bleeding internally, and he need to get up for he'd choke on his own
blood. Second, he needed to find out what happened and help Serena...
SERENA!
The thought surged through him
like a lightning bolt. Sailor Moon was still out there, and who knows what
Traquen might have, or could have done while Tuxedo Moogle was unconscious.
He attempted to move his arm, but stopped and cried out suddenly as the
pain coursed through his entire body. He was in bad shape. The faint smell
of his burnt flesh tainted the air, along with the smell of ozone that
was left behind by Traquen's blast. Traquen had released so much energy,
that the cool night air had been replaced with a hot, strong wind. Beyond
all that, he knew he had to get up. Since his mind was too clouded to sense
anything, he couldn't sense Sailor Moon, Traquen, or anyone for that matter...
and that was bad. They could be all dead for all he knew.
Tuxedo Moogle suddenly clenched
his teeth and closed his eyes. Thinking about his condition and complaining
was not going to help Serena... he had to get up. Slowly, he relaxed his
body, and tried to push the pain from his mind. With a quick burst of strength,
he flipped to his feet. He screamed in pain as he put weight on his legs,
and almost fell over again. But, he managed to gain his balance and stay
standing. He grinded his teeth in pain and opened his eyes painfully. The
sight that greeted him was not one he had expected.
Sailor Moon still laid on the
ground, apparently unconscious still. That brought him some relief. Next
to her, though, stood a motionless Traquen, with his back to Tuxedo Moogle.
Beyond him, stood a smaller figure, who was shaded by the shadows on the
street, and also stood motionless.
Tuxedo Moogle attempted to take
a step toward them, but his leg would only respond sluggishly, so stead
of taking a small step, he stubbled forward loudly, catching his balance
only after a couple moments. When he looked again, Traquen had turned to
his direction, a horrified look on his face. Tuxedo Moogle glanced at his
face, and would have remained looking at it, if it were not for the next
thing that caught his eye. In Traquen's right hand, he gripped a dagger.
A long-handled dagger with a blood-stained blade. Moogle's glance
quickly shifted to glance at Traquen's body. In the middle of his right
shoulder was a large blood stain, like the one that would have been made
by sharp object, like the dagger. Tuxedo Moogle took on a large perplexed
look, one that rivaled Traquen's, as he tried to process what had happened
while he had blacked out. Who was the person in the shadows? And... had
he/she thrown the dagger?
The questions in his mind were
suddenly silenced as Tuxedo Moogle glanced behind Traquen in time to see
the dark figure step out of the shadows.
The figure was a woman. She stood
about 5'2", and had a beautiful, slim figure. She had long, slightly-curly
blonde hair, like the color of Serena's, that cascaded down off of her
shoulders and on to the front of a black rain poncho she wore. She she
took another step and stopped as the still stunned Traquen turned back
to her once again. The woman took another step, stopped, and planted her
feet in a stance. She looked like she was preparing for an attack. Moogle
squinted to see her face better, and gasped when he got a good look. She
was 30 feet away, but he'd recognize that face anywhere, or at least the
one it looked like.
It looked like Sailor Mercury's
face.
Tuxedo Moogle instinctively took
a step back as his brain made the connection. From the way she looked,
she could have been Ami's sister, older probably, Tuxedo Moogle thought,
taking a stab at her age from the way she looked. She looked to be about
21, but Tuxedo Moogle knew that looks could be deceiving, and that she
could be as old as 30, or as young as 15. He became more and more puzzled
as he thought about the situation more. Had she been the one to throw the
dagger? Who was she? And... what did she want?
His thoughts were interrupted
again, this time by Traquen. For the first time since Tuxedo Moogle awakened,
he finally said something.
"Who the hell are you?!" Traquen
shouted at the mysterious woman, sounding as, if not more, confused then
Tuxedo Moogle was. He suddenly dropped the dagger and kicked it away as
he regained some of his posture. Some of the confusion was gone, Tuxedo
Moogle realized, as he also discovered that he was beginning to sense everyone
again. He could only sense Traquen, who's evil force almost overwhelmed
Moogle, and Sailor Moon, whose feeling was faint, probably because she
was unconscious. He couldn't sense anything else, figuring that it was
because he was still recovering. Even so, one thing perplexed him even
more. He couldn't get ANY feeling on the woman in the road. It was like
she didn't exist. Tuxedo Moogle couldn't understand it. For the first time,
much to the surprise of Tuxedo Moogle, the woman finally spoke.
"Who I am is not important, Joshua.
What's important is to know who you are. I have come to help you, Joshua...
I am here for you." The woman softly spoke out, with with no fear or emotion
in her voice. She sounded completely calm and in control. Tuxedo Moogle's
main question he wanted to know now was how she knew about Joshua.
"I am not Joshua. I am Traquen!
I am the Lord of Darkness and Master of All! Joshua Derimond no longer
exists." Traquen ranted, all the anger and hatred back in his voice again.
It had become the raspy croaking it usually was. His whole demeanor had
changed also. He was no longer the confused person Tuxedo Moogle felt,
but now the hellish, evil Traquen that Tuxedo Moogle had always felt. He
could almost SEE the evil coming off of him.
The figure spoke calmly again,
unflinched by Traquen's harsh yelling. Any normal person would have shook
in terror as Traquen's bass-filled voice boomed out, but the woman didn't
move a single muscle. This was even more reason for Tuxedo Moogle to wonder.
Who was she? How did she know about Joshua? What did she want? The questions
kept repeating themselves through his head.
"No... your wrong. Joshua is not
gone. I can feel him fighting you. Fighting for control again. All
he needs is just a little help, and he can overcome you." she spoke definitely,
almost fool-heartedly, in the face of Traquen. Tuxedo Moogle could see
that Traquen was becoming even angrier, seeing that she did not fear him.
No human would defy him like this, and get away with it.
"I don't care who you are, or
how you know who I am. I will just kill you and be done with you. I have
other plans I must attend to, so I will make this quick..." screamed Traquen,
the hatred seeping through his voice. Traquen quickly raised his hands
and shouted.
"DARK ENERGY... BLAST!" Traquen
screamed as another blast of dark energy exploded from his hands, straight
toward the mysterious woman. The air whistled from the force of the blast
as it flew through the air, careening toward the woman. As the beam approached,
she continued not to move. She continued to stand in the same position,
in the same stance. Moogle knew that if she didn't move, she would surely
die the second the blast hit her.
"Look out! Run!" Tuxedo
Moogle croaked as loud as possible. The sound he made was harsh, and it
felt like it was ripping apart his wind pipe as it emerged, but at least
it was loud enough that she could have heard it. Even so, she didn't move
an inch. Tuxedo Moogle looked on in hopeless horror as the beam slammed
into her and exploded. Traquen gave a small laugh and turned toward Tuxedo
Moogle.
"Ah, Light-man... you have awaken.
Now that I am finished with that small interruption... it looks like I
will have the pleasure of frying you again." Traquen laughed hideously
as he took a step toward Tuxedo Moogle. Moogle knew that should Traquen
attack, he would be no match in his present condition. He could barely
stand, let alone fight off Traquen. He was in trouble.
Suddenly, he saw his only option.
He couldn't win a fight, and there was nothing else he could do... except...
"Traquen... you will never realized
your ignorance. If you strike me down now, it will be a pointless gesture.
Like my predecessor before me, my power will just pass on to someone else.
And that person will fight you! And the next, and the next..." Tuxedo Moogle
smirked. He knew he was out of options. "No matter how many humans you
kill... there will always be someone left to continue fighting you."
"I am not threatened by your words,
Light-man. When you die... you will only be one thing. Not a martyr, or
a hero. You will be dead! No one will take notice of your death... because
I will quickly kill all the others around you who would care. And I will
start with her." spoke Traquen, a sudden calm in his voice as he pointed
a finger to Sailor Moon. He was certain he had finally won.
Tuxedo Moogle slowly closed his
eyes and took a deep breath. This was it. But... he knew what would happen
if Traquen killed him, and Traquen didn't. That was his one advantage.
He silently wished Serena a safe journey as he heard Traquen approaching.
Traquen was going to kill him with his own hands, no more far attacks,
he meant to finish it.
"You are a fool, Tuxedo Moogle...
will you not even fight back? Have you finally seen what I have said all
along? There is no way you could ever truly defeat me."
"No, Traquen... you're the fool.
I can face my end, but you will always run from yours. One day... that
will be your down-fall. The darkness that you command will, one day, consume
you."
"Perhaps... but for now... that
darkness will be the death of you first!" whispered Traquen, as he suddenly
yanked out his sword. Even with his eyes closed, Moogle could tell that
he was going to make one hard, final blow.
Whatever happened next, he would
face it with open arms.
He was ready.
****
The blow never came.
Instead, a light gust of wind
hit Tuxedo Moogle's face, followed by the sound of something slamming into
something, then something falling. Tuxedo Moogle quickly opened to see
what had happened. He was again caught off-guard by what he saw.
Traquen was no longer standing
in front of him. Instead, he was now lying on his back, at the open end
of the alley. Tuxedo Moogle was barely able to questioned had just happened,
when he got his answer. A person dropped in front of him from the sky above.
The person hit the ground, rolled and stood up, masked by the shadows.
The figure quickly turned to Tuxedo Moogle.
"You are Tuxedo Moogle. You--"
The figure began. Tuxedo Moogle recognized the voice. It was the woman's.
She began to tell Moogle something, but stopped, then started again in
a different tone, "..you have to move now. While he's stunned!"
"Your... your not dead...?"
"No. I'm fine. But... please!
You have to heal him! That will be enough to let Joshua push through and
regain control. Please hurry!"
All questions of what just happened
were pushed out of his mind as it registered the last words the woman said.
"But... I only ever did that once....
and that was with the help of all the others!" Moogle shouted, all thoughts
now trained on the situation at hand, and not of the million questions
he wanted to ask, like: How did she know all this? And who WAS SHE?
"No... but Sailor Moon has the
Silver Crystal... you've got to use that! I'll hold off Traquen. The Silver
Crystal is our only chance!" The woman shouted as she turned and ran toward
the rising Traquen. Tuxedo Moogle had no idea what was going on, but he
felt he should listen. She sounded like an ally, and that's all that mattered.
Tuxedo Moogle realized he was
going to have to try to leap up and out of the alley. He would never survive
a teleport, and Traquen and the woman were blocking the exit to the alley.
His only option was to go over. He didn't know if he had the strength,
but it was his only chance.
Moogle closed his eyes and concentrated.
He filled his legs with energy, and leapt.
Tuxedo opened eyes to a incredible
sight. He was about ten feet above the top of the buildings that made up
the side of the alley. He was also sailing forward at an incredible rate.
He looked down just in time to see himself sail over Traquen and the woman.
She had confronted him, and was blocking a swing he made with his sword
with a sword of her own. Where she got it, Moogle could only guess... then
he realized where. It was HIS long sword! The one he dropped when Traquen
blasted him. She must have found it and picked it up.
A moment later, Tuxedo Moogle
slammed into the ground on the other side of the alley. He began to roll
from the force of his landing. He came to a halt, ironically, next to the
still Sailor Moon. He quickly stood and grimaced in pain. He landed harder
then he thought. That, coupled with the rest of the pain, was almost to
much for him. He dropped to one knee next to Sailor Moon.
"Serena! Can you hear me? Wake
up! Serena!" Tuxedo Moogle shouted as he took hold of Sailor Moon's limp
shoulders and shook. He got no response. He knew she was ok, he could feel
that much, but she was still out of it. He quickly glanced up again toward
the alley way, now 15 yards behind and to the right of him. The woman and
Traquen were exchanging a flurry of blows and blocks, at almost dizzying
speed. Tuxedo Moogle realized that the woman had wielded a sword before,
which just added to the mystery of who she was. He also realized that he
had more important things to worry about, and he didn't know how long the
woman would last against Traquen's skill and power. He quickly turned back
toward Sailor Moon.
"I'm sorry to do this, Serena...
but I have no choice..." whispered Tuxedo Moogle as he took a hold of her
and rolled her onto her back. He acted quickly, reaching down and opening
her compact. Inside sat the Silver Crystal, softly glowing under it's own
power.
"Silver Crystal... I need you.
You must help me defeat this evil. Will you lend me your strength?" Tuxedo
Moogle quietly whispered, as he stole a quick glance backwards to the fighting
pair. They were still moving at an incredible speed, each one having yet
to land a blow. Tuxedo Moogle wondered where the woman had learned to use
a sword. He wasn't even sure that he could beat her, if he got into a fight
with her.
A light suddenly flashed in front
of Tuxedo Moogle, causing him to turn back toward Sailor Moon. The crystal
was flashing a soft-yellowish light, and suddenly rose into the air, free
of the compact. The second it left, Sailor Moon reverted back into Serena...
still dressed in her bunny pj's. Tuxedo Moogle quickly took the crystal
into his hands and stood, with great difficulty. He raised the Silver Crystal
above his head and shouted.
"MOOGLE CYSTAL HEALING... ACTIVATION!!"
With a gigantic blast of white
light, the crystal flashed outward, engulfing Tuxedo Moogle in the blast.
The light was bright enough to cause Traquen to stop fighting and shield
his eyes.
"Arrrggg... what is that light?"
Traquen screamed as he covered his eyes, as if the light caused him pain.
The woman had also stopped, and began staring a the huge ball of light
that was now hovering above the road. The ball slowly began to condense,
until it formed the shape of a humanoid. Slowly, the lighted figure dropped
to the ground, as if it was a feather.
The light quickly disappeared,
and in it's place stood Matt. His outfit and body looked completely restored.
He didn't have a scratch on him.
Matt slowly turned to face the
woman and Traquen. All the pain that he was suffering was gone. Instead,
he looked perfectly healthy. His eyes, which had been closed, suddenly
flashed open, glowing with a white light. He slowly opened his mouth and
spoke softly.
"Hello, Traquen." Tuxedo Moogle
whispered softly, as a sparkling flash ran across his body. "I'm back."
****
The moment was all she needed.
While Traquen was distracted by Tuxedo Moogle, she made her move. Traquen
sensed it coming, but was a moment too late to stop it. The woman lunged
past the front of Traquen, with her sword outstretched. Before he could
act, she disarmed him and dove away, finally rolling to her feet at the
mid-way point between Tuxedo Moogle and Traquen. She quickly turned to
Tuxedo Moogle and shouted loudly.
"He's defenseless! NOW!" She screamed
as she turned toward Traquen again. He was no longer stunned, but had on
his usual dark look. Now, he looked as angry as Tuxedo Moogle had ever
seen.
"You will pay for that, you little
bit--"
His sentence was suddenly cut
off as Tuxedo Moogle screamed out, seemingly out of nowhere.
"MOOGLE CRYSTAL HEALING.... ACTAVATION!!"
screamed Moogle, again, as he brought his hands forward, aimed at Traquen.
In them, he was holding the Silver Crystal. A second later, a huge beam
of sparkling energy fired in a wide arc, straight at the open-mouthed Traquen.
Unfortunately, a second was all Traquen needed. He suddenly flashed out
of existence in a blast of dark energy, and reappeared an instant later,
hovering in mid-air, straight above the spot he had just been. As he appeared
there, Tuxedo Moogle's beam shot under him. But Tuxedo Moogle, using his
heightened reflexes, changed the direction of the blast, grunting at the
strain it put on him to move and continue to fire the beam. He was quickly
running out of energy. He groaned in pain as he suddenly swung his hands
across his chest and upward, causing the beam to soar up into the sky,
directly at Traquen, like a laser beam slicing through the air. This time,
Traquen countered it with a shield of dark energy, just as the beam reached
him. The force of the beam blasted him from the sky, causing him to sail
into the ground with a loud crash. By the same token, the force of the
beam was to much for Tuxedo Moogle, as he continued to swing upward, until
he was pointing the crystal directly upward. The rest of the beam fired
off into the night sky and faded in the distance. Tuxedo Moogle dropped
his hands, paused, then collapsed in exhaustion
Traquen slowly rose and shook
his head, clearing it. He turned to look at Tuxedo Moogle and laughed triumphantly.
His eyes were glowing a horrible reddish tint.
"Light-man... you will never learn.
But, I must say that was an impressive beam you missed me with!" roared
Traquen, as he looked on to the heavily-breathing Tuxedo Moogle and the
woman, as she ran over to him. He watched as she crouched and stared at
Tuxedo Moogle.
"He's still too powerful..." said
the woman as she knelt down next to Tuxedo Moogle.
"You're... telling me!" replied
Tuxedo Moogle, gasping heavily. He held the Silver Crystal loosely in his
hands.
"We have to keep fighting him
until he wears down!" said the woman, placing a hand on Tuxedo Moogle's
shoulder.
"I know... but--"
The last part of his sentence
was cut off by Traquen's laugh. He was preparing to fire a beam on the
two prone figures. They would never be able to get up and away quick enough
to avoid the blast that was about to come.
But it never did.
Just as Traquen flung his hands
forward, a voice rang out.
"MARS FIRE...IGNITE!"
The voice was quickly followed
by two more...
"JUPITER...THUNDER....CRASH!
"VENUS CRESENT BEAM....SMASH!"
Traquen suddenly stopped, and
turned to look behind him, just as a blast of fire, electricity, and energy
slammed into his back. He shouted and sailed forward, crashing to the ground
again. As he landed, a lamp post behind him came on. In the center
of the light stood Sailor Mars, leaning against the post, with her arms
crossed. Two more came on, revealing Sailor Venus and Sailor Jupiter in
the same position. Tuxedo Moogle looked up, and smiled. The calvary had
arrived.
"We are the soldiers..." Mars
stated.
"The soldiers for love...." continued
Venus.
"And for justice!" finished Jupiter.
"We are the Sailor Scouts!" the
trio cried in unison as they suddenly leapt forward together to the spot
that Traquen had been standing at. He was turned on his side, looking at
them with contempt. He growled slightly, and and picked himself up off
the ground, rising to his full height as dark energy surged around him.
Tuxedo Moogle rose, also, and looked at Traquen. Traquen was not facing
him.
"Ah... The scouts. I figured it
was about time you showed up! I was starting to worry." said Traquen as
he crossed his arms. "I am so glad you're all here. That means I do not
have to hunt you down to kill you!"
"Never! We've come to stop you
Traquen. Again!" cried out Jupiter.
"We won't let you hurt anyone
else... including Joshua." Venus followed in suit.
"Your reign of terror is over,
Traquen!" shouted Mars, continuing.
"It's time you gave up Traquen...
you can't win. You know that." shouted the woman, the loudest she had ever
spoken since Moogle first saw her. The Scouts turned in surprise at the
new person, but said nothing.
"Traquen, I will not forget what
you did to Serena... I will show you the hell you so deserve! Scouts! Combine
your powers. Together, we will push him back. Just like last time." yelled
tuxedo Moogle finally as he took a breath and raised his hands above his
head, holding the Silver Crystal.
"We understand... ready scouts?"
Mars yelled as she joined hands with Venus, who joined hands with Jupiter.
"Yes!"
"I do not give up. If I die, I
will be sure to take you all with me to that 'hell' you mentioned, Light-man!
Come on, humans... show me what you have!" Traquen screamed as he suddenly
began to fire off shots of darkness at each of the scouts. Each one of
them came within striking distance and vanished instantly. Tuxedo Moogle
looked around and saw why. The mysterious woman, who was next to him, was
chanting and glowing.
She had created an energy field
to shield the group.
"What?!" said Traquen, as he started
firing shots more quickly. He was becoming frustrated as each one disappeared.
"Scouts! It's now or never!" commanded
Tuxedo Moogle as he closed his eyes and concentrated.
"Right!" the trio shouted.
"MARS STAR POWER!" yelled Mars
as she closed her eyes and began to glow red.
"VENUS STAR POWER!" shouted Venus
as she began to glow orange.
"JUPTIER STAR POWER!" shouted
Jupiter as she, too, began to glow. She had a greenish hue around her.
An instant later, a flash exploded
off of each scout and merged with the Silver Crystal. It exploded with
light, causing Traquen to shield his eyes and stop firing his dark beams.
He cowered down, as light streamed at him from every direction.
"That will not stop me, fools!!
I am more powerful then all your powers combined!" wailed Traquen, just
as Tuxedo Moogle shouted over him.
"We call upon the powers of Love
and Justice.... give us strength! CELESTIAL CRYSTAL HEALING....ACTAVATION!"
screamed Moogle as the light that was pounding Traquen from the crystal
and the scouts suddenly exploded and began to stream down along with sparkling
energy. As soon as the new energy hit Traquen, he arched his back and let
out an ear-deafing, evil scream of horror. Everyone grimaced as the sound
filled the air. Traquen slowly straightened up and opened his eyes. They
were still glowing red.
"More! More! He's still going!!
We need more!" shouted Moogle over the screaming and sound of the energy.
Along with the energy, the winds had picked up into a hurricane-like force
and blew upon the group.
Moments later, a hand grabbed
on to both of Tuxedo Moogle's raised hands. Two DIFFERENT hands. Tuxedo
Moogle opened his eyes and looked, surprised. On his right stood a shaky
Serena, with a small smile on her face and a look of determination in her
eyes. As she touched his hand, the crystal reacted by releasing more energy.
She grimaced slightly, continuing to feed her energy to the crystal. She
instantly re-transformed into Sailor Moon. Moogle smiled and quickly turned
to his left to see who had grabbed his other hand. He was shocked to see
the woman. She slowly turned, looked at him, smiled knowingly, and shouted.
"LIGHT ENERGY... ELECTRIFY!!"
screamed the woman, as Tuxedo Moogle's jaw dropped open slightly. As she
spoke, she and the crystal flashed with a bluish-gray light, and the crystal
flared outward in a tremendous blast of white energy one more time. The
pulse of energy slammed into Traquen, breaking through his remaining resistance
and bringing him to his knees. He gave one more shout, and became rigid.
His eyes grew wide, and stopped glowing red. He closed his eyes, and collapsed
to the pavement.
As soon as Traquen collapsed,
Tuxedo Moogle broke off the attack and collapsed himself. All the energy
disappeared, and the wind died. Even as he was falling, the group was running
to him. They reached him just in time to hear him say to Serena:
"I... I did it... for you."
He dropped the crystal and reverted
back to normal, smiling
He closed his eyes and passed
out.
****
"Artemis! Luna! Your back!"
The two cats were instantly surrounded
by the entire group. The cats had arrived an hour before the group returned
to Serena's, carrying an unconscious Matt and Joshua, and having an extra
member.
The group quickly filled in the
cats on the events that took place a little less than an hour before. After
explaining what happened, the attention turned to Luna and Artemis.
"So... where have you to been?
Hmmm?" said Mina with a sly look on her face. The group was sitting in
Serena's living room, minus Matt and Josh, who were upstairs recovering.
"Yeah... what have you two been
up too?" chimed in Rei as she also got a wicked look on her face.
"Oh, Oh! Nothing! I just went
to think, and Artemis, being as nosy as he is, followed me. That's all."
Luna quickly spoke up, seeing where the conversation might lead to.
"Uh-huh..." whispered Mina as
she exchanged knowing glances with the rest of the group. They all had
the same thing on their minds.
"Anyways... there are more important
things to think about then where me and Artemis were. Like, what now? And...
who is this new guest among us?" Luna said, changing the subject. As she
finished, they all turned to the mysterious woman who Matt had found.
"Well... I suppose I should tell
you some of it now. Now that I can. My name is Philly." the woman spoke
up quietly as she shifted uncomfortably under all the stares she was receiving.
"I am on a mission from Sailor Pluto. She told me that I shouldn't tell
you much, just that I am here to help you."
"Sailor Pluto? What? Why?" Luna
questioned.
"I-I can't tell you... she told
me I couldn't. All I can tell you is that I am suppose to help you." Philly
stated as she removed her rain poncho. Underneath, she was wearing a soaked
bluish-gray outfit.
"But... help us with what?"
Philly, instead of answering,
just looked up at the ceiling. She was looking up at the space where the
room that Joshua was in resided. The group picked up on her silent answer,
and quickly changed the subject.
"Why don't you get her some dry
clothes?" Rei asked sternly, looking at Serena.
"But... Why do I have too?" whined
Serena as she looked between the faces looking at her.
"Because it's your house, Serena!"
yelled Rei as her temper kicked in.
"Oh... right. Sorry. Come on,
Philly.... let's go get you some clothes!" said Serena as she bolted from
her seat and grabbed Philly's hand. Before Philly could utter a word, she
was being flung up the stairs by the speeding Serena. The group looked
on and gave a huge sigh.
"Out for an hour, and she's still
hyper!" comment Lita as he sighed again and smiled. Slowly, her smile disappeared
as Artemis spoke.
"Now... what about Joshua?" inquired
Artemis. The mention of Joshua caused the whole mood of the room to darken.
Slowly, Luna spoke up.
"Well... he's suffering from an
good side, the Joshua I know, and an evil presence, Traquen. What if we
were to increase the power of good-side of him. That might just be the
way to destroy the evil side. From what Philly said, Joshua is still constantly
fighting Traquen even when he is not in control. What if we turned the
tables on that struggle?"
"That sounds like a great idea,
Luna. One problem... how do we do that?" Lita questioned as she looked
around. Luna didn't have an answer for her.
"I wish we had Ami here... She
would know a way..." quietly commented Mina as she looked around. The mention
of Ami didn't help the mood any.
"Wait. I have an idea." said Luna
finally, as she rose to her feet. With a quick crouch and a jump, she pulled
a back-flip and caused something to appear in the trail of her leap, in
a flash of sparkling light. It crashed to the table, in front of the stunned
group.
It was a transformation pen.
Suddenly, Artemis realized what
Luna was thinking. He smiled and wished he had thought of it.
"I get it! We are going to help
the good-side of King Joshua with the pen. Using the pen, he could energize
the good in him, whenever he was fighting the dark-side for control! Incredible,
Luna."
The rest of the group joined in
the compliments, causing Luna to blush. She spoke again, a hint of hope
in her voice.
"Now...all we have to do is wait
for him to wake."
****
"Wait... I do not think I heard
you right. You want me to do what?"
"We want you to use the pen and
transform. We think it might help." said Luna as she gazed at Joshua, who
was sitting in the bed.
It had been a day and a half since
the discussion in Serena's living room. After that discussion, Matt had
awakened, and had been informed of what the plan was for Joshua. They also
informed him about Philly., who, in the past day and a half, had taken
up welcome residence in Serena's home. Though the group had millions of
questions for her, they knew better. They knew that if they found out too
much, they might screw up the time-line or something like that, since Pluto
was involved. But, that still didn't stop them from wondering.
Then, 30 minutes ago, Joshua had
awakened. He said that he had no memory of what had happened the previous
night, and could barely believe some of the things he did. His last recollection
was of going to bed that night, and waking up now.
After the group filled him in
on what had transpired, they told him their plan.
"I do not know... are you sure
it will work?" Joshua questioned as he stood up and stretched. He got some
interesting looks from Lita, Rei, Mina, and Luna. He saw them and stopped
quickly, blushing slightly. He turned his attention back to Luna.
"No, but it is our only solution.
It's the only thing we could think of that would help you." Luna said,
hope in her voice.
"Ok... I can try." said Joshua
as he picked up the pen, it was a perfect fit in his hand. He felt it and
felt its weight and mumbled in aprovement.
"Now what should I do?"
"Hold it up, and say 'Sailor Transformation.'"
Luna replied, wondering if it was really going to work. It was a long shot...
but they had to try.
"Ok... I will try it." said Joshua
as he took a deep breath and raised the pen above his head and shouted,
"SAILOR.....TRANSFORMATION!!"
As soon as Joshua finished speaking,
the pen he held exploded with a dark green light. He was instantly engulfed
by it, as a huge gust of wind began to throw all the small, loose objects
in the room around. The group took cover as the green light blasted from
every corner. Suddenly, as quickly as it had begun, it faded. The green
light disappeared, and the group slowly looked up to see what had happened.
Joshua was standing there, but
he was no longer in the same dark clothes he had been wearing. He was dressed
in dark green partial-armor. It was a plastic-like breast plate, and back
piece. The rest of him was covered in a loose-fitting, dark green outfit.
The transformation pen that Joshua
had held, had transformed into a long, carved staff with a large, metal
crescent moon at the end. Joshua's white hair was slowly blowing back in
a wind that only he could feel. The staff's crescent moon end slowly began
to glow with a soft, green light as a double-helix-like sign appeared on
his forehead.
It was the sign of Io.
Joshua slowly opened his eyes,
and looked toward the group.
"I am..." whisper Joshua, pausing.
"Sailor Io."
"I think things just got a whole
lot more complicated..." Matt said as he continued to stare at Joshua.
"How do you feel... Joshua?"
Sailor Io looked at him intensely
as a small smile came over his face. The girls recoiled slightly in surprise,
as Sailor Io spoke out calmly.
"I remember..." said Sailor Io,
looking at each of the people looking back at him. His eyes finally came
to a rest on Luna's. "I can remember my past again."
*** The End ***
