Anubis: the second chance part 3: battle to the northern continent a Ronin warriors/Slayers crossover fic by Anubis3k ===================================================================== ===================================================================== The group had reached the arena and they all had passed their first two matches with ease. luckily, none of them were scheduled to fight any of the other groups from their main group. it was now Anubis and Filia's third match. they had been paired up against a werewolf and a healer. the match was going nowhere fast as the two kept attacking the werewolf and the healer kept doing her job. the turning point was when Filia caught wind of this, turned into a dragon and knocked the annoying little healer into the wall with her tail. of course, the werewolf forefited, as did the pair's next match seeing the transformation. By the end of the day it was the final match with Filia and Anubis facing off against a powerful mage and his twin brother master swordsman... ===================================================================== "Filia-san, i don't much like this. it seems like all of our matches have been way too easy for a real tournament." "You're right. something just dosen't feel right about this one. do you think these are the "trump cards" we've been hearing about?" "I wouldn't doubt it. There's a good chance that if we want to win this one, i'm going to have to put on my armor. which one will you take?" "I'll try the mage. he seems to have a weakspot for fire." she grinned "and of course me being a dragon..." Anubis nodded. "sounds reasonable. and unless that swordsman has a copy of Gourry's sword of light, I doubt he can beat me." ===================================================================== this match started diffrent from the others. the fighters paired off, choosing an opponent each and starting one on one, Anubis and the swordsman took their positions... "so, may i ask who this is that i am about to best?" the cocky swordsman grinned. "Most certainly, I am Anubis..." his armor appeared on him, his kusari-gama in hand. "...the former dark warlord of cruelty. and what about you, oh certain one?" "Thoron of the island of valradia" and with that, they began trading blows. neither really gaining any ground until Anubis trapped Thoron's weapon arm with the chained end of his kusari-gama. he pulled him forward and gave him a hard right to the face, breaking his nose and knocking him down for the count. Anubis brushed off his hands and turned to Fila and the mage. "tis your turn." the mage waved a finger. "now now, why don't we make this interesting. i'll take the both of you on" the mage grinned. "so, you're the real reason why your team had always won?" Filia questioned. "tis true. but they changed the rules this year so that the last matches of the day were one on one. however, i can waver that at this point just to make this interesting." Anubis whispered to Filia quietly. "this one's bad news. there's a weird bloody air hovering around him." "you've sensed it too? it's strange... "she began thinking to herself. "well, either way, this is the last match we have to fight. after this, we can just go to sleep and wait till morning for the ship to come in." He smiled. "and it's a good thing too, because i'm getting tired" Filia said as she yawned. "are you two quite done yet, or are you going to forefeit?" "us? never. let's go!" Anubis summoned his armor again and Filia changed into her dragon form. it seemed as though nothing could even touch the mage, and then he began to struggle. his sheild had been weakening. "inconceivable! my sheild's always help up! ARRGH!!!" he screamed and began running around as Filia's dragon breath peirced his sheild finally. "oh no you don't! QUAKE WITH FEAR!!!!" the clawed end of anubis' kusari-gama tunneled into the earth, creating 40 red chains of energy which shot up from the ground and entangled the mage. he screamed in pain and passed out. Anubis sighed and stretched. "well, that's that." "yeah. boy that was easy. and the others did real well, too. i think the boat's supposed to be leaving about noon tomorrow. we should eat and rest up." Anubis nodded and smiled. "i would enjoy it. by the way, do you have any knowledge about what is on the northern continent?" he asked as they walked to the food hall. "well, supposedly there are many ruins from ancient civilizations. and also there was supposed to have been another race of dragons that lived there that just suddenly dissappeared. they were among the golden dragons' greatest allies. i think they called themselves "solarians". they were as noble a race as you could find... something wrong Anubis-san?" she asked as she saw the strange look on his face. "well, it could be just me, but it seems as though that name sounds familiar. as if the Ancient had heard it somewhere. maybe if we find one of the ruins they were legend to live at we could shed some light on this. most likely we will have time to visit one before Talpa can get much of a foothold into this world. at least a couple months." he finished as they sat down and began eating. ===================================================================== END PART 3
