Wassap I'm a 21year old white washed Filipino. And I just wanted to say that its nice to know that there are Myths and legends of our people still around. For some reason it never crossed my mind to look up my own peoples' myths and legends. It actual y was a big supprised when I came across it on a Internet search for Folk stories. I was like Greeks , Romans, Chinese and every other race and country have legends and myths, what legends and myths come come from the Philipines? ------------- Guess your site answers that. Well I'll be checking the site again soon when its updated. ummmm......"Live Long and Prosper" (sorry don't know any Klingon) NeOgEcKo.........

Dear Robin, Enjoying your website immensely. Still more to browse through. I am from northern California--a mestiza Pilipina born at the base of Mount Pinutubo, transplanted in Amerika. Culture, tradition, storytelling are of great interest to me. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with folks like me who want to know more about Pilipino identity. I am interested in Ilocano origin stories. Can you lead me to any? Again, much appreciation for your work. In spirit, Ashlynn

Your site was God sent. My 12 year old son asked me this late 9:00pm Chicago time if I know of any Philipine folklore or legend that he need to share in class tomorrow. I told him of Malakas and Maganda but I cannot remember the whole story, I'm 40 you now. My husband who's also a Filipino can't remember anything to share. We borrowed a book about Pedro and the monkey when my child was in first grade and we both can't recall the whole story either. So when I search the Philippine web page and got your site, I was elated. We printed Maria Makiling and the Origin of Rice. Thank you so much. I will surely visit your page alot as I have two other children ages 10 and 8. I would like all of them to know our rich cultural and literary heritage and be prou of it. Again, you are awesome to have a deep interest in our heritage and share it with others. More power, and God bless!

I lived one of the most memorable years of my life on Mactan Island. I have always loved the people I met there and have such wonderful memories of my experiences. I was in the first group of USAF to come there and build the base at Mactan in 1965. I ha the "pleasure" of paying for the repairs to Mayor Mariano Dimataga's car. (Long story - group of GIs out in an unauthorized vehicle that accidently creased the fender of the mayor's car). Thanks for refreshing the great memories and your page.

Can you recommend any books on 16th century Philippine History (especially about Lapulapu and Humabon)? I'm writ ng a novel of historical fiction (hopefully w/lots of mythology and the supernatural weaved in) and this info would really help. Many thanks, Mary Grace Bertulfo P.S. Your definition of the "mananangal" as a headless being i believed is erroneous. From the stories that my elder family told me this being flies at night with only half its body (head to stomach) usinh wings that are similar to bats, while leaving the other half of its body behind. Legend has it that if you pour salt on the other half of the body the mananangal cannot get back to it anymore and when daybreak comes the being would die when sunlight shine upon it. That is the reason why before it separates fro its other half they make sure that it is properly concealed among bushes so that it cannot be sabotage! Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.

I would like to thank you for having this site. You see, I was able to research on my assignment in my History class. Thanks a lot! This one is a big help. I didn't know that "Gregorio del Pilar" is on the Net already. You sure have a beautiful homepage. I hope you could give me some tips on HTML. I guess that wil be all for now! Take care & Good luck! A friend, 'Femme Fatale"

OK. Salamat.
