The History of Second
Impact: In the year 2000, a meteorite hit the Polar Ice Cap in Antarctica. The resulting
explosion melted the ice cap, raising the global water level, and flooding all coastal
cities. After this apocalyptic event, many wars began and when it was all over, about half
of the Earth's previous population had perished. The truth about the Second Impact: The year AD 2000. A research team has made an astounding discovery in Antarctica. The team had found the "Angel" (Shito in Japanese), Adam, the first Angel. Adam was in a dormant state, until the research team tried to revert Adam to an embryonic state. For unknown reasons, Adam exploded, causing the Antarctic Ice cap to melt and flood the world. The concrete figures to the extent of the devastation due to the Second Impact is not yet known, however, this was one of the reasons that the United Nations created NERV. This special strategic defense force was instituted to prevent a possible Third Impact.
