   BLAAAT... BLAAAT... BLAAAT...

   The alarm...

An arm reach out from under the covers and switched it off, then
went back under and it's owner fell back into a blissful slumber...

Only a few seconds later, the door burst open, a too-loud voice
calling out. "Kakou!! Wake up!!" It yelled. A mumbled retort came from
under the covers.

"I said get up! Come on! YOU'RE GONNA BE LATE!!" The redheaded
girl at the door yelled.

Another girl, with a long white braid sat up. "Shut up, Hikaru-chan!
I'm getting up!"

"You'd better! We have work to do today!"

"I KNOW THAT! We have work everyday!!" Kakou, the white-haired girl
yelled back.

Before it could get out of hand, a guy with jet-black hair walked
in. "Kakou! Hikaru! Stop yelling! You'll wake the whole building." He
scolded.

"YUUSHOU!! MAKE HER STOP YELLING AT ME!!" The other two yelled
at the same time.

A large sweatdrop ran down his skull. "P-please... you two... let's
stop fighting..."

********************

The scene played in a crystal ball before fading out.

The crystal ball sat on a golden stand, which was in a golden
palace.

In front of it was a golden throne, in which sat a very young
looking girl with golden hair and eyes, wearing a long golden dress.

"Ah... Yuushou... Look at you now, only a shadow of what you once
were. Let Electra take care of that."

********************

Meanwhile, Tsukino Yukiko was walking to school, alone again.

"Why am I always alone?" She wondered. "I always end up walking by
myself."

She stopped and sighed. Everything was wet from yesterday's rain,
making her depressed. "At least it's not sunny. That would be really
depressing..."

She shrieked as a car rushed by, spraying mud all over her uniform.

"Hey! Watch it!!" She yelled, shaking her fist at the car.
Her only answer was a weird, insane laugh coming from the small red
sports car. "Oh! I can't believe this! I don't have time to go home and
change!"

********************

Later, Yuushou, Hikaru, and Kakou were at school, taking an exam.
Kakou sighed at the paper. I should have studied more... She thought as
she drew a blank for the next question.

She looked at the other two, who were hard at work. Hikaru was
sitting next to her, so she leaned over and whispered.

"Yo... Hikaru... What's the answer to number 7?"

Hikaru looked back at her and glared. "You should have studied
instead of watching anime, Kakou."

Kakou's eyes widened and a gong sounded in the background as the
words "No way!" appeared behind her. "Hikaru... Then that means...
You don't know the answer, either?"

Hikaru forgot herself and yelled. "That's not it, Kakou!! It's
something more!!"

"Miss Kikuno! We're in the middle of class!" The teacher scolded
Hikaru.

"R-right! I'm sorry!" Hikaru apologized. She glared at Kakou for
getting her in trouble and the went back to the exam.

Kakou sighed. She looked across the room at Yuushou, but he was too
far away. she turned back to the desk.

Still, the answer didn't come. She took a deep breath and closed her
eyes, folding her hands, and started to pray quietly.

   "God of truth,
God of life.
God of peace,
God of night.
God of love,
And the rest,
I ask you for
The answer to this test!"

Her prayer finished and her faith soaring, wrote the first thing
that popped into her mind...

********************

Yukiko sighed. A bad day as always. She had been scolded for the
state of her uniform and her concentration had been broken by some twit
in class, Niichi Kakou, who had broken her concentration by talking
constantly to herself and the girl next to her.

The mud she had been sprayed with had started to smell terrible, she
could hardly stand to be around herself! When she had tried to rinse it
off it had refused, even on her skin.

She changed her shoes and left the building. She was walking home
alone again...

********************

   "WHAT???!!! 32?! I couldn't have gotten such a low score!! I was
studying all night!!" Hikari yelled later.

"Come on, calm down..." Yuushou said, sweatdropping. "It was a hard
test.. I only got a--" He stopped himself.

"What? WHAT DID YOU GET??!!" Hikaru yelled, grabbing him by the
shoulders and shaking hard.

   "It, it's not important!"

   "TELL ME!!" Hikaru roared.

Yuushou let out a small eep. "It's not that great... just a
94..."

   Silence.

   Yuushou cowered in it.

   "Hikaru...?" He asked uncertainly.

"I... I..." She burst into tears. "It's not fair!! I studied so
hard!!!" She wailed mournfully.

Kakou looked at her smugly. "32? Boy, I'm really glad I didn't get
an answer from you after all!"

Hikaru glared at her, recovered. "Yeah, well, what did YOU get, Miss
Yu Yu Hakusho?"

"Um... Well, I haven't looked yet."

   The other two sweatdropped.

   "What...?" They said in unison.

"But it's a good score! I know because I prayed about it." Kakou
explained.

"Then look! Let's see what you got!" Hikaru said.

"Okay, fine!" Kakou confidently took out her paper. She face vaulted
when she saw it. "Um... Okay, so my score isn't that important... let's
go for ice cream!" She suggested, attempting to change the subject.

"No way! Let me see that!" Hikaru shouted and ripped it out of
Kakou's hands.

   "No, stop!!" Kakou shouted.

A gong sounded as the words "No way!" appeared behind her. She was
silent.

"What? Can it be that bad?" Yuushou walked over to see. A giant
sweatdrop ran down his skull. "Impossible..."

The score was 5. Kakou got only one question right.

"Give that back!" Kakou yelled, grabbed her paper away.

Her two friends recovered. "Kakou, careful! That's proof of the
impossible!" Hikaru snickered.

"Looks like your prayers didn't work, after all..." Yuushou said.

Kakou tossed her hair and stuck her nose in the air as she turned
her back on them. "What do you mean? Number seven is the one I prayed
for. I knew all the rest, the teacher changed the answers just to get
on my nerves."

Behind her, Yuushou and Hikaru fell over with giant sweatdrops as
the gong sounded and the words "No way!" appeared behind them.

********************

Later, at the ice-cream place, the three friends were sitting at a
table.

"We're sorry, Kakou-chan. We shouldn't have reacted that way when we
found out your score." Yuushou apologized.

"It's okay!" Kakou chirped. "I know."

"Shh!" Hikaru said. "Keep your voice down!"

"You're the one yelling!" Kakou protested.

Fortunately, the waitress came up to their table before anything
physical could happen. "And what would you three like?"

"Double brownie sundae with whipped cream and extra cherries!" Kakou
chirped.

"Yum, make that two!" Yuushou agreed.

Hikaru rolled her eyes. "You two are gonna get soo fat. I'll have a
cherry cola float."

"All right, I'll be right back with your order!" The waitress left.

   "Hikaru..."

"Yeah?" Hikaru looked up. "eep..." It was a small squeak, and rather
pitiful.

Kakou was towering over her, glaring. "You had better take that fat
remark back..."

   Hikaru cowered. "Y-yes! Sorry!!"

Kakou sat down again. "That's better! Where's my sundae? I'm
hungry!"

   The other two sweatdropped...

********************

On the way back to their apartment, the three talked and laughed and
gossiped.

"...So then he said, 'Whatever you do, don't sell that movie
contract!'" Hikaru finished a joke she had heard.

They all bust into giggles and laughter.

"That was so funny, Hikaru!" Kakou praised. "But I bet I can
make you laugh even harder!"

Before she could start, she heard a scream. Not with her ears, with
her soul. She gasped. "Hikaru... Yuushou..."

The two nodded. They had heard it, two...

"I think it came from the alley over there... let's go!" Yuushou
said.

He ran to it, the girls at his heels.

He stopped at the corner of a building, holding up a hand to warn
the others not to go any further.

"What is it, Yuushou?" Hikaru asked in a hushed voice.

"It's an Akurei, attacking a girl. That thing is vile..."

"What are we waiting for? Let's go." Hikaru said.

"No, wait! there are to many people to do it here. Let's go into
this building, I think it's condemned. We can attack from the fire
escape." Kakou said.

"Good idea." Hikaru nodded. This was one thing they knew not to
fight about.

   "Let's do it!" Yuushou agreed.

********************

In the golden palace, Electra laughed. It was a soft, amazingly
sweet laugh, like a child's. "Oh, Yuushou. Little do you know of the
web you're weaving for Electra..."

********************

Yukiko tried to scream, but it got caught in her throat. The thing
that was attacking her was far too much for her to handle. It had
formed from the mud on her clothes... But she was screaming on the
inside, praying for someone to help her...

"Hold it!" The shout was clear and strong. She hoped the person
could help her...

Yukiko wondered where it was coming from.

As if in answer, three figures jumped down from the fire escape.

The monster that held her panicked and knocked her unconscious...
all went black...

********************

Kakou glared at the Akurei. She had changed, her long white braid
becoming different shades of red and yellow. The different colors moved
and swirled. She was wearing strange, red armor and a cape that
looked like fire. Her eyes had turned from green to dark red.

"So, you like picking on people, tough guy?" Hikaru said, stand back
with her arms folded. She, too, had changed. Her red hair was now
golden blond, it seemed to shine. Her emerald eyes had become brighter,
they also seemed to shine. She wore white armor, identical to Kakou's
except it had different trimming. She also wore a cape that split in
the middle, it looked like angel wings.

"Well, bring it on..." Yuushou said, his voice cold. He was wearing
a long, black cape in the shape of gargoyle wings and black armor, long
pants and a long sleeved shirt with a cloth sash around his waist. It
was cloth underneath and it had tiny chain mail links made of
shining black metal. He also had thin black sword.

The Akurei paused, not sure what to do, then charged at the three
with it's own sword.

   Yuushou yelled and charged, too.

When the Akurei and the man met, there was a flash of light.

When it died down, they were in a deadlock, grunting and trying to
overcome each other.

   "Men..." Hikaru said.

"Tell me about it..." Kakou said, rolling her eyes. She knew what
Hikaru meant.

They looked at each other and nodded, forming a plan between
themselves.

"Boya blast!" Kakou yelled, starting a small fire.

In the second the Akurei was distracted, Hikaru leapt up and landed
behind the Akurei. She winked at Yuushou, who seemed to understand.

"Shining Laser...!" Hikaru said, just as Yuushou ducked and rolled
backwards. The Akurei was defeated in a burst of white light.

   Kakou, meanwhile, picked up Yukiko.

People who saw the white light started to wander in. They gasped at
the three figures who had retreated to the shadows, one of which was
holding a girl...

********************

Electra laughed again in her golden throne. "Excellent! Yuushou, you
are very strong to go into deadlock with an Akurei that would kill
average people. However, you are not strong as you were nor shall be.
Electra shall take care of that..."

********************

Yuushou, Kakou, and Hikaru, back in their ordinary forms, brought
Yukiko to their apartment.

"She seems okay, just got hit a little too hard..." Yuushou said
softly, as not to disturb the girl in his arms.

"I'm just glad we got away from all those people!" Kakou said. "I
really didn't want to explain all of that!"

"That's because you have a hard time explaining anything!" Hikaru
accused.

   "I do not!"

"Shh! You'll wake her up!" Yuushou commanded. "Now, help me get her
to bed."

The girls looked at each other.

   "What is it?" Yuushou asked.

"Um, where is she going to sleep?" Hikaru managed.

"Not in my bed! Nobody seeps there but me!" Kakou said. The other
two sweatdropped.

"Well..." Yuushou said, still sweatdropping, "I thought she might
stay in my room..."

   "EWWW!!" The two girls yelled.

"WHAT???!!!" Yuushou said, face vaulting. "I didn't mean...!!"

Hikaru rolled her eyes. "Well, you know we have to put her
somewhere! There's no telling when she will wake up, an hour or a day,
so she can't stay on the couch..."

"Not in my bed!" Kakou said, defending her privacy again.

"Well, mine would OBVIOUSLY be gross!" Yuushou said.

They looked at each other. Evil looks slowly came over their faces,
which they turned to Hikaru, who was still puzzling over the sleeping
girl.

"Did you notice the mud on her uniform? Maybe we should clean her
up."

   Silence.

Hikaru noticed her two friend's silence and looked up.

"What? Um, why are you looking like that? ...Yuushou?
Kakou? STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT!!"

********************

Yukiko groaned as she came to, her eyes still closed. Why was she
asleep? Slowly, the events came back to her.

It must have been a dream... She was in her bed, after all.

She yawned and sat up, stretching, as she opened her eyes. She
gasped. Where was she? This wasn't her room! She realized she was in
her underwear and pulled the covers to her chest, blushing despite the
fact that she was alone.

It was real, then? That was so weird... things like this didn't
happen to Tsukino Yukiko, they happened to other people. People who
weren't losers.

That voice... had someone really wanted to help her?

She looked around. The room was decorated in delicate pinks and
whites, stereotypically girl. She wondered if this was a girl's room or
some sick-o guy's.

She saw a clock, which told her it was three-forty two PM. She
gasped. What?! THREE FORTY-TWO?! She had left school at four-thirty!!
If that clock wasn't low, she was going to be in BIG trouble with her
family! And Reki would wonder where she was! She wished she was
dress so she could hurry back!

As if on cue, a girl with a long white braid came in. This must be
the owner of the room.

"Oh!" The girl said, "You're awake! Um, sorry about your clothes,
we had to wash them..."

Yukiko hugged the covers closer to her chest. "Oh..." she said
shyly.

"Um, how are you feeling? You got hit pretty hard yesterday..."

"I'm okay..." Yukiko said, her voice hardly a whisper.

"Oh!" The girl knocked on her head, grinning. "Sorry! I haven't
introduced myself! I'm Niichi Kakou. You can call me Kakou."

"Niichi Kakou? Oh... I'm Tsukino Yukiko. Um, are we in the same
class?"

"Um... I think we are! Hey, neat! That means we're like friends
already! Um, I'll get some clothes for you. I hope they fit, you look
like you're my size. I'll be right back, don't go anywhere." She
giggled and left.

Yukiko tilted her head. "Friends...?" She asked softly. "We are?"
She smiled. Maybe Kakou wasn't as bad as she thought...

********************

Kakou went into the living room before she got some clothes.
"Hikaru! Yuushou!" she called. "Guess what? Our guest woke up!
And she's Tsukino Yukiko! From our class at school, remember?"

"Of course we remember her, Kakou! The teacher just announced
her disappearance today!" Hikaru snapped. Kakou stuck her tongue out
at her.

"Kakou, get her some clothes. I'll make some food..." Yuushou said,
exasperated.

   "Okay!" Kakou replied.

********************

Yukiko shyly waked out of Hikaru's room a little while later. She
was wearing a lovely dark blue sundress with a flared skirt. Her
waist-length dark brown hair was in a ponytail that looked wonderfully
delicious against the deep color of the fabric.

Yuushou looked up from his place on the couch. "Hello, Yukiko!
How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay..." She sat down on another couch. "You have a very big
apartment."

"Hikaru, Kakou and I sing. We call ourselves 'Spirits Three.'"

Yukiko gaped at him. "What? You guys are them?! But your names are
different!" She didn't feel quiet as shy now, for some reason.

Yuushou chuckled. "Those are fake names. These are our real names."

"Wow... You do look a lot like them..." Yukiko said quietly, shy
again and a bit embarrassed at what she had said.

"Strangely, no one notices. That's why we changed our names.
Surprisingly, most people don't put two and two together-or, in our
case, three and three-and we don't want to get mobbed." Yuushou
explained. "So, are you hungry? I made some noodles..."

"Yes, that would be great!" Yukiko said.

"All right, let's go eat, then!" Yuushou said.

The two went into the kitchen to eat.

*******************

   Kakou: Fire light
   Hikaru: To shine
   Yuushou: Beautiful scenery
Tsukino Yukiko: Snow Child of the Moon
The names in this story are written in Japanese form, since it takes
place in Tokyo. The form is family name first, baptismal name second.
So, if your name is Jane Smith, in Japan you would say it "Smith Jane",
unless you were from a foreign country that does it like us or an idol.
Then, it's just like here. The reason that Yuushou and the others say
their names in the Japanese form is because they don't want anyne to
know they're idols. Get it?
