Pastel first met Zed in a computer date set up by Stacy (hence the incompatibility). They weren't really a romantic match at all. Pastel writes poetry and tends to remain rather serious and calm. Their differences however lend itself to an interesting friendship. Pastel and Zed often have serious, analytical discussions about unusual things. For example, on their date they discuss poetic symbolism in cartoons or the lack thereof, particularly in Road Runner. She has found a kindred spirit in Nastia who has the same distaste and confusion about human behavior. Zed and Nastia often ask Pastel for advice. She doesn't understand why. She has absolutely no talent in that area and her advice often hurts more than helps. Pastel recites her tragic poetry at Joe's Java Jungle Cafe. Her work is actually pretty rediculous, but it keeps the customers happy. The serious person that she is, she is very easily flustered by her quick-witted comedian twin brother Jon. Zed is trying to teach her how to come up with snappy comebacks. Pastel was born without the muscle in her face fequired to smile. She doesn't want corrective surgery, however. She figures that if she were born that way, it must have been for a reason. |
