Oscar and Princess Diana

Have you ever noticed any similarity between Oscar and Princess Diana?

They are both incredibly beautiful and have a great figure like that of a model...
No, no, no, the similarities in appearances are not what I wanted to elaborate on here.

I wanted to discuss a couple of inner similarities between Oscar and Princess Diana.

First of all, they both took action from a humanitarian standpoint.

Oscar, who was a noble at the very top of French society, showed passion for justice and compassion for poverty endured by the underprivileged.

Princess Diana also took a very charitable view of the disadvantaged.

What is indelibly etched into my memory is the sight of Princess Diana treading the streets with her sons to show them the plight of the poor.
I assume that she did not want her sons, who were to carry the future of the country on their shoulders, to turn a blind eye to the poverty-stricken commoners.
(Gee, if Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI had been raised in this manner, the French Revolution would not have broken out !)

Princess Diana was too compassionate to turn a blind eye to the disadvantaged.

My impression is that her action came not just from the fact that she was a warm-hearted woman.
I believe that something else also drove her to take that action.

That "something else" is another similarity between Oscar and Princess Diana.

Another similarity between them that I have in mind is loneliness.

Oscar, who was raised as a boy, seemed to have no female friends.
And as for her male friends...Well, you know that part all too well.

As for Princess Diana, I assume that very few in the Royal Family had ever experienced that much loneliness. (I am no expert in the Royal Family, so I cannot say this for sure.)

Even her husband did not take her side, not to mention her mother-in-law!
I assume from what I heard that this fact resulted in her eating disorder.
My impression is that this drove her to lend a helping hand to the underprivileged.

It is the following words uttered by her that gave me the above idea:
"I am not healing their sorrows; they are the ones who are healing my sorrows."

And the following words uttered by Mother Teresa are also imprinted on my mind:
"Unless you have a wounded heart, you cannot help those who are hurt."
(Note that the above words are not the exact words uttered by them but are my translation.)

I have seen Princess Diana being interviewed on TV a couple of times, and I remember that she had a worn-out look on her face.
That was reminiscent of Oscar, who also had a great deal of suffering.

Both Princess Diana and Oscar were among the most socially powerful women, and therefore they could not appear fragile in public.
I guess this kept them from releasing their pent-up sorrows and anguish.

Both of these women may seem like the envy of all, but I believe they were engulfed by grief all along.
(It was not until I was grown-up that I realized Oscar was that kind of a woman.)

I have this feeling that both Oscar and Princess Diana were at great pains to find something that would soothe their minds.

Oscar and Princess Diana, may you rest in peace...
