Advice: The Pidgeys near Pallet are the easiest to catch, plus they're at a low level. If you get one here, raise it up to the level of the rest of your Pokemon every so often. They're great in battle when they're of a high enough level.

Advice: These are troublesome to catch because most are strong enough to use Whirlwind to break up the battle. Your best bet is to find a Pidgey at a low level and then just defeat these Pidgeyottos.

HMs: 02
Advice: This is one really tough Pokemon. The first you'll encounter without diverging too heavily from your path through the Seafoam Islands. If you want to battle it, you'll need an incredibly powerful Ice or Fire Pokemon to challenge it. Even then, get a lot of healing potions. Another hint I got was that if you catch the Zapdos, you can use that to lower Articuno's HP, but I haven't tried it.

HMs: 02, 05
Advice: Get a Graveler or Golem at Level 35-37 and make sure it knows 'Harden' and not just 'Defensive Curl'. Maximize the rock Pokemon's defense with Harden and then slowly use weak techniques to lower the Zapdos's hit points. Then, catch it. If you don't want to go for capture (i.e. you've traded for a Zapdos) then use Rock Slide and other devastating techniques.

Moltres

Type: Fire/Flying

HMs: 02
Advice: Despite being Level 50 like all of the other legendary birds, Moltres is the easiest to capture. The biggest problem you face is getting Burn Heal. Don't use a Water Pokemon, though. Choose another Fire Pokemon or maybe the Graveler/Golem you used on Zapdos. If you do go for the Graveler/Golem, raise it's levels to about 45 or so. But remember that you're trying to capture it, not defeat it.
