==========Pokemon HAHAHAHAHA!========== ==========By A-kun========== ==========Chapter 10: Pokemon Wars Part 1========== Anything between * and * is translated Pokemon speech. Anything between [ and ] is thought As various members of Team Rocket crawled into the ventilation shafts to enter the Silph Corporation building, a young man watched them through binoculars. "Where is he? He should be here." the young man growled. Suddenly, the sound of glass shattering caught the young man's attention. He looked up to see a Silph Co. scientist running and a familiar man chasing him on a Graveler. "HMPH! So Butch is here. That means Cassidy isn't far behind." the young man remarked glumly. He briefly scratched his head, mentally cursing the cheap prison shampoo. It wasn't as refined as he required. His scalp was quite delicate. He looked about, but there was no sign of his own two partners nor of Giovanni. Sighing, he decided that they had either been caught or they weren't coming here. That meant he was on his own. He looked at the pokeballs that he and his partner had. They were his now. He smiled. Maybe this wasn't so bad. "BUTCH! STOP MESSING AROUND AND HELP ME OUT HERE!" came the angry cry from Cassidy, who was busy battling a few Silph Co. scientists and their pokemon. The young man frowned. Butch and Cassidy were old enemies of his and it would serve them right to lose. Then, a truly evil thought came into mind. Why take the chance that they *might* lose when he could insure it by killing them. He threw a grappling hook up to the top of the building and missed, but the grappling hook snagged a flag pole. Taking whatever he could, the young man attached his pokeballs to his new sash and swung over to the building. He let a pokeball go, then swung back to the rooftop he had been on and ducked down. Butch and Cassidy both froze as they noticed what has just entered the room. The creature glared at them before getting angry. Butch and Cassidy knew what was going to happen. They ducked behind Butch's Graveler. An explosion engulfed the room Butch and Cassidy had been in and filled it with flames (as opposed to engulfing the room in whip cream or hot chocolate). James stood up and began laughing in his best evil laugh. "I'VE STILL GOT IT!" James laughed. "Sir, Butch and Cassidy have just been-" a young man began to report. "Killed? I can see that. That's what they get for screwing around on assignments. Have all new cadets avoid that area unless necessary. We don't want them freezing up on us." Giovanni replied. The leader of Team Rocket stared at the monitor that had displayed the explosion as the young man returned to his post. Giovanni grinned. "James, maybe you still have potential." Giovanni mused to himself. "It's a good thing we found this cafe." Ash said, his stomach rumbling noisely. The group was seated a large table at a cafe which had been along the trail. The cafe seemed large enough to be a full-class resturaunt, but it was still considered a cafe. Various students sat around, eating overpriced sandwiches or slurping up ramen. In the background, they heard a radio blaring out music. Suddenly, the radio's music changed a man's voice. "Okay, listen up, kiddies. I just got the news that Saffron City has been occupied by a buncha terrorists called the 'Rocket Gang' or somethin' or other. Anyway, this means no school for kids who are commuting. Police have sealed off the city and are refusing to let ANYONE in. Rumor has it that the Elite Four are dilberating whether or not they should interfere, but no official word on that. Already eighty two websites have been made concerning this late breaking news and eighteen hate sites have made their views of this situation quite clear." the radio DJ reported. "Gadzooks! This sounds like a job for-" Ben began as he stood up to his maximum height of 2 feet and 3 inches (yes, he's standing on his tail). "-someone else." Jessie replied. "Rocket Gang is Team Rocket." Ben said. "We've paid our debt to society." Jessie responded. "What if James is there? Or Giovanni?" Ben asked. "....." Jessie said. "Giovanni?" Brock inquired. "He's the leader of Team Rocket, of course." Jessie answered. "What?!" Brock and Misty demanded. "You seem surprised." Jessie said. "You bet we are. Giovanni vanished a long time ago. Fifteen years ago to be exact. There was rumor that he had been kidnapped, but there was no ransom, no threatening letters or anything. All of the other Gym Leaders back then got together with the police to try and find him, but they all came up with nothing." Brock explained. "Hmmm, but why would he turn to a life of crime?" Ash asked. "There would certainly be no limit to the number of challengers who would want to challenge him so they could get into the Pokemon League Tournament. It would get annoying after a while." Ben responded. "If Giovanni's really in Saffron City, I think it's up to us to stop him. Pokemon Gym Leaders are notoriously tough, no matter what and Giovanni's Pokemon would be first class." Brock announced. "Hmmm, he does have a Rhydon..." Jessie said. "Ha! I beat that with Pen-Pen!" Ben said, confidently. "I still don't know how you did that. Normally, that attack doesn't do much damage against a Rhydon." Jessie commented. "It doesn't?" Ben asked. "................" Jessie responded. "Well, let's eat first. No sense of fighting Giovanni on an empty stomach." Misty declared as their food arrived. Everyone pretty much agreed. Sabrina finally opened her eyes and looked at the pokemon standing in front of her. "Well?" Yamcha inquired. "They are coming. I'll bring them here myself if need be." Sabrina answered. The Machamp grumbled. It hated waiting, but the more they waited, the more training they could squeeze in before the counter-attack. He turned to his human disciples, who were keeping up with their own pokemon. "My team is almost ready. Is yours?" Yamcha inquired. "They will do fine." Sabrina answered softly. "Not quite ready, eh?" Yamcha asked. "As you would say, 'Hell No.'" Sabrina answered. Yamcha's look softened. "Training the mind is harder than training the body. The body follows the commands of the mind willingly, but the outside world is not so willing. Your people will do fine." Yamcha responded. "Thank you, Yamcha." Sabrina said, smiling at the Machamp. The giant pokemon blushed. ".... uh, you're welcome." Yamcha responded. "I must check on my disciples as well." Sabrina said, vanishing. [I just hope we can accomplish what's required.] Yamcha thought to himself. Giovanni grinned confidently as the report came back to him. Silph Co. was now under Team Rocket's control. The pokemon within was grinning even more confidently. Giovanni stood, turned and exited the command van. All that was left was to get the president of Silph Co. to command them to construct the Masterballs. The four figures stared at the T.V. screen. "Should we interfere?" inquired one. "Well, let's go anyway." another said. "No, let them solve it themselves." the fourth growled. "I wanna see some action." the first grumbled. "I believe we should not interfere. Let us see if anyone else can stop them." the third said. "Only one way to decide." the second declared. "Everyone ready?" the third inquired. The others nodded. "ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!" the four chanted. The fourth figure won with scissors. The group shot down the path, hurrying to Saffron City as fast as they could. When they were about a third of the way there, a girl about two years older than Misty appeared in front of them, halting the group. She had purple hair tied into two long ponytails and dark eyes. Her uniform was that of a sleeveless gi and she had black sweatpants. "You are heading to Saffron City?" the mystery girl inquired. "Yeah..." Ash began. "I can get you there much faster. If you'd like me to." the mystery girl responded. "Yes, please! We've got to stop Team Rocket." Ash said. "All right. Welcome to Saffron City." the mystery girl said. Before they could even blink, they found themselves in a large gym. Numerous fighting pokemon and humans were striking sand bags all around the room. In the center of the room, a large grey humanoid Pokemon was yelling at one of the other Pokemon about punching technique. Next to it was a girl with large black hair who was about as tall as Misty. The girl turned to the group, looking at them with her brown eyes. "Ah, these are our visitors. Thank you, Ruri." Sabrina said, walking over to the group. Ruri vanished as Misty and Brock stepped forward. "Sabrina, nice to meet you again." Misty said. "Ditto." Brock added. "I wish the circumstances were different. You no doubt heard of Saffron City's problem." Sabrina said. The group nodded. "Well, the way I estimate it, we'll need about a day or two to get the final preparations for a counter-attack." Sabrina said. "Counter-attack? You make it sound like this is a war." Ash said. "It is. A war to stop Giovanni." Jessie responded. "Why try and stop me?" Giovanni inquired, entering the room. Jessie, Meowth and Ben looked at him. He was a lot older than the Giovanni they had faced on Mt. Moon. And he had a rumpled white shirt and blue jeans on. The Giovanni Jessie knew had never been seen in anything less than a three-piece suit. "We contacted Giovanni a while ago. It seems he's been in the mountains, studying Pokemon for Professor Oak." Sabrina answered. "When I heard from Sabrina that there was someone impersonating me, I had to come back and clear my name. Heck, I'd been having so much fun over these years, I didn't even realize I had been gone for very long until I looked in a pond one day and noticed some grey hairs." Giovanni laughed loudly. Jessie fainted at the sight of Giovanni laughing in a non-evil fashion. Ben and Meowth blinked. "This is weird. So who's impersonating you?" Ben inquired. "I don't really know. I don't have any enemies that would bother doing something THAT drastic." Giovanni answered. "In any case, all of you have to train for the fight. We've got maybe three days before the fake Giovanni gets what he wants." Sabrina declared. "Three days?" Ash asked. "Yes. The imposter's goal is the creation of three Pokemon balls that are guarenteed to catch any pokemon." Sabrina answered. Ben grew silent. Such Pokeballs could only have a few Pokemon in mind. "You all must be tired. You may either rest in the meditation room or the parlor. Bathroom is in the parlor. However, I'd suggest working with your pokemon and working out yourselves. The next few days are going to be brutal." Yamcha told them, gesturing to the rooms. "I guess so." Shelly said, in a strangely unexcited manner. When most of the group had either left to eat or sleep, Ben found himself sitting in the gym, staring at his old pokedex. It was Jessie's now. Even if he wanted to claim it as his own, he couldn't hold it like he used to. His happy-go-lucky attitude had earned him a body that wasn't half as useful as Yamcha's or even Pikachu's. He sighed. "Something wrong?" Yamcha asked, noticing the tiny pokemon's state of depression. Ben turned to face him. "Oh, it's you." Ben turned back to his pokedex and sighed. Yamcha walked and sat down. "I asked you a question." Yamcha said. "It's just that I guess I'm finally in shock." Ben responded. "Shock? About what?" Yamcha asked. Ben explained to Yamcha how he came to be a pokemon. Yamcha seemed more than startled during the story, but at the end, he had a thoughtful look. "So, basically, you're finally coming to accept the fact that you're now a Pokemon." Yamcha said. "I've always had a rapport with Pokemon. I know they aren't dumb animals and I'll admit that I've had dreams of things like this happening, but I never actually thought it might one day happen," Ben said, his small shoulders sagging a bit, "and just when I start to have feelings for someone, too. I guess I feel miserable because I can't express my feelings." "You like that Jessie girl, right?" Yamcha inquired. Ben nodded slightly. "Hey, maybe one day you'll find a cure. Or maybe this Pokegod thingy-mabob'll learn how to change you back. Until then, express your feelings some other way. Do nice things and such." Yamcha answered. Ben looked up at the bigger pokemon "How do you know about this sort of thing?" Ben asked. "....." Yamcha answered. Ben stared at the Master of the Fighting Dojo. "Listen up, 'cause I ain't gonna repeat myself and this is a very painful story." Yamcha responded. Ben's ears raised so he could hear better. "A lot time ago, I was in love, just like you. She was a Machamp, a lot stronger and faster than me, but I showed her examples of my affection by teaching her to maximize her attacks and eventually, we got closer." Yamcha spoke. He continued, his voice cracking a bit and his eyes watering from the painful memory, "Too close. A wild Alakazam attacked our friends. We tried to fight it, but it's psychic power totally overwhelmed us. It gave me these scars and killed her...." Ben found himself in tears. The story didn't need to be long to be heart-wrenching. "What happened next?" Ben asked, sniffing a bit. "I trained for days, weeks, months even. Finally, I hunted down that evil Alakazam and killed it with my own bare hands as it had killed my love. After that, though, I began stumbling around. I felt I couldn't go on living. Just when I was about to follow my love into the afterlife, I saw a little Rattata getting picked on by a bunch of Geodudes. The Rattata didn't have any attacks strong enough to hurt them and they took great pleasure in beating the lone pokemon up. I sent them all packing. It was about then I met Sabrina. She was a psychic, but she wasn't evil like the Alakazam I had killed. She took me in and taught me how to speak so humans could understand me. I found out she lead a Pokemon Gym and I learned how the humans treated their pokemon. Some aren't very good to their pokemon, like Koga, the leader of the Fuschia Gym, but they don't mistreat their pokemon either. After learning all I could from Sabrina, I built my own gym right next to hers and began teaching what I knew." Yamcha finished. It was about then that Yamcha realized that he had merely intended to tell Ben how he had fallen in love, but it was so close to how he had wound up teaching the gym that the other tale just sort of got added on. "Uh, so, it's not impossible." Yamcha said, standing up. As Yamcha left, Ben wiped his eyes with his paw and looked at his old Pokedex again. It took him a while to recover from the sad tale, but once he thought about it, now wasn't the time to dwell on his own problems or on sad tales of lost love. Now was time for him to accept his body again and to learn what it could to. Bravely, he opened the pokedex and began reading how to perform all the Eevee's techniques. "Pika?" Pikachu asked, rubbing her eyes as she entered the Gym. A strange *paf**thump* noise was keeping her awake. Ben was standing in front of a punching bag. He raced up and hit it with his head, causing the *paf* noise, then he bounced off and hit the ground, causing the *thump* noise. "*What are you doing up this late?*" Pikachu inquired. "*I'm _trying_ to learn an effective tackle attack.*" Ben replied, rubbing his paw on his sore head. Pikachu stared at him blankly before walking over and staring at his Pokedex screen. "*You're trying to learn these techniques?*" Pikachu inquired. "*Yeah. I've got 'Bite', 'Tail Whip', 'Quick Attack' and the 'Sand Attack' down, even though getting sand was a real tough one, but I can't seem to learn 'Take Down' or 'Tackle'.*" Ben answered. "*Maybe physical attacks aren't your thing. Maybe you should get a... thingy. Um, what are they called.... a Technique Machine.*" Pikachu suggested. "*I don't need any of those. I've got all the data in here.*" Ben said, gesturing to Pokedex. "*Maybe you do, but you need to learn the technique from someone who actually knows the technique and how it would work for someone your size. Your Ivysaur, for one.*" Pikachu told him. "*...... I guess.*" Ben responded. "*Besides, have you ever considered the fact that maybe your body isn't designed for such things? Eevees have unusual genetics. Maybe you'd do better with speed attacks.*" Pikachu suggested. "*You think so? Well, let's try some.*" Ben said, turning his Pokedex off. "*Try to keep up with me.*" Pikachu said, winking at him as she began running. Ben ran hard to keep up, but it was obvious that the yellow pokemon had a great deal more of stamina. Then, he noticed sparks flying off of his body. Pikachu slowed down to race next to the Eevee. "*What's going on?*" Pikachu inquired. "*I'm not sure, I think it's a special technique.*" Ben answered. Then Pikachu yelped as her right rear leg was frozen solid. She tumbled to a stop as he found himself trying to stop and failing until a wall heroically jumped into his path. Okay, so the wall had been there all the time, but the point is that it stopped him. Everyone woke up at the sound of the loud *THUD**thump*. Ash was the first in and the first to notice Pikachu's frozen hind leg and the unconscious form of Ben's Eevee body laying with swirlies in his eyes. "Pikachu! What happened?!" Ash asked, moving to lift up his pokemon only to run into another spark. Suddenly his left hand burst into flames. Ash yelped and slapped his hand until the flames died. He had lost all the hair off the back of his hand and his fingernails look singed, but otherwise, his hand was fine. Which concerned everyone even more. "Don't touch those sparks." Misty warned. "Fox, find out what happened from Pikachu." Jessie said. After a long discussion, Fox related the information to everyone else. "Ben did that? While trying to match Pikachu's speed?" Ash asked. "No wonder Eevees never learn 'Agility'." Yamcha muttered. After about a minute, the sparks faded. The group decided to ignore the incident and go back to bed. They still had more training to attend to in the morning. =============================================================================================== Kind of a cliffhanger, kinda not.
