Your Name Is: Robyn Jennifer Wilsbach. Also known as Azzie (stemming originally from Lady Azurite) and Marquise Azzie online. Been that way for about five years. Some refer to me as Creon in person, from a large inside-joke. And you can't make many nicknames for Robyn. Believe me, I've tried.
… Though I'd be thrilled if, in the future, someone called me 'Bob'.
You Reside In: Palm Harbor, Florida.
You Were Born In: Manhattan, NY.
Your Birthday is: June 8th, 1984. That fateful day…
Current Height/Weight: 5'10", 132 lbs. exactly.
The Name Of Your Parent(s): Paul and Iris.
The Name(s) Of Your Sibling(s): None, bless God.
Heritage: ½ German Catholic, ½ Russian Jewish.
What Religion Are You: Slightly spiritually inclined, and non-religious. Basically, I do believe in a sort of 'God', not per say a 'white man with a beard' sort of deal, just a mysterious universal sort-of-thing, and have a deep distrust and dislike for organized religion.
Philosophy: Utilitarianism and Aestheticism.
Type Of House You Live In: A 1-floored typical airy suburban Florida 'palace' with 4 bedrooms, 3 ½ bathrooms, and a pool. Yes, and I mentioned the pool for my own benefit; bet your arse.
Countries You Have Been To: Lovely England. My land of dreams. O, and the US, of course.
States You Have Been To: New York, Connecticut, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, North Carolina. And Florida, of course.
Color Of Eyes: Brown.
Color of Hair: Naturally, black. Unnaturally, as I type-- brown on top, black beneath, with brown-gold highlights.
Favorite Color: Light yellow.
Are You Single?: Most assuredly. But I have hope. :P
Dream Date: A romantic sort of dinner, and talking through to the morning. Or talking over lunch. Or a picnic, complete with poetry and books on philosophy, an array of wines and baguettes. I'm very cheesy.
Things That Most Attract You To The Opposite Sex: In the Looks category: Hands, and slim, very slightly muscled arms. And the Head. A Good Head is an essential. In the Most Important category: Intelligence, firstly. Independence, and self-worth. Confidence. Romantic personality. Artistic leanings. Difference. And, dare I say it-fashion sense. O Lord!
Who Do You See Yourself With In Five Years: Uhm, I'd like to think-a beautiful, pale intellectual, hedonist and fellow writer, with a head of dyed-red, wavy hair, a quirky smile, and a love of life. Most likely: British. Most hopefully: Irish. (And who knew?) All about the accent. I'd live in sin with him in a flat in either London, Dublin or New York, and we'd spend foolishly the money from my first book. :)
Favorite Things About Yourself: My Artistry. My love of the archaic. My ambition. My romanticism. My unabashed silliness. My talent, and my willingness to admit it. I like all but my timidity in the personality, to tell you the truth. Physically… My hands, of course. My back, which is very good-looking, and my neck. I'm very odd, and like small parts of myself rather than the big picture. But I suppose some women do that. The whole of it kind of puts me off… My glasses. And my hair. On good days. :P
Favorite Band/Artist(s): Belle and Sebastian; Bach; Simon and Garfunkel; Kings of Convenience; Gershwin; Mozart; Chopin; hitomi; Badly Drawn Boy; Sparklehorse; Rufus Wainwright; Hefner, Smashing Pumpkins; Coldplay, Travis (but, I admit-- their lyrics can be shite); Shazna (J-rock to the stars-- hurrah!); Plastic Tree; hide; Oasis; Blur; Creeper Lagoon; The Mamas and the Papas; The Dandy Warhols; Moby; Love Psychedelico; Radiohead; REM (though the new CD is shite); The Divine Comedy; Mr. Children; L'Arc~en~Ciel.
Favorite Movie(s): The Madness of King George; Titus; Great Expectations (tv; 80's); A Clockwork Orange; Wilde; I Claudius (series); Avalon; Quills; Dangerous Liaisons; Dead Poets Society; Being John Malkovitch; Amadeus; Topsy Turvy; Pride and Prejudice (A&E); Angela's Ashes; Harold and Maude; Nora; The Chocolate War; The Red Violin; The Last Emperor; Immortal Beloved; Carrington; Hannah and Her Sisters; The Talented Mr. Ripley; A Room With a View; Dr. Ziavago; Gladiator (though it does butcher history shamefully); The Scarlet Letter (as in-- the version I have yet to direct, in 10-or-so years, with a killingly good-looking Rev. Dimmesdale...)
Favorite TV Show(s): I'm a big geek, based on my TV shows. The Fast Show; Father Ted; Ballykissangel; Ground Force (British flash-gardening. I'm a junkie.); Monty Python's Flying Circus; The League of Gentlemen; Antiques Roadshow (British version only, as it has better appraisals); Iron Chef; Molto Mario (I love him; and God I'm a weirdo!); In a Land of Plenty (long mini-series based on the book); and recently Six Feet Under. I'm hooked, so pardon me.
Favorite Books: Ulysses; The Fountainhead; Vanity Fair; At Home with the Marquis de Sade (bio.); The Gormenghast Chronicles (Titus Groan, Gormenghast, and Titus Alone); Great Expectations; Crime and Punishment; Brideshead Revisited; The Scarlet Letter; In a Land of Plenty; A Tale of Two Cities; A Clockwork Orange; Angela's Ashes; The Complete Letters of Oscar Wilde; The Wind in the Willows; I Claudius series; The Theban Plays (Oedipus Rex, Antigone, Oedipus at Colonus); Shogun; the Myst series (mostly, 'The Book of Atrus').
Favorite Actress (or female entertainer): Kate Winslet. As she's the perfect woman, look-wise, in my opinion. I don't care for many actresses. Their attitudes piss me off. But I like Julia Roberts's funky-wonderful wide mouth. :)
Favorite Actors (or male entertainer): Alan Cumming, Anthony Hopkins, Geoffrey Rush, Jonathan Rhys Meyers… and Don Wycherly, my Father Aidan. (faint)
Stupidest Movie: Too many to mention. And frankly, I don't want to go into them.
Favorite People: A very varied group: Oscar Wilde, the Marquis de Sade, James Joyce, T. S. Eliot, William Pitt the Younger, George IV, Oliver St. John Gogarty, Voltaire, e. e. cummings, Mozart, Alexander Hamilton, Izam (yes indeed!), Virginia Woolf, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Napoleon, Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema (I want to live in his paintings), Aubrey Beardsley, William Morris, Rubens, Ingres, Alan Cumming, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, the guys at Cyan (developers of the Myst games; Lord love them), and a multitude of fictional characters and people I know in real life.
Hobbies: Writing, reading, art-ing, composing, obsessing, music-listening, singing, shopping, eating, and dressing men with my mind.
Favorite Etc.: I love elements of nature: afternoon sun, Autumn leaves, light on a lake and filtering through leaves, sunsets and rises, light yellow flowers, trees in a light breeze, it's like an intoxification for me, and I don't care how corny that sounds. I love being corny, the expression 'Corny', and 'O Lord', 'Good God', 'It kills me', 'It makes me want to die', and other such 'wit'. I love love, and knowing when you have it, with two people I have yet to experience, but I enjoy even one-sided love when I have it-and it's never returned, sadly. I love being sad, at times-being melancholy is a quite beautiful thing. I love beauty. I love art- primarily classical, neo-classical, baroque, Pre-Raphaelite, Art Nouveau. I love European history, particularly 18th century, ancient Rome, and the English Regency era. I love being obscure, as well as silly. I love the look of attractive men, and attractive men's clothes. Irish guys-I love them. I love food, but good food. I love having good taste. I love the word 'Quite'. I love antiquated language use. I love reading-I love classic books most people positively hate, such as Ulysses. (and I adore Ulysses.) I love people who are in control, and countering, sensitive people. I love the Artistic Temperament (whatever that is); I love decadence and bohemian lifestyles. I love orgasmic music. I love the words Aestheticism and Hedonism. I really, although I sound as if I don't very much, love life.
And I love being damned pretentious.
Most Important Person In Your Life: My mum. :p
Are You A Virgin?: Yes. Not for religious reasons-- but because I haven't found anyone worthy of taking it yet. Sex = Love to me. Love = Relationship to me. I have neither. I'm of the minority. ;P
Smoke Cigarettes?: Once, for a solitary three months; quit.
Favorite Restaurant: Shells-a Godly local seafood restaurant. Wagamama. (Japanese lifestyle restaurants in Britannia) Geales. (Famous fish and chips)
Favorite Foods: Pasta. Sushi (tuna, eel, & salmon primarily). Fine chocolates (Dear Godiva…). Clam chowder from Shells. Parmesan cheese. Olive-bread dipped in extra-virgin olive oil. Lobster and butter. Sun-dried tomatoes. Star-fruit. Peaches. Strawberries. Oranges. Dried cranberries. Fajitas. Focaccia. Goat cheese pizza. Shortbread cookies. Pistachio ice cream. Real scones. Wet walnut sundaes (just the ice-cream and wet walnuts, please). Peach soda from Japan. Seltzer. Heavily-buttered toasted onion bagels.
Favorite Alcohol: Champagne, not dry, preferably. Strawberry or Raspberry Arbor Mist. Margaritas. The only beers I can stomach would be Newcastle Brown Ale and Killian's Irish Red Ale. I normally loath beer.
Favorite Drink: Un-sweetened iced tea, water, seltzer, caramel Frappuchinos, hot mandarin orange tea. Earl Grey and milk.
Favorite Candy: Godiva chocolate. Belgian chocolate. Those Rocher chocolates. Coffee hard-candies. (Preferably of the Japanese variety, or the Nutra-Sweet brand.)
Favorite Brand Of Gum: Wrigley's Spearmint. And the Japanese brand Lotte's Coffee Gum.
Person Of Interest Right Now: My Inmedae, main character of 'Adirai'.
Ever Gone Skinny Dipping: No, as I'm damn inhibited. I'd probably fall over dead if anyone other than those I'm comfy with (which is, like, nobody) saw me naked. Sweet Jesus.
Rant --> --> Style: I move about a lot in the sense of 'style'. I don't have a particular one, but I'm noticeable, I'd like to think. I don't base my clothes on who I 'hang' with (as they're very varied), nor the music I choose to listen to. (would there be a Classical-Japanese-indie-Brit style…?) I don't 'rebel' with my clothes. It's me, I wear whatever makes me happy and gives me the most enjoyment-and seeing how clothing is such a big damn deal now-a-days, with the 3-second-judgment fact, and people basing suppositions on what one wears, I'm the odd man out. Suburban Bourgeois Teen Clothing Politics make me squirm. Squirm, I say. I'm all mixed, style-wise. I love Japanese Street Style. (Hurrah to Non-no -- Japanese magazine of choice.) My magazines have corrupted me. I'd like to say I'm British-Traditional-looking with too many jeans and a mix of silly vintage t's (a passion of mine-- I am a thrift-store-whore :p). I'm always with sweaters. I wear damned sweaters in summer. Even turtlenecked sweaters, mind you. Because I'm odd. Bowling shoes and old men's 1900's wingtips are my obsession, as are pointy-toed mules, 1920s track shoes (I own replicas from London) and 1910's style heels. I love old men's golf hats. :P And long, old, scruffy coats. I adore corduroy, though it stretches like all Hell. And argyle socks. And much light-yellow-- it's the no. 1 color. I adore bowling-bags. I have one, it's mine, and I love it. I have these emo-ish glasses (which I wear, not because glasses are somehow 'hip' now, but because I'm nearly legally blind. :p) -- but I wouldn't ever say I'm emo. I'm a sap. :) The only jewelry I wear is my class ring (constantly; naked without it) and a plain silver chain (sometimes). I always wear toe-nail polish, though never of the fingernail variety. Fingernail polish is tacky. And I love wearing my mall-clothes when I do. I'm A-OK with being a consumer, as long as I don't spend fortunes that could be spent on other, more worthy things. (Books! CDs! Interior Design!...) It's grand to buy things. I wear a pretty fair amount of makeup. I have a long, trailing, blue silk kimono-like dressing gown, which is obscene, and looks as if I'm being a 17th century upper-class intellectual artist. Which you'd understand if you saw portraits of the period. I love tweed, so much, and if I had it, I'd wear it all the time. Ah, my GOD, if only for a tweed skirt…!
Favorite Item of Clothing: My very worn black V-neck sweater with many white cat hairs attached to it. A rugby-sweater that's forest green and stripped. A inside-of-a-lime-colored short-sleeved and turtle-necked ribbed sweater. And my black Converse sneakers-- they're everywhere I go, incidentally. Comfy and filthy. :D
Color Of Your Bathing Suit: Too fat for one. Eh.
What Do You Sleep In: Silk pajamas, men's, of course; or striped cotton ones.
Do you sleep with a stuffed animal: My little purple stuffed hippo; so named Hippo Creon. And me kitty, Furina; not stuffed, of course.
Favorite On screen Kiss: None that I care about.
Honeymoon: The Riven Beach. :) Or, actually, most likely, Rome, Italy.
Place To Vacation: London (O, London!), New York, Tokyo, Rome, Dublin, Paris.
Age You Want To Get Married: God, around 30.
Age You Want To Have Kids: In the very far future.
Favorite Names:
--Female: Aelia, Arcadia, Etain, Eva, Constanza, Avenly, Julia, Avril, Meredith.
--Male: Aidan, Malachi, Oscar, Julian, Etienne, Sydney, Cecil, Alexander, Cain.
--And, only if in Britain: Evelyn. Which is traditionally English and male. And pronounced as 'Eve-lin', not 'Ev-a-lin'. Too odd and 'fruity' for the good old USA… although all my male names of choice are a bit 'fruity'…
Friends: A very select few.
How Many Buddies Do You Have: See above.
What is your dream car: (Azzie is an antique car worshiper) O God... A 1909 White Steamer-as it's the "most desirable car"; a 1905 Rolls-Royce 10 or 20 hp (as they all look different, essentially); a 1907 Rolls-Royce British Silver Ghost; a 1925 Bentley 3 litre, or 1927 6 ½ litre … Sweet Lord Jesus… But, more realistically, an acid-green New Beetle by Volkswagen. Or a Jetta. In light silver.
Toothpaste: I'd have to go into the bathroom to see, and I'm not up to it at the moment.
Your Toothbrush color: Yellow and white. (as known from memory!)
Favorite Holiday: Good old X-mas.
Favorite Day Of The Week: Saturday.
Favorite Season: Autumn. And sometimes Spring.
Nationality: American.
Favorite Comic: Tokyo Babylon. Japanese.
Favorite Finger Nail Polish Color: Light Yellow-the quest to end all quests.
Favorite Stores: Bombay (The home furnishings store. It's just God. And the home of many inside-jokes.), Godiva, Restoration Hardware, The Pop Boutique. (O!)
TV Show You Would Like To Live On: BallyK. (Of course, short for Ballykissangel. The king of Irish comedy-dramas.) Especially seasons 4-5. With the best-looking priest around. :)
Book You Would Like To Live In: Ulysses, as of now. And Gormenghast-if only for a vacation. The Myst novels, particularly Book of Atrus. I heart Gehn, as we all know. And, of course-- my own very old and ancient History of the Dreia, on Calidia, and my dear Adirai.
Lefty Or A Righty: Righty.
Last GPA: Too embarrassing to say.
How Many Hours Do You Talk On The Phone: For some, less than 2 minutes. Those I'm afraid of talking to on the phone, mostly. For others, 2-3 hrs+. Then, you know you're special. I hate the phone.
When Did You Get AOL: Never, by Heaven. I'm a Road Runner gal.
What Would You Want To Do If You Got Drunk: What I want to or what I DO?
Do You Like Your Name: No.
Would you betray your friend for money: Depends on the friend. And the quantity of money involved.
What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up: An amoeba. Or a writer. Quite the same. Writing is good for me. I used to want to be an actress, until I discovered I couldn't act. I'm inept. And so, I always say-Writing is a refuge for poor actors. It's true, you know. My piano is always an idea. And I never want to be an artist. Truthfully, I'll be a writer, a novelist, if it kills me-and it probably will. If it does, I'll teach college Literature courses. Later in life, I plan to be an English country squire. ;) Interior Design is always good, too…
Condom Or No Condom: Hmm.
Do you believe in the supernatural: Most definitely.
What Time Are You Going To Sleep Tonight: 12 A.M.
What Would You Do if You Were On A Date with cute Girl/Guy: Look at my shoes. That, or have the heart attack from disbelief. Everyone knows who I find cute, and having a date with him would be chance nil.
Favorite Disney Character: Basil of Baker Street. Were he a man, not a mouse, and not a cartoon, I'd make a pass at him. No kidding. :P
What do you remember most about this year: My England Trip.
What do you think of Ouija Boards?: Absolutely odd and unsettling, but wonderfully so.
Guys, with or without hats?: Depends. I like hats. Especially little old-man golfing berets. And tweed country-squire hats. I adore tweed.
What's on your mouse pad?: My hand. Which is situated on my mouse.
Favorite concert you have been to?: I've never been to a concert.
In the car, AC or open windows?: AC, I live for fake air.
Do you believe in yourself: I believe, but I do not trust.
Favorite sound: An aeroplane from far off, crickets on summer evenings, crunching leaves, praise, kids playing (though not up close…).
Favorite smell: Sugar cookies, smoking birthday candles, pipe tobacco, crunching Autumn leaves (yes, they have a smell…), baking bread, roasting coffee, peach tea room-spray from Pier-1.
Drinks with or without ice cubes?: Depends.
Worst feeling in the world: Failure, but failure at something worthwhile. Inadequacy. Loneliness. Loving and not receiving love in return. Rejection. Self-doubt.
What Is Most Important In Life: A meaningful life. As in, meaningful to myself.
Favorite thing to do on the weekends: Sleep in.
Do you get motion sickness: When I read in the car only.
Roller coasters-deadly or exciting?: A bit of both. But upside-down = deadly for me. None of that, thanks.
Pen or pencil: Pencil, for the eraser. Fountain pens are lovely, though. I want a quill. :p
How many rings before you answer the phone: Depends. Thank God for caller ID.
Are you a good friend?: Yes. I hope. That is, to those I value.
Chocolate or vanilla cake: Yellow cake reigns supreme. I'm biased.
Do you like to Drive: I don't drive.
Thunderstorms-scary or cool: Deliciously scary.
What is your Zodiac sign: Gemini.
Do you have a job?: Absolutely not. My job is Being Me.
Do you eat stems of broccoli: Yes.
If you could dye your hair what color would it be: Blonde. Too scared to pull that one, though. I'd make a really crappy blonde.
If you could have a tattoo, what and where would it be: A favorite quote that would state my life's goal in a driving inspiration. In very slight, aged-looking script, at my very lower back.
Favorite Quote: "God and other artists are always a little obscure." - Wilde. Not my tattoo-quote.
What is under your bed: I haven't the faintest, but I know it's quite disgusting.
Any Pets?: My most beloved Furina, cat extraordinaire. A Golden Retriever named Sandy, and one more cat, Luna. Et some fish.
Favorite Month: October.
Favorite Part Of The Paper: Arts and Liesure. NY Times magazine, on Sundays.
Groups You Despise: Most Teenagers, Pseudo-Artists, Pseudo-Intellectuals, Frat-Boys and Mini-Frat-Boys, Homophobes, Misogynists, No-Talent 'Sensations', No-Talent Pretentious Shites, Catty Girls, Unqualified Mothers, Lookists, Rebellious Teens, So-Called "Playas" (most annoying… the "playa" emergence has killed romance), White Male Suburban "Gangstas". It all just kills me.
Give A Message Out To Whomever You Want: If you've read all this, I'm just as surprised as you are. :)
