Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon R - Sailor Atlantia Episode 1:
"The Arrival of Three New Students, First Day at School"
Sailor Atlantia 1
It came in the dead of night. The meteorite crashed into the earth with tremendous force. It then floated up and away from the crash site leaving a small crater in it's wake.
Luna was awakened by the flash of light and the sound of the impact. But, true to herself, Usagi slept on unaware next to her.
*What was that?* Luna thought, *I'd better go see what happened!* Quickly, she jumped from the bed, and up to the window ledge. With one last look at Usagi, she jumped out the open window.
"What is THIS?" The black furred cat questioned, eyeing the sight of impact. Nothing was there, but she knew something HAD been there. With that, she bounded away. She couldn't search it well when others were coming to investigate. She'd have enough time for that later.
"Usagi-chan, wake up!"
The odango haired girl sat up, glancing at the green haired girl who stood over her. The girl, dressed in a school fuku, had the aforementioned long bright green hair and purple eyes.
"Terra-chan...." Usagi said as she sat up, rubbing her eyes. Terra smiled.
"I'm glad you're up. Now, get out of bed, I'll see you downstairs."
Usagi nodded, as her green haired friend left the room.
"Alright, Terra-chan." Usagi rolled out of bed, falling to the ground. "Owww!" She moaned in pain, as she yawned widely. She was extra tired this morning. Still, she was lucky to have Terra there to get her up on time. She got up from the floor, changed into her school uniform, and went downstairs.

"The Arrival of Three New Students, The First Day of School"
Written by Dana Ritchel
"Class, we have a nice surprise today. We have three new students." Haruna-sensei motioned to the three students behind her as she spoke. The male of the group had short light brownish hair, and the girl next to him had the same. The 'sore finger' of the group was the girl off to the side of them. With her long silver hair, and deep blue eyes, she was definitely different. She pointed to the brown haired girl.
"Ginga Natsume, Seijuurou, her brother, and," She pointed to the silver haired girl. "Silantat Ariel."
The girl named Ariel grimaced.
"Excuse me, that isn't my name." she said.
Haruna, as well as many students, eyed her strangely.
"Well, students, Ariel is coming to us from America, so her ways may be a little different than ours..." Haruna explained, smiling, but still eyeing her strangely.
"But still, that isn't my name!" the girl said again.
"What do you mean?" Haruna was starting to get agitated. "Of course it's your name!"
Ariel shook her head again.
"Listen, my name is ‘Ariel Silantat,' NOT ‘Silantat Ariel!' All right?"
"Well, I don't know how they do it in America, but here we put family name before given name!"
"I really don't care!" The girl admonished. Haruna and Ariel were now at each others throats, and the center of attention for the entire class. Usagi started to laugh. She couldn't help it, this really was funny.
Haruna glared at Usagi, then back at Ariel. "Just for smarting off to me like that, get two water buckets and get out in the hall NOW!"
Usagi laughed harder as Haruna got angrier, then sobered down considerably at her teacher's next words. "And Usagi, you get out there with her!"
Ariel, by then, had already grabbed her buckets, and was outside. Grumbling, Usagi followed her.
Terra raised her eyebrows in surprise at Ariel's actions. She hadn't met many American transfer students, and she knew none of them had ever reacted that way before. She glanced over at Usagi, who was closing the door, and sighed. Terra then looked back up at the two remaining students. She had felt a strong surge of strange energy. Part light, part dark, she couldn't tell who it came from. She would have to watch these new students closely.
"I can't believe this!" Ariel leaned back against the wall, holding the two heavy buckets out to her side.
"You'll get used to it." The girl next to her told her, with a smile.
"Why do you say that?" Ariel scowled.
"I used to have to this all the time...still do." Ariel had an incredulous look on her face, so the girl emphasized the point. "Really, I mean it."
"I guess I'll believe you..." Ariel sighed. "This just isn't the news I wanna take home to my grandpa..."
"Hope he isn't like my mom then." the girl said, nervously.
"Why's that?"
"Oh, she always explodes when she finds out that I've gotten in trouble....." (Insert picture of Ikuko looming threateningly over Usagi, rolling pin in hand.)
"He won't be mad....Just disappointed."
"Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be alright...." the girl smiled warmly.
"I just don't want to be here...." Ariel confessed.
"At least we don't have to do any class work."
Ariel nodded. "Right. And maybe no math either, when we go back."
"Ergh....I have a feeling you don't like math."
Ariel grinned. "Right...." she paused, embarrassed that she had forgotten to ask the girl's name.
"Usagi."
"Right, Usagi." then Ariel sighed.
"Hey, don't let this get to you. It'll be lunch in no time at all."
On cue, Usagi's stomach rumbled.
Ariel's look changed, as she giggled. "Good, it looks like you need it." she said, winking.
Usagi laughed quickly, but quietly. "Yeah, I do!"
True to Usagi's words, lunch wasn't that long away, even though they had to stand out in the hall until it came. "Ariel-chan, come meet my friend Terra."
"All right, Usagi."
"Terra-chan!"
"Nani, Usagi-chan? Arms tired from all the bucket holding?" Terra laughed. Usagi grinned as she glanced at Ariel. When they had first put the buckets away she'd kept rubbing her numb arms.
"Hai, but Ariel-chan took it harder than I did...." she patted Ariel's back. Terra kept her purple eyes on Ariel. The girl flinched under the gaze.
"What is it?" Terra asked.
"Oh! Nothing, nothing..." Ariel shook her head. "Sorry for staring." she apologized.
"Well, Ariel, this is my friend Terra. I'd introduce you to Naru-chan, but she's home with the flu."
"Too bad." Ariel said sympathetically.
Usagi nodded her head.
"Well, then," Terra said, smiling. "let's eat!"
The three sat down under one of the yard's trees to eat. Usagi was eyeing Ariel's lunch, greedily.
"Looks yummy...." she drooled.
"Thanks. My grandpa made it for me...."
"Can I try one of those?" Usagi pointed to the cookies in the box.
Ariel nodded, as she took them out, and offered one to Usagi.
"Here you go, Usagi." Usagi literally snatched the cookie away and popped it in her mouth in under a second. All the while, Terra kept her gaze on Ariel.
*I don't sense the power now, but...* she realized something. *The flare-up most likely only occurred because of the argument! Now I need to know more.*
Ariel and her two new friends returned to class. Finally, she got to sit in her new seat, behind Usagi, with Terra on her right, and Natsume to her left.
"Okay class," Haruna said, "take out your math books, and do pages 23-26, numbers 24-60." Moans issued from around the class, mostly from Ariel and Usagi, and especially loudest from Ariel.
*I HATE math!* she thought.
Usagi, in front of her, had the same look on her face. *Terra's been helping me so much...but that doesn't mean I have to like this subject!*
Ariel had just opened her book. And all she could think and worry about were all the 'F's' she was going to get in this class...
"Seijuurou-kun, could you help me with this number?" Natsume asked her "brother."
Seijuurou glanced back at Natsume, who was leaning up to talk to him, keeping her voice low enough so Haruna couldn't hear. But not low enough so Ariel didn't hear. She glared at the two, leaned over in her seat, and bopped Natsume across the head. Natsume winced in pain, and fell sideways out of her chair. Students were laughing.
"I'm trying not to fail this, and you keep talking. So BE QUIET!" Ariel whispered fiercely.
Haruna-sensei looked up from the front of the class, annoyance clearly on her face.
"Look, Silantat, I don't CARE!" Natsume stood up, glaring down at Ariel.
"Ergh! My name is Ariel! Can't you get that right?!"
Usagi glanced at the two girls. "Minna, quiet..." she whispered nervously.
"Why don't you shut up, odango atama!" Natsume snapped at her.
Haruna shook her head sadly. "Ahem." she tried to get the attention of the three girls, who didn't notice.
"HEY! Don't call me odango atama!" Usagi glared at Natsume.
"I'll call you whatever I want to!" Natsume snapped back.
"Listen to me! Why don't you just shut up so I can do my math!" Ariel broke in again.
"AHEM!"
That caught the three girls attention, as all three of them looked up at her.
"That's it!" Haruna yelled. Usagi burst into sudden tears. "Usagi, you shouldn't be yelling, even though I expect it from you."
She glared at Ariel and Natsume. "But I didn't expect it from you two!" she thought for a moment. "Well, a least not from YOU Natsume." She went on, before Ariel could retort. "All three of you have detention this afternoon!"
"And Seijuurou-kun," she continued, "you should get back to work." He nodded his head and continued with the problems.
*Oooh, how DARE she!* Natsume thought furiously as she glared over at Ariel, whose head was lowered in concentration.
*She'll pay for getting me into detention! She WILL!* she sliently swore, then went back to her math work with a passion, imagining it was not algebra she was doing, but knifing Ariel.
Time passed slowly, and then the time of destiny finally came. Ariel walked into the detention room. Usagi was already their, her head laying on the desk. Ariel walked over to another seat, close to Usagi, and sat down. She copied the other girl's action by resting her head on the desk.
*Grandpa's going to be so disappointed...* she thought, as she tapped her fingers rhythmically on the desk, light enough so Haruna couldn't hear her. *It's my first day here at my new school, and already I'm messing it up!* she sighed, as she continued tapping the table. *At least I don't have to do work in here...*
Then Natsume came in, grumbling the entire time. She took a seat far from Usagi and Ariel and sat down, all the while planning her revenge.
"I'm home!" Ariel cried, as she slipped off her shoes and put on her comfortable slippers.
"Is that you Ariel?" her grandfather walked into the room. He was a white-haired, kindly-looking soul, a bit taller than Ariel. There was a look of concern on his face. "I was worried, are you all right?"
She nodded. "I'm sorry, I got...." she mumbled the last words.
"What? I couldn't hear."
"detention....." she whispered quietly.
"Ariel. Stop playing around." he said, feinging annoyance.
"Oh okay." she gave up. "I got detention, and I had to stay after school."
She waited for him to berate her. But, to her surprise, he didn't. She opened her tightly closed eyes, and glanced at him.
"What happened?" he didn't sound mad at all.
"Well, I was doing my math work....You know how math's my worst subject and all," he nodded, and she went on with her story. "Well, this girl was talking next to me...so I-I hit her on the head, and she fell out of her chair, then the teacher got mad at she and I for yelling..."
She took a big gulp of air. "That's why I had detention today." she decided not to tell him about bucket duty earlier that day.
"I see, Ariel." he smiled. "Just don't do it again."
"Thanks grandpa." she smiled, too, then gave him a hug. "I won't, I promise." *Even though she really annoys me, I promise.*
"Good, now you had better get your homework done..."
She nodded, smiling. But inside, she panicked. *Ack! Homework! Just my luck!*
"Okay, see you at dinner, grandpa!"
She ran up the stairs, to her room.
"It wasn't fair, Terra-chan." Usagi sat on her bed, and Terra was in the chair at her desk, finishing her homework.
"Don't worry, Usagi-chan." Terra said.
"But..."
"I'm sure Natsume didn't call you odango atama to be mean. She's new, don't forget that."
"Ariel-chan's new too, but she isn't mean like Natsume!" Usagi cried.
"Jut try to be nice, alright?" Terra asked her.
Usagi sighed, but nodded. "Oh okay, I'll try."
"Good. Now, get your English done, I have to go...." *I can't say, "I have to go talk to your cat..."* "I'll be back, okay?"
"Okay, Terra-chan." Usagi sighed again as she opened her books.
"Luna?"
The black furred cat looked up. Terra stood before her, then hunched down so she could talk in relative privacy.
"Hmm?" Luna was surprised. She didn't talk often nowadays. "What is it, Terra?"
"Sorry about this, but I had a strange feeling at school..." Terra said.
"What was it?" The black furred cat asked the green haired girl.
"Three new students started today, and all in my class."
The black cat obviously missed being disbelieving and sarcastic to Usagi, because her voice had that kind of tone when she answered. "Oh yes, Terra, that is quite strange..."
Terra ignored the cat's cynicism. "That isn't all, Luna."
The cat would have raised an eyebrow, if she could. "What else?" she asked, this time serious.
"I felt a strange power...and, even more strange, it was both light AND dark. But, I couldn't tell which student it came from."
"This is serious." Luna said. "Do you have any idea who it might be?"
"I might."
"Who, Terra?"
"Silantat Ari.." Terra stopped and corrected herself, "I mean, Ariel Silantat." she saw the question in Luna's eyes. "She doesn't like you saying her last name first..."
"But that's the way we do it here in Japan." Terra nodded at Luna's words.
"I know Luna, she just doesn't like it...really hates it, actually. Anyway, she's the new student Usagi made friends with today."
Luna nodded after Terra was finished. "Speaking of strange occurrences..." her voice trailed away.
"Nani, Luna?"
"Last night, a meteor hit and left a crater. It wasn't that big, but the meteor wasn't there when I got there."
Terra nodded. "I see..." she lowered her gaze momentarily, then looked back up at Luna. Her eyes were serious.
"Luna, will you have to give Usagi-chan her memories back?"
Luna began to reply, but Shingo walked in and she meowed instead.
"Uh, Terra?" the boy asked. "Not that's it's really any of my business, but, um, why are you talking to Luna?"
"Oh, nothing Shingo..." the now-sweatdropping girl said as she left the room, still hunched down like she had been when she was talking to Luna while Shingo was left standing alone and looking confusedly from Luna back to Terra as she walked/waddled down the hall.
Ariel heard her grandfather call her. "Ariel, dinner's ready!"
The silver haired girl looked up from her homework.
"Great! I'll be right down!" she shouted.
She closed her book, carefully marking the page, then got up and left the room. She could smell her grandpa's cooking even upstairs. She took a deep breath. "Yummy, he made my favorite...."
She got to the dining room, and sat down at her usual seat. Not that it had been 'usual' long. She'd only been living with her grandpa for a few weeks.
"You made my favorite, grandpa!"
He nodded, smiling. "I know, I hoped it would cheer you up, since at school...." he waved a hand dismissively.
"I don't mind that, I hope she forgot.... I don't want an enemy..." however, she was sure that Natsume was still mad at her. She looked too mean to be all that forgiving...
"I'm sure everything will turn out all right." he smiled. "Now let's eat or the food will get cold."
After that, they started eating. Ariel's mind drifted back to the past few weeks. She'd been living with her father in Kyoto, and hadn't been there that long at all. He'd been busier and busier, with his new job, and that's when she suggested the idea of moving in with her grandpa. He consented, only after making sure it was fine with him.
Grandpa had said he'd be happy to have Ariel stay with him. Ariel was glad he had. Her father had less and less time for her...At least now she'd be with someone who loved her and wouldn't forget her because of a business meeting.
"May I be excused?" she asked when she finished her dinner. One thing she had learned were her manners, her father ground them into her, time and time again. I suppose I should be glad for that. But still...SHE had been alive then. He hadn't grown bitter. Her grandfather nodded his head.
"Of course, Ariel." Walking over to him, she gave him a kiss on the cheek, then went up to her room. Back in her room, she went back to working on her homework.
*No reason I should fail, I don't want to embarrass grandpa!* she thought as she continued her math problems.
The next day started on a good note. Ariel was up early, out the door with her homework. She planned on apologizing to Natsume...She hadn't expected acting like she had yesterday. But, as intent on her thoughts as she was, she wasn't paying attention. So she didn't expect it when she ran into an obstacle. She fell back with the force of the impact, then looked up.
"Oh my-I'm so sorr..." Her words trailed away. Standing before her, offering her his hand, was the MOST HANDSOME man she had EVER seen. Tall, (Or that could have just been the fact that she was sitting on the ground...), he had short black hair, and blue eyes. She felt her heart beat faster. *He's so...*
"Miss?" he said.
"Huh?" Ariel snapped out of her daze.
"Let me help you up?"
She nodded, and accepted his hand. He pulled her up.
"I'm so sorry..." she said sadly.
He smiled. "Don't mind, I wasn't paying attention either."
"Really?" she sounded surprised.
"Yes, really. Now, are you all right?" he asked, concern filling each word.
She nodded, and he smiled again. *He doesn't seem mad at all! Wow, it's my lucky day!*
"... " she didn't know what to say, so closed her mouth. *I'm sure I look like a wide-mouthed bass...how embarrassing!*
"I hope I didn't hurt you..." he began.
She looked up at him, a determined look on her face. "My name's Ariel."
The young man grinned. "I see. I'm Mamoru."
"Mamoru." *What a beautiful name...* "Nice to meet you." she smiled.
"You too, Ariel. Now, since you haven't answered me," he sounded concerned again, "you're sure you're all right?"
"Yes," she nodded slowly. "More than you can ever believe." she whispered as she walked away. *I think I'm in love..* Then, with a start, she looked down at her watch(It's way cute, the background's a crescent moon and there are two kittens that look like they're chasing each other on the hour and minute hand.)
"Ack! I'm late!" Mamoru watched her with a smile as she ran off.
"Silantat?" No answer. "Silantat?" Haruna repeated. Sadly, shaking her head, she began to mark Ariel absent.
Suddenly, the door to the room was thrown open. Ariel came running in, panting. "I'm here! I'm here!"
Haruna sighed. *Another Usagi...just what I need.*
"I got detention AGAIN!" Ariel cried during lunch, to no one in particular, "No FAIR!"
Ariel felt like she was going to cry. "Grandpa is definitely going to be mad at THIS."
She sighed as she took out her lunch. As she was eating, she felt a shadow fall on her, and looked up. It was Natsume, the girl from her class. Ariel sighed.
"What do you want?"
"You're not going to get away with what you did yesterday, Silantat." Natsume said in an intimidating voice. Ariel grimaced in annoyance, but kept her cool.
"Look, there's no reason we should keep fighting..."
"No reason?! You're the reason I had detention!"
"And if we fight again, then detention again. Don't you get that?"
"Of course I get it! I'm NOT stupid!" Natsume started getting incredibly red in the face.
"...could have fooled me..." Ariel whispered under her breath.
"I HEARD THAT!" Ariel saw Natsume about to leap at her, when she was restrained by a hand on her collar. Natsume twisted around, to see who it was: a tall girl with brown wavy hair in a ponytail and green eyes.
"What do you want?" Natsume asked her.
The brunette kept a serious look on her face as she let Natsume go. "She doesn't want you bothering her. Why don't you leave?"
"Why should-?" Natsume stuttered, "How dare you!"
"Look, just leave, all right?" The tall girl ordered more than asked.
Natsume shook her head angrily, clenched her fist, then left in a huff.
After she was gone, Ariel let out her breath. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." the brunette said as she started to walk away.
"Wait!" the girl stopped and turned. "Why don't you sit here?" Ariel asked.
The brunette smiled. "Thank you."
"I'm Ariel Silantat."
"Kino Makoto. Pleased to meet you!" the tall girl said, smiling as she sat down.
"Thanks again, Makoto, for helping me."
"I know what its like to be in fights. I really don't like those memories..." Makoto looked wistfully away, the heard panting.
"Ariel-chan!" Usagi ran up to her, and sat, panting.
"Hi Usagi! This is Makoto."
"Hello Makoto-chan!" then, to Ariel. "Sorry I'm late, Terra had to go to the library and I went with her..."
"Don't worry Usagi." Ariel calmed her.
Usagi sighed in relief. "Thank you SO much, Ariel-chan!"
They ate for a while, though Usagi kept looking over at Makoto's and Ariel's lunches when she was finished. Makoto offered her some of hers, since she had packed more than she needed. Usagi happily offered her to lighten her of the leftover food, and began to chow down.
"We came here for a reason, Ail! Stop gaa-gaaing at girls, and let's get down to business!"
The woman in question had pink hair, and pale skin, and was wearing a red skintight uniform. Her companion was a man, with blue hair, and dressed in a dark blue skintight uniform. Both were floating in some black expanse dominated by a large tree. The woman continued.
"If we don't do something, the Doom Tree will die, and we will with it!"
The man smiled. "Of course, Ann. Now, pick a card..."
He held out his hand, and with it, a variety of tarot deck-sized cards. She carefully picked one, floated it into the air, then flipped it around and showed it to him.
"Ah. Cardian Vampeen. A perfect choice to gather energy for the Doom Tree." he brought the flute he now held up to his lips, and began to play a haunting melody that caused the card to grow and expand into a full blown monster.
"Cardian Vampeen," the woman, Ann, ordered, "go and gather energy for the Doom Tree."
"Vampeen!" the creature said in response, and vanished. The woman smiled.
"That was easy enough." she said, malevolently, "Now all we have to do is wait..."
"Ariel-chan?" Usagi was talking to the silver haired girl as they walked back to class.
"What, Usagi?"
"Why don't you come over to my house after detention today? Then we can go out and do something."
"That sounds like fun, Usagi. We'd just have to drop by my house so grandpa will know where I am."
"Ok. I'll wait, with Terra, for you." and, speaking of Terra, the green haired girl walked up to them.
"Done with the library finally, Terra?" Ariel asked, smiling.
Terra seemed surprised, but was saved from saying anything by Usagi.
"Terra-chan! I invited Ariel-chan over this afternoon!" she said, excited.
Terra smiled. "That sounds great, Usagi-chan!"
But her thoughts were serious, *Since that means I can keep an eye on her for a while.*
