"Ariel's First Date, Ann's Revenge-An Attack at Juuban Park"
Sailor Atlantia 4
"How can this be happening?" Ail asked no one in particular as he looked at the dying branches of the massive tree that existed before him in a strange pocket dimension that was linked to his and Ann's apartment.
"Ail, if the Doom Tree dies..." Ann's voice was tinged with fear that her eyes showed clearly. "Then WE die too!"
"I know..." he said, almost with a surrendering tone in his voice.
"We can't give up! We need more energy!" Ann said. "Get another cardian!"
Ail picked his head up, determination replacing the helplessness that had been there only a few seconds earlier.
"You're right, Ann," he smiled. "pick a card." he said as the tarot-deck sized cards appeared in his hand.
Ann levitated one into the air, and flipped it around to reveal to Ail the image of a regal woman dressed in fine silks and wearing a coronet.
"Cardian Empress!" he demanded. "Come forth!" he picked his flute up to his lips, but didn't have a chance to play even a note before Ann spoke again.
        "Ail?" Ann asked.
Ail sighed as he removed the flute from his lips. "Yes, Ann?"
        "Answer me one question."
        "Go ahead."
"Why have you been acting so strange today?"
"What do you mean, Ann?" he asked, caught off guard by this question. She narrowed her eyes in anger.
"You've been in a daze all day, like..." her voice trailed off as her eyes went wide with realization. "Don't tell me you've fallen for a human!" she growled.
"The way you say that, you make it seem as if you've fallen for one of these humans as well!" he said accusingly. She blanched.
"How dare you say that!" she shouted. He shook his head in disappointment.
"Listen, Ann, we have more important matters than arguing about humans. We'll talk abut this later." he placed the flute to his lips and began to play the haunting tune that would give the cardian life.

"Ami-chan," Minako began. "do you think you can use your computer to try and find negative energy? Then maybe we can track down the cause of these new youma."
Ami nodded and summoned her computer. "I can try. Using the information we've already gotten about these creatures..."
Usagi, sitting across the room, looked out the window and sighed. The sun was fading and it had become a dour twilight.
"I can't believe Beryl and the Dark Kingdom are back already..." she murmured.
"No," said Terra, shaking her head in disagreement. "This can't be Beryl, or the Dark Kingdom. Something's different."
Makoto glanced at her. "What do you mean, Terra-chan?"
Rei nodded. "Yeah, what makes you think it isn't the Dark Kingdom?"
        Terra took a deep breath.
"Well, I really don't know how to say it, except that these youma aren't like the youma of before. Different methods, plus, they don't take human bodies over."
"That's my sister, always thinking!" Minako said, smiling.
"Why thank you..." Terra bowed slightly, and then Ami grabbed their attention.
"Minna, I think I have something..." she said.
"What, Ami-chan?!" Usagi asked, rushing over to look at the beeping computer.
"It's coming from Juuban Park." Ami said.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Makoto stood up. "Let's get going!"
They nodded as one, and ran out of the temple.

"Ariel's First Date, Ann's Revenge-An Attack at Juuban Park"
Written by Dana Ritchel

*It's been like a dream tonight,* Ariel thought as Mamoru helped her out of the car. *My first date here in Japan, and with Mamoru! I must have died and gone to heaven!*
True, it had been a wonderful night, and dinner with Motoki and Reika had gone perfectly. Now, Mamoru had brought her to the park, so that they could watch the stars.
Mamoru, holding her arm gently, had a likewise look on his face.
"Well, my dear, let us go, so we can enjoy the night."
Ariel smiled, and nodded. "Of course." *I don't ever want this night to end.*

"Guys, keep your eyes open." said Ami, holding the Mercury Computer. She pressed a few keys. "According to my calculations, the youma should be right..."
"Henshin yo!" Minako screamed, as she rolled to the side, dodging the attack from the tall, regal woman, who had appeared.
        "MERCURY POWER!" Ami cried.
        "MARS POWER!" Rei cried.
        "JUPITER POWER!" Makoto cried.
        "VENUS POWER!" Minako cried.
        "EARTH POWER!" Terra cried.
        "MOON CRYSTAL POWER!" Usagi cried.
        "MAKE UP!" They finished together.
In a burst of light, feathers, and ribbons, Usagi became Sailor Moon. The rest of the Senshi went through their respective transformations and stood ready to fight in an instant.
The creature laughed. "How sweet, and you let me watch. I know now who you truly are."
"Well," Sailor Moon said. "You won't know for long!"
"FIRE SOUL!" Sailor Mars cried, forming a flame on her clasped hands, then sent it at the youma. It vanished, and the fire passed harmlessly by. The being then reappeared.
"What horrible aim. Let me show you how you throw fire around." with that, it lifted it's hand, and sent a gout of flame at Sailor Mars, who dodged to the side, barely missing being burned alive.
        "Hey! Fire is MY element!"
"Not anymore, it seems." the creature gleefully cried.
"This youma is far more powerful than anything I've ever seen." Sailor Mercury said, concern in her voice, as she viewed it through her visor.
"Youma?" it asked, incredulous. "I am no mere youma! I am Empress, Cardian! And you shall pay for calling me youma!" It sent a bolt of ice swirling out, which barely missed Sailor Mercury, who was knocked to safety by Sailor Venus.
        "Thank you, Venus!" Mercury said.
"No prob, Mercury." Sailor Venus replied as she got back to her feet, "And now, for you, Cardian, youma, whatever... CRESCENT BEAM!" the cardian dodged the light attack.
"SUPREME THUNDER!" Jupiter cried, sending lightning at the cardian.
But this attack, too, she dodged.
"We can't hit her!" Sailor Moon cried, on the verge of tears.
"Sailor Moon, don't give up!" Sailor Earth admonished her.
"Right, Sailor Earth... It's my turn now, Cardian! MOON PRINCESS HALATION!"
However, like every time before, she merely vanished, reappearing when it was safe.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk...you don't know who you're dealing with now, Sailor Senshi."
"No, we WILL stop you! SUPREME THUNDER...DRAGON!" Sailor Jupiter cried, surprised at what happened. A dragon, formed of pure electricity slammed into the stunned Cardian.
"What...?" The Cardian was hit this time, and knocked off of her feet by the force. "How dare you-!" She began to get up, but Sailor Mars stared her down.
"My turn, Cardian. FIRE SOUL...BIRD!" to her surprise, a bird formed of flame appeared, striking the youma. She was knocked back again, and fell onto her regal behind.
"This is getting a little too hot for me! It's been fun, but I must gather energy for my masters!"
And with that, she was gone.
"Wow, we have new powers!" Jupiter proclaimed.
"Yeah, and we'll majorly toast those Cardians, youma, or what ever they are, with them!" Mars said, clenching her fist.
"I think I have her already." Mercury said, tapping a few buttons on her computer. "She's still in the park!" And then a scream pierced the night.

Ariel could barely think in the time it took the monster to incapacitate her.
It knocked Mamoru back with a bolt of force. And then, it waved it's hand, and Ariel felt bonds made of pure gold wrap around her body, then came the sickly feeling of having her energy drained, again.
"No! Ariel!" Mamoru cried, trying to get to his feet. But, the Cardian turned to face him, and he too was bound by the gold rings.
"Machinasai!" Sailor Moon cried. "How dare you attack my friends, trying to enjoy this beautiful park! I cannot forgive you for ruining a young girl's first date! In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!"
"CRESENT BEAM...SHOWER!" cried Sailor Venus, and several beams of light shot out, striking the Cardian. The creatures staggered from the blow, but she still stood her ground.
        "Man, she's tough." Venus admonished.
Mercury's visor and computer vanished. "That's it! I'm tired of this! SHABON SPRAY...FREEZING!"
The Cardian just stood rooted to the ground as the attack hit her, freezing her solid.
        "Sailor Moon! Finish her!"
        "Right...MOON PRINCESS HALATION!"
In a cascade of light, the Cardian was gone. The rings around Mamoru and Ariel faded away, and the silver haired girl fell to the ground, unconscious. Mamoru rushed to her side, and Sailor Moon, pain in her eyes, ran off.
"Sailor Moon!" Sailor Earth shouted after the retreating figure before following.
Sailor Mars glanced angrily at Mamoru, then turned and followed Earth and Moon, and she was then followed by Sailors Mercury, Jupiter, and then Venus.
"Take care of her..." said Sailor Venus softly, as she left.
Mamoru watched the running figures until they were gone, then gently picked Ariel up.
        "I will."

Ariel came to, groggy, and fell into Mamoru's deep blue eyes right away. He'd been kneeling next to her, from where he had laid her down on a park bench, waiting, hoping. His face became so relieved when she opened her eyes.
"What hit me?" she asked sleepily.
        "A monster attack." he said.
        *That's right...Again...*
"Are you all right now?" he asked, concern filling his voice.
"Yes, I'm fine." Ariel lied. She couldn't have felt worse. "Thank you for worrying."
"Well, it's our first date...perhaps of many more to come. And I hope they don't end up like this..."
"I know what you mean. I'm all tired now..."
Then, he kissed her. It came as a shock. She'd never, even in her dreams, have thought he would have done so that night. He leaned back, as she blushed a brilliant shade of red, covering her lips.
"I'm sorry..." he apologized. She shook her head, taking his hands in her own as she sat up.
"No, no, no, that's not what I meant! It's just... I've never been kissed before, other than by relatives..."
She let her gaze drop, then felt his hands lifting her face up, so she was looking at him. "I'm sorry..." she whispered.
"Don't be." he said, smiling, and then, kissed her again. She expected it somewhat this time, and kissed him back. *Oh my God!* she thought, *I can feel my toes tingling!*

Usagi was staring up at the moon, when Terra and the others caught up with her, their Sailor outfits long since abandoned.
"He's gone!" she cried, "He'll never remember me!" then she burst into tears. Terra walked over to her, and sat next to her.
"He will, just give him time." Terra said softly, even as Usagi was shaking her head.
"But, what if, even if he does remember, what if he loves Ariel and not me?!" she whimpered.
Minako sat down on her left. "You and my brother are destined!" she said strongly. "Nothing will keep you apart!"
Rei nodded. "Right, Usagi!" she said, warmth filling her voice. "You can't let this crush you."
"You have to be strong." Makoto said quietly, and Ami nodded.
        "Yes, he'll remember one day."
"Minna...arigato!" Usagi looked around the group, sniffling, at her friends. "He'll remember..."
"You'll still be friends with Ariel-chan, right?" Terra asked, and Usagi nodded.
"Of course! I won't drop her just because of this! Mamo-chan and I are destined! Nothing can stand in the way of that!"
Her friends smiled at her renewed spirit.
"That's the Usagi we know and love." Terra whispered as she winked at the moon.

Ariel watched the car drive away, until it had disappeared in the distance. Then, she went to her house, and unlocked the door. Slipping in quietly, she re-locked the door, then went upstairs.
*It was a wonderful night.* she thought happily, but more tired than she'd ever been before.
She got to her room, and was in her pajamas and asleep before she even knew it.
