This is first debuted album from Big Fun and it's now deleted! The first time I saw their live performance was during the Smash Hits Awards along with Jason Donovan, Kylie Minogue, Bros, etc which was about a decade ago now. They sung this huge hit "Blame It On The Boogie" (originally done by The Jacksons) with those hand signals (if you have watched it too, you should know what I am talking about :)) and "I Feel The Earth Move" (Martika has done a version too). I still have a very strong remembrance towards the performance until now. I must say it was wonderful through out the whole Awards show especially with those great live Euro-hits from the 80's!
Regarding "Blame It On The Boogie", again I think the best version should come from Big Fun. Although The Jacksons version is original, it just doesn't sound right to me!?! Oh no, sorry about that! By the way, I think Big Fun do sound like Jimmy Somerville from Communards though! Unique voices.. Also I do have one special S/A/W track which exclusively featured both of them together and you will find difficulty to identify who is singing!? Look out for this feature in the near future.
Well, if you only like to own this single track "Blame It On The Boogie" by Big Fun, do check out the latest and greatest hits compilation from Stock Aitken Waterman that was released not very long ago (please go to the S/A/W special section for more details.). As I know this original Big Fun CD album is hard to get now. Nevertheless, please do get this one if you happened to come across because the 12" Remix in the album is great and the rest of the songs are hard to come by! Also I have another version of "Blame It On The Boogie" which is even a better mix. Check out over the Listening Booth below (SORRY TAKEN OFF ALREADY).
By the way, I hope you do notice that most of the artistes/groups under S/A/W production will have an "oldies" cover version under their name. For instance, Jason Donovan "Sealed With A Kiss", Kylie Minogue "Tears On My Pillow", Rick Astley "When I Fall In Love" and so on. And all are very well done! So does Big Fun. And nevertheless their cover are indeed more hard to come by. Also their cover on "I Feel The Earth Move" is more 70's feeling than Martika's version.
Enjoy!
