Armace

First Appearance: Slayers TRY 2

At first seemingly a shady opponent, Armace turns out to be one of the Kamizoku (god) of another plane, in service to the Dragon-God Volfied. He is fighting to stop the resurrection of Dark Star. (Armace is also a primary character, it seems, in Hajime Kanzaka's other big story, "Lost Universe," which takes place on a separate plane entirely from Slayers. Indeed, until Slayers TRY, the two storylines never had any connection to one another.)

Ashford

Lina finds a restaurant that has lake dragon steaks on the menu. She wasn't counting on going on a fishing trip with a grizzled old veteran known as Ashford, and she certainly wasn't buying the story about her, Gourry, Zel, and Amelia looking exactly like his children, but if you look at his locket, sure enough, they do...

Carrie

Carrie, a magic-user, wanted to marry her stepson Hallas Lyes off to her daughter in order to gain more power. When she found out Lina Inverse was in the area she arranged for all her men to go out and haul her in so that she could claim the reward, and supposedly split it with them. Didn't work. Ceiphied

Ceiphied is the primary Dragon-God of the world in which Slayers takes place. His power is directly in opposition to that of Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu, and like him, has five subordinates, each of which represents one of the five elements.

Christopher ul Brozzo Saillune

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 8

Alfred's father and Crown Prince Philionel's brother, Christopher will stop at nothing to ensure his spot on the throne. He even goes so far as to hire Mazenda and Kanzeil in order to eliminate his brother.

Clay

Dan (Haketaka no Dan)

Dark Star is the primary Mazoku on the plane from which Armace came. Some are trying to bring him to the plane in which Slayers takes place, as Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu lies dormant.

Daymia

Daymia and Tarim have a little gang-war thing goin' on, and he hires Amelia and Zelgadiss to vandalize and/or annoy Tarim... only both of them end up in jail for making a mess in the town.

Dilgear

First Appearance: Slayers TV 3

Zelgadiss originally hired Dilgear, a werewolf-troll halfbreed, to help him out. But when Zel reneges against Rezo, Dilgear switches sides, and it ends up costing him. Dilgear's not the brightest werewolf, and often runs his mouth without thinking...

Dion

Dion is the malevolent badguy boss in Slayers Royal who is trying to resurrect Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu.

Diol

This mad scientist tried to make Lina into a devastating chimera, but since she refused, he decided to make ten clones of Naga instead.

Deep-Sea Dolphin

Deep Sea Dolphin, residing in the Demon Sea, is one of the five subordinates to Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu.

Ellis

Ellis was Rezo's assistant before his demise, and dedicated much research to a particular cloning process. She eventually triumphed in creating a clone of Rezo, identical in every way including the megamaniacal take-over-the-world syndrome...

Eruk

Sylpheel's father; I don't have much information on him, other than the fact that he's now dead.

Hellmaster Fibrizo

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 19

Fibrizo, though he looks like a small boy, is actually a very fearsome foe. He commands power over the spirits of the dead, and can take those of the living with the snap of a finger. He slaughtered the entire town of Sairaag for his own personal experiment, involving Lina and the Giga-Slave, which eventually ended in the Hellmaster's demise.

Filia (also Firia, Phyria)

First Appearance: Slayers TRY #1

Phyria is one of the Gold Dragon race. (I've opted to spell her name 'Phyria' arbitrarily because I think it's more representative of her lineage than 'Firia' is.) To find out more about her, check out phyria.html.

Chaos-Dragon (Maryuu-oh, or Evil Dragon King) Gaav

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 18

Chaos-Dragon Gaav is a brash, headstrong fighter of a god. Ruthless and rude, he always carries a sword with him and has a contemptuous laugh. He was the one who changed Valgarv into a chimeric demon-dragon halfbreed, and seeks the death of Lina Inverse. One of the five subordinates to Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu, he attempted to revolt against the Demon-King of the North, some time ago, but later found his death at the hands of Hellmaster Fibrizo.

Galev

First Appearance: Slayers RETURN

Galev intends to conquer the world, and to that end he has created the organization known as Xain. His wife left him, running off with the kids, wishing simply to live life from the dictate of the heart. But, as Naga puts it, "In other words, [he] formed it as a hobby and failed miserably."

Garia Einberg

Gen

Glavos (also Grabos)

Ever since being helped by Valgarv so many years ago, Glavos has been a loyal servant. Brash and headstrong, Glavos is more of a strongarm grunt when it comes to duty, but he never wavers in his dedication to Valgarv.

Hallas Lyes

The only son of the Lyes family, the richest family in a small town en route to Sairaag, Hallas is arranged to marry the daughter of his stepmother Carrie. To get out of his predicament, he has to find a suitable bride within one week's time; luckily he runs into Lina... maybe not lucky for Carrie, let's just say that.

Halshifom

Halshifom, from the town in which Daymia and Tarim hail, is rumored to be a dark scientist who toys with biology. He supposedly was the cause for the purple goop which coated the town; it all seems to have been experimentation in search of a cure for his beloved Rubia.

Lord Heissen

First Appearance: Slayers GREAT

Lord Heissen seems to be at odds with Lord Granion over something or other. He creates a lot of little super-deformed Lina dolls, one of which gets a LITTLE bit out of hand.

Hyui Einberg

I'm really not sure of Hyui's relation to Laia or Garia. Maybe once I see the movie...

Jeffrey-kun

One of the two 'hired' by Christopher to assassinate his brother Phil, Kanzeil is a rather shady character from the get-go. He has mastery over his powers of teleportation, and usually opts to "disguise" himself in the form of a blue-skinned humanoid.

A longtime rivalry with Ruud leads the two to ask for players in a sport which bears a remarkable resemblance to tennis. Indeed, who better for Keith to pull in as a 'ringer' in the sport than the famous tennis star Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova? (Okay, maybe she's NOT a tennis star in the Slayers world, but what difference does it make?)

Laia Einberg

Laila is deeply in love with Kerel, a human. I'm not sure if she was originally human or not, but for at least one scene she is human...

Lark

Lark is the boy who shows up in Slayers Royal - apparently, he's trying to get the pendant of Lezariam back, because it can be used to resurrect Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu, generally considered a 'bad' thing. He has a sister named Rynnea who's been abducted, as well.

Lina Inverse

"The heroine of this story, she's a heretic genius who is known as everything from 'Robbers killer' to 'someone even a dragon wouldn't mess with.' Her skill with a sword is also above average. Lina's audacity and extreme talent get her mixed up in all kinds of trouble. With 'Villains have no rights' as her motto, she likes to attack bands of thieves and steal their money' - official synopsis on Lina. Luna Inverse

Luna is Lina's older sister, and to date her only known relative. It seems that when the two were growing up in Zefielia, times were tough, so Luna took a part-time job waitressing. Lina thought she would help out by making 'projections' of her sister Luna taking a bath, for money. Luna found out, and, well, let's just say Lina's trusted her judgment ever since. Luna's also proclaimed to be a much more powerful sorceress than Lina, according to Phyria in TRY #2.

Marco

Marco is the son of one of the bigshot families in the "New World" - he knows about the family treasure and asks for Zelgadiss' and Amelia's help to bring it to his friend Sera.

Martina Zoana Mel Navratilova(also Multina, Malchina)

Mazenda

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 9

The other of the two 'hired' by Christopher to assassinate Phil, Mazenda chooses a more human-like facade for her daily communications. She traps Lina in an alternate dimension for a short time, and later casts a spell which strips Lina of her magical abilities.

Mellyroon

First Appearance: Slayers : The Motion Picture Mellyroon is an elf girl who befriends Rowdy Gabriev on the island of Mipross, before it became an island.

Mikhail

Milgasia

Milgasia is one of the Gold Dragons, and is the first to greet Lina and the others as they enter the Valley of Dragons. He assists them in their battle with Zeigram and Gaav.

Mimi & Nene

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 14

Lina's quest for the Clair-Bibles of knowledge led her to one long-abandoned temple, along with Mimi and Nene here. They fight to the finish, eventually resulting in Lina's claiming the Clair-Bible. Unfortunately, it's of no use to her whatsoever...

Miwan

In a small town in which there seems to be no male presence whatsoever, Zelgadiss finds himself in drag, along with the other guys. While 'disguised,' he speaks with another girl who seems to play a rather important role in the town. When she gets abducted, it's up to Zel to save her... or is it 'him?'

Mossman

Mossman's the first big bad guy in Slayers Royal. He is the one who originally abducted Lark's sister Rynnea.

"Nali" Inverse

First Appearance: Slayers Special #3 (OVA)

When a beam from the Shadow Reflector hit Lina, it created an exact duplicate of her. Well, exact in every regard except her personality, which was reversed. So instead of a violent, tomboyish and deceitful girl like Lina, we get a peace-loving, girlish and completely nieve counterpart. ('Nali' is my name for the reflection - reverse the characters in 'Lina') Nali disappears soon after her creation, along with the Naga reflection.

Naga the Serpent

Naga follows Lina around, sometimes a partner, sometimes a rival, but almost always doing the completely OPPOSITE of Lina. Find out more at naga.html.

Noonsa

Noonsa is a prince among his people, and well-admired for his looks. Unfortunately for Lina, he's a walking fish, and an amorous one at that.

Philionel el di Saillune

First Appearance: Slayers TV 11

Amelia's father, Phil is the Crown Prince of Saillune, and presumably the only one trusted to take the throne after numerous assassination attempts. Phil, like his daughter, is dominated by his thirst for justice, so much that he has dedicated his life to being a pacifist. Or at least that's what he says, he acts more like a pro wrestler sometimes with moves like the 'Pacifist Crush'...

Pig

This pig keeps showing up in the oddest places. Apparently he's just a figment of Lina's imagination, from her twisted dream-scape...

Red Priest Rezo

The Red Priest Rezo was one of the Five Wise Men of the Age; born blind at birth, he wandered the countryside performing small miracles of the faith. Later, it seems that his faith wavered a bit more towards the dark side; Zelgadiss claims him to be both his great-grandfather and his father. That, and the fact that Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu was sealed within Rezo's eyes, makes him a little bit more evil by the time Lina meets up with him.

Riol

Rodimus

First Appearance: Slayers TV 3

Rodimus was one of Zelgadiss' henchmen, and followed him till his early demise. Rodimus was very loyal, and persevered through every situation given him, but had a nasty habit of falling asleep at critical moments.

Rowdy Gabriev

First Appearance: Slayers : The Motion Picture

Rowdy was around when the island of Mipross wasn't yet an island. He met up with a girl named Mellyroon and they started seeing each other. They were going to go to a festival, when the island was attacked by Joylock, and the Fairy Souls of the elf village wished for the peninsula to separate from the mainland. An indeterminate time later, Rowdy shows up again in a certain sorceress' dreams...

Rubia

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 5

Halshifom's beloved, Rubia seems to have been sealed away in a crystal for all eternity. Perhaps from sickness, perhaps from a spell, I'm not sure, but when she awakens, she is without a soul, without life, and so Halshifom commits a double-suicide in his futility.

Ruud

Ruud enlists the awesome tennis might (cough cough) of Lina Inverse in a fight to the finish against his greatest rival, Keith! Only, it turns out that they're actually father and son...

Rynnea

First Appearance: Slayers Royal

Rynnea is an elf, and Lark's sister. She gets abducted by Mossman before the opening of the game.

Sarina

First Appearance: Slayers RETURN

Sarina's village is the site for the rule of Galev's campaign. She's fairly skilled with the sword, and she doesn't know any magic, which seems to place her in the minority in the Slayers world...

Sarina's father

Sarina's father doesn't know any magic either, but he just flat-out ROCKS at swordfighting.

Sera

First Appearance: Slayers TRY #9

The daughter of one of the ruling houses in the "New World,", Sera knows of the family treasure and helps Lina bring it to a secluded island, where she plans to meet up with her friend Marco.

Ruby-Eye (Lord of Darkness) Shabranigdu

First Appearance: Slayers TV #8

The sole source of misery and negative emotions in the Slayers world, Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu is the superior of all other Mazoku. Defeated long ago by the Dragon King Ceiphied, Ruby-Eye was split into seven parts and scattered across the plane. A thousand years ago, one of these parts was resurrected by the Demon King of the North, but was defeated again by Ceiphied with the help of the Sea Dragon King Aqua. When Ruby-Eye awoke again, sealed within the eyes of the Red Priest Rezo, Lina Inverse was there to defeat him. Ruby-Eye's followers still attempt to resurrect him whenever they can, but with Lina around, it might be a while...

Shutaindolf

Sylpheel Nels Rada (also Shillfiel)

Tarim

Tarim and Daymia start a little war in the city; Tarim hires Lina and Gourry to help him out. Doesn't work though...

Tsuposky

First Appearance: Slayers TRY #16

Tsuposky is the name of the spirit trapped within an arcane pot, aboard a ghost ship.

Valgarv

First Appearance: Slayers TRY 2

Once a member of the proud Ancient Dragons, Valgarv lost his way in the middle of a desert. Wounded, and helpless, he stumbled upon Gaav, who offered him a choice: join the Mazoku, or die. Wrought with honor, Valgarv chose death, so Gaav killed him. However, he brought him back to 'life' as a hybrid demon-dragon, and now with Gaav's death, the now-loyal Valgarv fights on in his legacy, attempting to resurrect Dark Star.

Volfied

First Appearance: Slayers TRY (?)

Volfied is the primary Dragon-God of the plane from which his subordinate Armace comes. His power directly opposes that of Dark Star.

Vrumugun

First Appearance: Slayers TV #12

Hired to bring Lina and Gourry back to Sairaag, Vrumugun is a fairly competent, if deathly quiet, sorcerer. He also seems to have this uncanny ability of coming back to life...

Xelloss

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT #2

Zahaad

First Appearance: Slayers RETURN

Zahaad is one of the few members of the Xain organization headed by Galev. A fairly good swordsman, he doesn't seem to be all that bright and just, basically, a flunkie.

Zangulus

First appearance: Slayers TV #13

Zangulus is the wielder of the mystic Howling Sword. Zangulus is a mercenary swordsman, insisting on challenging Gourry Gabriev at every opportunity. Even though he is often against the party, he has a strong sense of honor and often ends up helping them.

Zazan

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 10

Zazan is a minor Mazoku who provides a bit of a nuisance for Lina and Martina.

Zeigram

First Appearance: Slayers NEXT 4

Zeigram proves to be a constant source of annoyance for Lina and the others, showing up periodically to make life difficult for her. I'm not sure as to Zeigram's true motivations, though it does seem that he's out to help deliver Lina to Fibrizo, as most of the other Mazoku are.

Greater Beast Zelas-Metallium

Zelas-Metallium, residing on Wolf Pack Island, is one of the five subordinates to Ruby-Eye Shabranigdu. Unlike the other four, she has given her Priest, Xelloss, the additional military capabilities of a General. Her intentions and motivations are not quite clear, but her war with the other Mazoku shows no sign of abating any time soon.

Zelgadiss Graywords

First Appearance: Slayers TV #2

Zelgadiss is a chimaera - in his case, 1/3 Mazoku, 1/3 golem, and 1/3 human. Find out more about him at zelgadiss.html.

Zolf

First Appearance: Slayers TV 2*/-

When Lina shows up at the Dragon's Fang to claim her treasure, she fireballs the place - with Zolf in it. Known for a short time as the 'Mummy Man,' Zolf eventually joins Lina's side...

Zoom

I don't have a CLUE where Zoom comes from, there seems to be even less information on him than there are about the other characters I saw in Slayers DX...

Zorom

Zorom is the first true Mazoku we encounter in the Slayers anime, and it is from his conversation with Rezo that we learn of the Mazoku hunger for human fear and hatred.
