Sailormoon Omega-Beta

Chapter One: Time of peace, Briefly

It had been several months since the battle between the Sailor senshi and the Omega Master and the Earth had just returned to normal. On the outskirts of Tokyo, however, a group of dark figures were gathered in a clearing, up to unnatural deeds. They were the last clones that survived the battle between the forces of Omega and the Sailor and Shadow senshi, and a dwindled number were they. Standing around in a small circle, one of them sighed and looked at the ground, "Now that the Priests and the Omega Master have been defeated, what are we to do with ourselves?"

"Should we take revenge on the Sailor senshi?"

Another of them smirked heavily and looked at the one who spoke, "Sailor Moon defeated the Master. How good do you think a dozen clones would do against her?"

"Shut up all of you!" One of the clones snarled and stood in the middle of them, looking around to them all. His human form must have been a business man, for he had a very defined face and squinty eyes, likes ones that stared into a computer screen all day, "I think we need a new leader, and I declare myself as the most deserving."

"Why should we follow you?"

The one in the middle stepped into the objector's face, glaring at him coldly, "Because if you don't, I'll kill you. Sound fair?" The one that questioned him swallowed lightly and stepped back. "I'm the new leader and all of you will do exactly what I say. There isn't any negotiations."

"And what are we to call you, oh leader?"

Giving this some thought, he looked at the ground, then smiled, "Fukusha, the new leader of the clones of Omega."

The rest of them reluctantly agreed to this, and one of the clones looked to him in puzzlement, "So what are we going to do, Fukusha?" Fukusha opened his mouth to speak, but a bright light interrupted him before he could say anything. The clones faced the light and readied for a fight as four cloaked figures emerged from the woods, the light fading away from between the trees.

Fukusha narrowed his eyes and stepped forward, "Who are you?" The four figure remained silent, then one of them raised their gloved hand up into the air. Fukusha suddenly lifted into the air also and he started grabbing at his throat, choking heavily for some reason. The other clones stared at this, then to figures in horror, not sure what to do.

"What?" Fukusha spoke hoarsely and blinked, looking at the figures with wide eyes, "I'm the leader and the strongest." The figures looked at each other and then all four raised their hands up also, pointed at him. Fukusha suddenly screamed loudly and fell to the ground, his body twitching as the others looked on. Slowly raising to his feet, he stared at the four in disbelief, then oddly smiled at the figures for some reason.

"What's going on Fukusha?"

With that same devious look on his face, Fukusha eyed the four figures in silent understanding, "Looks like we'll be attacking the Sailor senshi after all." He turned to the clones, who were staring at him in confusion, "These figures are the ones that are going to lead us to victory against the Sailor senshi. They say they are the ones the Omega Master sent to finish the work he started."

"I didn't hear anything."

Fukusha smirked and held his hands to his sides, staring down at them, "They weren't given the ability to speak because of unusual circumstances. They have telepathically linked to me and I will be speaking for them. Fear not though, they inform me they will speak soon enough."

"But how?"

He laughed softly to himself and slowly looked back to the four figures, "After we find the Sailor senshi, everything will fall into place."'

"You're invited to a what?"

Rei winced at Usagi's shrieking, then sighed and rolled her eyes a bit, "My school is having a formal costume ball on Saturday and every student is invited."

As they sat with Minako, sipping drinks in a shopping center, the bustle of the city around them almost drowned out their conversation. Minako sighed dreamily and rested her cheek in her palm, "A formal dance, how romantic."

"I can't wait to go!"

Usagi's cheerful grin almost made this too easy for Rei. She locked her fingers together and rested her chin on them, smiling deviously at Usagi, "What makes you think an odango atama like you be allowed in a dance like this? Besides, it is for students only."

Usagi huffed loudly and hit her hands down on the table, raising out of her chair a bit, "Why wouldn't they let me in?"

"Well, I guess they might consider it when they see you, and give you the award for the best mask."

Steaming furiously at Rei, she twitched and held up a fist to her cheek, "What's that supposed to mean?"

"That your face is better than any mask. Anyway, I said only students are admitted."

"Ugh! My face is not like a mask!"

"Sure it is, it even has wrinkles like a mask." Rei grinned at her, then made Usagi scream and look to her reflection in the window, trying to find wrinkles in her skin. Minako blinked at Usagi as she continued to whine about her wrinkles, then looked at Rei with a smile.

"So, is it going to just be your school?"

Rei looked away from Usagi also and shook her head a bit, "Some all-boy school is coming from across town also."

"An all boy school? How cool!" Usagi broke in, tearing herself away from wrinkle-hunting, "Maybe you can find a guy at the dance."

Rei looked down and smiled weakly, nodding her head, "Yeah, maybe." Minako glared at Usagi and kicked her under the table softly.

Usagi yelped loudly and rubbed her leg, closing one eye and looking at Minako in a whiny tone, "What was that for?" Minako gave her a glare in return and Usagi looked at Rei, realizing what she did, "Oh, I'm sorry Rei, I didn't mean to...."

"It's okay, I'm going to have fun there." Rei cut her off and smiled weakly at the table, making Usagi feel a little better. After a moment, Makoto came into the shop from outside and waved to them. They all saw her and waved her over as well, smiling happily as she walked over and sat down next them.

"Mako-chan, I don't have wrinkles, do I?"

Makoto blinked at the question and looked to Usagi candidly, "Not too many." Usagi shrieked loudly and went back to looking frantically in her reflection, while Makoto looked back at the other girls, "What's going on?" Minako explained to her about Rei's costume ball and made her smile widely, "Sounds like it'll be blast."

"Yeah, I don't know what I will go as though."

Minako grinned happily and laughed a bit to herself, "Why don't you go as Sailor Mars, champion of justice?"

Rei just smirked lightly and shook her head, "I was thinking more along the lines of a formal lady. You know, lovely dress, nice shoes, the works."

Minako suddenly stood up and cheered loudly, "Yeah! We could go buy a new dress today!" Rei nodded to Minako and they both left from the table, planning on the rest of the day to get her costume. They both said their good-byes and left, leaving Makoto looking for a waiter and Usagi searching her face for the elusive wrinkles.

"Right there, by you left eye." Rei called over her shoulder to Usagi as they walked out, making Usagi lean her face to the side and look at her left eye.

"Usagi-chan, you are so easy."

Looking up from her reflection, Usagi blinked at Makoto while she waited for her shake, "What do you mean?"

"Nevermind. Have you seen Ami lately?"

"No, why?"

Makoto just shrugged her shoulders and brushed back some of her hair from her face, "I was going to ask her what she's doing on Saturday."

Usagi thought for a bit, then snapped her fingers and pointed at Makoto, smiling that she remembered, "She told me she was going to the library on Thursday and Saturday for the whole day."

"Oh, all right."

Makoto's sad tone made Usagi blink once more and lower her hand back down, "What are you doing on Saturday?"

"Since Rei has that dance, and everybody else is doing something, I'll probably clean my apartment. Maybe I'll finish my book I'm reading."

"I have to go to my brother's little play with my family." Usagi sighed and dreaded the thought of that. Makoto just nodded and Usagi tilted her head a bit at her, "Mako-chan? Do I really have wrinkles around my eyes?"

"Of course not." Makoto quipped as she looked at the shake that was set down in front of her. Usagi let out a sigh of relief and Makoto lifted the shake to her lips, taking a sip from the straw and smiling, "They're more around your nose than your eyes."

On Saturday night, the costume ball was in full swing as the melodical sounds from the live orchestra filled the air. Hundreds of girls dancing with the invited boys as they played classical pieces flawlessly. However, in the midst of all of this excitement, Rei sat alone in a beautiful red gown at one of the tables, staring into her drink. It isn't that she wasn't having a good time, but that she just didn't feel like dancing at the moment. Another group of costumed boys stumbled awkwardly up to her and one of them stuttered out an invitation to dance.

"I'm not feeling well enough to dance, but thanks anyway guys." That all too famous look of rejection washed over his face and they moped towards another group of girls. Rei let out a sigh and slowly stirred her drink, staring into the liquid in a daze, "I wonder what the others are doing right now. It's got to be better than sitting here staring into this drink."

"Are you all right, Rei?" Rei looked up to find some of the girls from her school, looking at her in concern, "You look so lonely over here, haven't you been asked to dance?"

"I really don't feel like dancing right now."

One of the girls blinked at her and then smiled candidly, "Someone as popular is you shouldn't be sitting over here by herself. Maybe the right guy just hasn't found you yet."

"I'm fine." Rei's sharp tone cut them all off and she stared back down into her drink, stirring it a few more times. The girls took the hint and left her alone, though still kept the worry on their faces. Turning her wrist over slightly, she just stare at the Mars symbol that was engraved on the metal and smiled a bit, "I did have the right guy."

As the music wound to a stop, an older woman got up on the stage and stepped to the microphone, "The next song will be a song written by one of our very own students. Ms. Rei Hino." Everyone in the ball started to applaud and faced Rei where she sat. She blinked a bit, then waved and promptly looked back down to her drink, a little embarrassed. The orchestra started to play 'Oh Starry Night' and couples started to flood onto the dance floor. Rei, however, remained preferably alone.

"May I have this dance?"

The voice that caught her ears seemed oddly familiar and made her almost lose her breath. She looked up and found a masked figure holding his hand out. His hair, his stance, his voice, all of it caused her to almost lose her breath, but she would let herself believe it could be true. She felt a strange feeling sweep over her stomach, followed by the urge to accept, and so she did. Rising to her feet, she stared at the figure and took his hand in silence, unable to find any words in her throat. With steps that echoed the music, he led her out onto the middle of the ballroom floor and turned to her slowly. Long strands of brown hair aided the mask in hiding his identity, and she fell into a trance as he set one arm around her waist. He held her other hand out and began to step with her, leading her around the floor in graceful dance steps. She couldn't shake the feeling that she knew who he was, and it led her to suddenly stumble across one of his feet, "Oops! Sorry."

Looking back to him with a slightly red face, she found him with a light smile and a soft tone, "Think nothing of it." At the sound of his voice, she grew more convinced she knew him and stared at his face, trying to shake the feeling that he was the one person he couldn't possibly be. They continued their dance and a small circle formed of people as they watched this stranger and Rei move gracefully across the ballroom.

Taking in a shaky breath, her heart raced in her chest and she reached up with her free hand, reaching towards his mask, "Tell me who you are." As she did, he pulled his head back slightly and kept his mask out of her reach, but said nothing. His actions made her more suspicious and she smiled softly, letting those fingers trace across his cheek a bit, "Everybody's watching us."

"Let them." She couldn't help but stare up into his familiar face and let her fingers feel the contours of his face. Everything else was forgotten as they moved across the dance floor, his eyes hidden by the mask never leaving her also. As the song ended, he spun her around so her head was next to his and she faced the same way he did, "Was that too callous for your taste?" Her smile widened at his words but before she could say anything, he spun her back and she could feel his hand leaving hers. When she stopped spinning, the song ended and the people mobbed around her in applause. She looked around for him frantically but he had disappeared from her view, making her heart race as she peered around for his figure. She looked toward the exit and his figure walked out the door, though giving her a last look before he did. Pushing through the crowd, she followed after him and finally got to the exit, then burst out into the parking lot, which she founds to be empty.

"Who was that?"

A voice from behind her startled her and she looked back to find one of the girls from her school peeking over her shoulder. She looked around the parking lot one last time, then smiled lightly, "It was him."

"Him who?"

"The one my song is about."

On the warm, sunny day, Ami walked through the park towards the bus stop, her nose dug into a book as usual. After a while, however, she looked across the pond and saw a couple cuddling on a park bench. Still walking but lowering her book a moment, she smiled and remembered all of the times her and Kurai were doing the same in the quietness of the library. She reached the bus stop and sat next to a man covered in a trench coat, hat and sunglasses, idly looking forward with a briefcase in hand. She looked at him strangely because it had to be ninety degrees outside, far too hot for such clothing. Deciding to mind her own business, she looked back down into her book and sighed lightly.

"You look a little down, young lady."

An old man's voice crept out from under his hat and she blinked, looking up at him from her book. An estranged smile washed over her and she closed her book, setting down on her lap, "I was just thinking about someone."

"Your boyfriend?" She looked down at the ground and didn't answer, which made the old man turn to her a bit, "I didn't mean to intrude. It's just, you look like a far too beautiful young lady to look so sad."

She looked back up at him once more and smiled lightly, "I just want him to return, but I don't know if he will."

"Did he say if he would?"

She nodded and looked back to the ground, "He promised to return, but it has been quite a long time since he left."

"Perhaps you should move on."

She blinked at the idea for a moment, taking in his words. Then she shook her head and ran a hand through her blue hair softly, "I don't think so. He was special, and I could never find anybody else like him." She smiled lightly back at him and he nodded, looking back forward as the bus pulls up. Rising to her feet, she clasped her book in front of her and turned her head to him, "Here's the bus."

"Mine is the next one."

"Okay, it was nice talking to you." After bowing to him politely, she walked up the stairs and disappeared onto the bus, leaving the man alone once more. The bus pulled away and the man let out a light sigh. He then took off his hat and ran his fingers through dark strands of blue hair, a large smile crossing over his face. A light chuckle escaped the coat and suddenly, the hat, coat and glasses fell the bench as their contents disappeared.

"I can't believe all of this stuff was on sale." Minako cheered as she looked in her bag after a day of shopping. She then let out a girlish laugh and started to walk home, "When Usagi sees all of the new outfits I bought, she going to be soooo jealous." She was walking alone in downtown where there wasn't a lot of people, the streets fairly empty for the time of day. Suddenly, a man ran by, grabbed her bag and took off with it, leaving her to stare after him, "Hey! Stop thief!" She chased him into an alley where she trapped him, then walked at him in a huff. He turned to her and smiled as she backs him into the alley, "I wouldn't be smiling if I were you. Give me back my bag!" With a devious smile, he whistled and four more guys blocked off the entrance to the alley, all laughing at the girl they trapped.

"Looks like I will get more than just your bag. Let's see the purse."

"Taking care of bullies is more of Makoto's department, but looks like I'll have to do it this time." The one with her bag went to grab her purse when she nailed him with a solid right kick and sent him to the ground in a sprawl. The other four started to rush her and she fought them off, one by one. She sent one of them against the wall, but as he stood up, he pulled out a knife, grinning wickedly. Behind him, a figure in the shadows tapped his shoulder and made him turn in time to see two hands grab him and pull him into the darkness. Minako was fending off the other attackers and knocked the rest of them to the ground with a round kick. With a triumphant grin, she looked to see the other one come skidding out of the darkness to a stop in front of her. He was knocked out cold and she started to say something when the figure that she was chasing grabbed her from behind.

"You fight well, maybe I'll take a kiss too, pretty girl." He laughed and leaned in, his parched lips coming close to her neck as she struggled to get free. Suddenly, he was lifted off the ground by his hair and yelped loudly. The pain made him let go of her and grab at the hand holding him, tears starting to stream down his cheeks. To her surprise, she turned to find a shaded figure in the darkness holding him off the ground. The thief was screaming for help but the others scrambled out of the alley in a panic.

"You guys suck. Say you're sorry to the girl, and I'll let your mop go."

The voice from the figure made Minako blink and the thief stutter in pain while her held onto the figure's arm, "Wh-what?" The figure tightened his grip and the man screamed louder, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" With that, the figure dropped him to the ground with a thud and he crawled across the ground a bit, then stood up, trying not to look so weak, "You're lucky I let you off so easy." Basking in the shadow, two orange eyes glowed a bit and made him run away in a blind panic, calling threats over his shoulder as he did.

Minako just stared to the figure with a smile and stepped toward him, "Thank you, stranger."

To further convince her of his identity, he stepped back a bit and held his hands up, "Eh, you're welcome. You dropped your things." She turned around and saw her purse on the ground, and turned back to find the figure gone from the alley. Looking around in confusion, she noticed a beautiful orange rose floating motionless in the air a few feet from her. Smiling widely, she reached up and took the rose from the air, running her hand along the soft petals.

"At least it wasn't in my hair the whole time again."

In Makoto's apartment, Makoto was fast asleep on her couch with a romance novel laying across her chest. She had an intense look on her face as she was dreaming. Inside her dream, she was walking alone in the park as a light drizzle fell, "I really don't have the best of luck with rain." Looking for some shelter, she pulled her arms around her and spotted a tree some distance from her. She ran under a tree and sat down waiting for the rain to stop, her chin resting on her knees as she sighed. As the rain fell around her and snuck through the leaves of the tree, she sat for a while looking out over the rain drenched park, just thinking about all sorts of things. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a figure standing in the rain, but when she turned to look, the figure was gone. She dismissed it as an illusion but as she looked straight again, she saw the figure disappear behind a tree. This time she blinked a bit and rose to her feet, "Hello?" She walked out into the rain, which was falling a lot harder now. Her hair was soaking wet as were the rest of her clothes as she walked over to the tree where the figure was. Peeking around the trunk, she found no one, so she started to walk over to the tree she was sitting under before. As she approached the tree, a huge bolt of lightning struck the tree and destroyed it into a stump of fire and splinters. She jumped back and blinked in surprise, then suddenly the ground started to shake and the rain came down really hard on her. Lightning and thunder flashed and crashed loudly and the wind picked up as the storm intensified. She was trying to block the wind with her arm as a huge crash of thunder shook the ground and lightning struck all about her, tearing up chunks in the ground everywhere. As the thundered roared, she covered her ears and started to run blindly, trying to find another source of shelter. To her relief, she ran into something and she grabbed it, hoping for some protection from the weather. Just as fast as the bad weather started, it all died back down and only the rain remained, still falling on her lightly. She calmed down and was surprised to find herself holding onto someone's shirt. Jumping away from the person, she tensed up and started to wipe the rain out of her eyes, letting them focus on the figure. She couldn't see him very well because of how dark it was, but a flash of lightning illuminated the drenched face of Super Shadow Jupiter looking back at her coolly. She stepped back in surprise and was speechless, letting the rain just fall on them both.

"Kage? Is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me. They let me come back for a little bit, but I can only be with you in your dreams." Still in a bit of shock, she slowly walked up to him and he held his hand out to her to verify his existence. With a shaky hand, she grabbed his soft palm and felt how real his was, then let out a soft whimper and leaped forward, holding him tightly. Breathing heavily in his chest, she just enjoyed a silent moment, and he slowly put his arms around her as well.

"I'm so glad to see you."

Smiling down at her, he just idly pulled some of her soaked hair from her face and brushed it back affectionately, "Even if it is a dream, at least we're together."

She just smiled and sniffled a bit, pressing her face into him even more as she held to him, "I never want to leave from here."

"Neither do I but," His face suddenly dimmed a bit as the only reason he was allowed to visit her was remembered. Looking forward into the distance, the rain fell on his coldly and he winced a bit, "The Sailor senshi are gonna face a new threat, Makoto."

Her eyes opened quickly and she stared out at nothing, but still didn't let go of him, "What threat?"

"I can't tell you, but you have to be strong to fight this enemy. Only Sentaku knows, but he won't tell us, not even Yamito. It sounds bad." She finally looked up at him and he stared off at nothing still, the concern evident in his eyes. Then he slowly looked back to her, a smile coming over his features that made her go weak in the knees. Without a word, he ran his fingers through her hair and she felt her brown strands fall down over her shoulders. He looked at her a moment and pressed the band into her hand, "Up or down, you'll always be beautiful. My beautiful soldier." Red hues burned across her face and her eyes became locked in his, her heart fluttering at the touch of his hands. In that cold rain, their faces grew closer together, threatening to give her the long-awaited kiss. As their lips drew near, she pressed her eyes closed and waited for his lips, but instead was met by his quiet words, "I love you, Makoto." A crash of lightning woke Makoto up as a real storm moved in across Tokyo. She quickly looked outside and blinked at the rain pelting her window, then realized it was just a dream. Then she felt something weird between her fingers and looked down at her hand where she found her hair band. At the same time, she felt her hair down on her shoulders and smiles lightly, leaning back into her couch and resting her hands on her chest. Tears filled her eyes at the realization that it wasn't just a dream as the storm outside brewed in the sky.
