Sailormoon Omega-Omega

Chapter One: As Normal as it Gets

At the Hikawa Jinja the cool, autumn day was passing as Yuuchiro was busy sweeping some dirt off of the steps. To break the monotony he suddenly came across Rei sitting on one of them, staring into the sky. She didn't even seem to notice that he was standing there and he cautiously approached her. Trying to break her out of this mood he quietly sat next to her, though she didn't even look over at him. He sighed lightly and looked up into the sky as well and they sat there immersed in silence. Finally, he broke the silence.

"You know Rei, things really aren't all that bad. You've been like this for days. I can't seem to understand what's wrong." She still kept looking of into the sky and didn't answer him, which made him a bit concerned, "Rei-chan, please! Say something!" Still receiving no answer, he sighed and stood up, ready to stomp away in a huff, "Fine! I can't even to get you to talk to me. Things could be a lot worse, you know. If you want to sit here in silence forever, I won't bother you!"

"Yuuchiro."

Her soft voice made him stop and look down at her, and, surprisingly, she was smiling as she looked up to him, "I'm sorry for being so quiet. I just have a lot on my mind. I hope you can understand that there is a lot going on in my life right now and I have to try and deal with it."

While he was happy to see her smile again, he still felt worried and she rose to her feet quietly. As she pushed the wrinkles from her robes, he rubbed his head a bit and sighed, "I know you have a lot going on and I want to help. I'm here for you, Rei. If you want to yell at me for any reason, I'm here. I miss you yelling at me."

Glad she had such a caring friend, she nodded and smiled a little, clasping her hands in front of her. They looked between each other in silence and he was happy to spend some time with her, if only cut short by her looking tired again, "I......have to go check up on him. Could you finish sweeping the grounds for me?"

He broke out of his stare and shook his head, thrusting the broom at her, "I said you could yell at me. I didn't say I would do your chores."

"Hey! You said you were there for me!"

Almost as is things were back to normal, she huffed at him and wanted to reach out and pound him. Suddenly, he got a giddy tone in his voice and hugged her, smiling widely over her shoulder, "Oh man, I missed you Rei."

A deep shadow cast over her eyes and she twitched, a large sweatdrop rolling down her head, "Does this mean you will do my chores?"

"Sorry, you're on your own."

With that, he let go and bounded away before she could catch him, of which she was quick to chase him yelling, "Yuuchiro! You come back here!"

He went running by a room marked with a sign that said, 'Quiet! Do not disturb!', and she slowed to a stop right in front of it, watching him disappear around the corner. Letting out a slow breath she turned to the door and slowly opened it, stepping in with great reverence. She closed the door very quietly and tippy-toed over to a bed in the middle of the room, kneeling down next to a gathering of blankets on the floor and flipping a dim lamp on to reveal the beaten figure of Dark Shadow Mars. As the light came over his bruised face she looked back from the lamp and saw his eyes were open, staring blankly at the ceiling. She was a bit shocked at this and leaned forward a bit, "Yamito?"

"That is a matter of opinion."

Feeling a little relieved he was awake she set her hands on the bed in front of her and looked at him with a weak smile, "How do you feel?"

"Like a fool."

His sudden remorseful tone made her frown a bit and she reached out affectionately, pulling some of his hair from his face, "Everyone makes mistakes, Yami. Even the mighty Shadow Mars."

"Unfortunately, judgment reserved for us will not be so kind."

That remark made her blink at him but say nothing, figuring he would get over it soon enough. Suddenly he strained a bit and tried to sit up, of which she abruptly caught his chest and held him down, "No! Don't sit up. You're very weak and need time to rest!"

Disturbed that she was literally holding him down, he laid back on the padding and sighed, closing his eyes a moment, "Where are the others?"

"Well, Kurai is over at Ami's resting, Kage is staying at Makoto's and Suteki is...."

"Over at Minako's. Yes, I get the picture."

Again he tried to sit up which again she tried to keep him down, "You can't sit up! I spent all day yesterday patching you up and I won't have you getting any more hurt." Being as stubborn as he was, he succeeded in pushing through her and sat up, which made her a little upset, "Why are you so stubborn?"

"There's the kettle calling the pot black. I won't heal by sitting around. I need to move." Giving him an annoyed look, she just watched as he raised his arm into the air and winced as pain shot through his body, "Just.....slowly."

A light smirk crossed her face and she tried not to smile too widely, "Just don't go trying to fly around or back flips or anything."

"I'll stick to front flips." He smirked back and started to pull the covers from over him. All while she watched he pushed himself up and tried to stand, though he did wobble quite a bit. His difficulty made her stand quickly and put her hands towards him to help, though he quickly raised his own hand, "I can do it." With a sigh she stepped back and he stood straight, though soon put a hand to his head and wobbled even worse. She quickly grabbed him this time and held him up, for which she received a soft look and a quiet tone, "All right, maybe a little help." A told-you-so look came over her face and she felt happy when he held to her shoulders light for help. Though it was soon replaced as she closed her eyes and sucked in air between her teeth. The very odd reaction made him blink and tilt his head a bit, "What was that about?"

"Nothing." She shook it off quickly and loosened her fists, looking away a bit. Not believing that he reached over and turned the lamp over to her, then moved her shirt from her shoulder to reveal a dark bruise and some cuts. Oddly she didn't do anything for a moment and he looked at them silently until finally she shoved his hand away and covered her shoulder again.

He lowered his hand slowly and looked to her face with a surprisingly concerned look, "Looks like I'm not the only one who got hurt."

"You're in a lot worse shape than me." Slowly letting her go he stood of his own accord and let out a slow breath. She couldn't help but smile a little at his fast recovery, but then shook her head and stepped back a bit, "There, you're standing up. Now take it easy around the temple and don't leave. And leave Yuuchiro alone, all right?"

"No promises." His little quip made her giggle and turn towards the door, of which he quickly objected and held his side loosely, "Where are you off to?"

"I'm going to the market. I'll be back in a few hours and you better be here when I get back or I'll really hurt you."

"I'll do better than that. I'll come with you."

He took a few shaky steps after her and she looked back him with a really annoyed look on her face, "No! You're not going, Yamito!"

"How are you going to stop me?" His rather cold look made her steam a bit and cross her arms and he casually let out a sigh, "I can't stay in this place. I have to get out and stretch my legs. Besides, if I stay here, I can't promise I won't do something to Yuuchiro."

Knowing that was not exactly a joke, she huffed loudly and gave him a stern look, "Fine, but if you start to feel weak, we're coming back here."

"Fair enough."

"I will go get you some clothes. We can't have you going around the market in that."

Looking down, he saw his torn and burned pants barely staying on him and only the bandages over his ribs, right leg and a red-stained one over his shoulder covered his beaten body. With a sigh at the events that took place which caused his pants to be this way, he nodded and started back towards the blankets, leaving her to watch him with a light smile before heading out to find him some clothing.

"Ugh, where....?" Dark Shadow Venus struggled as he sat on a bed in a dark room alone. Feeling the stinging pain he held his hand up to a bandage on his forehead and winced, "Owww, where am I?" Rubbing the bandage on his forehead a bit more, he was getting a bit on edge when a bright light shined into the room as someone opened the door and looked at him.

"Oh, Minako! He's awake!"

One of those blue eyes closed and turned his head a bit, blocking the light with his arm, "Who's there?"

"My, Suteki, you had us worried for a while. Even the doctor said it looked bad."

The voice sounded familiar and he blinked in confusion, trying to see who the figure was, "Doctor? Where am I?"

"Why, at our home. You must have fallen a long ways to get that hurt."

"Fallen? What are you........" He trailed off a bit as the room started to spin a bit, making him hold his head. Finally, another voice filled the air and he knew it instantly.

"Mom? Is he.......Suteki!"

"Sai......I mean, Minako?" Almost slapping himself for being so careless, he stumbled with his words and rubbed his eyes a bit while trying to get his bearings on the room.

Minako walked into the bed and plopped down next to him, making him bounce a bit on the bed, "Uh huh. It's good to see you're awake, Suteki."

"What's going on here? What's this about a doctor and falling?"

A sheepish smile crossed Minako's face and she looked at the other person, "Uhm, Mom? Could you go get him a glass of water?"

"Of course." He finally understood who it was and watched her leave the room with a smile. Then he looked at Minako and blinked in confusion, "What's this about a fall?"

Minako went a bit cross-eyed and poked her two index fingers together as she explained her little sin, "Well, since I couldn't very much tell her you got hurt fighting some evil clones, I told her we were rock climbing and you fell down part of the hill. I said I slid a little as well to explain my cuts and bruises. It was only a little white lie."

A sweatdrop rolled down his head and he looked to sees some scrapes on her neck and arms as well, though he was more concerned with one other thing, "What doctor?"

"It's our family doctor. We couldn't have you go to the hospital because, they might find out things that we don't want them to."

From a shelf above the bed Artimus hopped down onto the bed and sat, looking at him. Shadow Venus looked at him slowly and sighed, still rubbing the bandage on his head, "It's a good thing I wasn't awake. I hate doctors."

Artimus looked at him wearily but Minako smiled happily and placed her hands on her lap, "Well, since you're awake now, how do you feel?"

"My shoulders are really sore."

Artimus shook his head a bit and looked at him with a tilted head, "No wonder, the doctor said you broke your collar bones and your shoulder blade on the right side. It's amazing that you can even move right now."

"I guess being Darkened makes me heal faster. Ugh, my whole body feels like one bad bruise."

"Well, I have a solution. If you feel good enough, my mom could take us up to the mountains for a little while. There are hot springs up there that are supposed to have healing powers." Minako suggested and looked at him hopefully, though Artimus was pretty shocked at that suggestion as he looked at her blinking. Shadow Venus gave her a confused look and continued to rub his bandage.

"You want me to go with you to hot springs up in the mountains?"

He was taken back at her forgiving him so easily and she smiled widely, nodding her head quickly, "No one within fifty miles, sitting in the silence of nature. We could have lunch and you could rest all day." As if by reaction he looked away slightly and winced, not believing it could be so easy to make things the way they were. After a moment of thinking he sighed lightly and shrugged, which really didn't feel so good on his shoulders.

"Why not?"

She cheered loudly and hopped off the bed, overcome with excitement at the idea, "Great! I'll go ask. You get dressed and pack your shorts." Before he had a chance to change his mind she left out of the room quickly with a skeptical Artimus behind her.

"You think it's such a good idea to go up there alone with him? He is still one of the bag guys, you know."

As she walked down the stairs she looked back at him and sighed, "Come on, Artimus. The only way I can turn them back is to remind him of what we had. I want to spend time with him. You know the old saying, even old....."

The little cat felt a botched cliche coming on and quickly interrupted her as he stayed up on the middle of the stairs, "All right, I'm convinced! Just be careful and don't go quoting bad cliches to him."

"Huh, thanks for the advice." Huffing at his interruption she glared at him as she walked into the kitchen, then got a happy smile on her face, "Mom, I have a question for you."

Ami was reading quietly next Dark Shadow Mercury, waiting for him to wake up and had been sitting there for almost three hours now. Feeling the weight of her commitment to him she set the book down and yawned, then looked at the clock on the dresser, "Oh my, it's eleven o'clock. I had better go make some snacks for my study session." As she stood up she looked down at the wounded Shadow Mercury and smiled weakly, happy to have him back again. She quietly leaned over and kissed him on his forehead, then went to leave out of the room but was caught by a weak voice.

"I can't believe you would lower yourself into kissing a traitor."

Blinking wildly she turned around quickly and found him slightly awake but looking up at the ceiling, "Kurai? Are you awake?"

"Yes, though I wish I still was asleep. Being awake is painful."

A wave of relief washed over her and she clasped her hands in front of her, looking down at him with a light smile, "You had me worried. It's good to hear your voice again, Kurie."

"Where are the others?"

"With the others. You all were in pretty bad shape."

His tone took away from her joy, however, as he closed his eyes slowly, "It must have been your idea, then." She blinked and was about to ask him what he meant by that when he answered her before she could speak, "Keeping us away from each other is a wise move. Unnecessary, but wise."

Hoping he was going to wake up without his negative attitude and being disappointed made her face dim a bit, "That's not it at all. We just thought taking you to different places would arouse less suspicion."

"Mmmhm. I will inform you that when I've healed I will set out to find Yamito once more. Our business is hardly finished."

She still couldn't understand how he could still be so determined to fight but she managed to smile weakly, "Well, we won't have to worry about that for a while, will we? You are in no shape to fight."

Seeming a little annoyed at her he looked off into the darkness of the room, "Don't you have a study group to go to?"

"At the library. You could come and read a little while I study, if you feel up to it."

Hoping to get at least a little warmth she was greeted with his biting tone, "I have no time to go read books at the moment."

Her spirits dropped and her vision started to blur a little, but she managed to nod and stay positive, "All right, I'll be back. I hope you will still be here when I do." Feeling she would cry if she stayed she hurried towards the door to leave, except she was stopped by his voice once again.

"Once again, Ami-chan, I'm sorry." Surprised to hear those words from him now she turned around and looked at him with a blink. He still stared off into the darkness and twitched a bit, but was sincere about his apology, "I don't want you to be mad. I'm very grateful to you and your mother for taking care of me. I'm also glad to have you to look out for me." Her smile bloomed and he opened his eyes a bit and turned his head to look at her. She just stared down at him and he stared right back, sharing a moment of silence that said a million words. It was broken, however, by a sound and a voice coming from downstairs.

"Ami? I'm home."

Ami just turned her head a bit and called down to her mother, "I'm up here!"

As she looked back his eyes were closed once more and he smiled weakly, resting in the knowledge that he was taken care of, "I will be here when you get back from studying."

Nodding lightly she smiled and left the room, walking down the stairs with a flutter in her chest. Her mom was at the bottom of the stairs and she noticed the smile on her daughter's face, which made her smile also, "Ami?"

"Yes?"

"So, is Kurai all right?"

Ami smiled a bit more and nodded as she got to the bottom of the stairs, "Yes, he's awake now."

"He is? Do you know if he's hungry?"

Nodding to her mom she looked up the stairs and couldn't believe he was really up there, "I think so. I need some sandwiches for study group as well."

"All right." Her mom patted her arm affectionately and started into the kitchen to make sandwiches, "So, is Kurai starting to feel normal again? There must have been so many people he was trying to defend you from to get that badly hurt. I hope the police can do something about them."

"Normal?" Ami said almost to herself and looked upstairs with hope burning in her eyes, "I can only hope."

"So, what is this again?"

"Chicken soup with aroma rice." Makoto smiled sweetly at Dark Shadow Jupiter and set a small table on his lap while he sat on her couch. With a worried look on his face he glanced at it and then back at her, who cheered loudly and knelt by the couch with her chin resting on her hands, "Go on! Eat it! It'll make you feel better." He again looked down at it and sighed, then took the spoon and dipped in the bowl. She watched him happily and winked to him, "That's a secret recipe that heals an aching body."

Shrugging lightly he stuck the spoon in his mouth and tasted the soup, then suddenly wheezed and coughed violently, "What's in this!?"

Placing a finger to her chin in thought she thought for a moment and tapped her finger a bit, "Well, it has horseradish, Thai, Cheyenne and some other stuff to give some kick."

"Some kick? Yamito has never hit me with anything this hot!"

A smirk crossed her face and she looked back to him with a motherly tone, "Don't complain. It's great for healing your body. Now finish what you have."

He blinked at her and looked down to it, chuckling nervously, "Do I have to?"

"You know for being the big, bad Shadow senshi......you're a wimp, ai."

Now he smirked at her and held the bowl towards her, "Wimp? Why don't you have some of this?"

A huge, sheepish grin crossed her face and she rubbed the back of her head, laughing nervously, "Oh, uh, I already had some."

"Yeah, I bet."

A solemn look passed over him and he set the bowl in his lap, stirring it and looking at the contents. She watched him and smiled a bit, glad to have him back in her life again. Trying to start a conversation made her look to his head a moment tilt her own head in curiosity, "So, what's with your hair?"

"What about it? Why is it white?"

She shook her head and made some of her own long strands toss around a bit, "Uhm, no, not that. How do you get it to stick up like that?"

"Oh, that. Static electricity, I guess. Kind of like a permanent gel or something."

Kind of understanding that she flipped her hand through the white strands and shrugged, "I've never seen you with your hair down. Even the whole time you were asleep, it stuck up."

"That's because it hasn't been down in about two years." A hopeful look in her eye she looked at him as if to ask and he sighed, shrugging his shoulders a bit, "All right, I don't know why though. I look like a dork." His comment made her giggle a bit and he let out a slow breath, and strands of his hair started to waver and fall down to his brow. Finally, his hair fell down into his face, making him look very different and shook his head a bit, "See?"

She smiled and lifted it from in front of his eyes, leaning over a bit to look at him, "I think you look very handsome."

"Well, that makes one of us." He looked almost embarassed and she laughed a little at the way he was looking at her, and it made him miff lightly, "Okay, enough of this." His hair started to raise back up and she giggled more as the strands tickled her fingers, and soon his white strands where back up into the air. He smoothly ran his hands through it and nodded, "There, now how about some of that delicious cheesecake you always made?"

Once more she spoke in a very motherly tone as she shook his finger at him and smirked, "Cheesecake won't help your aching body."

"No, but my mouth will feel good for a while."

"Fine, don't eat the soup. You'll regret it later. I'll go find you a piece of cake." She sighed and lifted the bowl out of his lap, then rose to her feet while smirking at him. She walked into the kitchen and started to go through her refrigerator, trying to make him happy, "Ah ha! Here we go. My last piece."

He was almost brought to tears when she brought it and sat it in his lap, "I've missed your cooking." With greedy bites he devoured the slice, making her sweatdrop a bit at him. She couldn't help but smile and sit in silent satisfaction while watching him eat it though. As he took the last bite and set the fork down he rubbed his belly and grinned happily, "It's funny, your clone couldn't cook at all. She would always serve burned....." Noticing her face dim at the mention of her clone he blinked and looked to the side a bit, "Oh, guess you don't want to hear about that."

She just picked up the plate and started back into the kitchen though calling over her shoulder to him, "I hate to ask you this but, were you and her ever......intimate?"

"If you hate to ask.....don't."

From inside the kitchen she set the plate down and stared at her reflection in the dishwater a moment, then started towards the bathroom with a quick step, "I'm going to take a bath."

Feeling a little cheated she crossed the den in front of him, one of her hands brushing her hair back but really to hide the pain growing in her eyes. As she got to the door his voice caught her and made her stop, "No."

Looking at him slowly, she took in a quick breath and spoke, her voice quivering a bit, "No what?"

"No, I wasn't intimate with her. She may be your exact copy, but she wasn't you." He wasn't looking at her but she could tell he wasn't lying. Nodding slowly she went into the bathroom and shut the door, looking in the mirror and letting a happy smile sneak out.
