The Battle Frame is used when heavy ground combat is expected by the Nadesico. It can be used for cover fire or full-frontal assault. Its armor is heavy enough to resist most of the Jovian ground weaponry, but not enough to truly hinder maneuverability. The standard lower leg frame of the Aestivalis has been slightly modified for the addition of recoil braces and heavy thrusters, while the hands have been replaced by tri-fingered pincers. Although the machine usually transports only one 120mm cannon, two can be used if need be.
