I can really relate to your article. I had those same feelings of wanting to be blond and blue eyed. For a long time, I never thought I was pretty, because I thought the "ideal" beauty was to be fair skinned, have light coloured hair and be tall. All t e movies I watched and magazines I read had these goregous western women portrayed in them, I would always feel so ugly. Now that I am older, I no longer think this way and am proud of my Chinese heritage. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live in a country where Asians are the majority and be fully surrrounded by everything Asian. I think I would find it a bit eird at first. I don't have many close Asian friends and have never had an Asian boyfriend. Many of them don't want to have anything to do with me, because I am too westernised, and I find this very hurtful and bewildering. I get more acceptance from my non Asian friends and workmates. They see me as being Australian and not Asian and are not judgmental. I wish everyone would see past the race, the colour the exterior and look within, look at the heart, because that is where the beauty of that person lies.

Hello, I read your comments and found them quite interesting. Sounds like you're caught between two worlds. I have enjoyed the Chinese and Oriental people I have met. I(white male) am married to a Vietnamese professional lady the same age as me and we are quite happy. Sometimes the races other than white are more racist and intolerant than we are. Racism comes in all colours. I have noted a trend towards blending of the races in the Toronto area. Drive past any high school and look at the couples. In one o two generations we will be largely a blended homogeneous mass for better or worse. My wife's Vietnamese family have been very nice to me. I haven't seen any traces of resentment towards me. Rather they have accepted me as part of their family in the orie tal way.Answer me if you'd like to. Tom

For anyone having difficulty on AOL pulling up the the page to sign the guestbook, switch over to to the straight Internet Explorer icon on your desk top menu and put in the URL for signing the guestbook. AOL for some reason is not supporting the HTML co ing placed for directing you to sign this particular guest book. Here's a question, what prompted you to want to be caucasion and what all prompted you to eventually change your mind about this and develop your current appreciation for your own ethnic origins?
