Haruka's Anime/Manga Race

Haruka loves speed. Here we have a list of the main differences between the anime and manga, no more than 5 per series. Truth be told, there are tons more than I have listed here, but these are some of the more important ones:

Sailor Moon
  • The nijuishou (rainbow crystals) don't exist. They were created by the anime company to expand the series.
  • When the Sailor Senshi travel to the moon (on their own will, not suddenly with the crescent wand's power like in the anime, they find a stone sword in the ground. This sword is supposed to be used to protect the princess.
  • Beryl and Metallia do not merge for the final battle. Sailor Venus kills Beryl with the sword, and Metallia faces off with Sailor Moon.
  • The Silver Millennium (it's a place, not a time) is recreated by Sailor Moon and the ginzuishou's power. Usagi had the chance to take over the kingdom, but she chose to go back to her life on Earth instead and stay with Mamoru and her friends. The senshi never lost their memories as they did in the anime.

Sailor Moon R (Returns or Romance): Black Moon
  • The aliens and the Doom Tree (whatever its called in japanese, I forgot><) never existed. This is another filler for the anime used to give a chance for Naoko to further the manga.
  • Tuxedo Kamen NEVER TOSSES A SINGLE ROSE throughout the whole series. He gains an attack, though: Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber.
  • Chibi-Usa is around 900 years old, and she carries the future ginzuishou around. It's not hidden inside of her like it was in the anime. Instead of having too much power, Chibi-usa suffers from a lack of it in the manga. She doesn't grow, she stopped growing suddenly and she doesn't have the power to change.
  • Pluto uses the forbidden Time Stop to keep Demando from joining the two ginzuishou and destroying everything. Since it was forbidden, Pluto dies, and Black Lady remembers how Pluto was her true friend. Black Lady starts to cry, and her black crystal earrings shatter. Her tears turn into the ginzuishou. She turns into Sailor ChibiMoon. In the anime, Pluto was never at the battle, Demando died already, and Sailor Moon turned into NeoQueen Serenity. Then she talked to ChibiUsa, who turned normal and turned into a princess with the ginzuishou's power.
  • ChibiUsa returns to the 20th century, interrupting Usagi and Mamoru's kiss with a letter from Neo-Queen Serenity saying she's there to train to be a Sailor Senshi. In the anime, she doesn't return or become ChibiMoon until Sailor Moon S.

Sailor Moon S (Super): Mugen (Infinity)
  • Uranus and Neptune are not after the heart crystals, they are searching for the third Talisman.
  • The Witches 5 have one shot deals, unlike in the anime. As for Tomoe, Super Sailor Moon kills him and he is never revived like he is in the anime.
  • The three Talismans call Saturn to awaken, rather than forming the Holy Grail in the anime. The Holy Grail in the manga is a combination of the powers of Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
  • Hotaru, unlike in the anime, is a cyborg. She has many robotic body parts, due to the experimenting her father did on her. Tomoe wanted to create a race of superhuman cyborgs (rah!). He started with Hotaru, but he screwed up.
  • Pluto stays until the very end of Sailor Moon S, not dying like she did in the anime (she stopped a plane explosion to save Uranus and Neptune with the Time Stop and died in the anime).

    Sailor Moon SuperS: Dream
  • Hotaru regains her memories, grew even bigger than she normally did after her rebirth (she was about a 3-4 year old's size in 6 months) and she gave the Outer Senshi their heart crystals. They all say "Planet Crystal Power Make Up."
  • Mamoru has the Golden Crystal inside of him, rather than it being the horn of Elios.
  • The Sailor Senshi get the ability to transform into their Super forms, generally from their guardians. Rei and Minako are exceptions. Rei gets her crystal from the human Phobos and Deimos. Minako gets hers from the human Artemis. In the end of Volume 15, the senshi also receive their Sailor Star and Princess forms. Sailor Moon gains her final form as Eternal Sailormoon.
  • The Amazoness Quartet are Sailor Senshi. After they are sealed in balls by Zirconia, Neo-Queen Serenity frees them. They then are revealed to be the Sailor Quartet, and then they swear to protect ChibiUsa in the future. In the anime, the Quartet becomes normal girls.

    Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: Stars
  • Chaos is from the Cauldron, a place where all stars are formed. All the Sailor Senshi are created there too. Sailor Moon is related to all the enemies she killed previously in a sense. The enemies were alternate forms of herself who wanted her power from her ginzuishou. There are a unlimited number of senshi, unlike in the anime.
  • Galaxia dies, instead of being healed by Serenity.
  • ChibiChibi is Sailor Cosmos, and can talk on her own later on in the manga, unlike in the anime where she could only speak for herself in the last episode.
  • Unlike in the anime, at the end of the manga, Usagi and Mamoru get married. Usagi takes the throne of the 30th century at age 22.
