Author's Note: This take place 4 years after Alex is born. Serena 
is 21 and Darien is 25. All of da Senshi are also 21.

MAKING SACRIFICES(Part 5)

"Mama?", Four year old Alex called to Serena. It was a rainy day in 
San Francisco and little Alex stared out the window.
"Yeah baby?", Serena answered as she read her paperwork. Serena was 
still working in the Consevatory but was studying to become an 
interior decorator. As she sat in the simple but tasteful apartment 
Alex turned on the television.
"How come I don't have any relatives?", He asked curiously. This made 
Serena look up from her work.
"Sit down Honey", She said while beckoning him to the couch. "What 
made you ask that question?" He looked up at her with his big blue 
eyes. Alex had turned out to be a miniature Darien. He had the same 
black coal hair and their facial features were similar.
"Brian in preschool said that he was visiting his relatives for summer
vacation", He informed her. "How come we don't visit anyone?"
"As a matter a fact you do have relatives", She said and his face lit 
up. "You have a Grandpa and Grandma. Also a Uncle"
"Really?!", He said excitedly. "How come we don't visit them then?"
"We haven't really had the time or money"
"Mama can puh-leeze visit them this summer?", He begged in an
adorable voice. Alex made puppydog eyes at her. She recalled doing
that to Darien to get her way. Now her kid was using the same method.
How ironic! But she couldn't resist it and knew it she wouldn't refuse.
"After you go to sleep. I'll make some calls, okay?", She said to him.
It was getting late so Serena went to her room to change to her pajamas 
while Alex watched Television. She looked at her image in mirror. Her 
meatballs were gone and she wore her hair down. Serena had it cut to 
above her butt and curled it at the tips. Her hair was taking on a 
brighter blond and she had grown taller. Her body completely matured.
Her eyes still it's blue color but the childish glint had disappeared
replaced with a mautred glow. They looked the same to her. Would her
family be able to know who she was. Would the Senshi? Or Darien?
Serena kept no pictures of them just the ones in her mind. She 
realized at that moment it was time to go back.

"Night Sweetie", Serena said kissing Alex on his forehead.
"Night Mommy", He said and before she could leave he called to her.
"Can you turn the locket on please?". On Alex's nightstand laid the 
locket Darien had given Serena long ago. She had given it to Alex 
awhile back, a token of her love for him. What was strange was that 
the music changed from a romantic tune to a lullaby when she gave it 
to him. Opening it a melodic tune fulled the air and Alex's eyes closed.
Serena made her way to her bedroom and picked up the phone. Hesitating
she took a breath and dialed the number. It rang a few times and then
a lady's voice answered.
"Hello?", The lady said and Serena eyes filled with tears.
"Mom? Is that you?", She asked as her voice quivering.
"Serena? Honey is it really you?", Her mom said and she sounded as if 
she was in tears.
"It's really me Mom.I've missed you",she answered through her tears.
"I been so worried.Where are you?",Ilene asked her voice thick with
emotion.
"San Francisco",Serena respnded."Mom I was wondering if I could
come back for summer vacation in a week"
"Oh course Darling. Your Father and I missed you", She told her. "Even
Sammy"
"How's dad and Sammy?", Serena asked. "Fine but your Father is still 
tense about you leaving"
"Oh"
"Serena honey", Her mom said. "Why did you leave?"
"When I come back I'll tell you", She answered. "I hope you forgive me"
"Of course we forgive you. We love you Serena"
"I love you too", She said. "I'll see you in a week Mom"
"Okay honey" 
"Bye Mom"
"Bye Serena"

The plane landed and Serena tensed up. She was home again and was so 
nervous.Her stomach had butterflies and she was sweaty. Alex sat next 
to her in anticipation and excitement. His young face was alive with 
happiness and his looked cute in his jeans and Old Navy t-shirt. He 
clicked his Nike shoes together as his wiggled about. Serena wore a 
black skirt and a three quarter sleeved shirt baby blue shirt. On her 
feet she wore black heels. Taking their carry on baggage they got off 
the plane. After retrieving their luggage they hailed a taxi. Serena 
swallowed a lump in her throat as they passed many places in her memory.
The Arcade where she use to play The Sailor V Game...The lake where 
Darien took her once....The ice cream parlor..Finally they arrived at 
her house,as she got out she looked up at her house. The place where 
she spent half her life. Carrying their luggage she walked up to her 
front door.
"This is mommy's old house", She told Alex and he looked intently at 
his surroundings. Before she knocked she squatted to Alex's height and
clean him up making sure he looked presentable. Then standing up 
straightened her skirt and rang the bell. Her heart was pounding and 
a man with graying brown hair and glasses answered, behind him a pretty 
woman with blue hair with streaks of gray looked at her.
"Serena?", Her father said and tears filled his eyes. "Is that you?"
"Yeah Daddy it's me", She answered and he held out his arms to her. She 
gladly welcomed his embraced and he held tighly.
"I've worried so much about you", He said to her and pulled her back to 
look at her. "You've grown to be so beautiful.
"Thank you dad", Serena said through her tears. Her mom came to her and 
wrapped her arms around her daughter. "Mama I've missed you horribly"
"Me too, my darling", Her mom responded kissing her forehead. A handsome
teenage boy ran down the stairs.
"Serena is that you?", He asked and then ran to her.
"Yes Sammy it's me. Your big sister", Serena told him and grabbed him 
into a big bear hug. A cough was heard and everyone turned around to 
see Alex looking at them. His face was filled with curiousity and 
wonder as he watched the scene unfold before him.Everyone then looked 
at Serena and she took the little boy by the hand to her parents.
"Mom, Dad", She said. "This is Alex. My son" She glanced at her parent
nervously but then her mom squatted to Alex's height.
"Hi Alex. Do you know who I am?",her mother asked and the boy face 
spread into a smile.
"Yup your my Grandma", He told her in a matter of fact of way. Then he
wrapped his arms around his Grandma's neck and hugged her. He kissed 
her on the cheek and Ilene's eyes misted. She smiled proudly at Serena.
"I'm a your Grandpa, Alex", Ken said and the child ran to him and 
hugged his Grandpa. Ken scooped him up in his arms obviously smitten 
by his charming grandson. "He's like you Serena". He smiled at her and
kissed her cheek.
"I'm glad you're back Honey". Sammy went up to them.
"How about I take him for Ice Cream",Sammy suggested. Alex immediatly 
gave him a hug. "Would like that Alex?"
"Thanks Uncle Sammy!", Alex exclaimed and Sammy looked at his nephew 
with obvious pride. They were out the door in minutes. Serena was alone 
with her parents and they guided her to the living room. She looked 
around with a nostalgic feeling.
"Honey I would like to know a few things", Her mom said. "Who is Alex's 
father and why did you leave?"
"Mom, Dad", She said them and took their hands. "Alex's father is 
Darien". With that out of the way she began to tell her story.

Darien sat in the counter of the ice cream parlor. His friend Andrew
worked there and he liked to visit him. Someone entered the resturant
and he looked up. A tall, muscular teenage boy was holding the hand
of a black, haired 4 year old.
"What would like Alex?", The boy asked.
"Chocolate,Uncle Sammy", The little boy responded.
Sammy where had he heard that name before. Sammy was Serena's brother!
He had grown a lot and his face was more shapley. Who was the boy? The
kid said Uncle Sammy so it was a nephew of his. The little boy sat on 
the stool and spinned happily around. Darien and the boy made eye
contact and a strange feeling went up his spine. The boy looked like
him except smaller. Sammy handed the boy his ice cream and they left.
Strange, he thought. It was like he knew the kid or something.

The next day the Senshi sat in Raye's Temple. All of them had a
feeling something was gonna happen.
"Serena's back you guys", She said and they all looked at her.
"You're getting good Raye",a voice commented. They all turned around to
see a beautiful woman with blond hair above her butt and sky blue eyes.
She was tall and thin wearing a long black sundress with a white
cardigan tied to her waist. She wore white tennis shoes and straw hat
with a black sash around it. A little boy with raven hair and blue
eyes stood next to her wearing black shorts, a red Nike shirt, and
Nike shoes.
"Serena?", Ami asked and the girl nodded. Tears in her eyes. They 
couldn't believe that this mature woman was their friend.
"Serena! I missed you like crazy!" Ami hugged her and cried.
"You're so beautiful", Mina exclaimed and hugged her then kissed her 
cheek. "I can't believe it's you"
Lita grabbed and swung around. "You had us going crazy, Serena! Don't 
ever do that to us again"
Raye approached her looking angry at first but tears fell from her 
eyes. "It's been hard without you Serena. I missed you"
With that she hugged her tightly and Serena did the same.
"Mama?", The little boy said. "Who are these ladies?" Everyone looked 
at Serena in shock.
"Surprise", She said sheepishly and blushed. "Why don't you play in 
the front? Don't go any place where I can't see you" Alex ran out to 
play in the trees.
"MAMA!", They all exclaimed.
"He's adorable Serena", Ami commented."How old is he?"
"Four"
"You left 4 years ago", Lita said.
"I know I did"
"When did you get pregnant?", Mina asked.
"I can't really remember", She answered in nonchalant way.
"Who is the father?", Raye asked her. Serena eyes brimmed with tears
and she looked at each of them. They all looked at Alex who was chasing
a butterfly.
"Tell me", Serena began to say quietly. "Who does he remind you off?
His face and hair,do they look familiar? His eyes are mine but if they
were dark who would he look like? He's a miniature size of his dad"
"Ohmigosh", Mina gasped and the others looked her. They knew exactly
who she was talking about but they say anything until they knew it was
true.
"He was born in February,wasn't he?", Ami asked and Serena nodded.
"What does his birthday got to do with this?", Raye said.
"Think back to the night when we all felt that pressure", Ami said. 
"Then we had that incredibly happy feeling. He was born on the ninth."
"How did you know?", Serena asked.
"Did you have a problem breathing when you were giving birth to him?"
"Yes right before he came out"
"So that's why we felt like that", Lita said and smiled.
"Now", Ami continued. "If he was born February 9th than he conceived 
nine months before that on a ninth. It was June ninth that he was 
conceived, which happened to be your anniversary with..."
"You're right", Serena said. "He was concieved on June ninth. Me and
Darien's anniversary. Yes, Darien is Alex's father"
"Oh Serena", Raye asked. "Why didn't you tell us?" Putting her arm 
around her best friend.
"I couldn't", She answered. "I felt horrible for doing something so 
irresponsible. You guys couldn't fight with me there big as a house" 
She looked at her handsome young son who made happy as well as sad 
for he reminded her so much of Darien. "Darien wouldn't be able to 
become a doctor with me around.I would have been a burden so I left"
"But you're our burden", Mina said.
"We were so scared something would happened to you", Lita said."That 
pressure was the first sign telling us you were alive"
"I'm sorry", Serena said.They all accepted and decided to take Alex 
to the park. On the way there he gave each Senshi a flower he picked 
while he was playing outside. They immediatly fell in love.
"He's a charmer", Raye said with a smile. "Thank God he's not a klutz 
like you". They were back to their old ways and finally settled on a 
grassy hill. Alex scrambled to the playground while the Senshi gossiped. 
It was as if they were never apart.

Darien decided to take a walk to the park and just think. For some 
reason he couldn't get the little boy out of his head.The boy looked 
so much like him. As he near the playground he collided with a kid.
Darien looked down to see the same boy from yesterday! The boy looked 
at him with big, blue eyes. Those eyes, he thought.I seen them before....
He gasped for right next to the boy laid a locket.
"You look like me", He said with a smile on his face. He tooked the 
locket and put it in his pocket. "Bye!" Before he could leave Darien 
called to him.
"Hey wait!", He called out."Where did you get that locket?"
"My mama gave to me", He responded. His mom..., Darien thought.
"Is your mom here?", Darien asked. The boy grabbed his hand and took 
him up a hill over looking the playground. On top of the hill was the 
Senshi plus one. A beautiful woman with long hair and blue eyes. Wearing 
a straw hat and black sundress. It was Serena. His heart was pounding 
fast, she was ever more beautiful than before.
"My mama is the lady in the hat", He said and pointed to Serena who
was leaning against a tree laughing at something. Her smile seemed
to light him up. "Isn't she pretty?"
"Beautiful", He agreed with the boy. He took something out of his 
pocket. A blooming red rose. "Give this to your mom cause she's looks 
very beautiful. If she asks tell her I gave to you. Okay?"
The ran to his mother and Darien went to find a place to watch her 
facial expression.

Serena and the others were talking about what each was doing. Ami was 
a doctor and was engaged, Mina was modeling and dating another male 
model, Lita had opened a resturant and Raye had married Chad a few 
months ago. Alex then walked up to them and shyly went up to her.
"Mama I have a present for you cause I think you look pretty", He said
sweetly and Serena gasp as he held out a red rose.Alex never looked so
much like his father at that moment. His blue eyes gleamed with pleasure.
She looked down and inhaled the scent. Looking at him with tears in her 
glowing blue eyes.
"I'm glad you like it", A voice said and Serena stood up. In front her
stood Darien more handsome than ever.
"Hello Darien"
"Hello Serena"
