RIGHT HERE WAITING....(Part 5)

"Hey Serena I'm home!",Darien called out and looked into the living
room which had magazines strewn about.The radio blared a upbeat tune
and the sound of Serena singing came from the kitchen.Following her
voice he peeked into the kitchen to see Serena in a pair of bunny
slippers and a long T-shirt going to her knees.She sat on the counter
with a spoon in her hand and a jar of peanut butter next to her.In her
other hand she held a book,WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR EXPECTING.
As she read,Serena dipped her spoon into the jar and then put a spoonful
of peanut butter in her mouth.Kicking her feet in the air to the
beat,she hummed the song and closed her eyes enraptured.Quietly he
slipped in and stood watching her with an amused smile.Serena still
oblivious continued to do her thing not knowing Darien stood near her.
"Is this what you do when I'm not here?Raid my fridge!" She opened
her eyes and swallowed quickly.Wiping her face she blushed as Darien
laughed at her.
"Ohmigosh!I didn't even see you!",she said and smiled though she
was embarassed.Closing the jar,she licked her spoon cleaned and placed
it beside her.
"I didn't know you like peanut butter,you were always more of a
chocolate person",he remarked and sat up on the counter next to her.
"I know but now that I'm five months pregnant I can't stop eating or
having the weirdest cravings",she told him."Peanut butter not so bad
by itself.Taste it" Taking the spoon she gave him a scoop shoving it
in his mouth.Darien attempted to swallowed the goop but managed to
smile at her."How is it?"
"Nuot boad",he mumbled in gibberish.The stickness of the food made it
hard to speak.
"Huh?",Serena asked and he repeated himself."Ohhhh not bad.I get what
you're saying" He must have looked stupid.Darien changed the subject
quickly.
"So you talk to your mom?",he asked her and a shadow crossed her face.
"Yeah",she said looking down at the floor.She hopped off the counter
and he followed.Walking into the living room they sat on the couch.
"She told Sammy about us being married.I can still hear him laughing
over the phone.Boy I hate to tell them we're breaking up,they're
gonna be so disappointed.Not to mention I would have loved to see
Sammy's face"
"How bout you?",he asked quietly trying to sound like he was relaxed
and cupped her chin in his hand."Will you be disappointed?" They were
face to face and Serena swallowed the lump growing in her throat.
"Uhhhhhh",she said trying to find the words and somehow their faces
were getting closer and closer...when the doorbell rang.Serena turned
her head arubtedly and quickly got up."That must be my pizza" As she
walked quickly to the door,an uneasiness went through her.
***********************************
Back In Tokyo,Japan.....
"So did you talk to Darien,sweetie?",Rita asked her fiancee Andrew
over the phone.
"No,not yet",Andrew replied."I haven't had the chance to call him.
I think he might have a girlfriend or something!The guy hasn't called
me in over six months" He laughed not knowing how closed to the truth
he was.
"Speaking of girlfriends",Rita continued."I heard the weirdest thing.
I was at the drugstore and overheard this rumor going around about
Darien and Serena"
"What was it?",he asked curious.In the back of his mind he remembered
the little meatball headed girl who Darien loved to tease.Andrew
always thought Darien had a crush on her but both of them denied with a
passion.
"That they got married",she said simply and Andrew responded with a
long laugh.
"That's crazy",he said and wiped the tears off his face from his
laughter."You know they hated it each other!Plus Mina told me that
Serena has a boyfriend....I think his name was Brian or something"
"You never know",Rita said to him.
"I'll find out soon enough...",he responded.
***************************************
Back in San Francisco.....
"I'm starving",Serena said as they sat on the beach.It was
fall but the beach was still great place to just walk around.
Serena didn't think that she was in the position to go swimming
anyways,she was big as a cow!"Did you bring any food?"
"Of course I did",Darien responded."I had to go grocery shopping
again cause you clean the fridge out last night!" She hit on the arm
and he laughed.
"Hey!I'm eating for two now buddy!",she told him."I'd like to see you
carry this baby around and then you go complain to me about my eating
habits!" She crossed her arms.
"Alright,Alright",he said and put his hand in the air as he was waving
a flag."I surrender.Before we eat let's take a walk" He got up and
wiped the sand of his butt.Helping her up they began to walk.The ocean
hit their feet making them numb but to they were use to it.Others
people were there too.Serena gazed at everyone that passed them but her
attention was struck but a young couple walking hand and hand.They
couldn't possibly be anymore older than fourteen but she sighed
watching their innocent lovestuck figures.Darien noticed her sad,
wistful look and followed her gaze to the couple.He nugded her gently
and whisper in her ear."Do you think you ever be that in love?"
She looked at him,a queer light in her eyes.
"No",she said firmly but a looked of sadness glazed over her pupils.
"Not again anyways"
"And why not?",he asked her."There are thousands of guy who would fall
for you in blink of an eye-"
"NO!",she yelled and looked at him with anger in her eyes."I JUST
CAN'T-I MEAN I JUST DON'T WANT TO,OKAY? NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!" Tears
filled her eyes and before he could see them she walked off.People
watched as they saw the young girl walked off in a huff leaving a
dumbfounded Darien watching her take off.
"What's going on with her?",he asked himself.

The next day....
Serena quietly walked into the living the next morning.She felt
bad about the fact that she had yelled at Darien.She shouldn't
had taken out her pain on him.Creeping into the kitchen he stood
next to the counter reading a newspaper and drinking coffee.As
she entered he looked at her and she straightened herself up.
"Listen",she began leaning against the doorway."I really sorry
about yelling at you.I shouldn't have been such a bitch.I'm just real
stressed right now"
"No",he said interupting."I shouldn't have gotten into your business"
"Truce?",she said and held her hand out.
"Truce",he said taking it.
"Well...I got an appointment",she said and headed out but stopped and
turned to look at him,her hair twirling around her."You ever been to
an ultrasound?"
"No,why?"
"Get dress,your about to go to your first"

The room was dark except for the solitary light of
the screen.Serena looked in anticipation as the doctor rested
the small object on her belly.They waited.After a second a picture
appeared on the screen.The torches in her eyes burned brightly as
she watched and the object on the screen moved ever so slightly.
Serena gasped and a pool of tears came to her eyes.
"Wow",she whispered and took Darien's hand unexpectedly.Serena traced
the figure on the screen with her finger.It's small head,the long
spinal cord,the outline of it's young body.This was her baby.
Her creation.The one thing in her life she felt was perfect
and unblemished.Darien watched the screen as his eyes followed
the every move of the baby.It's hand moved as if it were waving to him.
The small legs of the baby moved slightly back and forth as he had
seen Serena do so many times.But what made him look in awe was it's
quick heartbeat pulsing with life.The feeling of undescriable bliss in
him made his own eyes water,in spite of the manly demeanor he was
trying to put up.
"The heartbeat is so quick",he remarked as he also touched the
screen as if he was reaching out towards the child.A small part of
him wished that he,Darien Chiba was this child's father.Something
he had never laid a thought on,like an unknown wish within him.
"Is that normal?"
"Perfectly normal",the doctor commented smiling at them.She was a tall,
marigold haired woman in her early forties."Do you want to know what
it is?"
"NO",Darien and Serena said at the same time.It was a fact that
Serena loved surprises.The doctor laughed at how much the two knew
about each other.
"How about I let you not only see your baby but hear it too",she told
them and turned something up.The room was suddenly fill with a
pulsating sound of a heartbeat.Darien listened intently and he
squeezed her hand.Serena started to laugh happily and tears rolled
down her cheeks.For a moment she had forgotten everything that had
ever hurt her,the only thing that mattered was her miracle.A motherly
feeling washed over her.She turned to Darien who was looking at the
screen with a concentrated look.A light in his eyes shone,she had
never seen him like this.
"Isn't this the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?",she asked him
in his ear and Darien smiled at her making something in her shiver.He
looked at her radiant face,her twinking eyes that made the stars
envious,and the smile on her face that put the most glorious sunset
to shame.SHE was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.
He shook his head."Actually it's the second"

A Month later....
A loud knock thundered at the door.Darien woke groggily and got
up from his bed.Entering the hallway he checked on Serena who was
peacefully asleep with one hand on her stomach.He smiled and closed
the door.The knock was more urgent and quick.
He opened the door slowly but it was pushed quickly opened by-
"ANDREW!",Darien yelled but quieted realizing Serena slept in her room.
"What are you doing here?" Darien's best friend smiled at him brightly.
His handsome features lit up at the sight of his friend who was rubbing
his head sleepily.
"BUDDY!HOW'S IT BEEN??",he yelled and grabbed Darien into a brotherly
hug.Darien seemed to be dazed at his apperance,a bit distracted.
"I MEAN YOU HAVEN'T EVEN CALLED IN MONTHS!ALSO I HEARD THIS CRAZY
RUMOR BOUT YOU AND SERENA BEING-"
"HEY STOP THAT RACKET!!!!",a angry voice yelled and Darien paled
slightly.Serena came out rubbing her eyes as she walked sleepily from
her room."Goodness grief Darien!If you're gonna have visitors can they
please not yell!They are people trying to sleep here!" She stopped
and her eyes went wide as she realized who stood in front of her.It
was Andrew,Darien's best friend,her old crush.A sinking feeling came
to her.
"Serena",he asked eyes wide.
"Andrew",she said trying to believe he was there.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?",they said simutaneously and pointed at
each other.Serena laid back on a wall for support as Andrew try to
figure out what was going on.
"You...Her...THAT",he said pointing to Serena's stomach and looked
at Darien who was sheepisly rubbing his head.Andrew's eyes went wide
as he started sputtering."Oh my gosh!It's true....about you and her...
Man I never imagine this....Rita was right"
"Hold up",Serena said suddenly."Rita heard this from where?"
"I don't know",he said and shrugged."In some store"
"Andrew let us explained....",Darien said but Andrew shook his head
quickly.
"No...No need...I understand perfectly",he said and winked at Darien.
"But Andrew....",Serena said as she tried to explain but Andrew clamped
her mouth shut with his hand.
"It's alright",he told her."I know all about the craziness of love and
what it makes you do"
"What do you mean?",Serena asked.
"The reason I'm here is because I'm getting married",he said."And
Darien is going to be my best man"
"That's great!!!",Serena cried and threw her arms around Andrew.Darien
happily shook his hand and then gave his friend a hug."When?"
"A month",He answered."Now if you'll excuse me I've got to call fiancee
and tell her of my dicovery" Andrew headed into the kitchen to call.
"Andrew please tell her not to say any of this to ANYONE",she begged
before he went through the kitchen door."Especially my friends" A sly
smile came across his face.
"Ohhhhh so none of the girls know,huh?",he said."No problem I tell her
not to say a word"
"Oh good",she said as he went through the door.She sighed with relief
but he popped his head out of the door.
"Cause you're gonna tell them yourself",he stated.
"What?",she squeaked.
"You're coming too",Andrew told her and he went into the kitchen again.
"WHAT?!!!",Darien and Serena yelled at the same time.

I can't believe this is happening again",Serena moaned as she sat on
Darien's bed the next morning.Andrew slept peacefully in Serena's room.
A feeling of deja vu came over her and she threw her head back in a
pillow."How could you let this happen?"
"He just won't listen",he answered sitting on the edge of the bed."I
tried to tell him before he went to sleep but he refuse to let me
explain saying he understood us not wanting to tell anyone.The guy's
is trying to block my sound out or something"
"Oh great,just great",Serena said and put her hands on her face."Now
what am I gonna do now?"
"Don't worry",he assured her."I'll do something about it"
**************************************
"Oh yeah.You really did something about it",Serena muttered to Darien
as she sat on the plane.This was her first 747 flight and probably be
her last after she explains the whole thing to everyone.
"I tried",Darien explained and then shrugged his arms."What can we do
now,huh?We're landing in half an hour"
"You're no help",Serena said angrily and crossed her arms.
"Well soorry Serena I'll try harder next time"
"Just shut up",She said moodily sticking her tongue at him.He glared
at her.
"You don't have to be such a b-"
"Hey no cursing!"
"You're the one who's making me curse!"
"Well you're the reason we're on this PLANE!"
"Excuse me",a man across from them said."Could you both please be a
little more quiet?"
"SHUT UP!",they both said to him and the man drew back.They turn to
see Andrew making his way down the aisle and they immediatly silenced
themselves.Sitting down Andrew smiled at the couple who sat next to him.
Serena had a tight look on her face and he patted her hand.She jumped
a little out of her seat as it was hot.
"Tense huh?",he said to her and she nodded biting her lip."Hey don't
worry you're parents are picking us up and guess what we'll be arriving
ten minutes earlier!"
"Yea",Serena said mournfully as she laid back in her seat.
*********************************************
"When's her plane landing?",Mina said excitedly as her blonde hair
bounced.Her blue eyes gleamed in anticipation as they looked around
the crowded airport.Checking her watch Mina's pretty face scrunched
in impatientness."This taking wayyyyy long"
"Oh be quiet!",Raye hissed her brown eyes burning with annoyance.
Flipping her burgundy hair back she walked to a screen displaying
all the arriving planes."She's coming in about five minutes so sit
down and shut up!"
"Raye don't be so mean!She's just excited",Ami said looking up from
a book she read.Her blue eyes peeked from behind her reading glasses
and she smiled up at her.Raye softened and sat back down.
"You guys think she'll look different?",asked Lita adjusting her brown
ponytail."It's been a few years since we've seen her,after all"
"About two years actually",Ami told her.
"Well she might look different",Raye quipped."But she'll always be
the klutzy,crybaby she was before" She smiled at her fond memory of her
best friend.
"She probably still has a never ending stomach!",Lita said and laughed.
A voice annouced that Serena's flight had landed and the four ran to
the gate not noticing that every guy they passed checked them out.A
crowd had assembled and they stood on top of some chairs."How come
Serena didn't tell us she was coming?"
"Her mom said it was an unexpected visit",Ami said to her and continued
scanning for Serena from the people exiting the plane."They were
suppose to pick her up but they had an unexpected car failure" The four
continued to look when the familiar gleam of blond hair and a pair
sparkling blue eyes caught their attention.She wore a long black tank
dress and matching sandals with white straps.Her blond hair was
layered and swayed at she moved.Looking around for them,she waved
excitedly.They all ran to her and Mina was the first to grab her.
"SERENA!",she cried."I can't believe that's you!"
"Whoa Mina!"Serena said to her hurricane of a friend."You're killing
me"
"Oh sorry",She mumbled and let go.They made a group hug as they cried.
"It's been a pretty damn long time",Lita remarked as she hugged her.
Serena looked at them one by one and smiled remembering all her
memories with them,Her Senshi.
"God Serena I've missed you",Ami said letting her book drop to the
floor to hold her friend."Promise you'll stay for awhile?"
"Of course",she answered knowing she'd be there more than awhile.
Serena had come home to stay.She didn't say it outloud though.She went
to Raye who stood arms crossed with a serious look on her face but it
slowly changed to a beautiful smile and she grabbed her friend whirling
her around.She put her down feeling out of breath.
"Gosh she's heavy",she muttered.They looked at their friend again.
She had grown tall and a look of maturity mixed with playfulness
was in her eyes.Serena's face was bright and her hair framed it
making her look like a goddess of all that was beautiful.Her hair
was of spun gold made brighter by the sun and her cheeks glowed
from a light blush.
"You're so tall",Lita said.

"You're so beautiful",Mina said.

"You're so...fat",Raye said and everyone looked at Serena whose cheeks
went tomato red.A cough was heard behind her and they looked to see two
handsome men watching them.One was light haired and one was dark.
"Darien what are you doing here?"
"He's with me",Serena said and looked down."We should go get our bags"
She moved ahead of them trying to avoid their usual brigade of
questions but Mina caught up with her.
"Is there something going on with you two?",she asked looking from
her to Darien as they went down the escalator.
"Um...There's the baggage claim",she ran to the crowd at the claim
trying to avoid them and Darien joined quickly putting a protective
hand on her shoulder
"Something is definitely going on",Lita confirmed watching as Darien
helped Serena get her bags carrying hers along with his own.The four
walked toward the two and Andrew went to make a call knowing it was
time to buzzoff.
"Are you guys going out?",Raye asked a twinge of jealousy in her."And
Serena what is going with your stomach?" Ami's eyes widened suddenly
and her eyes clashed with Serena's.Placing her finger to her lips,
Serena silently nodded at Ami confirming her suspicions.It was
inevitiable.
"I'mpregnant",she mumbled quickly but they all heard it.
"Your what?!",Lita yelled."Ohmigosh I can't believe it.You aren't!"
"Serena,You're not even married!",Mina said.
"Well...actually...I..am..to him",she stuttered looking down to
the floor and pointed to Darien who took her hand.It was silent for a
moment as each of Serena's friends stood gaping at them when all four
bursted into a fit of laughter thinking it was some huge joke being
played.
"Serena for a moment there I actually thought you were serious!",Mina
said through her laughter when all of a suddenly her eyes rolled back
and-

*THUNK*

*THUNK*

*THUNK*

*THUNK*

And that my friends was the sound of all four of the Senshi hitting
the ground....
