RIGHT HERE WAITING(Part 9)

	 Serena could practically feel the heat going from her toes 
to her head.She wanted to let go but she couldn't.It was like magnetism 
or something. She put a hand to his chest and pushed 
away suddenly making him stop in surprise.Darien's breathing was hard 
but so was Serena's.As they looked at each other at that moment,there 
was no words to say the silence said it all.Serena looked at him 
quietly,her eyes a picture of fear but delight,longing yet hurt.
"I-I-have to go",she said shakily and with that turned and walked into 
the apartment.Without even thinking he went after her.
"Serena wait!",Darien said and grabbed her arm before she could go into 
her room.She turned around quickly and looked at him.Tears running down 
her cheeks.
"LET GO OF ME!",she screamed at him.Darien was surprised looking at her
wide blue eyes filled with tears,her cheeks flushed,and hair matted to 
her forehead."WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT?! WE SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT!"
"YES WE SHOULD HAVE!",Darien yelled back astounding himself."Serena you
knew it was gonna,I knew it was gonna happen,you just had to LET it 
happen"
"No!",she responded leaning against a wall breathing hard."I promised 
myself I wouldn't let happen again.Never again."
"Serena you can't stop me from loving you-"
"STOP IT,STOP IT,STOP IT!",She hollered covering her ears from hearing 
his words.They hurt too much. "Just go away.PLEASE!"
"I won't leave you",he said and tried to hold her but she pushed him 
away once more.Serena sobbed as she stood in front of him.She couldn't
face him or what she felt."I know that you've been hurt so much that 
just won't let yourself,will you?" She sat on the floor hugging her 
legs.Her head laying on her knees.God she couldn't breathe.What was 
happening to her?Why couldn't she think straight?
"Go away",she whispered her voice hoarse.
"Open your heart Serena",Darien said in her ear.He took her hand in 
his.Kissing it softly,he got up to leave.Before he left he squatted 
before Serena and lifted her chin."Open it to me.You're so afraid of
getting hurt you won't let yourself fall.Don't go and blame yourself 
for something that wasn't your fault in the first place.That jerk did 
what he did cause he was stupid not knowing what he had or what he's 
done to you now.I'll love you no matter what but if you want me to 
leave I will" With that he got up and went to door.Before walking out 
the doorto leave her alone like she asked,Darien looked at her 
longingly.He wanted to just hold her but he knew that Serena had to 
wanna be with him.Darien walked closing the door gently behind him.
Outside Darien squeezed his fist tightly feeling as if his whole world
had fallen apart,looking at the door he sighed and walked into 
elevator.Serena looked up at the door,her face wet and her eyes glazed with 
confusion and sadness.
"Don't leave",she whispered in the dark room.

"This dress is so beautiful!",squealed Mina as she hugged a marigold 
sleeveless dress to her chest.The Senshi had decided to exchange gifts
that Christmas afternoon.A blanket of snow still laid upon the city 
but the bright sun peeked from the clouds."Thanks Raye!"
"No problem.Once I saw it I knew it was for you",she answered and 
looked at Lita who had just open a huge present from Mina.It was a 
series of cookbooks that she knew Lita had wanted badly.Ami was picking 
up the wrapping she had torn off all her gifts.
"You guys I loved your presents!",Ami said graciously as she sat next 
to Raye."The book from Lita,the hat from Raye...the lingerie from Mina"
As she said this Ami held up a silky blue nightgown that was very 
revealing.She blushed but the other two girls looked at Mina who was
busily eating a cupcake that Lita had made.Mina looked up from her
food and was greeted with three pairs of eyes looking at her.
"What?!",she asked and saw Ami holding the lingerie."Oh-that!I just
wanted to motivate Greg-if you know what I mean!" Mina winked at Ami
who scowled at her while Raye and Lita giggled.
"Is that all you have on your mind,Mina?",Raye asked."Getting our
Ami hitched?" A knock was heard and she got up stretching her legs.
"Wait till you open your present!",Mina said from where she sat.
Laughing Raye opened the door and stopped suddenly when she saw
who was at the door.
"S-Serena?",Raye said shaken at her friend's apperance.Serena had deep,
dark circles under her usually bright blue eyes.Now they were dull and
practically lifeless.Her lips were pale but now as pale as her skin 
which had taken on a pasty look.Serena's blonde hair was down but 
looked uncombed and hung limp."Come in.What the hell happened to 
you?!!"
"Darien and I had a fight",she said softly and put a hand on her 
stomach."I haven't been feeling well since this morning.Merry 
Christmas everyone."
"Merry Christmas",everyone chorused though they were concerned about 
what happened.No one had the guts to asked what was going until Lita
spoke up.
"Serena,what's wrong?",Lita said and put a hand to her shoulder.Serena
looked up at her with tears in her eyes.In her mind the events of the 
night before were going through her head like a movie. His words echoed in 
her head and with that she burst into tears.The others rushed to her 
and Raye gathered her best friend in her arms.
"Don't cry Serena",Raye said soothingly and smoothed her friend's 
hair out."Married couples have fights all the time-"
"We're not married!" Everyone looked at her,the outburst confusing 
them.
"What are you talking about?",Lita asked."You guys aren't married?"
"No" Serena wiped her eyes and sighed."We only pretended."
"I getting kinda confused here",Mina said putting a hand to her head.
"Me too",Ami added and they all settled on the floor."Serena we're 
going to need a logical explanation"
"I know",Serena said tiredly and looked at each of them."How do I 
start?Okay,it all began one rainy afternoon...."

"Oh my gosh",Mina said awestruck."I never suspected..."
"I'll be damn...",Lita remarked her arm comfortingly around
Serena.
"You should have told us",Raye said a little angry at her friend.
"We were gonna tell everyone but everytime we tried we were somehow 
interrupted",Serena explained.She had told everything to the Senshi 
including her and Darien kissing but left out everything he said to 
her that night.Evening had began and Serena looked out the window it 
was about to snow.She wasn't in the mood to go to her parents house
at the moment.Raye seemed to have read her mind for she invited her 
friend to stay over."Thanks Raye.You're a pal."
"Don't worry bout it",Raye responded and got from where she sat.
Ami looked at her watch and got her coat.
"I think I have to go.I promise Greg I'd meet so we could exchange 
gifts" 
"Woo-hoo!Go Ami!",Mina said excitedly."I think someone's gonna be
using my present tonight!" 
"Yeah!You go girl!",Lita joined in happily and put her arm around
Ami."I predict we'll be seeing a rock on your finger" Ami looked
at her hands pretending to be concentrated on them.
"I don't know what you're talking about",she said and adjusted her 
coat."I have to go now" Before heading towards the door she hugged
Serena and kissed her friend on the cheek.She could feel Serena's
pain,it was like heat radiating from the hot sun."Don't cry Serena.I 
hate to see anything but a smile on that beautiful face" Serena gave 
Ami a soft smile.The others also gathered their things preparing to 
leave but not without giving Serena some encouraging words.
"Keep your head up",Lita said and lifted Serena's drooping head from 
her chin.Walking out the door she gave her friend a wave.Serena waved 
back and turned to see Mina holding her coat,a morose smile on her 
face.She hated to see Serena down,stepping toward her the two faced 
each other in silence.Mina looked at her friend and watched as two big 
teardrops rolled down her face.Without speaking she gathered her 
friend in her arms.
"Mina",she sobbed."I don't know what's happening to me!Part of me 
wanted to hold him in my arms sometimes but the other half...I don't 
know!"
"Oh sweetie",Mina said soothingly."You're just scared that's all.Now
that you know what's going on.Things can only get better"
"No.Things can only get worse",she said and Mina shook her head 
disagreeing.
"Serena we have been through hell and back together.Not once have I 
seen you allow yourself to fail",She said and Serena looked up,Mina 
gave her friend a reassuring smile."Because of one thing:faith.Serena 
don't give up on love cause of some minor setback.You still have a 
chance.Just have faith and you won't go wrong"
"Thank you Mina",Serena replied quietly and hugged her.Wiping her eyes
she took a deep breath.Letting go of Mina,Serena gave her friend a 
scarf and wrapped it around her neck for her."It's getting cold out 
there"
"Thanks",she said touched at Serena's gesture.Opening the door Mina 
looked out at the frosty outside.Turning she gave Serena a goodbye 
smile and walked out the door.Closing it behind Mina,Serena recalled 
her friend's words.One sentence stuck out in particular.
"Have faith",she repeated to herself.

Raye gathered the blankets she would be sleeping on that night.As 
Serena was sitting on her bed quietly looking into space.How could 
she be so blind to not know how much she was in love with Darien.
 Raye knew
however that Serena had to come to this conclusion herself.She went 
over to Serena who was holding something in her hands now.Edging closer 
Raye saw what looked like a star locket.It was shone like a thousand 
suns and something about it was remarkable.There was a magic to it.
Sitting next to her she watched as Serena delicately opened the lid.A 
euphonious tune came waltzing out.It made her think of dancing in the 
stars...
"That's beautiful",she remarked and Serena looked up from her trance.
"Yeah I know",Serena said and smiled.She placed it next to herself 
and looked at Raye with melancholy eyes."It was from Darien"
"Sooo that's what he spent the rest of the money on",Raye said 
recalling the day they had helped Darien shop.He had let them help 
him out with the baby thing but had left to find Serena's present.No 
wonder he had needed so much money."That must have cost a pretty 
penny.I guess that's why he pawned that great looking watch"
"What watch?",Serena asked suddenly looking up.
"That pocketwatch with the crescent moon on it",Raye informed her 
friend and watched Serena's face pale."Serena what's wrong?"
"He wouldn't pawn that watch!",Serena argued remembering the 
conversation they had with she first saw it. "He loves that watch more than anything"
"No",Raye said and looked at Serena."He loves YOU more than anything"
Tears filled her eyes and she put her head on Raye's shoulder.
"I've spent most of life making the wrong choices",Serena said 
exasperated."When will I ever make a right one?"
"Don't worry",Raye said assuring her."I have a feeling you'll be 
making that choice very soon"

Ilene Tsukino answered the door to see her daughter standing at the
door.Usually a visit from her was something she enjoyed but something
told Ilene that something was wrong.It was all in Serena's eyes.
"Serena,what's going on?",she asked alarmed and took her daughter's
arm escorting her in.They both sat on the couch and Ilene held her
daughter's hand."Where's Darien?"
"I don't know...",she said and put her hands in her face.
Serena also tried to get the guts to tell her parents the truth."Mom I
need to tell you something and I don't know how you'll take it..."

"Serena why didn't you tell us in the first place?!",she asked sadly
and took her daughter in her arms.
"I tried Mom.I really tried.",Serena said crying and her mom rocked her
back in forth."I'm sorry.I'm so sorry"
"Darling it's alright",Ilene said."Don't cry.It may seem as if things 
are going down for you but they're not"
"They aren't?",she said questioningly.Her mom smiled at her and took
Serena's face in her hands.She kissed her daughter on her forehead
and Serena felt comforted.Her mom was the greatest.
"Honey don't you see how much Darien loves you?",her mother asked.
"He cares for you so much Serena.Don't push him away because of some 
jerk.You love him,I know it so don't let him go"
"Yes don't let him go without a fight",a voice said and she turned 
around to her father.Ken Tsukino sat next to her."No need to explain 
the whole story I heard it all.Serena I know that I haven't been a real 
big fan of Darien but the only reason I was like that was because I 
knew how much you loved him.I was afraid I'd lose you" Her dad looked 
down and Serena hugged her dad.
"You'll never lose me dad",Serena said sincerely."Speaking of not 
losing me um...can I stay over for awhile?" Her parents laughed and 
for the first time she laughed with them.

That night Serena looked out her window at the unusually clear night.
Stars filled the night sky and twinkled in their own little dance.
Next to her laid her locket opened with it's tune wavering in the
night air.Her thoughts were on one thing and as tears ran down her
face she whispered one word.
"Darien..."

Sitting on the couch Serena looked at the T.V. with blank eyes.A 
container of Ice Cream in her hands and a remote in her other.
Flipping through the channels she thought of Darien.Where was he?
 A knock interuptted her thoughts and Serena
lazily got up.Dragging herself to the door she yanked it open and
to her surprise the person she would have least suspected stood right 
in front of her.
"Oh my God!Brian...."
