The door creaks & behind it, Mai mutters ominously "Unu wa da-sen, yogora wo ageru." Yoshino looks stunned "Who on earth are you?!" Mai walks towards her & reaching out with a jerk, grabs Yoshino by the neck, choking her. "Mai-san!" gasps Yoshino, coughing. Just as abruptly as she started, Mai suddenly stops & going limp, falls to the floor unconscious. Frantically, Yoshino shakes her "Mai-san! Hang on! Mai-san!" Calming herself down, Yoshino reaches into her pocket & pulls out the piece of paper with Miyashita's phone number on it. Giving Mai a look of panic, Yoshino rushes to the phone & starts dialing.....

 

Asakawa continues driving, thoughts & images of the video playing in his mind.....

At Musashino Medical University, Miyashita looks over a sleeping Mai "She's extremely weak. She will need to rest for a while." Yoshino replies "I'm sorry to have bothered you so suddenly." Miyashita, checking on Mai's intravenous drip, shakes her head "It's alright," & then to the nurse "I'll take it from here." Nodding "Alright," the nurse leaves & Miyashita says "I hear you work at the same newspaper bureau as Asakawa-san?" "Yes, I was his subordinate in the news section. I found him very scary & I used to get reprimanded a lot." Miyashita laughs "Is that so?" Hesitatingly, Yoshino asks "Uhm, are you & senpai....?" "Me? I was a close friend of his late wife." "I see." Miyashita gives Mai a contemplative look "You said this girl was a friend of yours?" Quickly, Yoshino replies "Yes. She came over for a visit but suddenly fainted. I'll take her home as soon as she gets better." Miyashita looks at Yoshino directly "You've told two lies since you came here. This girl is not a friend of yours. & with regards to Asakawa-san, he's not a scary senpai but rather, he's a senpai that you like." Yoshino looks uneasily at being seen through & Miyashita gives a little laugh "Is there something you're worrying over? Would you like to talk about it?" When Yoshino remains silent, Miyashita adds "If it's a secret, I'm not going to force you. But as a doctor, it would help to know more about her. This girl is extremely troubled. She's probably struggling with something she doesn't want to remember. That caused her to lose consciousness. It's an unconscious defensive reaction. Who is she?" 

 

Yoshino hesitates, recalling Takayama telling her "I want Mai away from here. They suspect her of killing Professor Kaneda. But, you can't tell anyone about this. If you betray me, I will never forgive you." Yoshino comes to a decision "I'm sorry, I can't tell you." Miyashita smiles "Well, if you change your mind, let me know. You can talk to me any time," walking out. Yoshino glances at Mai, the expression on her face of being caught between the urge to tell Miyashita the truth & the promise made to Takayama.

 

Dawn arrives & Asakawa finds himself at the Higashiizumi Girls Academy. When the gates open & girls start arriving for school, Asakawa gets out of his car & approaches them "Hi, could I ask you something? I'm from Chuou Shimbun. There's a rumor spreading about in schools & I was wondering if you know anything about it? The one about people dying after watching Matsuzaki Nao's music video." "Ah, I do. I've heard it on the radio before. That's scary." Asakawa shows them the fax "Do you have any idea who sent this fax?" "Kitagawa City, Y.K.? We don't know...." To another group of girls, Asakawa asks "Have you heard of Matsuzaki Nao?" "We've heard of the name but nothing beyond that." "Do you have any friends with the initials Y.K.?" "If it were I.K. I do but..." All the other girls laugh "You're silly!"

 

With a sigh, Asakawa returns to his car. Getting in, he notices a slip of paper stuck on his wiper on his windshield. Reaching for it, he opens & stares at the words "Restaurant Tsukushi" written on it. Puzzled, he looks around & sees two girls in the distance standing by the school gates looking at him. One of them waves but the other quickly pushes her friend inside.

 

Over at Asakawa's apartment, grandma is calls out looking for Yoichi "Yo-chan? Yo-chan?" Finding him in Asakawa bedroom in a corner, she says "Yo-chan! So you were here all the time! Come one, let's go," putting on his satchel over his shoulders.

 

Yoshino heads arrives at the Musashino Medical University & knocking on the door of Mai's room, enters to find it empty "Mai-san?" Taking two steps in, a hand grabs her leg. Yoshino gasps, startled to see Mai clinging on to her leg in fear "Mai-san?"

 

Yoshino walks out of the buildings looking for Miyashita but before she can call out, sees Nagao approach "Miyashita!" "Good morning."

 

Walking up a stairwell, Nagao tells Miyashita "I've informed Ogaki the news. I'm sure you'll start hear the rumor about the new virus shortly." Thank you." "I'm sorry. On second thought, I shouldn't have gotten you involved in all this." However, Miyashita assures him "I only want to find get the stolen virus back." "Let me know if you find out anything." "I will." Nagao walks off & Miyashita heads for the lab.

 

Yoshino calls out "sensei!" Miyashita stops in her tracks, turning around to see Yoshino approach her "sensei, can you really find out why Mai's mentally unstable? What secret she's hiding inside?" "Only with your help. I do have qualifications in clinical psychology." Yoshino decides to be forthright "She is Takayama Ryuji's younger sister." A look of understanding appears on Miyashita's face. Yoshino continues "It might have something to do with Ikuma Sadako. You've heard of her haven't you, Ikuma Sadako? The one who put a curse on a video tape. She's Asakawa-san's & my adversary." "You're not saying that you....?" Yoshino nods "I've seen the video. I've got just over seven days left." Both women exchange looks of understanding & cooperation.

 

Takayama looks out the window, blinking when he hears commotion in the hallway. The door to his office opens & the detective Kashiwada barges in, struggling to push the security guard away "It's alright!" When the guard sees Takayama, he nods & leaves, closing the door behind him. Kashiwada asks dominatingly "Where is Takano Mai? Where is she hiding?" Without a word, Takayama turns away & sits at his desk. Not about to give up, Kashiwada says threateningly "I've done some research on Mai. 15 years ago she lost her parents. That was a very mysterious case. I'm sure you still remember it. You were nine at the time." Takayama whips his head around & glares at Kashiwada, only to find the detective nonchalantly staring back "It's very interesting, isn't it." With those words, Kashiwada strides out of the office, leaving Takayama fighting his emotions.

 

Miyashita says in a calm, low voice "You're a university student. Right now you're on the campus. You attend classes every day. What can you see in front of you?" With Yoshino in the next room observing, Miyashita hypnotizes Mai. Quietly, Mai replies "A corridor." "A corridor? A campus corridor? You're walking along the campus corridor. Where are you heading?" Mai, seated on a chair with her eyes closed, flinches at the question & Miyashita tries to calm her down "Don't be afraid. Where are you?" Mai suddenly opens her eyes in fear "Help me! Help me!" "Where are you now?" "At Kaneda-sensei's home." "Kaneda-sensei? Is he there now?" Mai starts crying, curling up into a ball. Miyashita continues "What happened there? What did sensei do to you?" Mai suddenly reaches out for Miyashita & tries to strangle her but suddenly goes limp, passing out. Turning to look at Yoshino, Miyashita says "She harbors hatred for Professor Kaneda, that's for sure." "Are you saying that she was raped by Professor Kaneda then & is in this state now because of that?" "No, I don't think so. It's not something as straightforward that induced her into a state like this. She is hiding a much greater fear in her heart." From her closed eyes, tears roll down Mai's face.

 

Takayama calls Yoshino but gets no answer. Sitting back down at his desk, he swivels around & around in his chair.

 

Waiting at the restaurant, Asakawa notices two girls enter in their track suits. Striding up confidently, they sit down across the table "We don't have much time. It's Phys Ed at the moment & we snuck out half way. You were asking about Y.K. weren't you?" Asakawa takes out the fax from his jacket "Yes. This is it." A waitress comes up to serve the girls "Welcome," but they tell her "It's alright," waving her away. One of the girls asks "This is for an article?" "Yes." "We're taking a big risk talking to you. The school is really strict too. If we get found out we'll be expelled right away. It's a private school so it would be bad for its image." Taking the hint, Asakawa takes out a wallet & fishes out a note "Will this do?" Without hesitation, the note is pocketed & the information forthcoming "We think that Y.K. is a friend of ours. Yuriko Koyama." Asakawa asks "Do you think I could meet her?" "She's dead. She died a week ago." Asakawa looks surprised "Dead?" "& at the house of a teacher she was in love with no less!" "Because she died of heart failure, it didn't become a big incident. But since it involved a teacher, the news was suppressed." "But that wasn't a straightforward case of heart failure. Yuriko told us before she died 'I've finally seen it, I might die soon'." Asakawa asks "What did she see?" "That goes without saying, it was the real Matsuzaki Nao video." "Have you both seen it?" Both girls quickly shake their heads "No way!" "Did she say where she got the tape from?" "She wouldn't tell us, said it was a secret." "The tape could still be at her home." "They've moved away." "Eh?" "Well, the neighbors were giving them a hard time." "Well, in any case our school has been cursed from the beginning." "It was meant to be a sanitarium for for tuberculosis. It was closed after something happened. After that the school was built on the site." "An incident?" "Ah, we've run out of time!" "That incident you mentioned......" but the girls scramble off, ignoring Asakawa's question.

 

Nagao answers the phone "Yes, this is Nagao." "This is Ogaki over at the first surgical department, there is something I'd like to discuss with you." "Yes, what is it?" 

 

Continuing on with the hypnosis session, Miyashita says to Mai "Relax & close your eyes. Yes, let's go back to when you were little. Little by little, let's go back in time. You're now in grade school." Mai starts to sing a tune. Miyashita smiles "You can hear music? Sounds nice." Observing through the glass panel in the next room, Yoshino suggests "It might be a music box." Miyashita asks Mai "Is it the tune from a music box? What is it about that music box?" Mai whispers "onichan...." "onichan? Ah, onichan gave that music box to you? It must be very very precious to you." Tears roll down Mai's face at the memory. Miyashita continues "Did you show it to your parents?" With sudden force, Mai says "Stop it!" Getting to her feet, she adds "It's no use." Yoshino anxiously gets to her feet "What is that?" Miyashita tries to calm Mai down "Don't be afraid, just relax." Mai shoves her away "Don't touch me!" Running to the glass panel, she stares at Yoshino. Yoshino, panic rising, says "There's someone inside her!" "There's no one inside, it's only Takano Mai." Mai screams, running to a corner "Let me out of here!" "What are you afraid of? Calm down. It's alright. Who's beside you? Your father? Your mother? What can you see?" Mai refuses to answer & Miyashita tells her "It's alright, there's nothing to be afraid off." Holding her hands to her face, Mai suddenly sees blood on her bandaged hand & gets hysterical. Miyashita, struggling to hold Mai down, tells Yoshino "There's a strong possibility that it involves an incident." "An incident?" "Probably concerning her parents." "I'll go check if there's something in the newspapers." "From about 10 to 15 years ago." "I understand."

 

Along the hallway, Ogaki & Nagao discuss something between themselves.

 

Miyashita rushes back to her lab. Yoshino anxiously greets her "sensei!" Bringing up an article on the computer regarding the murder of both Mai's parents. Miyashita reads aloud "...the Takano family of both husband & wife, eldest son Ryuji & younger daughter Mai. However when the police arrived, the couple's bodies were.....nowhere to be found." 

 

With Mai comfortably in her chair, eyes closed, Miyashita says "Let's try to remember your parents, shall we? You remember your father & mother, don't you?" Mai shakes her head. Miyashita holds Mai's hands "Mai-chan! Mai-chan? You're five years old now. Where are you now?" Mai replies "At home." "At home? Mai-chan's home?" Mai recalls a little girl crying & starts to cry. Miyashita asks "Why are you crying? Is your father there? What about your mother?" Mai has a flashback, seeing blood splatter all over the little girl & flinches back in shock "Blood!!" Miyashita presses her "Who's blood is it? What's happened with your parents?" Mai sees the little girl walk towards pools of blood, both her parents lying in them, dead. Mai screams "No! Don't come here!" "Mai-chan, it's alright. Someone scary was there?" "A man." "A man?" "A man came & took me away." Mai recalls seeing a man taking hold of the little girl by the hand & walking away. Miyashita asks "What kind of man? Can you see his face? Who is it?" "I can't see, his face is all white. I don't know who it is!" The little girl turns around & Mai gasps. Miyashita asks "What's wrong? Was someone there?" Mai stares at her in fear "Sa.....da......" Suddenly Mai goes limp & collapses.

 

Putting Mai back to bed, Miyashita tells her "You've done well." Yoshino says "It looks like there's some connection between Mai & Ikuma Sadako after all." "Uhm." "I'll try to find out more about the incident 15 years ago. I'll go to the local police station, they might be able to tell us something." 

 

Dizzily, Takayama walks towards the buildings at Musashino Medical University. A taxi drives pass & noticing Yoshino, starts to run after it but pauses, frowning.

 

Driving back to the school, Asakawa pulls up at the gates, winds down the window & stares at the building.

just what was the incident that happened?

 

 

Yoshino walks slowly out of the Aoume West Police Station, lost in her thoughts when someone calls out "Yoshino-san!" Turning around, she doesn't see anyone but hears Kashiwada's voice "Are you also checking up on the Takano incident?" Looking closer, Yoshino finds Kashiwada behind a patrol car, on his heels, putting out a cigarette "The statute of limitations has run out. You didn't find anything new in the records, did you." Coming around the car, he introduces himself "I'm Kashiwada from Miyato City. I used to be a cop but no longer. I was in charge of the Takayama Ryuji case. You're from the same Chuo Shimbun as Asakawa-san, aren't you." "Do you know Asakawa-san?" "Yes. Thanks to him, I am no longer a detective. I was forced to release Takayama Ryuji because he threatened to expose my pass. But, don't worry about it. I was the one in the wrong in the first place. So what do you think? Would you like to work together? I have an old friend working here & he can get his hands on all sorts of information." Yoshino looks away, pondering in silence.

 

Asakawa drives into town, getting out of his car, approaches a grocery store "Hello?! Anyone here?!" A grocer replies "The incident at the sanitarium?" "Yes." It happened over 20 odd years ago but even when I remember it now, it gives me the shivers. Why do you think? Patients & employees died in one night, all 13 of them!" "13 people?!" "Yes!" "Were you running the store here at the time?" "Yes. My father was. I would deliver groceries & vegetables to the sanitarium everyday. Even on the morning the day after the incident!"

 

The grocer recalls arriving at the sanitarium to see people dead on the floor, hands grasping their heads, expressions of agony at the moment of their deaths. "What's wrong?! sensei! Somebody!" 

 

Asakawa asks "What did the police say the cause of their deaths were?" "It was said that they all died of heart failure. Some people thought it might have been some medical error but the case ended without any other development. Ah, there was one survivor!" 

 

The grocer finds one man at the sanitarium alive "What happened?!" but the man turns around & pleads "Help me! Help me!" 

 

"Why did everyone of them die & how come he was the only one who survived? No one understood why." "The man that survived, do you know where he is now?"

 

Sitting in a taxi, Takayama rides with his eyes shut. Suddenly, his eyes open & he stares out in front of him.

 

Crossing a bridge over a stream, Kashiwada points out to Yoshino "That's the Takano home where the incident took place. It has been empty ever since then, it's not used now. The Takano's were killed 15 years ago, in January 1984. Their daughter Takano Mai was five years old. & there was a boy they adopted from an orphanage, Takayama Ryuji. As a welfare facility, they received funds from the government. The Takano family consisted of just the four of them." "That incident was reported in the papers." "It was actually worse than what was reported. Both the Takano's heads were split opened." "What weapon was used?" "No one knows. Actually, rather than being beaten, it was more like their heads exploded. No one knew how that happened. A witness saw a man at the scene of the crime." Yoshino pauses "A man?" & recalls the hypnosis session with Mai "Someone scary was there?" "A man." Kashiwada asks "What's wrong?" "Nothing. What happened then?" "The police suspected him of being the murderer but never managed to find him & the case ended unsolved. Mai was looked after by relatives & Takayama went back to a juvenile facility. When he became a scholar & as soon as he could, he took Mai back." Something getting his attention, Kashiwada looks out into the trees surrounding the house. Yoshino asks "What's wrong?" "Nothing, I felt like we're being watched. I'm going to take a look." Kashiwada strides off.

 

Alone, Yoshino steps gingerly into the dilapidated Japanese style house, brushing aside cobwebs. Looking about, Yoshino sees nothing unusual. Hearing a noise, Yoshino quickly hides & finds herself in a room where the walls are splattered with blood. Terror builds up in her & gasping with fear, Yoshino moves away from the wall, next to a paper screen door. Suddenly from behind her, two hands crash through on either side of her & she screams.

 

Asakawa pulls up at the Sada Chuou Hospital & walks in.

 

 

I found out more about the only survivor from the sanitarium,

a man by the name of Moriyama Shuhei.....

 

 

A nurse shows Asakawa to Moriyama's room, to a man lying still in bed "This is Moriyama-san. He is in a confused state of mind. Lately he's gotten worse." "May I?" "Please, go ahead." Asakawa goes to the edge of the bed & calls out "Moriyama-san, can you hear me? I would like to ask you about what happened at the sanitarium. Do you know of a woman by the name of Ikuma Sadako?" Moriyama's eyes flicker. Asakawa presses on urgently "You do know Ikuma Sadako, don't you. Moriyama-san!" The nurse suggests "Perhaps you should return when he's a little better." "Alright." Getting to his feet, Asakawa takes a silver platter from the side of the bed "Excuse me, what's this?" "Moriyama-san brought that with him. It must hold a lot of memories for him, he never lets it out of his sight." Asakawa puts it back on the table, contemplating.

 

In a panic, Yoshino scrambles away but a hand grabs her arm. Turning around, she sees Takayama staring at her "You betrayed me!" Yoshino pulls away but Takayama stops her "You handed Mai over to the doctor! Just like an object, you're trying to look into her heart!" Yoshino shakes her head in fear "No." Takayama goes down on his heels in front of her "No? Then can I make sure?" Yoshino gives him a fearful glance & Takayama gets up, takes a glass jar filled with a milky liquid out of his pocket "This is a potent made from the Calabar bean. Have you heard of it before? In Africa, the Calabar is used as a form of judgment. If the person lives after drinking this, then he will be declared innocent. But, if the person has lied, he will die after drinking it." Takayama unscrews the lid & helps Yoshino to her feet "It's alright. If you're not lying, you won't die," putting the jar in her hand. Yoshino looks around uneasily & Takayama asks "Who are you waiting for? No one's going to come. Drink it!" With her hand trembling, Yoshino slowly lifts the jar to her lips & takes a sip "Isn't this just normal juice?" "You don't know what's so special about the Calabar juice is, do you. If that person is innocent, he will drink it with one gulp, & he will go on living because he will throw it all up. But people who lie, drink it little by little in fear. The poison will be absorbed in the stomach bit by bit & the person will die." Yoshino shakes in fear. Takayama says "You're dead." Yoshino suddenly loses control & flinging the rest of the juice in Takayama's face, runs out of the room, screaming hysterically, locking the door behind her. Glancing out the window, she spots Kashiwada lying outside on the grounds, dead with a knife in his chest. Terrified, Yoshino fumbles for her cell phone "Pick it up! Hurry!"

 

Coming out of the hospital, Asakawa's cell phone rings. Looking at it, he sees the caller is Yoshino "Hello?" Yoshino screams hysterically "senpai?" Banging sounds of someone breaking in scares her & she tries to scramble away.

 

Mai tries to sit up in bed but Miyashita tells her "Don't get up, you've got to let the medicine take effect." Mai asks weakly "Where's onichan?" "Has anything happened to your brother?" "Where is he?" "Your brother will be right back. Relax & sleep." Mai closes her eyes. A knock sounds & Nagao appears "Miyashita-kun, I need to speak with you."  Stepping outside into the corridor, Nagao tells her "Looks like the others are making their move to get me out." 

 

Yoshino tries to calm herself down & reaches for her cell phone. Suddenly Takayama starts breaking through the thin wooden walls with a metal rod, throwing Yoshino into hysteria "I'm sorry!! Please stop! I lied!" Takayama however, keeps pounding away in anger at the door. Yoshino cries pleading "Mai knows something! She knows something about Sadako!! Stop!!" Takayama breaks down the door & Yoshino stares at him, terrified, face wet with tears. Takayama raises his arms & swings it hard. Yoshino scrunches down at the last second & the rod swings into the glass on the wall. Takayama raises his arms again & is about to bring the rod down on Yoshino when Asakawa suddenly appears "Takayama!" Shocked at what's happening, Asakawa is stunned speechless "You....!" Takayama holds out the rod & starts going after Asakawa. Struggling, Asakawa falls to the ground & with a yell, Takayama raises the rod. Asakawa braces for the blow but just as suddenly, something comes over Takayama & the rod falls harmlessly out of his hands. Takayama stumbles out of the house as Asakawa stare in shock. Yoshino comes running up "senpai!" "Are you alright?!" Yoshino nods & Asakawa runs out of the house yelling "Takayama!" Searching, they find no sign of him but find Kashiwada instead. Asakawa stares at the knife sticking out of Kashiwada's chest.

 

(-= CJ =- Talk about knight in shining armor to the rescue. How convenient. Thank goodness I'm not the writer, I would've taken the opportunity & killed Yoshino off. She sure is darn annoying.)

 

At the Aoume West Police Station, a detective bows "Thanks for your help." Asakawa & Yoshino bow politely & walk outside into the night. Asakawa asks "Why didn't you tell me anything? If I had been a moment later do you know what would've happened?" Yoshino looks appropriately remorseful "I'm sorry, troubling you." "It's not a question of being troubled! I worry about you. I don't want to lose any more people that are important to me. It's enough that I take all the risks!" Asakawa heads for his car & Yoshino follows "How did you know where I was?" "How long do you think I've been working as a news reporter? I called Rieko." Getting into the car, Asakawa gets a call "Hello Papa?!" "Hey Yoichi. What's up?" "Nothing. You sound strange. What time are you coming home?" "I'll be back as soon as I can...uhm....uhm...." Papa! You sound tired." "Is that so? Are you worried about me?" Asakawa laughs "It's been a while so let's take a bath together?" "Really? I'll be waiting! I'll let Grandma talk to you now." However she smiles "I don't need to, you go ahead & talk to him some more." "Papa, Grandma said it's ok. Alright I understand, come home soon. Bye bye." "Uhm, bye bye." As Asakawa hangs up, Yoshino spots something on the floor & picks it up "senpai, what's this?" Taking the photo from Yoshino, Asakawa looks at it "Yagi must have dropped it." Taking a closer look at the photo from the play Salome, he notices that the head of the doll on the platter is similar to the one belonging to Moriyama & recalls the nurse telling him "Moriyama-san brought that with him. It must hold a lot of memories for him, he never lets it out of his sight." Comprehension dawns on Asakawa "Oh! That plate is a prop for the play Salome!" Recalling Arima telling him "She eloped. The guy was in the same theatrical group. That man had respiratory problems." Asakawa mutters "Sanitarium for tuberculosis....only one survive....Moriyama's the man Sadako ran off with! No wonder he survived!" Yoshino looks puzzled "What's wrong?" but Asakawa merely says "Let's go!" Putting the car in gear, they screech off.

 

As he drives, Asakawa puts all his thoughts together "After Sadako graduated from high school she joined the theatrical company Hishou. But when her special powers were found out, she eloped with Moriyama. Moriyama suffered from respiratory problems. The both of them went to the sanitarium for tuberculosis. 20 years ago, there was an incident where 13 people, patients & employees, died mysteriously." Yoshino asks "& the only survivor was Moriyama?" Asakawa adds speculating "Perhaps Moriyama was the only one that Sadako ever loved."

 

Sitting in the dark on the floor, Takayama's hands tremble. A little girl's voice cries "onichan! Stop!" Hearing the voice, Takayama stares at his hands & slowly, worry disappears from his face as his hands stop shaking. A hint of a smile appears on his lips.

 

Lying in bed, Mai mutters "onichan..." She turns around, smiling.

 

Asakawa pulls up at Sada Chuou Hospital for the second time in a day to find a patrol car parked outside. Walking in, they see the police question people in the lobby. Asakawa asks the nurse whom he met earlier "What happened?" "Moriyama just died." Asakawa looks stunned "Moriyama-san? How come?!" "The tube was removed. We think it's either an accident or murder. The police are investigating both possibilities right now."  

 

Leaving for the day, Miyashita strides down the dark corridor. Taking a peep through the glass panel into the lab of the first surgical department, Miyashita is shocked to see the stolen virus glowing in the dark. Trying to open the door, she finds it locked. Standing a ways behind a corner, someone watches her silently.

 

Coming out of the hospital, Asakawa gets a phone call "Takayama! Where are you now? What happened to you?!" Takayama, calmly watering the plants in his home, asks "What are you talking about?" "Don't act dumb! That was not you just now, what happened?!" "Me?" "Did you kill Kashiwada?" "No." "Then besides you, who else was there?" "You, you should open your eyes to the truth. Besides you, there is someone else out to get Sadako. Kashiwada was killed by that person. That person knows everything about you, & every  move you're going to make. That person is right beside you. Is it Yoshino-san? Is it Miyashita-sensei? Or perhaps even your son." "Stop talking nonsense! Takayama!" Takayama hangs up, surprising Asakawa.

 

Police sirens flash....Takayama stares mysteriously into space....Asakawa frowns, thinking.....
