Alright, Trieze is getting wildly OOC. (like u didn't notice) and Relena is getting quite OOC as well. But since this is a silly fic, let it pass! Ne, minna-sans? And I forgot to stake claim on Rubia and Trio. To save trouble, I might as well make Trio as myself. *shrug* We're quite similar, anyway. And this is the final chapter!

The Ultimate Race

Chapter 8

"Here we have the leading contestant-- Relena!! Finally she has reached the 3rd station!!"

Third Station

"Careful!! Courage Lake. Trio"

"I have a bad feeling about this..." Relena peered worriedly at the signboard.

"I'm going off first!!" Kuwabara shouted as he overtook the apprehensive girl. Good thing my tyres are designed for both land and water use.

As he drove on the water, he spotted pairs of menacing-looking eyes peering out of the water at him...

"Er?"

At the shore of the lake, Relena Peacecraft watched wide-eyes at the creatures that jumped out from the water.

"Pi... Piranhas? WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH~~!!" he yelled as he was dragged into the water.

(Sayonara, Kuwa-chan *waving a hankie*)

"Contestant #2-- Kuwabara. Pulled out of race because... because..." Petal gave up trying to put words to Kuwabara's predicament, she did not think anyone was listening anyway, and flew over to help the poor, rash fellow.

Meanwhile, Relena found her solution lying lazily in the lake.

"Crocodile!!"

She leapt onto the reptile.

"Sorry to trouble you."

"Relena has boarded a crocodile!! Ah, even the piranhas are afraid of Crocodile."

Relena smiled happily when the piranhas kept their distance.

"However, Heero has also jumped on a crocodile and is trying to catch up."

(Trio: ... Now Heero and Relena are vying for the champion? When did that happen?
Petal: Probably because you elimated most of the contestants already.)

"Ah~ I can't let him catch up." Relena looked over her shoulder in panic. Again, she leaned down to place a kiss on the crocodile. "Please speed up."--

--and the crocodile held up a sign indignantly.

"Hn! I'm a female!"

"Oh..." Relena did not look too happy about it.

"Wah! Treize and his guard ignorantly jumped straight into the lake--!!"

"There's piranhas~" the Guard yelled in panic. Too late.

Trieze looked at the hungry fish and then at the Guard.

(Uh-oh)

"... ..." he kicked the Guard into the water.

"WAAHH~~!!" the Guard flew into the air, arms flailing wildly, then lose out to gravity.

SPLASH.

"SIR~~!!" the poor Guard held out his arm in the direction where the car was moving off, manga-tragic style, as the piranhas swarmed around him. Petal sighed again and flew towards the lake once more before the piranhas could devour him.

Treize simply ignored his cries.

"Three contestants have left the water. Relena is still in the lead, keeping a large margin from the rest of the contestants, and Trieze has closed some of the distance between Heero and himself." Heero was looking positively murderous upon hearing the last remark.

"Duo has finally caught up!! Wow! Jumped right in and drove underwater! Will he be alright~?"

Petal watched the car emerged out of the lake in a shower of water droplets... and piranhas. Dozens were clinging onto the two contestants in the car and some decorated the black race-car. Duo and Pu shook their heads fiercely to get rid of the obstinate fish. And, with band-aids over their faces and bodies, they continued driving. "Phew..."

"... ... ... ..."

Trio dragged a route from South America to Japan.

"We have four contestants left!! Speeding towards the finishing stop-- Tokyo!! First one to reach land is Relena--!! Following closely in a wildly-swerving-trying-to-overtake-one-another pack is Treize, Heero, and Duo!! It's the last sprint of insanity and excitement!!!!!!"

"Get out of the way!! Get out of the way!!" Relena chanted absently as she drove through the streets, past the astonished people.

"Oh!!! The finishing line is in view!!! Can she reach it smoothly?"

(Nah.)

Relena's eyes had turned into hearts. "Heero~~" she sighed dreamily.

"Not so fast!" Trieze seemed agitated and he clicked something on his car's panel.

BEEP. The front of Trieze's car had elongated about triple times it's former length, pushing Relena's car out of the way.

"AH!" ...good thing the car did not explode.

"Overtaking Relena, Treize Khushenada is now in the lead!!" Wow, they deserve an award for their creativity.

Treize smirked arrogantly. "Victory is mine."

"NO WAY--!!"

"Not as long as I can help it."

Two cars, one white and one black, appeared from behind the enormous car, their drivers' faces in a look of determination.

While Heero pushed his car to exceed its limit as he always does to his body, and as always succeeded, Duo had got his car to rear up, and flew over Trieze's head to land on the very long front of the car, and drove on it as if it was a road.
(^_^;;; Giddyup!)

"Whoa! Now! Who will be the champion?! Is it Heero?! Duo?! Or Trieze?!"

The DEFINITELY agitated Trieze kept pounding on the button. Just as Duo reached the end of his "road", the front of Trieze's car elongated again and swerved wildly. Duo, surprised, lost control of the car...

... bumped into Heero's car, causing to get out of control too...

.... and crashed with Trieze's out of control car...

... which resulted in three out of control car skidding, swerving, screeching to the finishing line at the same time. Trieze's car skidding sideways, Heero and Duo's smaller ones flying into the air.

CLICK.

SD Petal snapped a photograph just when they reached the finishing line. She turned from the line to examine the photograph. Behind her, the cars crashed in a big cloud of smoke...

Petal squinted at the photo.

Tyres, metal bits and parts can be seen flying out of the smoke...

"... WELL, P-KO?"

The dusty, sooty, blacked Heero, Duo and Trieze swarmed up to the angel.

Trieze: THE... THE WINNER?!
Duo: HURRY UP!
Heero: WHO IS IT?!
Petal: ... ... ... *still staring at photo*

(Trio: Wow, am I tempted to stop this chapter right here...
Contestants: DON'T YOU DARE!!!!!!!!!!
Trio: Alright, alright... )

Petal: The winner is-- *drumroll and thunder*

Everyone leaned forward in anticipation.

Petal: *dramatically holding out the photograph* -- CONTESTANT #8-- MISTER PU~~!!

Rubia fell off the table she was on.

Trieze looked faint. "How... how can it be..." he did not look entire sane either.

Heero had looked miffed for awhile that he had not won, then remembered that his mission had been to prevent Trieze from winning. He nodded to himself. Ninmu Kanryou. He scowled at the picture he had snatched from the compliant angel, he had not noticed that... that blue creature on Duo's shoulder. At the finishing line, when their cars went flying, that offensive blue creature had flew from Duo's shoulder, and because of its light weight, it reached the finishing line before any of them. He squinted at the photo. Although the three cars seemed to be aligned, he could have sworn his Wing was slightly ahead of Trieze's car, yes, it was just a trick of the photo...

"Hold on---!!" Pu cried anxiously. "I was just riding on his shoulder," Pu pointed at Duo. "So the winner should be him."

"Ba~ka! I'm able to be here all because you saved me! You're the winner!" Duo grinned reassuringly at Pu. Heero did not seem to have any intention to kill him.

Pu was still inconvinced. "But my wish is nothing important..."

"Silly," Relena stepped up to Pu with a laurel wreath. "No matter if the wish is important or not, it's still your wish." She placed the laurel wreath on Pu's head. "Mr. Champion."

"Ah..." Pu was moved to tears.

"PU, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR VICTORY!! SO, WHAT DO YOU WISH FOR?"

"I'm so happy~~" Pu was crying.

Relena urged Pu, "Well, tell her what you want!"

"I wish... for the world to be filled with creatures like me!"

Everybody looked blankly at Pu.

"World filled with creatures like you...?" Duo asked confusedly.

Pu cheerfully chirped, "That's right! Change all the living things to my kind of species and everyone lives together happily~!"

The four contestants present paled.

Trieze: Oh my god...
*imagines a blue plump... bird dressed in the elegant uniform of OZ... and hundreds of other similar birds gathered around, chanting "Wakatto, General."*

Duo: Serious...?
*imagines a blue plump... penguin with a braid in the cockpit of Shinigami, laughing maniacally. "Everyone who sees me must DIE!!!"*

Heero: ... ... ...
*imagines a creature like the one in front of him in spandex and tanktop in the cockpit of Wing. Eyes narrowed and sparring with Tallgeese... he refused to imagine the image of the pilot in the other Gundam*

Relena: Er...
*imagines herself as the blue creature in front of her, in a beautiful dress with long blond hair and calling out "Heero!"... She barely managed to stop herself imagining her Heero in... in...*

They turned from pale to positively green.

"HMM~~~... CHANGE THE ENTIRE POPULATION TO ANOTHER SPECIES ALTOGETHER... SOUNDS FUN!! ALL RIGHT, I'LL FULFIL YOUR WISH RIGHT NOW." Trio grinned happily.

Relena: Wah~! Wait a minute...
Duo: That doesn't count~!!
Heero: DON'T fulfil that!!
Trieze: *clutching at Pu* AREN'T YOU CHANGING YOUR MIND?!?!

Pu: ?_?

Trio is smiling. And sweatdropping. And running. Behind her we see Heero, Duo and Trieze and some miscelleanous readers, maybe Kai is inside as well, chasing.
Heero: OMAE O KOROSU!!
Duo: We went through cold, heat, cliff-hanging, piranhas, and lots more unmentioned, for what?!
Trieze: GET BACK HERE!! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE WINNER!!!
Readers: You CHEAT of an author, I can't believe you didn't let him win~~!
