Suffixes:

-chan - This means you are very close to the person you are addressing. Can also be used for affection,or when you talk to someone younger than yourself. You NEVER call someone older than yourself '-chan'.If you wan to express your affection to an older person, you can simply call them Jane or Joe,or whatever...without a suffix.

-san- this is the usual term for respect. It's used for strangers, or people you don't know well.It can also mean Mr. or Mrs. You also call people older than yourself '-san', in most cases.

-sama - A VERY respectful ending, used for Gods,Kings,me (j/k ^^).

-kun - Used by superior's to inferiors. A teacher, boss or older student who you don't know very well might address you as '
Last name'-kun

-tachi - Means 'and everyone with you'. If someone said Sailormoon-tachi, this would probably mean the Inner Senshi.

And that's all I can think of for now ^_^
