If you happen to be a commuter in the Philippines, I'm sure you've ridden in those imported Japanese buses with Nihongo signs --and even advertisements!!-- intact.
For our purposes, some of these signs make use of -YOU NI "such that", -NI ARU "there is" and -KUDASAI "please" patterns, as well as acceptable variants of them.

Shiito beruto wo o-shime kudasai.
Fasten your seat belt.


Tobira no kaihei ni go-chuui kudasai.
Be careful with the opening and closing of the door.


O-tenimotsu no shuunou wa kakujitsu ni o-negai shimasu.
We request that you keep your luggage secure.


Mado kara kao ya te wo dasanu you negaimasu.
We request that you refrain from sticking your face, hands, etc. out of the window.


Basu ga ugoite iru uchi ni, seki wo tatanai you ni negaimasu.
We request you not to stand up while the bus is still moving.


Yamu wo ezu kyuu-bureeki wo kakeru baai mo arimasu.
Tesuri, tsurikawa nado ni yoku o-tsukamari kudasai.

There are cases of sudden brakes.
Hold well onto handrails, leather handles, etc.


Kyuuteisha suru koto ga arimasu kara go-chuui kudasai.
Be careful as there are instances of sudden brakes.


O-ori no kata wa, kono botan wo oshite kudasai.
To those disembarking, press this button.


Hijouguchi wa migiushiro-hou ni arimasu.
Emergency exit is located at the right side at the rear.


Hijou no baai wa kono kabaa no joubu wo hiki,
naka no handoru wo yoko ni mawashite doa wo akete kudasai.

In case of emergency, pull the top of this cover,
turn handle therein sideways, and open the door.


Shoukaki wa untensekibu to ushiro-hou sekibu no migi-sumi ni arimasu.
Fire extinguishers are located at the right-hand corner of the driver's seat and the rear seat.


Shi-basu / chikatetsu terehon sentaa wa denwa go-ni-ni-no-zero-ichi-ichi-ichi desu.
Unkou jikoku, jousha keiro, noriba, ryoukin nado no o-toiawase ni go-riyou kudasai.

Hourei ni yori, tsugi no koui wa kinshi sarete orimasu no de go-kyouryoku kudasai.

As the following are prohibited by law, we ask your cooperation.

1. Soukou-juu midari ni untensha ni hanashikakeru koto.
Talking with the driver while vehicle is in motion.

2. Buppin wo midari ni shagai e nageru koto.
Throwing objects outside vehicle.

3. Jidousha no unten ni hitsuyou na kikai souchi ni te wo fureru koto.
Touching equipment necessary for driving.

4. Soukou-juu joukou-you no tobira wo kaihei suru koto.
Opening or closing doors while vehicle is in motion.

5. Soukou-juu no jidousha ni tobinori mata wa korekara tobioriru koto.
5. Embarking or disembarking while vehicle is in motion.

6. Hourei ni motozuku joumuin no seishi / shiji ni han suru koto.
6. Opposing law-based prohibitions / directions of the staff.
