ok, here are a few reasons why the dutch anime scene is either near dead or dead... if it`s dead, we`ll just have to cast "raise dead", if it`s near-dead then we`ll have to heal it...

-most people call it either "manga" or that "japanese stuff"...
-at the moment, only manga video/kiseki has released stuff...
-that stuff included crap like "urotsikidoji" and "Fist of the north Star" (sorry kenshiro)...
-one anime released outside of manga video/kiseki is Ultraman, but it`s dubbed... in DUTCH...
-to get artbooks, you`ll have to travel to the bigger cities, like Amsterdam and Rotterdam...
-ordering stuff from the states cost pretty expensive...
-"Neon Genesis Evangelion" and "Visions of Escaflowne" still aren`t released here... *sobsob*
-most people still think it`s mostly sex and violence and crap...
-the anime conventions are at the moment nothing more then anime-nights (but it`ll change, probably already in Feb/March `99)
-very little anime is shown on tv... either old stuff like "Heidi" or "Samurai Piza Cats"... don`t get me wrong, I like it, but it`s already so that most of the episodes are already shown... `n stuff...
-bad articles in magazines... wich are made to sell, not to give the facts correctly `n stuff... or something...
-The Guyver was shown on the dutch tv... but only the first six episodedes... if I`m not mistaken...
-people find it weird when you pay 120 guilders for an "Neon Genesis Evangelion" continuity script...
-it even went as far that Disney NL threatened with a law-suit agains some shop wich was selling tapes of "Kimba the White Lion" cuz they thought it was an illegal "Lion King/Lying King" rip-off...
