"Bouken-ya". According to my Japanese
dictionary, it means something like
"Adventurer". Viz, in the manga, translate
it as "Explorer"; Bandai, in the anime,
have chosen to translate it as "Mercenary".
Anyone who is at all familiar with the
pages of this site will know that I
personally choose to stick with "Explorer",
largely just because of my having
encountered the Viz version first. Also
I like to think that "Explorer" adds
that little touch of dignity and
charisma missing from the harsh and
unfriendly "Mercenary". Other
Bouken-ya may be Mercenaries; but
Boruto Kuranku is definitely an Explorer. |
