Wufei is so obssessed with justice because of his wife, Nataku's death. He adopts Nataku's mind set and ideals. He feels that Nataku's spirit continues to live on in the Gundam Shenlong. That's why he affectionately calls his Gundam "Nataku" and constantly talks to it. (A bit spooky really....) In everything he does, he continues his quest of proving himself worthy of Meiran/Nataku. This explains his low self-esteem, "I am not worthy," problem.
At first Wufei seems a rash and haughty person, but his past explains why he is the way he is and you see that deep down inside he's a beautifully pure and loving person.
About Wufei hating women... he really doesn’t if you think about it. He says to Noin and Sally, on separate occasions, something like, "You don't know your abilities. Why fight if you aren't strong enough?" He comes from a very traditional Chinese society, and that’s what he’s been brought up with : "Men do not fight women." Also it might be because he doesn't want to be the cause of some Meiran-like tragedy. That's why he says, "I don't fight the weak or female,". But, no, I don't think he truly hates women.
