Alan Tam as representative attended Anti-drug & Crime Prevention rehearsal activity yesterday. Under the scorching sun, all the others singers hid in the nanny cars, Alan was the only one seated under the hot sun in the audience seat awating the start. The reporter asked if he wanted to be more tanned, he pointed to Andy who had wore a lot of clothes to the scene, " No, I am one who can withstand hardship, but Andy is even better, so dressed up, like going to town!. he laughed heartily...The singers prerecorded the song for the activity.

Headline: Rumoured bad relationship between Andy & CR, Hacken Li: Sure I support Andy!

Andy had said earlier that he wont attend CR Awards ceremony. This had led to the rumour that the relationship between the 2 are no good. Hacken Li who attended Anti-drug & Crime Prevention activity on the 25th proclaimed that he supports Andy in total.
Hacken has no awards from CR hitherto, Andy has the same fate as him, he said in sympathy," Just 1 word, I support Andy fully! Actually I & Andy are like the whole-sale suppliers, CR has never ordered goods from us, there is no business between us. I have changed many record co, but the outcome is the same. But now with the new millennium, shouldnt be calculative anymore. Privately we can still make frinds & have lunch with CR, if CR has any activity that suits us, we will still attend. We are like 2 countries with no diplomatic relations, we will still wish them the best in their ceremony. Hope that next time there will be a new diplomat to build relations for us. Everyone should know different stns have different methos of computing, no need to elaborate. But Andy's result is extremely good this year, he received WOYP & enters Guiness World Record, who can be better than him!"

24/11---Spent a whole day today on meetings on the promo of Ah Fu, followed by going to Tsim Tsha Shui, to attend HC X'ams Musical: X'mas Magic premiere & lighting ceremony, within such a short period of time the organiser could appliy successfully for me the permit to ride a horse, v fast! While screening Xmas magic, more surprise followed, HK first ever snowing scene, the snow flakes flying dowm the scene was v heartwarming, made me feel 'hallucinated', I have but to praise the workers' efficency & excellent ideas, really make X'man magic comes alive!

Last night Andy was guest at Tsim Sha Tsui Harbour City X'mas lighting ceremony. He looked v imposing riding a white horse in. He wore coffee-colored leather jacket & jeans, waving to the 600 over people there.
For safty reason, Andy was allowed to ride the horse from the harbour, away from the civilians for a 5-min distance, after which he walked to HC. The scene was captured on big LCD screen, he was cheered by all those present, it was bustlingly busy.
After Andy had opened the ceremnoy, the Musical show that he filmed with 2 small stars were shown. The song was sung by him. Artificial snow was used to create X'mas atmosphere, the audience was aroused & enjoyed the merry occasion. Andy had thought of coming by a convertible or a helicopter, but as he had done this before, he tried coming in by a horse this time.
Asked if he is worried the horse will get agitated with so many spotlights?
Andy said this horse is unlike the racing horse in Happy Valley, this is a horse used for shows, & is more tame. He is not worried abt being tossed off, he was accompanied by an expert who had told him to hold the horse head down. It was a successful attempt.
Andy had the advantage of knowing horse riding as he had learned it during the 9 mths period when he was 'frozen' by TVB.

23/11---Today passed v fulfilling, did 3 separate interviews, 2 from mags, 1 from radio stn, also shot a MTV for a new song.
MTV was filmed in a furniture shop, in between work, roamed abt in the shop, now thenology is v advance, even paper can be made into carpet, after washing can still be used, v special!

23rd Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs organised by RTHK has new arrangements this year. The Stn will collaborate with Beijing Stn, Guangzhou Stn, & local stns in 40 over countries to hold an additional award, 'Most Popular Male & Female Singers In The Country', Gold, Silver & bronze awards will be given out for each category. The ceremony will be held on 31st Dec in Beijing
RTHK invited Andy & the director of 'Chinese Top 10' Mr. Li for an interview. Andy had received a total of 42 awards from RTHK so far.
In the interview, the host asked Andy if he really did go by backdoor.
Andy gave a long sigh, "AI!" he said it was so simple, he just wanted to use 'backdoor' as a 'no-no' example for the youngsters, he definitely did not do it.
Now the report is such, will his relation with TVB become strain ?
Andy said TVB is understanding, until now, TVB has not called him, Andy said in entertainment it is common to have fireworks & sparks.
Ever used relations to get work?
"Yes! Such as I ask interview from you, ask Mr & Mrs Hueng to let me film movies, ...haha!"
Which 2 singers he thinks will be the winners of the new awards? Is he confident?
"Of course!" Andy smiles & said, "I, Jacky & Aaron are for the Male singers, female singers will be Sammi, Na yin & Kelly Chen."
Asked if he thinks he will get Golden Needle Award?
"I like all awards, but my contribution to music circle is not much, not as much as Jacky Cheung."
Which guest you want most to receive the award from?
"Best is from the panel of judges as it is more representative, if from famous persons, best is from Zhu Ling Ling! Why? Pretty lady!"
Andy is becoming diversified in his movies, singing & business, is he going to be Entertainment King?
"No! I just want to diversify a bit, my most heartfelt ambition is to film some art movies, but HK market still favours comedy & action movies."
Andy predicts Ah Fu boxoffice will not be as good as Needing U, may be abt HK 13 to 15 millions.

Commercial Radio announced its clarification why Andy not in Top 10

There was an earlier report that Andy is not on good terms with CR, Andy & his song are not on the Top 10.
CR makes an announcement:

Many thanks to all for attention given to CR annual Hit Awards, there was a report that Not Loving U Enough is not on the 'professional recommended top 10 list'& Andy Lau not on Top 10 highest air-play list, on the 20th Nov on CR press con to release the lists, it was calculated based on the air-play from 1st Jan to 18th Nov 2000 from songs on the charts, names in order of nos of strokes, CR did not announce the trend of its Top 10 Hit Awards Songs.
Hit Awards list final computation will be from 1st Jan to 27th Dec total air-play, so as to whether Not Loving U Enough or Andy Lau can get the award will have to wait till 1st Jan 2001 CR Awards ceremony.

22/11---Return form TW to HK, hurried home for a change of clothes, go to office for meetings, the meeting lasted for abt 6 hours, from bright daylight to dark. If not reminded by colleagues, they held a small celebration for me on the award WOYP, I almost forget I havent taken lunch. At that time, the staff brought along 'I Hate I Am Crazy' LD to paly, other than saying I am now more handsome than before, & more mature, really dont know what else to say! Beleive everyone wont disagrree! Hahaha..Andy

"The talk that day was to stress on the message 'to be successful one must put in hardwork', I simply quote an example, the joke was to encourage the youngsters to be realistic, never thought the media is so sensitive, misinterpreted my meaning. I had never said I asked TVB to act on my favour, I just said it was my record co, everyone is too sensitive."
"The newspaper reported that I forced TVB to do on my favour, to do this I have to depend on my record company! Such a big TV stn just to do me favour only? Just depends on year end 'backdoor', is belittling everyone's hardwork. If it is so, the singers produce albums, do promos, film movies, film commercials, busy all the time, is for nothing! The record co doesnt need to employ so many people!"
High level official of TVB He Li Jin further stressed that their co definitely has no 'back-door', "Though TVB awards selection is not opened to public, it is not the result of 1-man selection, & not any one person can manupulate the way it is to be. 21/11---Came to TW today, attended a press con, on the cooperation with Star TV, first time introduced the movie Ah Fu in TW, stressing that the movie is actually a melodrama, it is not a boxing movie, of course, there is not without boxing scene, but the emotional part depicted in the movie is the main theme of the movie. As work finished at 11+ pm, could go back hotel to rest, tonight can sleep early, converving all energy, see you tomorrow in HK!

Andy arrived in TW yesterday afternoon. He had a private meeting with his TW AWC fans after arrival.
Andy is truly an outstanding Young Person. Dao Jin Yin who met him while on her way to M'sia lately, secretly noted what Andy will do on the plane. Said she, "On the plane, Andy reads quitely, books & mags, he really is an outstanding person, even on the plane, he improves himself, unlike me, drooping off from left to right."
The OYP not only is disciplined on the plane, he is similarly disciplined when he got down the plane. Yesterday, Min Shen Pao reporters had photo shots of him while he was walking, he asked him if he wanted someone to help so that he could pass the customs faster. Came a polite reply, "Dont need the trouble, I always queue up like any other passengers." Andy likes to be near to people, when he walked out of the passageway, from the elderly grandma to small children, all asked, "Isnt that the handsome Andy Lau?" Those fans who were at the airport were of course extra-happy.
As Andy is always v busy & has no time to promo himself in Japan, the recent visit makes him realised that he has so many fans in Japan.
From 2001 onwards, will he spend more time venturing to Japan?
Answered Andy, "This is only a beginning." On the future plans on his music, he said he will cooperate with Takashi Sorimachi, but there are too many details, both record companies are still negotiating. Maybe in 2 weeks time, a more definite news will be released.

Andy has come to TW to attend STAR PARTY organised by Satellite TV, other attendees included Lin Xin Lei (sexpot in Conman In Vegas), David Wu, Shun Yan-zhi, etc.
The occasion was to announce plans for its 8 stns under its wing in year 2001. It started at 7pm. The Stn will screened a series of Andy's movies. Andy sang a song Silly Child.
Lin Xin Lei when met up with her ex appeared uneasy. When the reporters tried to ask her questions, Andy pretending to look pathetic, wanted to walk away, later he joked, "Dont force her, otherwise she will have bleeding nose just like in Jacky Chan Cup."
Lin Xin Lei used Andy as shield, "My new bf, Andy Lau lor."

Golden Horse Awards recruiting 'reserve team' Andy Lau fans No.1
Golden Horse Awards will be held on 2nd of Dec. To boost the occasion, for the first time the organiser invites audience to come as 'Group' to act as 'reserve team'. At the release of news, AWC at the earliest hour sent in the application!
It is said Andy will be one of the attendees.

Andy, however, when asked yeaterday, said that the organiser had contacted him, it depends on his schedule, it is not confirmed that he will attend.

Andy has filmed a short musical for the X'mas, titled 'X'mas Magic'. Premier release will be this Sat 25th Nov on the big screen at Harbour City, between 6 & 10 pm, every 30 min release once, making it flicking 8 times a day!
In this musical, lasting only few mins, Andy in order to fulfil the dream of a pair of siblings, was trying to make snow for them, but magic happened Santa with his reindeer flew across the sky & gave them real snow.

2 nights ago Andy was invited by HK Chambers of Young Persons to talk on his story of success, together with 3 other past winners of WOYP award, to a gp of 300 over persons.
Andy said he is able to reach the present state is all because of his perseverance, his Never-give-up attitude.
Andy said he was grown up in a farm area, he left the villege in the 70's, in '81 he signed up with TVB, after 20 years is showbiz, he has encountered many hardships.
He said he had won TVB Most Popular Singer for 3 consecutive years, when he learned that he could not win in the 4th year, he was almost unable to accept the defeat, he had tried to use relations & money to change the situation but failed. He was so disheartened that he thought of disappearing to Mainland China, Andy Lau no longer excisted. But the failure made him realise that one has to face up with reality, his continue struggle won him the award again 6 years later.

1 student asked him what he hopes to achive next year?
Andy: So short? I usually set longer targets, not this year planning for next year, it is rumoured that I will hold concerts next year, actually I hace planned for 4 years already, I plan to hold a stage play next year. Details will be disclosed in March or April next year.
Asked: What is the greatest failure in life?
Andy: Setting too high a target, giving onself too much pressure. Such as when I failed to get the award in '94, the comapny staff cried louder than me, some advised me to give up on getting awards, but I didnt.

Using money & relationships to get award are open secret, but Andy openly disclose it, this gives everybody a shock!
Andy was asked if he had used money & relationship to get award?
Andy: I am just giving an example, hope everyone understands that not everything can be solved with money & relationship, otherwise I will get all the awards, most important is still hardwork. I had used some money, such as making calls to friends to talk on official matters, my staff going to the stn needed transportation money. As on relationship, I dont mean backdoor, but I feel dealing with daily affairs there should be good inter-personal relationship, this will make the working environment happier.

Kelly was asked if she can change to another artiste, who she will choose.
Kelly: Andy Lau! Andy in front & behind stage is such a nice person!
Andy felt sorry that she lost a chance with the half song Not Loving U Enough, Kelly said she already feels perfect collaborating with Andy, there is still chance in other stns.

Yesterday Andy & Alan Tam attended 'Anti Drug & Crime Prevention' activity at the Police headquarters as the spokesmen. The 2 with healthy image will help to promote the message.
Commercial Radio had a press con yesterday to announce the details of its Hit awards to be held on the 1st of Jan.
Of the Top 10 Male Singers with the highest air-play, Andy was not on the list, this is out of expectations of many. Andy has released 3 albums this year, he has at least 5 songs on the top of charts on all other stations. 'Give Myself To You' sat on Commercial stn top spot for 4 weeks. The song Not Loving U Enough was v popular too. It is v puzzling how he is not on the top 10. He is not even 'better' than Liang Han Wen, Wang Yao Min, William So or Daniel Chan.
For the last 5 consecutive years, Andy had not attended Commercial Hit awards. He had again indicated earlier on that this year he wont attend.
At the ceremny yeaterday, Andy was asked if it is because he said he wont attend the award ceremny that had affected the result. Andy laughed & joked with the reporters, "You all are very bad! You forced me to say out I wont go! " (Do you feel it is unfair?) Never say fair or not fair!"
At this moment, Alan Tam walked by, below is their excellent conversation:
Alan: What did they ask you?
Andy: They asked me why you're not in the Top 10!
Alan: Me? ..oor, as expected!
Andy: (Talking to reporters) I also expected it!
Alan: Everytime let people keep asking you, now better say clearly your relation with the stn.
Andy: I have no relationship with them!
Alan: That's it! you have no relationship, then.... no award lor!
Andy: huh?..actually must have relationship?!
Alan twisted corner of his mouth, nodding & smiling ...
The duo 2-man show was humorous, indirectely chided the stn.
Later Andy said in protection of the stn, "Actually every stn has its own mamangement, so please dont any how speculate, maybe I dont belong to its directions, though I have a song at nos 1 for 4 weeks, but they count the whole pop chart, they are professional, they must have done their calculations, they wont anyhow change the result@!"
Andy was asked if he is disappointed? He stressed he is disappointed because of the songs, just like Running Out Of Time & Needing You not dominated for Golded Horse, he is sorry for the movies or the products. He is sorry for Kelly because the duet though is a breakthro for 2 comapnies to cooperate, she has only half a song & not enough to be nominated.
Asked if he will be more careful next time in what he said?
"I am a v straight forward person, I dont beat around corners."

Andy had filmed a commercial for 'Super Warm', a thermal wear, in NZ lately. The ad is out today in HK, TW & Mainland China.
In this ad, Andy acted as a mountain rescue worker, dispalying again a heroic act in rescuing a boy from a cliff which is 100 over feet high. No stuntman was used, Andy performed the action all by himself.
Filming was done under v hostile weather of -10 degree C, No.10 gale & hailstorm, it was v chilly & dangerous.
During filming, Andy was hung unside down, even at rest time, he was not hoisted up to rest, he had to find a shelter in the cliff to shield himself from the strong wind.
At one point, he stepped on a stone, not knowing that it was actually a piece of loose soil, & slipped! It gave everyone a fright! Andy said it was v chilly & scarry, luckily there was Super Warm thermal to protect him from the cold. This type of spokesman is worth the money in employing!
Andy is scared of heights, so he kept looking up at the others while he was being hung in the air. During the rescue scene, it was real tough. Andy said, "That kid after getting wet became v heavy, 100 over lbs, I had to pull him up, the most scarry part is both of us were hung in mid-air, with strong wind blowing." The crew had asked him to stop, but they couldnt hear as the wind was too strong, at the end he felt his barin was choked with blood after being hung upside down for so long! When he stepped on the ground again, his legs were soft, but since everyone clapped & commented he was good, he just had to act calm!

Headline: Leslie Cheung, Andy Lau share 'Most Respectable Award'

Ming Pao Weekly held its first 'Artistes Progress Award Ceremony', an award which is entirely devoid of commercial element, to commend those who have contributions in the showbiz, the occasion was thus fully supported by many in the circle. The ones with the most outstanding results are Leslie Cheung & Andy Lau, both of them received 2 awards each, sharing the highest award of 'Most Respectable Award'.
The award 'My Most Supported Artiste' voted by the readers went to Leon Lai.
Andy did not attend the ceremony, in a pre-recorded video clips he said he is v touched with the awards, he feels the increase in pressure on him, but this pressure is good as it propels his fighting spirit.
The chief editor indicated that the cm selected Andy, who can be described with these 4 words, 'endless self diligence'.

Andy & Leon these 2 Kings, though both have ever won many awards & have legions of fans, the way the 2 handles situations, their attitudes towards persons are miles apart.
In a periodical today, there is an article comparing the 2, when they were in Mainland faced with the sharp critics from the media, their reactions mirrors Andy is a much more friendly person with the media.
In a press con in Hunan, the reporters blamed Andy for being late, & posed him with many embarassing questions, the worst was "You are already at the end of the road, do you still want to carry on?" Despite being humiliated openly, Andy still appeared v composed & answered with dignity, he pointed to his amnager & said, "It is you lah! Give me so much work, now people scolding yeh! (Point to the reporters) You ask my manager!" [Read Andy Town previous report]
In contrast, Leon Lai who had a press con in Guangzhou, though he was late by as long as 50 min, he showed no remose, when asked by the reporters why he was late, he answered with 'couldn't-be-bothered' attitude, "Nobody told me, you wait for me, I wait for you, everyone cannnot be help."
When he was asked he always wore hats in his concerts, cannot see his face clearly, & requested him not to wear hats, Leon appeared v angry, with anger in his eyes, he answered, "I Leon Lai concert is not hold for you alone to see, if you dont like it, can choose not to go...dont critise me!"
The 2 Kings faced with the media have v different attitudes, their behaviours appearing on the press the next day become a stark contrast.

Headline: Andy kept his promise, secretly met AWC M'sia members

Andy was in M'sia on 11/11, he did not hold any press con or make any public appearences, without alerting the media, he had a fan club gathering secretly, despite his v tight schedule in M'sia, to celebrate with his fans on his recent awards.
As soon as he arrived in the afternoon at 4:30 pm he went to Eastin Hotel to meet his fans before he went for the charity concert at night.
A cheery dashing Andy met the fans who were all in high spirits. He cut cake, still as friendly, humorous, & interesting, he made the fans all v happy. Other than giving him a big globe cake, the fans presented him with 2 other presents, one is a pewter tiger engraved with the words 'Ah Fu susseccful!' & a plaque with the words 'World Most Outstanding Idol---Andy Lau' for him, to wish him success in the new movie & to represent the hearts of his many fans.
Andy as usual is v approachable, he actively suggested photo taking with each & every fan 1 by 1, this made the fans even happier. Andy chit-chatted with them on his recent work, album movie, & even sang a song from his latest Cantonese album for the fans.

16/11---These few days really busy till head 'blur', always forget something in between the busy time! Such as after chasing away the office staff, I took back the Final Cut tpae for the new movie home, thought want to have a final through look, never thought after shower couldnt find the tape, no matter how I search. I thought I must have left in the office or in the car, so call the driver & the assistant, still cannot find, v funny! Wasted almost 45 mins. finally found out it was in my backpack, really 'a big-headed prawn!' Luckily it is small thing that I am muddled-headed, big thing I am still v alert! Andy
