What is "educational program" ?

There is no teacher in our club, so the members need to learn from each other. How to learn the communication and leadership skills is shown in the manuals provided by Toastmasters International.
At first an experienced member is assigned to mentor of each new member.
The educational programs are well organized following the methods proposed by Dr. Smedley. A new member starts with Basic Manual, and after finishing 10 projects in Basic Manual, the member proceeds to Advanced Manual which is supposed to be effective for each member .
In Basic Manual, there are projects focusing on speech organization, body language, vocal variety, proper word usage, persuading the audience and so on. After finishing all the projects in Basic Manual, Advanced Manuals are offered.There are a variety of Advanced Manuals available, for example, "The Entertaining Speaker", "Speaking to Inform", "Public Relations", "The Discussion Leader", etc. The member can choose any 1 or 2 of the manuals which is especially effective for his/her improvement.
About the leadership skills, after finishing a few projects in Basic manual, everyone has an opportunity to take lead in a meeting or a session in a meeting. Also, each member has a chance to serve as a club officer, so that he/she can participate in the management of the club as an executive committee member.
